Communism Reborn

David Horowitz was one of the founders of the New Left in the 1960s and an editor of its largest magazine, Ramparts. He is the author, with Peter Collier, of three best selling dynastic biographies: The Rockefellers: An American Dynasty (1976); The Kennedys: An American Dream (1984); and The Fords: An American Epic (1987). Looking back in anger at their days in the New Left, he and Collier wrote Destructive Generation (1989), a chronicle of their second thoughts about the 60s that has been compared to Whittaker Chambers’ Witness and other classic works documenting a break from totalitarianism. Horowitz examined this subject more closely in Radical Son (1996), a memoir tracing his odyssey from “red-diaper baby” to conservative activist that George Gilder described as “the first great autobiography of his generation.” He is author of the newly published book The Great Betrayal (Regnery 2014), which is a chronicle of the Democrats treachery in the war on terror before 9/11 to the death of Osama bin Laden.

As John Perazzo and I write in our new broadside about Occupy Wall Street, this movement marks a new phase in the rebirth of the communist left. I wrote about this phenomenon previously in my book Unholy Alliance, where I included a lengthy analysis called “The Mind of the Left” tracing its development from the Stalinism of the Thirties through its reincarnation in the final degenerated stages of the New Left (William Ayers comes to mind) and then in the post-Communist resurgence of the international left first in the anti-globalization riots (which were not against  globalization but against capitalism) and then in the movement to defend the Iraqi mass murderer Saddam Hussein. Only a movement so swept up in its hatred of America as a symbol of capitalism could have committed a moral atrocity like this. In the book I also noted and analyzed the “unholy alliance” that had been formed globally between the forces of Islamic totalitarianism and the radical secular left. Hence the title of the book.

At the time I wrote the book — which was 2004 — the main organization of the international left was the Soros-funded World Social Forum which brought together narco-terrorists, Islamic jihadists and Western radicals such as Noam Chomsky. The World Social Forum has now emerged as the brain center of the Occupy movement — which is more accurately the neo-Communist international — and its plans for global anti-capitalist riots in June.

The forcible occupation of another man’s property or the obstruction of a public thoroughfare is so blatant a violation of rights that an attempt to justify it becomes an abrogation of morality. An individual has no right to do a “sit-in” in the home or office of a person he disagrees with—and he does not acquire such a right by joining a gang. Rights are not a matter of numbers—and there can be no such thing, in law or in morality, as actions forbidden to an individual, but permitted to a mob. The only power of a mob, as against an individual, is greater muscular strength—i.e., plain, brute physical force. The attempt to solve social problems by means of physical force is what a civilized society is established to prevent. The advocates of mass civil disobedience admit that their purpose is intimidation. A society that tolerates intimidation as a means of settling disputes—the physical intimidation of some men or groups by others—loses its moral right to exist as a social system, and its collapse does not take long to follow.

Only the Left pull off stunts like this. They think they're so high and mighty. Maybe someone on the right should pull an outrageous prank in THEIR face for a change.

I agree with what Ayn Rand said. Thanks, Mr. Bean.

Furthermore, where i live, there are "pollwatchers". They are not there to see that the election is fair. Rather, their presence is to make sure that the election is not fair.

Example: In the 1972 election, I walked into the polling place, and noticed that the seal on the voting machine was broken. I pointed this out to the Republican judge, who then mentioned it to other judges in the polling place.

The next day, as I was reading the Chicago Tribune, I found out … to my astonishment … that the Republican judge in my precinct had been arrested. I made a few phone calls, and found out that the Republican judge's concern over the broken seal had been re-classified as "voter intimidation", and he was arrested. The rest of the day, there was no GOP judge, to watch over a machine with a broken seal.

I'm looking for widespread violence, this Fall, which will NOT be interpreted as voter intimidation.

It feels like deja vu to the 1930s, when every fringe radical movement (IE communism and fascism) was really pitching its economic snake oil to the desperate masses.

Fascism was pretty much only a reaction to Marxism. No Marxism, no Fascism.

No Jews, no anti-semitism either. Your honour depends only on yourself said Schopenhauer. Marxism, Fascism, Islam are ABSOLUTE evil, not relative one.

By God I like your statement! In a great movie "A man for all Seasons" Sir Thomas Moore said "silence implies consent". I hope we all take to hart that message, when in our presence, someone says something we know to be wrong. We don't need to shout or curse at him/her but we must stand up for the truth and shine a light on evil and error..

        • Junkie

Fascists were cruel at times and mirrored their Marxist adversaries in many ways. Islam is organized crime in the disguise of religion.

But at the end of the day, I would a hundred times more want to live in Spain under Franco than in the Soviet Union under Stalin or in Afghanistan under the Taliban.

The OWS movement is nothing less than a rehearsal for the proletarian revolution here that Marx and Engels attempted to instigate circa 1850 in western Europe. It failed then for lack of money, lack of efficient communication and organization none of which is the case now. It's a question of when: Before or after the election? If before it will be a "Reichstag Fire" type of event to keep ImamObama in office indefinitely. If after it will be to nullify a GOP win. The GOP will remain typically clueless and impotent in either event. http://americanthinker.com/2011/05/gop_what_gop.h

OWS is faith in Marxism. Faith is being reborn all over the world. The atheism of Marxism does not mean that it is not a faith. Why computers and the internet have led to an explosion of faith is a fascinating question.

I thought the analogy was pretty clear, but you are blinded by a misunderstanding of economics, so I probably won't be able to explain it to you.

I have a very good bit of advice I would like to pass on.

There is a genuine way out of all this crap. Simply Bless Israel. Little by little, in the fight for what is right and just, you will prevail. Just keep Blessing Israel.

It will also make your enemies mighty put out.

  • Brujo Blanco

Let us consider what is going on. OWS is breaking multiple laws but there is no cry from the president for restoration of order. Obama is appointing socialist oriented officials illegally. Obama is attempting to control media. He now has a soviet style law which allows him to use the military to lock up his opposition as suspected terrorists indefinitely without any due process at all. All he needs now is a national emergency to justify a assumption of dictatorial authority. He needs his “Reischstag Fire” to justify his actions.

  • tagalog

Did you see where there's a new "scientific" study that says people who are of low orders of intelligence gravitate to conservatism?

The OWS and their supporters put the lie to THAT study, eh?

The Return Of The God That Failed…..and will fail again. The big question is: how many more millions of innocent victims will be slaughtered on it's Politically Correct alter THIS time?

I still remember the cover of an issue of National Review,Dec 1992,or January 1993 – as Clinton was about to infest the White House for 8 ugly years – with the title: "America:Communism's Last Stand?"

And I still think: even if it turns out to be, how many innocent people will be slaughtered by it here? How many members of MY family, relatives, etc, will be destroyed, and be swept under the rug as mere forgotten "statistics"( To paraphrase Stalin's infamous words )?

  • Emily Olivero

Bishop Fulton Sheen described Communism in his 1950's book THE CHURCH,COMMUNISM, AND DEMOCRACY. It is not a political party, is a philosophy taken fron Platos' REPUBLIC. Goal is power over the people. Based on two principles:(1)Destroy the countrys' economic system…no money, no private property, no freedom. Are a slave to the Power. (2) Destroy all religions,,get rid of God…Power is to be the peoples' God. We appear to be going in that direction. MAY THE GOD OF ALL CREATION SAVE US!!!!!

Potential drawbacks of dresses include being either too long or cumbersome for the performance of some physical activities such as climbing stairs or ladders. In addition, some dress styles, particularly those with back closures, can be difficult or even impossible to don or remove without assistance.
