Qatar Helps Muslim Brotherhood Come to Power, Muslim Brotherhood Buys Qatari Gas at 3 Times the Price

You didn’t think that this was just about religion, did you? Sure Qatar and the Brotherhood are Islamists, but Islamism is an ideology and behind all ideology is old-fashioned greed and lust for power. Qatar was a major player in the Arab Spring and the overthrow of Mubarak and the rise of the Brotherhood.

Speaking of greed, Egypt is going from a gas exporter to a gas importer and it will be buying Qatari gas at the highest possible price.

Whatever money Qatar invested in the Arab Spring is about to be repaid at a very healthy profit.

Egypt has announced that it has changed from a gas-exporting to a gas importing country based on a decision issued by the Petroleum Minister that went into effect on 17 December.

Petroleum expert Medhat Youssef said the decision was “unprecedented,” especially as Egypt would import gas from international companies in Qatar, not the Qatari government. The import price is expected to reach US$14 per 1 million thermal units, whereas the government sells gas to factories for no more than $4.

The Egyptian government exports gas to Jordan at $5.50 per one million units, while Qatar exports it at more than $9, Youssef said, arguing that Egypt administers its petroleum supply poorly and should reconsider prices.

I don’t see that happening.

It doesn’t cost that much to overthrow a government in the Middle East. Al Jazeera, Qatar’s propaganda network, probably operates at a profit. The money that Qatar sank into the Muslim Brotherhood isn’t that big by comparison.

And if Qatar wins in Syria, expect its new Muslim Brotherhood regime to have a hankering for Qatari gas.

"Qatar was a major player in the Arab Spring and the overthrow of Mubarak and the rise of the Brotherhood."

Barack Hussein Obama II aided with American tax dollars was a major player, and the dollar still is.

So what exactly are we reading hear, that Egypt is buying gas at US$14 but others are getting it cheaper. Beneath all of this smells of extortion by Egypt to Jordan, and others that it exports to. Also, higher prices for the average Egyptian household. Not sure if this will effect other Middle East nations, or Europe, but something is smells funny here.
