Obama and Family Cost Taxpayers 1.4 Billion Dollars Last Year

Hello Britain, can we have  your royal family back? Sorry about that revolution thing, but it turns out that ours just costs too much.

Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year. In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.

Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”

But come on. Bo needs his taxpayer paid staffer.

The president’s dog gets its own high-paid staffer: “Bo made the news when he and his handler were flown to join the president on vacation in Maine,” Gray wrote about the Obama family dog. “It has been reported that the first family’s dog handler was paid $102,000, last year.”

Just wait till Obama appoints Bo to the Senate or the Supreme Court.

These figures mean that the Cost of Obama is about 0.1 percent of the annual deficit. Now there’s a deficit cutting solution.

Barry & Michelle hit the lotto in Nov 2008. I am sure they will keep lining their pockets. A more worthless couple I know not of.

Perhaps she should start a shoe collection. That's very popular with the wives of tin horn third world leftist 'leaders'.

  • Questions

If the UK royal family costs only about 5 percent what it takes for the care and feeding of the Obama family, maybe we Americans ought to consider the benefits of becoming a monarchy.

    Over a 100k for a "dog-handler"?

Not only noveau riche, but darned stupid!

      Beware the passive voice…

“It has been reported that the first family’s dog handler was paid $102,000, last year.”

      It "has been"? By whom?

I'm not defending Obama in any way but let's make sure we get all the truth out there. I don't see anyone proclaiming the record-setting $9 billion he was able to get back in Medicare fraud funds? In fiscal year 2011, for the second year in a row, the departments’ anti-fraud activities resulted in more than $4 billion in recoveries, an all-time high http://leeunderwood.org/r/x . But we don't want to mention that, right? And what about the billions the previous Republican president is costing us on a daily basis in the ongoing destruction of Iraq (not to mention the Republican-backed 'military contractors' who have stolen tens of billions of dollars with complete impunity)? And what about the costs from the Congress and Senate (both Republican AND Democrat) and their friends that have enriched themselves at the expense of US taxpayers? Oh, and BTW, the Royal Family does not run the country so the comparison is completely offbase; they are merely "window dressing" who take money for "just being there".

Also, to put things in a better perspective, Britain is more like a state in the US; it's population is only 61.1 million — the size of California and Texas combined — that leaves approx. 239,000,000 people — 48 more states. The US is approx a little less than 1/2 the population of all of Europe, so comparing the cost of the British monarchy (who, again, don't run the country) to the US is nothing more than trying to spread false impressions to those who don't/won't look up the stats.

This article claims that 1.4 billion is spend only for Obama family's "staffing, housing, flying and entertaining". So it doesn't include "run the country". Based on your logic, Obama should only spent about 281.5 million, not 1.4 billion, which is about 5 times more than your logic allows. As for the Medicare fraud recovery, isn't it government's job to prevent and recover the money lost due to fraud? If it's government's job, why praise it merely just for doing it's job? If it can generate more revenue (not through taxes or fees) than money lost through fraud, then it probably deserve some praise.
As for self-enriching congress politics, they deserved to be criticized and corrected the same way as this Administration's spending does.
As for the previous president's spending, he spend in the name of nation security and justice. But Obama spend in the name of …, you fill in the blank.

There may less people, but 1/2 of ours don't work, they r living on WELFAIR n r also, under Obama living better them taxpayers. Taxpayers should never have to pay for benifits for others better then what they can afford for themselves. That is Crime!

The excuse of always blaming the previous president is a redundant argument…Is there any president that left office better than they received it? We can thank ourselves for allowing one president after another to run our country further into oblivion and into a hole so deep that there is no solution following the current methods of running the country. If we dont start somewhere and drop our apathetic lazy ways- we will only continue to fall. The first week in office, Obama ran the deficit up almost another 5,000,000,000,000.00 TRILLION to now over 20 Trillion. We cant even afford to pay the exponentially growing deficit we have. If America manages to not add another cent to the deficit, and we survive, what……? another dozen generations or so, America rose to greatness on the hard work, manufacturing, producing of the entire nation. Now 1/2 our nation lives off of the gov./ the other half. Weve exported just about every job you can imagine to Mexico and China. The average income earning Americans financials are not much better. Most americans are so in debt they too will spend the rest of their lives paying interest, debt and taxes………………….So Mr. Friggin Obama can add whatever he wants because other presidents have done so? NARCISSISM ABOUNDS!!!!

i understand your points but still feel it is hypocritical of the president to give speeches about how he is trying to help the middle class when he is, in part, a big part of the problem.

This article is so good it should be linked on the front page of Drudge Report for everyone to see.

Are you for real? I'm not a huge Obama fan but if you did Geography, you'd know that Britain is smaller than one state in US (which, don't be fooled is a continent within a continent). If USA was the size of GB, Obama would probably spend less than half what was spent on the royal family.

Obumbler just a poor kid from Indonesia. "Barry Soetoro" never thought he would get kicked upstairs by George Soros & DNC elites. Otherwise Barry never would have gone to school as a foriegn exhange student!
I am tellin ya. It is going to come out. Barry will be out office come November. Then maybe someone at Columbia can release his transcripts…(like Kerry..). But unlike Kerry, Obumbler's grades are not the issue…when we find out he attended school as froeign exchnage student…well people might have be confused…"the anointed one" games the system for his own benefit. Now that aint gonna look good in the history books…but i guess being the "black Jimmy Carter" is not good for one's resume either.

Why aren't those thieves in jail? If you steal a few hundred dollars, you'll be tried with a felony, and these rats steal billions in taxpayer dollars and get away with it.

  • Bellatroll

As pointed out by LGF the truth is more like this:

    • Bush White House 2008: $1,592,875,254
    • Obama White House 2011: $1,400,000,000
    • Net Savings Under Obama: $192,875,254

The comparison of Royal family and the president of the USA is laughable. They're not even remotely comparable institutions.

    • Notwithmymoney

You are right. Obama is far more Imperial…………

The royal family costs the British tax payers a LOT more than 57 Million. The difference is that the "royal" family and all their perks are so institutionalized that most costs associated with them have long since been wrapped into the national budget and are not broken out, nor identified directly with the royal family. The only real difference is that they have had hundreds of years practice hiding the true costs……..

  • rickcarufel

Another Lame attempt by the Republican'ts to blame Obama. Obama and family did not cost $1.4 billion. The office of the Presidency did. It would have cost the same whoever was president.

  • Obama Lover – Ha!!

Obama is what the US deserves and he will do everything to destroy the US with the blessing of 99.9% of the blacks and new citizens (except the Russians immigrates) – I am from the sickest liberal city in the US – Seattle. Obama and the citizens pay no attention to his lack of interest in the decline of the US – anyone with values and a family should be very concerned. More taxes, less freedom, more controls is all we can expect.

  • Moot

Dollars are worth less today…. So even though he spent less… He really didn't.

  • http://twitter.com/ochimp1 @ochimp1

Obongo and his tribe are leeches and parasites looting the US treasury 24/7, Said a WH insider anonymously. Money looted so far: 10 Trillion dollars. Jobs created _0_

  • Ming

Yet nobody ever complained about Bush Jr's $300,000 a year personal spiritual adviser that was paid for with taxpayer money.

  • dujac

…the dog handler fee was the same for Bush as it was Obama.

But more importantly, when you compare the total cost of the whole white house fiscal year across presidencies, you don’t see much of a change. In 2008 Bush spent 1.6 billion in his fiscal year

One can tell this is cut-and-paste, only the stuff that is supposed to hammer him. No attribution in the first graf, then "Gray" in the second. Thankfully many people see through this smear.

  • kathleen

Nice – Why should we pay for their dog – I can bearly buy my dogs food. They really stink & really taking advantage of the taxpayer. Nice for a community organizer who never had fiscal responsibilies in his life.
Great way to impress kids with his “giving” appearance.

Hmmm I guess Americans could careless what this dictator spends for vacations
