Benghazigate: 60 Minutes Covered Up Obama’s Terror Waffling

60 Minutes was always tilted well to the left, but once upon a time it had a smidgen of journalistic credibility. That smidgen went out the window with Dan Rather. Now 60 Minutes is just a pompous institution of the media left. Its ominous ticking clock broadcasting a seriousness based entirely on style, rather than on content.

As FOX News’ Bret Baier shows, 60 Minutes selectively edited their Obama interview to misrepresent Obama’s position.

KROFT: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?

OBAMA: Well it’s too early to tell exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans.  And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice, one way or the other.

KROFT: It’s been described as a mob action, but there are reports that they were very heavily armed with grenades, that doesn’t sound like your normal demonstration.

OBAMA:  As I said, we’re still investigating exactly what happened, I don’t want to jump the gun on this.   But your right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt.  And my suspicion is there are folks involved in this. Who were looking to target Americans from the start.  So we’re gonna make sure that our first priority is to get our folks out safe, make sure our embassies are secured around the world and then we are going to go after those folks who carried this out.

The bolded section was excised and released only later. In context and even out of context, Obama was clearly reluctant to call Benghazi a terrorist attack. Out of context, it could be made to seem as if he was sorta conceding that it was a terrorist attack. In context he was clearly avoiding the terrorism label.

CBS made a deliberate decision to release a clip favorable to Obama while suppressing the one that would have been unfavorable to him.

Journalism. It’s like working in the White House but with more cameras.

Yea Greenfield , unless it was Faux-Fox News under Ruppert the Liar Murdock doing the interview , everything else is a cover up that deviates from the wingnut spin .

Oh and the mainstream press never lies, not once ever? Dream on.

Fox News is not great, just the closest thing to real journalism as far as I can tell (not that I've seen it much, but I know they make a superficial attempt at balance at least, which drives people nuts who think the rest of the mainstream media is "balanced").

I'd almost say this would have Walter Cronkite rolling in his grave, but if he were alive today I have the sneaking suspicion he would be down with this.

I think it was in the second Presidential debate that Obama repeatedly addresses American citizens as “folks.” The noteworthy thing is that he used it over and over. He did not speak to us directly, but as if we were not in the room. I figured he was taking a cue from his buddy Biden’s Soggy Bottom era of politics; politicians address the “town folk”, the “common people”. As the debate went on, I figured that he was talking to my hillbilly farmer dust bowl ancestors. You know, us folks out here…before we moved to L.A.

Check it out in this interview. Barry refers to terrorists, to murderers, to assassins who committed an act of war against America as….“folks!!”
“…bring these folks to justice, these folks who carried this out…there are folks involved in this”. As distinguished from "…our folks" perhaps? The politician pitches it to us that these are all a benign flock of ignorant sheep.

We're all just folks and family members of potential voters don't you know? We can't make moralistic judgments about anyone or anything, unless they blatantly oppose Barry's plans. That is of course unforgivable racism.
