Lately it seems like our leaders constantly want to “discuss” things with us. It used to be that principals and doctors would want to “discuss” things with us, like our grades or lack of exercise. Now everyone single time there’s a crackdown it begins with a “serious discussion”.
Attorney General Eric Holder made remarks a short time ago on the tragic school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, where a 20-year-old gunman killed 20 children and six adults. Holder appeared to suggest the country’s gun laws may need to be looked at more closely in the wake of the latest mass shooting.
“As a nation I think we have to ask ourselves some hard questions. We gather too often to talk about these kinds of incidents. We need to discuss who we are as a nation, talk about the freedoms that we have, the rights that we have and how those might be used in a responsible way.”
Please, by all means, let’s have a discussion about how the Second Amendment can be used in a responsible way from a man who ran a gun candy store for Mexican drug lords.
The only thing that we need more than a serious discussion about race from the New Black Panther Party’s advocate who called us a “Nation of Cowards”, is for some “hard questions” about the right to bear arms from a man who killed thousands as a ploy to sabotage that right.
But by all means, let’s ask some serious and responsible questions about guns. Such as why there were no armed personnel in a school, after countless school shootings. How about asking what the point of a gun-free zone is when that gun-free zone means that everyone inside is disarmed?
And here’s a relevant question, what is the point of background checks when the school shooter was able to get guns through his mother despite being a, “headcase”?
But those aren’t the serious questions that Eric “Mexican Drug Guns” Holder wants to discuss with us. What he wants to do is salami slice the Second Amendment some more. Maybe have a serious conversation led by Oprah and Carolyn McCarthy, Long Island’s own Cindy Sheehan, whose husband got killed by Colin “Black Rage” Ferguson, and all she got out of it was 15 years in Congress.
But by all means, let’s have a serious discussion about why the states with the highest rate of gun ownership have the lowest rate of gun violence.
