China Rushes to Define Itself as a Muslim Country

Russia has been emphasizing its Muslim identity for a while now. Obama got into the act in Cairo, pitching America as a Muslim country. And now China has decided to get into the act… for business reasons naturally.

China’s government has thrown considerable diplomatic and political resources during the past five years into building up Middle East ties. Lavish conferences have been sponsored across the country, ethnic festivals held to celebrate Chinese Muslims’ heritage, and trade delegations sent out from both sides, including two visits to Saudi Arabia by outgoing Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Last year, Sino-Arab trade increased by 35 percent to $196 billion, according to Chinese officials, and in the first half of this year, trade rose 22 percent over the same period in 2011, to $111.8 billion. The Sino-Arab trade remains dominated by oil, but Chinese exports such as textiles and home appliances have made a strong showing, according to limited data released by Chinese officials.

With the U.S. and European economies still recovering, the Arab world is an increasingly enticing market for Chinese exports and a potential source of investors for Chinese projects. Middle Eastern countries are also some of the closest positioned to help develop China’s western provinces, which have fallen far behind its flourishing eastern coastal cities during the past three decades of economic boom.

Perhaps most important, on a strategic level, China wants to protect and strengthen its access to the Middle East’s oil and energy resources, which are fueling the country’s economic growth.

“The short-term goal of increasing halal meat going to Arab countries is to build up our local economy and workforce,” said one provincial official here, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the strategy of central authorities. “But the real goal is to introduce the Arab world to us and get them comfortable with the idea of building up their relations and investment in China. . . . And energy is not the only reason behind it, but it is a big one.”

So far so bad… but here’s where China really goes into the hole.

The decision by central authorities to make Ningxia a focal point for bridge-building efforts aimed at the Middle East gave local business leaders a much-needed boost of hope.

It is hard to find a province more in need of development. A desert region largely left behind during China’s economic boom, Ningxia has the country’s third-smallest gross domestic product and few exports that it can rely on besides a fruit called wolfberry.

One thing it does have in abundance, however, are Muslims. Two million members of the predominantly Muslim ethnic minority called Hui live here, making up a third of the province’s population. The Hui are thought to be descendants of Arab and Persian traders going back to the ancient days of the Silk Road.

Local officials are starting small, with exports of such products as halal meat. But there are ambitious — and perhaps overly optimistic — plans to eventually turn the province into a gleaming financial hub for trade with the Arab world.

Chinese officials really need to take a harder look at the world beyond their own borders. Russia’s own experience should be adequately educational.

Muslim oil tyrannies would love a foothold into China’s Muslim areas, more than they have already, in order to further Islamize and radicalize them.

China will lose far more dealing with an upsurge in violence than it will from the trade agreements and while China has thus far had no trouble handling its Muslim minority, giving them serious training and skill from the gulf would shift the balance. Furthermore China’s stability is uncertain and its future is not set. Muslim violence right now would not bring it down, but in combination with other tensions and domestic uprisings, it might be more than the PRC could deal with.

WHEREVER Islam takes root blood flows. Now it is not as if Chinese leadership are averse to blood shed. Not at all. But if they believe that Islamists will allow them to stop their control over the population, they are in for much more blood than they even dare tolerate.

Islam and blood, inextricably tied, joined at the hip, wherever Sharia Law takes its death grip – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/07/13/islam-blood-a… their lust is boundless – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/09/13/muslim-blood-

Ahh.. the Chinese regime will soon learn their lessons…and the Islamization of Europe should be their guide….as they too created a pact called Eurabia.

the silver lining: china is beating the pants off us economically because they have a workforce that wants to actually work. convert the industrious chinest to muslim, and allah will take care of everything. late for work? shrug shoulders, " the will of god." just happens, god didnt will that i get to work on time. nothing to do with me. convert china into a mass of howling, dependent muslims, living off welfare, while they concentrate on the important things in life: prayers to a god of evil, devotion to an archcriminal prophet, beating their wives, recruiting new wives, molesting children, killing people, and hating infidels. that doesnt leave much time for work. go for it china. you need islam, and islam needs you. china and islam can wallow in poverty, ignorance, sloth, and vice together.

"shrug shoulders, " the will of god." just happens, god didnt will that i get to work on time. nothing to do with me."

It's a cultural implication of Islam. No question about it. This is why they are behind, not so-called neo-colonialism and Islam-o-phobia, Does it count if you're afraid to hire people who won't get anything accomplished? Not to say that all Muslims are like this because they're not. But collectively, there is a clear difference in culture and the quote reflects what you generally find among these populations. It's not just getting to work on time, it's excelling at any level above what they subjectively feel, which is then interpreted or excused as the will of the moon god.

There is a funny scene in "Four Lions" that illustrates Islamic fatalism when one of the jihadis kills his commander and eventually we find out he supposedly killed Osama bin Laden too, but he's made himself a hero out of accidentally firing an anti-tank missile at his comrades while trying to attack an American drone.

yeah but don't think for one minute that China WON'T go all Tienamen Square on all their asses if there's a "Muslim Uprising".

    • objectivefactsmatter

"yeah but don't think for one minute that China WON'T go all Tienamen Square on all their asses if there's a "Muslim Uprising"."

Precisely. Don't think for a moment it hasn't already been discussed. Everyone knows it, except maybe the silly fatalistic jihadis. It would actually be something to look forward to so that, well, we can point to it as a precedent for how to handle 5th columnists. Students are one thing, jihadis are another school of fish that deserve to be shot like fish in a barrel. Not sure if that mixed metaphor worked but you get the drift. Bring on the tanks and position then right in front of the jihadi embassies.

      • Mary Sue

Oh yeah. China has no trouble gunning down anyone, be they students, or whatever. They have no trouble arresting and imprisoning and torturing people, be they Tibetans, Falun Gong, or "Weegers". The "great" part of China being entirely sociopathic about who it oppresses means they'll open the same can of whoopass on Muslim jihadists.

    • Brooklyn Dave

Mary Sue, I think all this has to be played out a little more. If Muslims do something very overt, then the Chi-Coms are going to go Tianamen on them.. The Chinese are in a bind insofar as they have to keep their level of growth at a certain level, or else the poo will really hit the fan among the peeps. They are looking for an immediate solution. I really don't think the Chinese are oblivious.

America is, by definition not a muslim country.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof……"

The last time I checked, congress did not vote to replace our federal government with sharia, and if they ever attempt it, they would be violating our Constitution. Again.

The whole islam joke is an intelligence test. Go ahead and let China and Russia fail that test – it doesn't mean that we have to fall for such massive stupidity.

    • objectivefactsmatter

"America is, by definition not a muslim country"

Nope. We're Muslim appeasers, which I assume is constitutional otherwise our president wouldn't be selling us out domestically and around the world. Hey, it's not explicitly forbidden in the constitution so it must be OK.

      • Rebas Thgil

It must fall under some people's concept of the pursuit of happiness. Need to convert more and more low information voters into something more intelligent than slime mold so that they will never want to put a marxist muslim appeaser in the white house again.

    • curmudgeon

but we are falling for such massive stupidity. every time we allow our treasonous government to import another muslim, we are falling for it. the chinese can kill people they dont like. we, on the other hand, just love people who hate us, so we enrole them in our welfare system, pamper them, give them preferential treatment, protect them from the people they have been oppressing for centuries, and pay them to breed like bacteria. islam is only our second worst enemy. our worst enemy is our political establishment: the decision makers of both traitorous parties.

      • Rebas Thgil

        Yes……

China may gain economically presently but will eventually be destroyed from within by these fanatics and so will Russia and America for their ignorance.

    • objectivefactsmatter

"China may gain economically presently but will eventually be destroyed from within by these fanatics and so will Russia and America for their ignorance."

China has distinct advantages that allow them to exploit these jihadis the way the Western nations can't. China may be doing this with their eyes wide open. Not only this but it would be great for China to somehow go off on them and then become the number 1 great satan for a while. I can think of lots of advantages.

The only disadvantage to the West is that China and their Islamic partners will grow wealthier exploiting resources and even more of the world population. That sucks for lots of people. Let's hope for some events that reveal the facts for what they are, in such a way that it opens eyes around the world.

It's in the chinese interest to stay with Muslims to defy the west in a long term strategy

    • objectivefactsmatter

"It's in the chinese interest to stay with Muslims to defy the west in a long term strategy'"

Absolutely. But this is a new level of cooperation that brings new risks to the Chinese. I am sure they realize it too and view these risks as manageable.

  • Jozy

You would think that China and Islam deserve each other. Do not forget, however, that China is a nuclear power …

  • redneck

If China can harness the "power" of these jihadists, and turn them against western nations with the full endorsement of the Chinese government, this could get really ugly really fast. From my understanding, their government already views individual citizens as expendable. Why not allow a few hundred thousand expendables to go blow up strategic locations? Destroy the west and become the only remaining superpower. Then, once the Islamic extremists have outlived their usefulness, destroy them too since they were expendable to begin with.

Firstly, there is a purpose we humans are created and placed in this unique heavenly body called earth as compared to other planets. If we ponder for a while, there must be a reason for this. Is is just to simply live, having offspring, earning wealth and lastly die…?

As for Muslims beliefs, God have give guidance for human. Everything will be judged by God in the Final Day. And it is up for human to obey the guidance and limit themselves from greed and power by oppressing the weak.

“And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it.” (The Qur’an, 51:47)

“Verily, the Hour is surely coming. But I will to keep it hidden, that every soul may be rewarded for that which it strives (to achieve).” (The Qur’an 20:15)
