Romney Leads 7 Percent Among Early Voters

This is good news but also a warning sign that the election remains close. Sure a landslide would be fun for the whole family, but don’t get fooled into thinking that Romney will be announced as the winner after a 5 second pause. This election is still a fight and as long as it’s within stealing distance, every single vote counts.
In the poll, conducted Oct. 24-28, 19% of likely voters say they have already voted; that is unchanged from the same week in the 2008 campaign (Oct. 23-26, 2008).Currently, Romney holds a seven-point edge among early voters (50% to 43%); because of the small sample, this lead is not statistically significant. At this point four years ago, Obama led John McCain by 19 points (53% to 34%) among early voters. “
It’s not statistically insignificant, early voting leads tend to be enthusiasm signposts. A lead here means that there is a greater degree of commitment for one candidate. That was true in 2008 and it’s true in 2012.
Romney is ahead on enthusiasm and passion. But Obama still leads with those who are afraid of losing money and power if he loses.
