Middle Fingers at the White House

Pages: 1 2

Imagine this:

A future Republican president invites Tea Party leaders to the White House. Some of them have themselves photographed standing in front of a portrait of President Barack Obama with their middle fingers extended. They then posted these photos on Facebook with the caption “F—k Obama.” (Needless to say, the F-word was spelled out.)

Some questions:

1. How much coverage do you think the national press would give to this?

2. How would Democratic — and Republican — leaders react?

3. How would Tea Party activists react?

The answers:

1. The mainstream media across America would widely report what had happened and repeatedly show these photos. “The New York Times” would editorialize about the racism of the Tea Party. Liberal columnists would be relentless in their condemnations of the Tea Party as a low life movement of yahoos.

2. Democrats and Republicans alike would condemn these leaders and demand their resignation.

3. Tea Party activists would feel embarrassed by these people who represented them, and they would be deeply concerned that their movement’s good name had been permanently tarnished.

Now let’s explore a real-life situation from this past week.

President Barack Obama invited activists to the White House’s 2012 LGBT pride reception. Two of them, Matthew “Marty” Hart, a director of the leftist organization, Solutions for Progress, and an activist photographer, Zoe Strauss, posed for a photo in front of a portrait of President Ronald Reagan with both their middle fingers extended. They then posted the photo on Facebook with the caption “F—k Reagan” (the F-word is spelled out).

Now let’s answer our questions:

First, the liberal, or “mainstream,” media never mentioned the incident. Not a word about it appeared in “The New York Times,” “The Washington Post,” the “Los Angeles Times” or on NPR (which had given Zoe Strauss extensive and laudatory attention just a few weeks earlier). There was no coverage on ABC News, NBC News, or CBS News. “The Huffington Post” reported the incident in this way: “If several raised fingers are any indication, some LGBT activists who visited the White House last week are fully evolved on what they think of President Ronald Reagan.”

It was reported by Fox News, on conservative talk radio shows, by the “The Weekly Standard,” “National Review” and other conservative journals and websites.

Second, aside from one tepid rebuke from a man named Shin Inouye, the “Director of Specialty Media in the White House Office of Communications,” the Democratic Party and other left-wing organizations said nothing.

And, of course, not a word of condemnation from the world of gay activism, other than the conservative gay organization, Log Cabin Republicans.

What are the lessons?

One is that without Fox News, talk radio and conservative journals and websites, one gets an utterly skewed view of the world.

    What are the lessons?

The Neo-Bolsheviks (including liberasts) have taken the power in America, which means, as Nikita Khruschev edified in a naive sincerity, that:

"We in the USSR have all the freedoms in the world to promote the cause of communism, but we do not and must not have any freedom to argue against communism" (progressivism in contemporary parlance).

P.S. Mr. Prager, please do not promote the invented euphemisms "gay" (originally meaning "joyful") as a substitute to "pederast" or "homosexual".

    • Pavel

Why are you so angry and hateful towards homosexuals? I don't get it.

      • trickyblain

    • http://www.resonoelusono.com/NaturalBornCitizen.htm Alexander Gofen

Pavel, you have no basis for blaming me in hate because my comment was not about my feelings at all. Indeed, in progressive lingo if a person dares merely to not "embrace" or "celebrate" their perversity, the person therefore must be "full of hate". So be it. People who boast with (rather than cure) their illness, who push their abomination into the throat of the entire society including the children, deserve to be hated.

      • trickyblain

Your comment is purely about feeling. You "hate" them. Hate is a feeling. You, as a product of vodka-ridden genes, Bolshevik lies and typically backward serf easternness, may not see this. That's understandable. But not inexcusable.

        • http://www.resonoelusono.com/NaturalBornCitizen.htm Alexander Gofen

My original comment was about the totalitarian "progressivism" which overwhelmed America. You can call it "hate" or whichever (guess if I care)…

          • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

They hijacked a word and changed it. You called them on it. It's not about feelings, it's about exposing their tactics in the past and bringing that forward into today's debate issues. And they don't like it when you out think them.

            Good for you!

Typical Lefty BS!! If a conservative did somehting similar to a Liberal icon, head would roll!! Double-standard rears its ugly head yet again!!

  • ConservativeLez

I am a lesbian, though, an American first and foremost. What these "respresentatives" of the gay community did, in no way reflects what all of us feel. Reagan wasn't to blame for AIDS, irresponsible immoral sex, was. Reagan wasn't to blame for not finding a "cure". It's not the government's job to find cures for anything. Even with all the education crammed down our throats, gay men are still contracting AIDS. So, these immature children in the photos, shouldn't be flipping-off Reagan, but those who refuse to take responsibility for their own deviant behavior. But like most liberal sheep, they pray at the altar of obama, as if he loves them, for anything other than their vote, come November.

    • http://frontpage richard sherman

These two men are accurately displaying the IQ of every Obama supporter and every member of the Obama administration.

    • Mo_

Thank you for speaking out against this behavior. How I wish more people in the homosexual community would do so.

    • Lucid

Exactly. Reagan actually increased spending on AIDS research and education something like 35% PER YEAR in office, but gets booed because he didn't preside over its cure or the decline of the epidemic. Personal responsibility means nothing to these people.

  • zeggman

Mr. Prager, you and I frequently disagree on issues, which is why (despite the fact that you blocked me on Twitter for concisely and politely pointing out why you were wrong about the wisdom of the heart vs the wisdom of the Bible) I feel it's important for me to speak up when we agree.

This kind of disrespect is childish and pointless. The people who had themselves photographed giving Reagan the finger should be publicly censured by the current President, and indeed by the entire LGBT community as well. I firmly support same-sex marriage (and Mr. Prager, you ARE on the wrong side of history on this one), but I just as firmly condemn this infantile behavior.

    • Elliott

I object, very strongly, to this new-speak word "same-sex" marriage. The number of phrases / concepts in the English language that have been perverted to satisfy some miniscule group of people is beyond counting, and beyond belief.
When a 'celebrity' (there's a word of absolutely no value) becomes the parent to a child born out-of-wedlock, the infant is known as a "Love Child". Does this imply that the offspring off married couples (one male and one female) are NOT born as a result of love?????
In my opinion, and I'm sure that most heterosexual folk agree with me, there is no such thing as "same-sex" marriage. Call it a "Living together agreement", call it what you will, but it ain't marriage.
Finally, the people featured in the photographs in front of President Reagan's portrait, were simply displaying their IQ: of 2.

      • zeggman

Fear not, Elliott, when the egalitarian spirit has finished its work (and reactionaries like you and Mr. Prager have finally come around) there will be no need for the term. It will join "miscegenation" on the scrap-heap of history, and what is now called (because of its novelty) "same-sex marriage" will be recognized for what it is, simply "marriage".

  • kafir4life

Where was President Stinky (-bo) during this? Rumor has it he was snorting cocaine of Davd Brock's TonyD.

  • kafir4life

What's that brown stuff on the ends of their fingers? Oh. Is that you Mr. President?

  • Ronald Johnston

All these yellow-bellied liberals are nothing but cowards!!! When the war starts, they will only get shot in the back while running away!!!!

    • Trickyblain

A person impotently fantasizing shooting people in the back, and calling them cowards at the same time? Classic. Only on FPM.

  • Ghostwriter

To be honest,I thought that those photos at the beginning of the article were just tasteless. A pair of selfish jerks reveling in the fact that they're jerks.

  • http://tarandfeathersusa.wordpress.com/ Iratus Vulgas

The liberal double standard is what it is. Conservatives have to work twice as hard, be twice as good. It's just the way it is. No one ever said bigotry was fair. It's not supposed to be.

  • dennis x

raygun gave the gay community the finger for 8 years, pay back is a b——!

  • Schlomotion

Mr. Prager espouses views that sound eerily similar to the views held by Yishai Shlisel, the ultra-Orthodox Jewish protester who stabbed people in the name of Judaism at the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade.

  • Ghostwriter

And once again,Schlockmotion reveals his hatred for Jews by once again attacking them. He does this in every post he does. He's probably thinking of doing a follow-up to one of his favorite books of all time,"The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

Really, do you eat off that finger?

  • pagegl

No, it isn't, but when conservatives do something similar leftists go ape-s— and would have you believe it is.

(Sorry about that folks, in the deleted comment I spelled out the three dashes after the 's' and the filtering software apparently had a touch of heartburn with that.)

It's a matter of decorum and respect- something you probably never heard of…

So we are not allowed to express opinions if they differ.
