Taliban Attack Destroys Six Harrier Jets at 180 Million Dollar Cost

This is yet another disaster in Obama’s failed war in Afghanistan and it also gives the lie to the notion that these worldwide coordinated attacks timed at around September 11 were due to popular outrage because of a movie. The media talking heads still spewing that nonsense in their way on free speech are engaging in criminally irresponsible reporting and are covering up the real scope of events.

At least two U.S. Marines were killed in the brazen strike late on Friday, and six jets were destroyed, ISAF said as it released more details about the raid. Well-trained, well-rehearsed fighters carried out the sustained assault in Helmand province, ISAF said.

About 15 insurgents organized into three teams penetrated the base’s perimeter fence and did considerable damage, destroying six refueling stations and damaging six aircraft hangars. The attackers toted automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and suicide vests.

They destroyed six AV-8B Harrier jets and damaged two others before the attack ended, the coalition said.

This is a disaster. It’s also a black eye for the management of the war. And it again completely discredits the idea being put out by the Obama Campaign that there is a steady withdrawal plan underway that will leave Afghanistan secure. That is clearly not the case.

Obama’s Afghanistan surge has failed badly and cost the lives of thousands of Americans. It’s time for the lapdog media to begin asking him some serious questions about his plans for Afghanistan, the way they would have if he were a Republican.

But instead the media insists on reporting ridiculous lies like these

Afghanistan’s Taliban claimed responsibility on Saturday for an attack on a base which U.S. officials said killed two American Marines, saying it was in response to a film that insults Mohammad

Was an attack that required extensive knowledge of the base, US uniforms and specially trained personnel really put together and carried out in a few days… especially considering that the Taliban had threatened to kill Prince Harry a while back and were aiming for him?

These lies are becoming ridiculous and the media is using free speech to undermine the right of free speech for others. This is a dangerous course of action that will backfire on it sooner or later.

Charge the Afghan government against their "aid." We must make criminals pay. Sovereigns are not sovereign if they can't enforce rule of law. I guess we are the only sovereigns in the middle east greater area.

Your quote is misleading. It was not "U.S. officials" who claimed the attack was in response to the film. It was a spokesman for the Afghan militant group claiming credit for the attack. That spokesman said the attack was instigated by the film AND the desire to kill Capt. Wales. The media reported what the spokesman said — which is what the media are supposed to do. Your criticism is baseless.

But while a proper journalist would report the statement, they should have ridiculed it for the obvious falsehood that it is. But since that lie fits the needs of the leftist, biased press, it was allowed to pass undisputed.

Also, the comment if you read it correctly, does not say that the statement came from US Officials, but has been worded to make it APPEAR that it came from them. More biased journalism.

You may wish to re read the quote….since you apparently had difficulty understanding it the first time. It’s obvious Obama has a fantasy land view of his “plan” which is to bug out, casualties notwithstanding.

Excuse me, but what was UN Amb. Rice doing on every Sunday talk show but blaming Muslim rioting everywhere on the putative film? You need to leave your computer station in the basement of the WH every once in a while and catch a breath of fresh air!

  • Obama is to blame

Yes, this attack is Obama's failure…. just like it was George Bush's failure when when thousands of Americans died in coordinated attacks on America on September 11, 2001, in which several planes were also lost.

But I agree with you that this latest attack is yet another failure in "Obama’s failed war in Afghanistan." Obama has been inept at running this war since he began it back in 2001. Oh wait, he didn't start it, the previous administration did.

But Obama has conducted the Afghan War like a clueless clown. He has been so incompetent, that at one point, way back in 2001, we knew almost for certain where bin Laden was hiding. bin Laden was in the mountains of Tora Bora, and US troops were ready to go get him. Unfortunately, Obama showed his incompetence by choosing to send a ragtag bunch of Afghan soldiers, many of whom were probably sympathetic to bin Laden, to capture bin Laden. bin Laden escaped.

Oh wait, my mistake, that colossal failure of judgment happened under George Bush, who decided to send in the Afghan "soldiers," instead of vastly more qualified US troops.

In any event, bin Laden would remain free for the next nine and-a-half years, until George Bush finally approved a mission to go after him when intelligence had a good idea where bin Laden was hiding. bin Laden was killed in that raid.

Oh, sorry, it was Obama that approved the raid that finally killed bin Laden. George Bush is the guy who let him get away back in 2001.

To be fair, though, Obama was president early in 2002 when he said that going after bin Laden really wasn't on his agenda, and he didn't spend much time on bin Laden.

Wait a sec, why am I getting so confused? It turns out it was actually George Bush that said that.

I do agree with you that Obama is to blame for the attacks on US personnel and Harrier jets. After all, who expects an enemy to actually attack you during a war, right? And if they have the temerity to attack you, they should never come close to being successful, right? Because other than the couple of thousand who died under George Bush's watch in a single day, on September 11, 2001, there was never another US casualty while Bush was in office, right? Not one military person was ever killed while Bush was in charge of the wars, right?
