The Price of a Koran

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

What does a Koran cost? You can get a full color one for the Kindle for only 99 cents, just don’t expect it to feature any pictures of old Mo. If you want to go deluxe, you can get a hardcover edition that runs three different translations side by side for around 40 bucks. But if you want to be more practical about it, the price of a Koran is the lives of six American soldiers.

That butcher’s bill doesn’t count the soldiers who burned the Korans, who despite following procedure will be penalized on orders of the White House which thinks that punishing American soldiers will somehow satisfy the Koran fueled bloodlust of men who aren’t satisfied with their corpses.

The nature of the marketplace of human affairs is that a thing is worth what we will pay for it. Once upon a time Americans decided to pay any price for freedom. The price was high, but they got what they paid for… at least for a season or two. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were works of freedom written in blood. They made a free nation possible because that nation was willing to pay the price for them.

Muslims are equally willing to pay the price in blood for slavery, their own slavery and ours, for a book of slavery, written by an owner and abuser of slaves, who created a religion of slaves, where the optimal position was to stand on as many people as possible while reaching for heaven.

The men who fought to make us free placed value on their lives. The men who fight to enslave us place little value on their own. Whatever material pleasures they enjoy in this life, little girls, hashish and wealth, will be vastly improved upon in the afterlife. And they buy their way into that afterlife by killing us, as they have been doing for over a thousand years.

Each of their murders imposes their religion on us. They impose their notion of what is important and what isn’t important. Twenty years ago no one would have cared a fig for a burned Koran or a cartoon of Mo. Today either one earns you an accusation of endangering the lives of American soldiers and inciting violence. Dress up as Zombie Mohammed and Judge Mark Martin will tell you that in a Muslim country you would get the death penalty. That’s not the way it works here. Yet.

What’s the price of a Koran? Whatever Muslims see fit to charge us for it and whatever our leaders are willing to pay. Not just in lives or ranks of men who were risking their lives in the way that B. Hussein could not even begin to imagine, but in the big picture appeasement.

At the store of international and domestic affairs in Washington DC, Muslims haul up a bunch of corpses and in return we pay them with all sorts of concessions, both tangible and intangible. Cartoons stop appearing in newspapers. Books don’t get printed. Presidents attend Iftar dinners. Muslims get appointed to high positions. NASA gets retooled into a Muslim empowerment agency. And all of that isn’t enough because the blood price never gets paid.

The essence of the vendetta is that it is eternal. It can only be resolved by marriage, by mingling two bloods into a single clan. If we agree to become Muslims, we can be part of their clan. Without that we are forever the targets of their rage, inferior in their minds, yet materially superior, despised in the Koran, but somewhat triumphant in land and wealth. A religious paradox that can only be resolved by subjugating us or by converting us.

    Great article! Spot on! :)

There is a saying in English that don't judge the book by the cover.
And don't try to see the depth of a ocean from the surface.
You don't punish the children because their parents were criminal.

You should not blame Quran or Islam of some Muslim action.
And You should not blame to all Muslim because of some.

It was Muslim that European stop KILLING each other.
And It is Islam that European give up their religion and forming one union.

It is Islam that we have world called civilized, why it was happen after Islam not before.
Please give some credit to Islam if not to Muslim. Islam on earth to help mankind.

please don't judge from your window, try to see from my window as well.
Be positive you can see the dark side itself, but if you are negative you will miss the bright side.

      Come in Islam and judge.
      Never go out of Islam.

Price of a koran? In Afghanistan its at least over 40 human lives.

  • mile

You are delusional. The occupier complaining about the occupied! We invaded their land and burned their religious books and you are complaining! WTF. They have every right to kick our ass out of their country. We've installed a corrupt central govt that won't last a nanosecond after we grab our stuff and leave. Wake up bud.

    • JG Montville

Your stance is justified murder based on what evidence? Who burned what? No votes were cast for the Present (typical corrupt, elite family?) No attacks were planned or created based in Afghanistan? So in your estimation the Religion of Peace get a pass because no one is allowed to defend itself against terror, oppression or other social justice malady of Islam, WTF you still are lost.

    • ASG

"We invaded their land and burned their religious books and you are complaining! WTF."

So when we "invaded their country", did that give them the right to highjack airplanes and fly them into civilian occupied buildings killing over 3,000 of our people? Oh wait, that happened before we "invaded"..

Bow down Dhimmi, Mo will take care of you.

    • Relief

Yes, we "invaded the land" with a gift of $20 billion. But I do want to see USA out of all Islamic countries, and I don't mean just our service men and women, I mean the money too.

    • Alvaro

There is something very wrong with your chronology: Muslims were invading Europe and rioting long before even the first crusade, and certainly long before the USA even existed.

These people who were rioting now were probably the Taliban.

    • http://callofthepatriot.blogspot.com HermitLion

Leave it to an indoctrinated simpleton to call someone who speaks the truth 'delusional'.

I think if one gives others the right to kick asses, he should present his own on the line *first*.

  • http://jc.does-it.net Geneww

Price of the Koran? What price will be paid to have eternal life in Heaven. The followers of the Koran, around the globe, are killing hundreds of Christians who are willing to share how to have the gift of ertenal life by accepting the paymnet of sin that was fully paid for on a cross.
What a shame … lead in darkness by the one who hates whatever God loves and established.

  • kafir4life

It's worth about the price of a roll of cheap toilet paper, and the function is near identical. And it's not because I have a problem with muslims. They're not all terrorists. but the fellow who wrote that terror guide, the pedophile mohamat and inventor of allah and islam was.

  • Rifleman

The question should be, "How many enemy lives does an American life cost?"

If people won't stop one of their own from harming an American out of self interest and fear of what will happen if they don't, we're not doing it right.

  • ObamaYoMoma

With respect to apologizing to Muslims for Koran burnings, first of all, it was totally incompetent for Obama and everyone else to apologize. Instead of apologizing and after first cracking down hard to restore law and order, the Generals should have informed the Afghan people in no uncertain terms that sorry but this is the 21st century and not the 7th century, and that's the problem with Afghanistan and the much wider Islamic world at large, but the USA doesn't apologize for burning Korans or anything else for that matter, and furthermore the USA will not tolerate American troops being attacked and killed in cold blood under any circumstances whatsoever, as any and all riots will be met with all due force necessary to ensure that they are put down immediately and to restore and maintain law and order.

This is the 21st century, how incredibly incompetent can our federal government and military be? I mean after 11 long years, $4 trillion squandered, and thousands of patriotic American troops either killed or maimed all for nothing, our military still can't figure out who the hell our enemy is and at the same time is completely losing control of Afghanistan over stupid Korans being burned no less?

Someone please pinch me! Am I dreaming? Is this really happening? What the hell are we even doing in Afghanistan to begin with if we don't even know who the hell the enemy is? No wonder our federal government is going to hell in a hand-basket and taking us along with them for the ride. Indeed, for all intents and purposes, both political parties in America, the Republicans and the Dhimmicrats, are just two sides of the same incredibly incompetent leftwing coin. Leftism in America has run amuck!

Why is no one calling for the resignation of Leon Panetta? If our military has deteriorated to the point that it can no longer maintain order in a backwards assed 7th century Islamic Sharia state over the burning of Korans no less, then our military is beyond incompetent. Indeed, it couldn't be more obvious that our military has been deliberately dumbed down by the duopoly that controls America.

And that fate will only continue to grow worse as long as you and others like you continue misleading your readers with false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam on a daily basis.

A religious paradox that can only be resolved by subjugating us or by converting us.

The only paradox here is the fact that Islam isn't really a religion. Instead, it is a supremacist theo-political totalitarian ideology that masquerades as being a religion only to dupe the gullible societies it intends to subjugate into a very draconian form of Islamic totalitarianism via the eventual imposition of Sharia for the purpose of stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme. Indeed, misrepresenting Islam as being a religion, is another one of those false and very misleading PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam that you and others like you heap on your readers every day. Meanwhile, like a hypocrite you have the audacity to complain when the inevitable which you help to manifest happens.

    • zemplar

"And that fate will only continue to grow worse as long as you and others like you continue misleading your readers with false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam on a daily basis."

"like a hypocrite you have the audacity to complain when the inevitable which you help to manifest happens."

Er, are you reading the same thing I am? Am I imagining these quotes from you? You think Daniel Greenfield is a PC Multiculturalist? You think Daniel Greenfield heaps "myths and misconceptions about Islam" on his readers? Ha, Ha!

I think you need to read the piece again. This time, bring your brain with you…

      • ObamaYoMoma

It's not that I think it. It's more like I see it contained in his articles almost every day. Indeed, if you can't see it, then it demonstrates the validity of my assertion, as you are a victim of it and as a result also blinded by it. In fact, if you can't even see it, it also sort of reveals that when it comes to Islam at least, you're not the brightest bulb on the Christmas Tree.

Here let me give you an irrefutable example of it: almost every day Mr. Greenfield labels some Muslims as opposed to other Muslims as being Islamists. What are Islamists? Islamists are the same thing as radical Muslims.

Most writers were forced to switch to the term Islamists after most of their readers were objecting and complaining about the use of the term radical Muslims, but nonetheless Islamists and radical Muslims constitute the same exact thing, it's just smoke and mirrors. If you will, a more political correct and less offensive way of saying radical Muslims.

Hence, if you believe in the existence of Islamists, which are also radical Muslims, then it implies that you also believe in the existence of so-called moderate Muslims as well. Thus, more than 10 years later after 9/11 when you should know better by now already, you still believe in the fantasy based notion that GWB proclaimed immediately after 9/11, that Islam is a so-called Religion of Peace™ being hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists.

Meanwhile, two fantasy based nation-building missions in Iraq and Afghanistan that were about as counterproductive and insane as the US lifting up Hitler and the Nazis after WWII, and that were premised on that same exact GWB Religion of Peace™ myth and other false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam, inevitably turned into the two biggest strategic blunders ever in American history. Indeed, I hate to rain on your false PC multicultural parade, but all Muslims are the eternal mortal enemy of all non-Muslim unbelievers in the world.

As a matter of fact, the existence of radical Muslims, extremist Muslims, Islamists, fundamentalist Muslims, moderate Muslims, peaceful Muslims, or whatever, just like the existence of radical Islam, extremist Islam, fundamentalist Islam, moderate Islam, peaceful Islam, or whatever, are all false PC multicultural myths. As there are only MAINSTREAM ORTHODOX MUSLIMS and MAINSTREAM ORTHODOX ISLAM. Anything else is a false PC multicultural myth.

Indeed, read above about what I said about Islam being a religion. That is also another false PC multicultural myth. As Islam is a supremacist theo-political totalitarian ideology that masquerades as being a religion to dupe gullible useful idiots.

Hence, my assertion with respect to Mr. Greenfield proliferating false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam is demonstrably true. It's also irrefutable. I could cite many more prescient examples of it, and the reason you don't know better is first of all, you are a victim of it, which is why he needs to stop it, and second of all, your knowledge of Islam isn't up to speed because you are being inculcated by it as well.

My aim is for all Americans to become as astute about Islam as I am. However, that goal will never be accomplished if writers like Mr. Greenfield continue brainwashing their readers with false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam on a daily basis.

        • zemplar

Hold your horses – I already know all that. I'm a paid-up member of the Islamo-realist school for 20 years. I hate to disappoint you, but you're not raining on my PC, multicultural parade, because I don't have one. I've already had it out with too many people for many years over the terms 'islamist'/'radical muslim', and the fact that, like unicorns and fairies, muslim extremists don't exist – they're a figment of the west's imagination. They are doing nothing extreme as far as islam is concerned, but going about the perfectly normal islamic business of killing or trying to kill infidels. And I'll thank you to not lecture me about Islam as if you are berating a child. You don't need to lecture me on what Islam is, especially in the manner in which you are doing it by insulting my intelligence. I know exactly what it is. I've had a relative blown into 1000 pieces by it in Afghanistan.

You needed to make yourself clearer in your original post, rather than make sweeping statements without explaining them. Why didn't you just say what you said above in the first place?

          • ObamaYoMoma

Dude…all I did was respond to you in kind, and if you had paid attention a little closer, you would have seen that I had even provided an example in my first post.

          • Western Canadian

zemplar, don’t waste your time and effort with this blowhard. He is a disgrace to this board, a troll of the lowest order. He is no doubt a NPD case, and should be banned.

          • NorthStar

FYI, Obama Yo Moma said the same thing about Robert Spencer. This is a troll with serious issues who is probably an undercover Muslim.

          • Western Canadian

And another example of the rara avis, the lying loon:

“Dude…all I did was respond to you in kind, and if you had paid attention a little closer, you would have seen that I had even provided an example in my first post.’

Your first post takes a couple of quotes from the author, then you lie about what he has said. Tell me again, what colour is the sky where you live?

        • Western Canadian

A coupld of examples of greenfields “brainwashing’….

“At this point if the media tells you that someone isn’t a Muslim terrorist, the Vegas odds are on the side of him being Osama bin Laden’s right hand man. If the media tells you that an Imam is moderate, run to within 50 feet away to avoid the shrapnel.”

“Who is really distorting Islam? Is Barack Hussein Obama correct that Islam’s vision is being distorted by a few men in caves somewhere, or is Obama the “distorter” of Islam?

Even a brief reading of Islamic history makes the answer all too obvious. It is not Al Qaeda that is distorting Islam, but Obama. And not Obama alone. Liberal elites in the West have firmly dedicated themselves to misrepresenting and distorting Islam, in order to continue Islamic immigration into the West. To filling America, Europe, Canada, Australia and all the rest up, until every little boy is named Mohammed, and every little girl has to cover her face, or have acid thrown in it.

Is the former self-proclaimed “Jakarta street kid” in the White House really ignorant about what Islam represents, or is he playing a double game. It does not take a genius to simply look at the Muslim world, and compare the average level of human rights in it, with the average level of human rights in Christian and Jewish countries, and come to some rather obvious conclusions.

But while liberals assail Judaism and Christianity, condemn America and Israel, their choirs of academics and politicians sing the praises of Islam. If you believe them, then there is nothing wrong with Islam. Just a few black sheep like Al-Awlaki and some bigoted Islamophobes in America. But if that’s the case, then why is the Muslim world so ugly? Why does it mistreat women and minorities? Why does it have the state sponsored murder of gay men? Why does it send Christians to reeducation camps? Why does it adopt the Mein Kampf as a second Koran and preach the murder of Jews?

There is only one answer. There is something rotten in Islam. And for all the poison that Obama may pour into our ears, it is he who is distorting Islam.”

“Pakistani men are prominent in lists of sexual assaults over and over again. In Australia, the Ashfield gang rapes by four Pakistani brothers (whose father perjured himself in court to give them an alibi), their defense was that being Pakistani Muslims gave them the right to rape.

The eldest of four Pakistani gang rapist brothers has admitted lying at trial and apologised to his victims but said he thought he had a right to rape the “promiscuous” teenage girls.

MSK, 27, told the NSW Supreme Court yesterday that this was because the girls did not wear headscarves, were drinking alcohol and were unaccompanied when they went to his Ashfield home.

Here’s a direct quote from the rapist himself, which should give you a terrifying understanding of how Pakistani men think

“She don’t know us, I don’t know her, like she was not related to us and she was not wearing any purdah … like she was not … covered her face, she was not wearing any headscarf and she started drinking with us and she was singing.

His cultural assumption was that a girl whose face is not covered, who sings and drinks has no rights whatsoever. It’s not an unusual assumption. If it was, then Western women wouldn’t have to be afraid of visiting Pakistan.
The legal system in this case and in every case misses the point. MSK is not a rapist, he’s a Pakistani Muslim. In Pakistan rape is not a crime against a person, but against property. The father or the husband’s property. His honor. Pakistani immigrants do not recognize the same notion of equal human rights that Westerners do. You can send them to jail for rape, but you can’t force them to think like the citizens of the free world do.

The values don’t change. They’re embedded in the Koran. Mohammed married Aisha when she was 6. Half Jessie’s age. A girl who reaches puberty is widely considered marriageable in the Muslim world. MSK is confused, the way most Americans would be if they visited a foreign country and in some unclear way offended their hosts. To MSK this is a cultural misunderstanding. And so it is to most Muslim Pakistani men.”

          Ybym is a slandering idiot.

        • Western Canadian

Another example of this raging loons delusions:

“Hence, my assertion with respect to Mr. Greenfield proliferating false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam is demonstrably true. It’s also irrefutable. I could cite many more prescient examples of it, and the reason you don’t know better is first of all, you are a victim of it, which is why he needs to stop it, and second of all, your knowledge of Islam isn’t up to speed because you are being inculcated by it as well.”

Greenfield has done no such thing, and merely uses the term ‘muslims’. You may notice from this small and complete quote, that the loon has a habit of using words he does not know the meaning of….. as well as lying about what the author acutally says. Truly pathetic.

    • Beth

"our military still can't figure out who the hell our enemy is and at the same time is completely losing control of Afghanistan over stupid Korans being burned no less?"

Yeah, OYM…they have so…. figured it out (most of them have).

This is a cultural war, a fact that causes much distain to the willing blind. The 'media giants' refuse to name the enemy (of which it is perfectly clear…even by the very words of the enemy/enemies? themselves). Those who believe they have the right to commit murder…or support those who do for the 'same system'…are strangers…..to those who oppose the acts of murder.

      • Beth

For the simplicity in such understanding…when considering those who sit in seats of authority…who are not able (or willing) to consider the importance in what is taught to our young in order to benefit of all members of society…such as: Don't lie
        Don't steal
        Don't cheat:
        Don't murder:
        Don't you covet…..

Who is the one that would want to have any of those things done to them? That is what makes such rules good for all. This is the foundation that will never fail. It may be smothered from time to time. But it will never fail. The generation that lets it be trashed…is the generation that will pay the price.

  • montlasky

Excellent observations which i doubt are noted in the White House. If the Koran is the guide book rather than a bible of the Muslims, how do the "infidels" fight a philosophy of "choosing death over life" for a promise of paradise and a bunch of virgins? We, the "infidels" love life and hold it sacred. Never can the two beliefs exist side by side. One will have to overcome the other. Let's hope it's us "infidels"!!!

  • davarino

Down here in Texas we have a university called Texas A&M. They used to have a giant bonfire before the football game with UT. The bonfire was huge, several stories tall. You know what would be cool…………just to show em we're not afraid and that we take freedom of speech seriously. We Texans used to like to pick a fight. That would settem off.

Or we could have a president that draws a line in the sand and says "no more"………..ya that aint goin to happen. Lets burn em : )

  • ObamaYoMoma

Indeed, ask yourself why the Imams and the members of the Afghanistan legislature that are inciting hatred and violence against American non-Muslim unbelievers, i.e., patriotic American troops serving in Afghanistan, aren't being arrested and imprisoned?

Ask yourself how the American military became this incredibly incompetent and why neither Republicans nor Dhimmicrats are calling for the resignation of Defense Secretary Leon Panetta that is supposed to be leading our military and is responsible for this monstrosity?

Where is the US news media on this issue? Obviously, they are all part of the same leftwing cabal as the Dhimmicrats and the Republicans. Indeed, both political parties, Republicans and Dhimmicrats, are today virtually identical and are two sides of the same incredibly incompetent leftwing coin. Like throughout Europe, the Left in the USA has managed to acquire a monopoly on power, and the Left is in bed with Islam.

It's also the reason why the the USA remains so ideologically ignorant with respect to the actual threat of Islam. Meanwhile, the USA spends hundreds of billions of dollars on an annual basis at the same time it is on the fast track to financial ruin to continue accommodating mass Muslim immigration with all of its excess baggage, which in reality is really covert and deceptive non-violent jihad for the purpose of infiltration and stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme. Indeed, since the 9/11 violent jihad attacks, the number of mosques in America has more than doubled already! How did that happen? Anyone care to speculate?

Hell, it's also the reason why our children's text books only teach our children a whitewashed version of Islam and a history that is more propaganda than anything else. Like our military already has been dumbed down, our federal government is trying to dumb down our children with respect to Islam, in order to make them as mentally incompetent as the delusional Euroloons are today. Indeed, it's the same exact process that was used to amazing effect throughout Europe. In fact, our generation may be the last sane generation ever in America. Why are the American people deliberately being lied to by our federal government and deliberately being dumbed down at the same time?

    • waldemar

@ "Why are the American people deliberately being lied to by our federal government and deliberately being dumbed down at the same time?"

Because the Left's goal has always been the same: creation of a totalitarian, ideally global state. Keep in mind that Muslims in Bosnia created even an SS-division to fight for Hitler.

  • DogWithoutSlippers

Call 1-800-SHARIAH for you free koran – they pay for it, postage included! Just got mine yesterday. I will over time study this evil book and stand up to this evil ideology with quoted passages of how us infidels must be handled! We are dhimmis no more!

  • sedoanman

Why hasn't the trail for the Koran burning led all the way to the top like the one for Abu Ghraib supposedly did?

    • JG Montville

Its a self-evident fact, the leadership can not be held accountable for anything! In their learner-ed Opinion America is the Root of all Evil in the world, contrary to the facts of the moment and Islam get a pass and always will, the leadership is delusional and dogmatic about their Intellectual Incest Practiced over the last Fifty years. Remember Control dictates the Methods, in this case denial is the best Policy, for it neuters the facts.

    • flyingtiger

I agree. Barrack Obama must resign over this scandal. He needs to be replaced with someone who understands moslems and can control them.

      • trickyblain

Control Afghans? Can you tell us the last leader that has done that? Alexander, maybe?

        • Indioviejo

How do you control Afghans? Let us Remember Dresden, Hamburg, Berlin, and more. You beat then until they have no more fight in them, and then you do it periodically just to keep them down. You do this to all Muslims for as long as America exists. We should nuke Mecca and Medina. Wait a day or two for the inevitable rage, and then bomb them in their cities, towns, and villages. What makes you think they are the only ones capable of HATE? I enjoy the fact that they murder each other with so much vigor. We should encorage their actions.

        • Western Canadian

Actually, all that is needed is to play the tribes off against each other. Contrary to the low grade ‘history’ usually offered up about this subject, it words rather well.

  • Dirkster

Instead of an eye for and eye it is a life for a Koran. Why don't the Muslims burn a few thousand Bibles with much publicity? Because they understand, no one would be upset. How many lives would Christians demand in order to pay for the burning Bibles? Zero. Rifleman you are correct, The question should be, "How many enemy lives does an American life cost?" There should have been an overwhelming military response to the killing of our soldiers over the burning of a few pages of paper with writing on them.

  • hahajid

Mohammad himself acted blasphemy on Allah by claiming himself as the last prophet and limiting Allah's power to send other prophets after his death. Basically the leaders of different Islam branches can be treated as prophets as well, therefore all Muslims should denounce Mohammad and his books.

  • Beth

"How many American lives does a Muslim holy book cost?…"

Are we talking in terms of generations? The answer, then, is many.

Old cChinese proverb: "Give me your child the first five years of his life…and I'll make him mine forever." This is a, generally spoken,….true statement.

Teach a child that it is his duty to take the lives of those who don't belive the same as he does…and chances are…when he is older…that is exactly what he'll do.

Asking the 'leaders' of this world…..Is that what we've become? That such logic (for the good of all) to be pondered is 'off-limits' in the media? and more importantly…among our young?

We reap is what we sow! If teaching a child to crucify another for not beliving in the same way as they do – well, what can one expect? but murderous actions once such children are grown?

  • johnnywoods

The koran is NOT holy, allah is NOT a god, mohamhead IS a false prophet and we need to get Barack al-Obama out of the white house. I can hardly wait for November.

  • Terry

I repeat the suggestion I have made before. Next time a western soldier is killed by islamonazis, burn 1,000 korans, PLUS another thousand for those already murdered.

Next time a western soldier is killed, two thousand, plus another two thousand for past sins.

And how about 500+500 for each attack on western soldiers? Or maybe koran pages are issued to our forces as ass paper?

If these murderous scum are truly worried about korans being burned or flushed, they'll stop murdering and attacking their cultural superiors. I'm over being respectful to a religion that murders at the drop of a hat. Show them some bared teeth for once, rather than apologising like it's the west that's wrong!! The west isn't wrong, muslims are!!

  • peter

The price of the koran is costing a hell of a lot more than all the men we have lost. It will cost us our western way of living, we will lose our country but before we will fight the worst religion war ever, and that stands to wait for our children and grand children.
