Pakistan Outlaws Cheap Calling Rates Because They Promote “Vulgarity”

Pakistan has ordered mobile phone companies to ban cheap, late-night calling rates because they allegedly promote vulgarity among young men and women, officials said Wednesday.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said it asked companies to suspend attractive night-time rates in keeping with government policy.

“We have issued the directive to all the mobile telephone companies to shelve night call packages. The step was taken after lengthy discussions,” PTA spokeswoman Malahat Rab told AFP.

“These directives are issued in the light of the government decisions and this decision has also been taken by the government,” she said.

Members of parliament also demanded action.

“We strongly object to the night phone packages and recommended that the PTA either fix a time limit for this facility or ban it,” said Kalsoom Perveen, who heads the committee in the upper house of parliament that made the recommendation.

LOL WHUT. Last I heard, "1-900" numbers still cost an arm and a leg and are in no way affected by low phone rates.

Oh, private calls between individuals? It's none of their business, not that they ever acknowledged that.

Not 900 numbers (porn or whatever) but men speaking directly to women before being nursed by them.

"Oh, private calls between individuals? It's none of their business, not that they ever acknowledged that."

But cross-gender phone calls? Do you realize the implications? Allah will strike me down for allowing it! We can't have that at all. That's almost as bad as campy history films about Mo.

You sure hurt my religious feelings today. I need to go kill someone.

I know, i was being sarcastic about the 900 numbers.

Pierre Eliott Trudeau once said, "The State has no business in the bedrooms of the Nation." Pakistan should not only learn that but extend that to its phone lines as well. They make the Puritans look like Planned Parenthood in comparison.

"I know, i was being sarcastic about the 900 numbers."

Well, I think they did outlaw those too, but a long time ago.

"Pierre Eliott Trudeau once said, "The State has no business in the bedrooms of the Nation." Pakistan should not only learn that but extend that to its phone lines as well. They make the Puritans look like Planned Parenthood in comparison."

Any Muslim who made any similar statement would be killed as an apostate. This is a nice illustration of just how impossible it is for the West to coexist with Islam.

It's a wonder that Muslimahs don't kill themselves at age nine.

We don't know how many do. Many parents don't even count how many daughters they have. They only count sons.

They also rarely have a chance to do anything of their own accord aside from breathing.
