Romney 48,546,274, Obama 48,395,349 (LIVE)

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

Romney takes North Carolina,  Missouri, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, South Dakota, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Indiana, South Carolina, West Virginia and Kentucky. Obama gets DC, Vermont, Minnesota, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Illinois, California and Maine.

And if you’re wondering why I’m emphasizing the popular vote, it’s because winning that represents a moral victory and a popular rebuttal of the Obama agenda.

The election is currently being called for Obama. We’ll see if that holds.

  • Mary Sue

Yeah, any state that is more than willing to elect one socialist in recent history (Bernie Sanders) is in the tank for Obama for sure. Is there something in the water (or the maple syrup) in Vermont? It's like they've got Quebec Disease.

  • objectivefactsmatter

    "Romney 1,675,448, Obama 1,581,465 (LIVE)"

It shouldn't be that close. Even if Romney wins, I'm sad for the stupidity of so many people.

  • erica

MO almost always goes Romney ,as does TN & OK.

    • Mary Sue

It's not those places we have to worry about.

I'm thinking the black panthers parked in front of polling stations have quite possibly scared away some romney voters…

      • Daniel Greenfield

Voter fraud, extensive voter fraud, no doubt played a large part.

        • http://surfitnicaragua.com John

Hope the political right machine has the assets to expose it – They will be up against the political left machine , which has a hundred years more experience and appetite for cheating and the cover up .

    • tagalog

You mean they voted for Romney in, say, 1936? Or in 1960?

  • victoria in san diego

this election is a defining moment for our nation.
i am saying my prayers right now.

  • Mary Sue

Let's just hope Ohio isn't filled with idiots this year. Or that Wisconsin isn't. Preferably both.

    • Snorbak

Seems your hope was in vein, unfortunately.

  • popseal

    I need a drink……………..or two! GEAUX Romney

  • Mary Sue

Sun News (which my brother calls "republican news" even though it's on the wrong side of the border for that) is a bit pessimistic.

    • Daniel Greenfield

I'm a bit pessimistic, but trying to stay hopeful. Game isn't over yet.

      • Mary Sue

Yeah, I just wonder how long we'll have to wait to get a final result out of the swing states and whether we'll need a Rule of 5 to determine it.

  • Luis

    the news aren't good :-(

    Luis

    • Daniel Greenfield

Not good. But the full picture isn't in yet

      • Mary Sue

according to Sun News it's looking closer in Ohio…

        • Daniel Greenfield

          Yes

    • tagalog

      But the new IS good?

  • expat

You took some heat for that last blog post, but it looks like you were right – unfortunately.

    • Daniel Greenfield

I've never tried to sell people on a landslide. Those bloggers who did have their own responsibility for that.

      • Daniel Greenfield

Realism is better than false optimism.

        • objectivefactsmatter

"Realism is better than false optimism"

That's supposed to be the conservative motto.

          • Daniel Greenfield

Nah. The motto is back establishment RINOs, then blast them when they fail, and repeat.

          • Mary Sue

Seriously they need to clean house in the Republican party. I know it's supposed to be a Big Tent but geez, these RINOs are dragging everything down.

        • http://www.adinakutnicki.com Adina Kutnicki, Israel

And this realistic blogger has the following to say, regarding D Day in America – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/11/07/the-day-liber

          It requires little edifying.

  • Nobama Yo Mamma

I think whoever wins the election will regret it soon enough.

  • expat

"Realism is better than false optimism." Yeah, absolutely. But a lot of people are in "think positive" mode. Ostriches do that sometimes. I don't think it works out too well for them.

    • Daniel Greenfield

There was a cheerleader momentum going

      • expat

Sure, and nothing wrong with that as far as it goes. It’s not like realizing things might not turn out well would change anything. Mitt was the inevitable candidate – you called that as well – and I think he and his machine put up a pretty good fight. More than pretty good.

The blame belongs to the people that made bad choices – as always.

        • Daniel Greenfield

Yes the machine was excellent. But it's no match for the Dem machine which is taxpayer funded and has millions of built in followers.

  • http://oldschooltwentysix.blogspot.com/ oldschooltwentysix

It's over. Bottom line is that nothing has changed. Obama is better at running than governing. Identity politics works.

    • Daniel Greenfield

Then maybe it's time we went with identity politics too.

      • objectivefactsmatter

We've got to collectively counter collectivism.

      • http://oldschooltwentysix.blogspot.com/ oldschooltwentysix

Don’t know about “we.” I did not vote for President this time and there is plenty of spite and incompetency on the Republican side as well. That’s the rub.

Playing the identity game is a prescription for disaster for us all. These groups may have voted for Obama because of cynical politics that takes them for granted, especially when it comes to the spoils.

I wish Obama the best at getting a handle on things, but have a feeling he will continue in much the same manner and we will tread water for the next four years, with both sides spitting poison at one another.

        • objectivefactsmatter

"I wish Obama the best at getting a handle on things"

If Obama wins and becomes more competent, that may mean worse destruction for the USA and the world.

          • http://oldschooltwentysix.blogspot.com/ oldschooltwentysix

More competency means finding solutions that reduces polarization. As to what occurs in the world, we are not alone in ignoring the threats that face us, but there is already signs that people are waking up.

    • expat

First time I saw the expression "Free stuff or free-dom" was in one of Daniel's posts, then it went viral.

I guess that is what it comes down to now just about everywhere – not just the USA. Get your supposedly free stuff before it runs out as well and to hell with considering what the real cost is gonna be.

      • Daniel Greenfield

Oh the free stuff will never run out, it will just be carefully rationed. As will everything else. And the only place to get higher quality free stuff, like basic medications or decent food, will be the black market.

      • objectivefactsmatter

It's about which free you want, no cost or zero to minimal restrictions.

      • http://oldschooltwentysix.blogspot.com/ oldschooltwentysix

These groups will certainly have expectations and expect Obama to deliver. When he cannot, then what will happen. I think the Republicans will do well in the midterms, even if they do not change, but they need to change to be successful in changing the dynamic.

    • mlcblog

I like what Greenfield says, that the popular vote in favor of Romney is a moral rebuttal of O. That part does feel good.

      • Mary Sue

The problem is how stacked the blue states are. Republicans leave them in droves, causing them to be even MORE stacked. Seriously, we need a Republican invasion of California and Ohio and New York or something.

  • Guest

Dick Morris' name is M-U-D.I remember Rush saying back in the '90s,that he didn't rust anything he says. He's been wrong about 99% of anything. And after his prediction for this? If I were at FOX ,I'd fire him immediately.

    • Daniel Greenfield

Dick Morris is hardly the only one who gave the people what they wanted. Most of them did.

      • Ricky Michael

You sir are very correct. I wanted to hear and believe what they said, but the tone of the Repubs of the campaign told me that hope has been dashed. They knew what was coming.

  • Mary Sue

gotta laugh at the idiots calling wisconsin, walking it back, then calling it again, it's STILL really too close to call (7000 vote difference) and Brian Lilley was all "What are they smoking?"

  • Mary Sue

Sun news confirming what I suspected. They don't count early or absentee ballots until AFTER they count the live ones. ROMNEY HANG IN THERE! Wait til those are counted!

  • Mary Sue

Sun News just called the whole entire race for Obama.

  • Questions

Moral victories don't count. It's like an NFL team making it to the Super Bowl for the very first time but losing, and then pasting a fake smile during a consolation ticker tape parade. It won't ease the frustration of having lost.

To my fellow conservatives who insisted that Romney would win easily and that Obama was toast, I say grow up already and stop living in denial. As the white share of the electorate continues to fall with each passing election cycle, the GOP's chances for recapturing the White House grow dimmer. We'll win when we stop pretending that blacks, Asians and Hispanics are our friends and all we have do to win is "reach out" to them. How about reaching out to the whites for a change — while we're still a majority?

Until we recognize the primacy of race, all the Tea Parties in the world will be useless, utterly useless.

  • Lillith66

Goodbye America, it was great while it lasted.

  • Mary Sue

The problem is the Left seems to poison the well among minorities as to the Republicans and the Right in general. They have many of them convinced that Republicans are just plain freaking evil. :(

    • fightwarnotwars

Thanks for proving my point Questions, that Republicans are in fact racist, evil, selfish and superstitious loons, that's why you'll never take the White House again, unless you grow up.

      • objectivefactsmatter

"Thanks for proving my point Questions, that Republicans are in fact racist, evil, selfish and superstitious loons"

        Really? How?

        With this?

"As the white share of the electorate continues to fall with each passing election cycle, the GOP's chances for recapturing the White House grow dimmer. We'll win when we stop pretending that blacks, Asians and Hispanics are our friends and all we have do to win is "reach out" to them. How about reaching out to the whites for a change — while we're still a majority?"

While I may not agree with him, he's giving up on ignoring liberal collectivism and uses the resulting liberal racism as an example of why he advocates a change. Wait, you're not racist because you're classifying groups of victims to "help" them, right?

Obama is the biggest racist to ever win the Whitehouse.

"that's why you'll never take the White House again"

Well let me see…if Obama fails to learn anything (and winning an election proves nothing about the candidate), what will people say about his 2-term record in 2016? That's if he doesn't make it worse with that extra flexibility he's been waiting for.

You swine can gloat all you want. but it doesn't prove anything about your arguments other than how popular your fantasies are. Star Wars was pretty big too, but it's best when you can tell the difference between fact and fantasy. By definition, Obama supporters can't.

Imagine the nerve of conservatives for thinking of their country rather than getting free handouts for themselves. What crazy "loons."

By the way, every liberal I ever knew was a total loser. It's why they defend the supposed victims. They can only imagine the reasons why they always lose must be the fault of the "other guys." There are lots of losers in America today, and we can change that if you liberals will simply look in the mirror and listen to alternative fact-based arguments. See what you can learn about economics and the true history of Western civilization. Stop listening to complete phonies like the man in the Whitehouse.

        • fightwarnotwars

          go take a nap grandpa.

          • Justme

            Well, you sure told him.

          • objectivefactsmatter

Wow. You've really cleared things up about your sophisticated view on American politics. Maybe the liberals are the smart ones? Maybe we just need to be more patient to hear the more comprehensive plans they've got to heal the oceans and fix the economy and so forth.

It would have been great if their had never been any other party, because there'd be nobody else to blame and nobody else to be compared to. Liberals love dreaming, how do you like that one?

Retard. Like I said, forget about IDs to vote. We should require on-the-spot IQ testing before anyone casts their single vote.

          • Mary Sue

            grow up, kid.

      • Mary Sue

You don't know what you're talking about. You wouldn't know "evil" if it came and bit you on the behind. Racism is an overused false canard by the democrats since forever, it's a stale talking point that only whackos believe.

THe real selfish people are the ones that vote themselves more free money while their neighborhoods decay around them.

And I have no idea what you mean by superstitious.

  • Mary Sue

Irony: when Algore was winning the popular vote and lost the electoral vote he whined it wasn't fair.

  • MovingToMars

Hitler won Germany's vote, Chamberlain won England's vote and America saved them from their stupidity. Now who will save America?

    • Mary Sue

      canada

    • tagalog

      Hopefully not Red China.

  • Mary Sue

    what did she do?

  • Mary Sue

    I heard Romney just conceded.

    • objectivefactsmatter

      Time for impeachment.

      • Mary Sue

good luck with that, and I mean it. THe senate's shaping up to be status quo. They'd never actually impeach obama.

        • objectivefactsmatter

"good luck with that, and I mean it. THe senate's shaping up to be status quo. They'd never actually impeach obama."

Well assuming no more evidence comes to light, I still think that given enough time people will get pissed off when they realized they supported a loser for the wrong reasons. People often get caught up in the fight, and elections will do that even to voters.

Once they realize what they "won" it might be harder to support the loser in chief in the cold light of day as people process facts. It takes time for people to wake up, and while I can wish it came sooner, it won't stop just because he was reelected. When his "flexibility" comes out and the mask slips even further, I have hopes that more people will wake up.

We also have to keep attacking the mainstream media. During those times in between elections they should be our primary target while monitoring the lies and cover-ups in the Whitehouse.

So in response to your statement about the Senate, I understand the problems but some senators may feel compelled to abandon Obama. Maybe we can get rid of Reid quickly somehow too, or in preparation for a fair impeachment hearing.

          • Mary Sue

It would have to be pretty egregious. Right now it's stacked up so that Obama is still their Golden Boy.

I guess 4 years of BS BO wasn't enough to make it seem like a repeat of the Carter years to those old enough to remember them. And the ones that are, either went senile or got outnumbered by stupid kids that have no idea what happened 30 years ago and aren't willing to learn. Kids who come out of high school with young skulls full of congealing mush, their minds poisoned with the political correctness of Gender/Ethnic studies and NDP-type teachers running the show. If these kids don't smarten up you guys have a real problem.

  • Mary Sue

Personally I think Romney may be a victim of voter fraud. Someone I know thinks it's the Mormon thing.
