Obama Appoints Iran Lobbyist to Investigate Libyan Consulate Attack

In other news, Iran’s nuclear program will be investigated by the first guy over the wall into the Benghazi consulate. The good news is that weeks later the FBI is finally in the consulate gathering such vital forensic evidence as can be used to establish that the consulate was indeed attacked. Meanwhile the State Department investigating panel will be headed up by Thomas J. Pickering.

Pickering has had an extensive diplomatic career and is known for a lot of things. One of them is serving on the board of the American-Iranian Council. The AIC is a problematic organization because while it has more credibility than the NIAC, the National Iranian American Council which is a straight front for the Iranian government, it’s still a group basically dedicated to pushing the Iranian agenda.

The AIC is technically not a lobbying group, but it’s a place where prominent politicians and officials stop by. Its president, Hooshang Amirahmadi, was a registered candidate in Iran’s presidential election. And the AIC has been described as an unofficial lobby for Iran and Hooshang has made that unofficial title more official during a visit to Iran.

“There is clash between various regional [Middle East] lobbies.  Israelites will fast gather around Obama . Arabs will also spend their money to get close to Obama. Unfortunately, Iran is very lonely in Washington, and those few, like us, who defend the Iranian rights, are subject of unkind hostility in Tehran.   These gentlemen [in Iran] do not truly understand what they do, and how they weaken our position.  As a result the field is left wide open for Israelis and Arabs and enemies of Iran.  Firstly, Iran should realize that, and empower its friends in Washington, especially in the next one to two months, which is the time [to do it].

Iranian leaders should pay attention to what is going on, and strengthen their friends.  They [Iranian leaders] should have confidence in, energize, and trust their friends [in Washington] so they enter the arena.  This is very important.  Therefore the next two or three months are the time to conquer Obama’s heart and mind and that of his teams.  Anyone who acts faster will rest trouble free for the next 8 years. Anyone who does not go to that bazaar [marketplace] now, will have a tough time entering that bazaar in future.”

Thomas Pickering is still a member of the honorary board of the AIC, which is a conflict of interest when investigating a terrorist incident that Iran is probably not involved in, but that it is not outside the realm of possibility that it might have been a factor in.

The Center for Security Policy’s Claire Lopez has described Thomas Pickering as part of the Iran lobby and Pickering has taken the lead in opposing any attack on Iran’s nuclear program. The question is what else has he adopted the Iranian line on?

Hooshang Amirahmadi, the head of the AIC, has said, “Unfortunately, a large part of the problems between Iran and the US are not based in reality, but are based on myths. The problem of terrorism is a true myth. Iran has not been involved in any terrorist organization. Neither Hezbollah nor Hamas are terrorist organizations.”

One wonders if Thomas Pickering shares Hooshang Amirahmadi’s view of Islamic terrorism?

If Obama wins, Pickering should be appointed as Secretary of State. I predict that in three months this entire farcical and fictitious Iranian nuclear problem would be resolved.

But, if Obama appoints Susan Rice, it will be the height of folly and we will have four more years of bickering with Rice exclaiming every day of the week, "Iran is not meeting its international obligations." She is simply hilarious.

Yes, and the path to global nuclear war will be well-established with Iran soon threatening everyone.

    Boom!!! Surprise! Teeheehee.

F Iran and its lying apologists.

You are an imbecile. F* you.

      • objectivefactsmatter

I must reconsider my position now that you've explained your position so clearly. I guess Pickering the Shia Muslim rat should be Secretary of State. Iran should have nukes, and unrestricted access to US weapons technology. Why not? What could go wrong?

What else can the USA do for the poor victims in Iran? How far would you like us to bend over?

Wake up. It will never happen. You deceive nobody.

        • quinterius

You are uneducated imbecile as I said. Who cares what you think?!

          • objectivefactsmatter

Let's just agree we've both revealed our thinking here. If you want a straight explanation because sarcasm doesn't always communicate clearly one's position, I am happy to offer that to you. Somehow I sense it won't get through to you. If you want to live up to your own talk of "uneducated" versus, I guess you are implying that in contrast you are educated(?), go for it. You haven't revealed this here.

            Here's your original statement:

If Obama wins, Pickering should be appointed as Secretary of State. I predict that in three months this entire farcical and fictitious Iranian nuclear problem would be resolved.

But, if Obama appoints Susan Rice, it will be the height of folly and we will have four more years of bickering with Rice exclaiming every day of the week, "Iran is not meeting its international obligations." She is simply hilarious.

Rice is hilarious, but not for that line. You are probably a moron, if I am to judge you by what I read here. Therefore you calling me "uneducated" is flattering. Thanks. I wear that as a badge of honor coming from liberals and Muslims.

when i worked at Boeing, and he was a board member (sometime back in 2004), i approached his office to ask him to setup a meeting whereby Reza Pahlavi could come to Boeing and deliver a speech, being that his father's regime was such a good ally of Boeing. He refused, and then and there i knew he does not have the interest of Iran or its people but rather his own, the rest is history for him as he was able to get close to Iranian organizations and am sure to profit for himself. All of this was by the way with consultation with the late Ambassador Hume Horan (more about him on (www.ghaffaris.com) who was a good friend of Tom Pickering and suggested that I approach him and solicit his support for Reza Pahlavi call for referendum in Iran.

Reza Pahlavi is living on the billions that his father stole from Iran. He is a useless jerk. He should not be given the time of day.

As an Iranian-American and one of the millions of victims of the regime, I have always warned the world about a threat of mullahs and advocated secular democratic regime change by the people of Iran as the only alternative to an inevitable war and the growing rise of IRI backed terrorism. The Iranian people need strong moral support from the free world to succeed and these lobbyists have always opposed aiding the pro-democracy Iranians and instead pushed for appeasement and negotiations with mullahs and their terror proxies.

Mr. Greenfiled, please someresearch, before you claim that AIC is not a lobby organization or that it is more credible than NIAC. Both organizations advocate for favorable poilices towards the criminal mullahs, both NIAC and AIC do not think Hezbollah and Hamas are terrorist organizations, both are against sanctions to protect mullahs and IRGC's pocket books, the are here to ensure regime survival and flow of oil from Iran, ignore blatant human rights violations, but serve different factions within the Islamic Republic.

Contd … If the regime is so lonely in Washington, how come administration after administration (Democratic or Republican) have been appeasing the regime for the past 33 years? Could it be that the lonely regime channels money through its intermediairies to Washington's corrupt and naiive politicans such as Mike Hondas, MC dermotts, and Jim Morans? Pickering is a misguided pro Iran stooge and in bed with the mullahs and the fact that he serves on both NIAC and AIC boards, should speak volumes about where his loyalties are, and oh by the way, Judge Bates, just recently referred to Trita Parsi, presdient of NIAC as "semi-inteeligent agent of the regime. Now you connect the dots.

    • quinterius

You are deranged. And, who sponsors you to put all this garbage on these pages? Are you a member of MKO?

"If the regime is so lonely in Washington, how come administration after administration (Democratic or Republican) have been appeasing the regime for the past 33 years? "

There are a number of theories, and probably all of them have at least some grain of truth.

The Shia vs. Sunni angle always causes great pause about what to do, and then more short-sighted goals seem more prudent to deal with, and that becomes the strategy via distraction from the bigger picture. I say go in strong and bring a Japanese-style constitution to any nation that gives us just cause to act against them. Iran has given us this just cause many times over. From here it seems like the biggest hindrance are the liberals in the USA and Europe.

Every US Senator, Congressman and media source should be outraged and be asking Obama and the State Department to thoroughly explain this decision. This is exactly the kind of Obama and Clinton nonsense that has gotten our troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have an FBI for Investigations and do not need IRI apologist doing their work for them. Citizens should call their Senators and Congressman Monday and give them hell about this.

  • Tracie

Kinda like the FOX minding the HEN house!!!!

  • flier10

So Obama has appointed an Islamic apologist/sympathizer to “investigate” the Benghazi affair?
Why is anyone surprised? Obama has surrounded himself and installed Islamists throughout his administration, and he frequently welcomes individuals and groups with ties to radical jihadist groups into the White House. So no big surprise that Thomas Pickering, a man with ties to the Iranian regime, is Obama’s choice to search out “truth” in Libya.
Pickering has ties to CAIR, NIAC, and the organization, International Crisis Group, a George Soros group.
Nothing like getting a NEUTRAL third party to investigate, like asking the fox to guard the henhouse don’t you think?
Obama should be tried for TREASON.
Another 4 years of Obama and his jihadist minions, and the United States will cease to exist.
