In all seriousness, I think part of the assumptions about whether American democracy can be exported come from a simple look at who is immigrating in to the USA. If we ignore the possibility that some are here for malicious reasons, we assume these people must be running to democracy that naturally they'd prefer to have at home to share. Especially when some of these immigrants have such a hard time assimilating with American melting pot culture (already very diverse and accepting), that just seems like more evidence of the demand for democracy. Therefore any active immigrant population is seen as evidence for prospective export targets.

We know the fatal flaw here, liberals believe we are the fatal flaw because let's face it, bigots do exist and we've described as the guilty parties (conservatives or anyone who stands in the way of the "progressive" agenda). Dupes can't imagine duplicity. Instead, they imagine bigots in America who kept slaves, interned Japanese, harassed Jews, all as evidence that there can be no cultural enemies of the USA except for conservatives.
