2016 Tops Inconvenient Truth and 4 Out of 5 Michael Moore Documentaries

How well is 2016: Obama’s America doing? It has already topped Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth and every single Michael Moore documentary except for Fahrenheit 9/11. Last weekend 2016 passed Bowling for Columbine. This weekend it passed Sicko and An Inconvenient Truth.

2016 also had one of the lowest falloffs in one of the worst movie weekends of the year with a better falloff than 3 out of the top 5 movies. And it added more theaters this weekend than any movie playing anywhere in America, showing that theater owners are rushing to get on board the 2016 express. At a time when moviegoers are staying away, viewers are still coming in to see 2016 which is now playing in 2,017 theaters.

2016: Obama’s America is now the 6th most successful documentary and the 2nd most successful political documentary. Next weekend it is almost certain to hit number 5. And it has done all this despite receiving a fraction of the hype and attention lavished on movies like An Inconvenient Truth, Bowling for Columbine and Religulous. 2016 is what an authentic grass roots hit looks like.
