MSNBC’s Apartheid Convention Coverage

Imagine if FOX News cut away each time a minority speaker came to the podium? Within a few hours it would be the topic of every cable news show from now until the year 2073. Now imagine that a progressive liberal news network does it. But the good news is that you don’t have to imagine it. If you watch MSNBC, you’re living it.
When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech. MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black.
Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech. And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too. Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.
Perhaps some producers at MSNBC feel that if they don’t show minority Republicans, they will just vanish into thin air. Or perhaps they think that their viewers are gullible enough to accept that there are no black Republicans, if they don’t see them on MSNBC.
Behavior like this is the difference between a news network and a propaganda network.
