Muslims Attack Resolution Condemning Campus Anti-Semitism

Muslim groups and leftist fellow travelers are furiously protesting against Resolution 35, a California Assembly resolution put forward by Assemblywoman Linda Halderman, a doctor who lost family members in the Holocaust.

The outrage by Muslims and the left at a resolution that “unequivocally condemns all forms of intolerance, including anti-Semitism, on public postsecondary educational institution campuses in California” and that calls on California universities “to increase their efforts to swiftly and unequivocally condemn acts of anti-Semitism on their campuses” is very revealing.

It is even more revealing that Muslims and the left feel that they cannot conduct a debate about Israel without resorting to anti-Semitism. The Freedom Center recently put out a pamphlet on Muslim Hate Groups on Campus that describes some of the embedded bigotry that Resolution 35 condemns. Rather than addressing the issues, Muslim groups instead claimed that the pamphlet was Islamophobic. And here Muslim groups are working to preserve their right to hate.

Resolution 35 notes the increase in anti-Semitism around the world and the ugly consequences on California campuses.

“Jewish students on public postsecondary education institution campuses in California have experienced… physical aggression, harassment, and intimidation by members of student or community groups in student-sponsored protests and rallies held on campus” as well as “speakers, films, and exhibits sponsored by student, faculty, and community groups that engage in anti-Semitic discourse or use anti-Semitic imagery and language” and “actions of student groups that encourage support for terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah and openly advocate terrorism against Israel and the Jewish people.”

These are clearly the forms of protest that CAIR and Jewish Voice for Peace are determined to continue employing. Otherwise why bother attacking a non-binding resolution against anti-Semitism.
