Charlie Hebdo has More Guts than Entire American Media Combined

American media panics at the thought of a Muslim somewhere even seeing a Mohammed cartoon. No one had to firebomb CNN to get it to censor the Mohammed cartoons. The French anarchist weekly Charlie Hebdo on the other hand has been firebombed and it will still be publishing the Mohammed cartoons again.
Last year it published an edition “guest-edited” by the Prophet Mohammed that it called Sharia Hebdo. The magazine’s offices in Paris were subsequently fire-bombed in what was widely seen as a reaction by Islamists.
Charlie Hebdo’s latest move was greeted with immediate calls from political and religious leaders for the media to act responsibly and avoid inflaming the current situation.
French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault issued a statement expressing his “disapproval of all excesses.”
The magazine’s editor, originally a cartoonist who uses the name Charb, denied he was being deliberately provocative at a delicate time.
“The freedom of the press, is that a provocation?” he said.
Ah but to Muslims it is.
Dalil Boubakeur, the senior cleric at Paris’s biggest mosque, appealed for France’s Muslims to remain calm. “It is with astonishment, sadness and concern that I have learned that this publication is risking increasing the current outrage across the Muslim world,” he said. “I would appeal to them not to pour oil on the fire.”
Because as Dalil admits, Muslims have so little self-control that they can’t help going into a violent frenzy. And there are only two ways to deal with. Either become sensitized to Muslim outrage or desensitize Muslims.
This is what I wrote 5 years ago.
We’re fighting a cultural war and humor is our best weapon. We’ve spent the last 50 years laughing and mocking every aspect of our societies. Let’s turn that laughter on Islam full bore. And Islam’s defenders will find it difficult to censor and silence humor, the way they can silence and discredit political commentary. To try and silence humor is to look like a prig and if there’s anything our politically correct cultural overlords hate, it’s to come out looking like the stuffy humorless totalitarian-minded fascists that they really are.
