US Relied on Muslim Brotherhood for Benghazi Consulate Security

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

The more we learn about what happened in Benghazi, the clearer things become.

Two U.S. intelligence officials told The Daily Beast that the intelligence community is currently analyzing an intercept between a Libyan politician whose sympathies are with al Qaeda and the Libyan militia known as the February 17 Brigade—which had been charged with providing local security to the consulate. In the intercept, the Libyan politician apparently asks an officer in the brigade to have his men stand down for a pending attack—another piece of evidence implying the violence was planned in advance.

The Martyrs of the Feb. 17 Revolution Brigade is Islamist and linked  with the Muslim Brotherhood. It was repeatedly accused of engaging in atrocities during and after the Libyan Civil War.

Many more-secular politicians in Libya are suspicious of Mr. Bukatef and his brigade because of their own Islamist reputation. He has been a member of Libya’s branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and one of his group’s commanders reporting to him is Ismail al-Salabi, who leads a group of Islamist fighters and is the brother of Libya’s most prominent Islamist thinker, Ali al-Salabi.

The State Department puts its faith in the Islamists… and the Islamists repaid them the way they always do.

US security officers and the Libyan authorities did not call for help from any formal military or police force — there is none to speak of — but turned to the leader of another autonomous militia with its own Islamist ties.

‘‘We had to coordinate everything,’’ said that militia leader, Fawzi Bukatef, recalling a phone call about the attack that he received from the mission’s security team.

I’m sure there was a whole lot of coordinating going on.

Reason #113 to fire Obama's worthless butt.

You miss the real point her during a time of war:

      18 U.S.C. § 2381 : US Code – Section 2381: Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war
against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and
comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason
and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five
years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and
shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

this info makes a person wonder if, no critical thinking ability is a requirement for Obama followers or just be willing idiots.

    • Shadow

No, just a desire to screw the United States.

  • PaulRevereNow

….yes, and the next step on Obama's agenda is to release the Blind sheikh, back to Egypt.

This is why they keep running the LIE blaming the film maker.
They're hell bent on covering up their own incompetence, their own child like naivety in consciously deciding to empower and hop in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood and making it the centerpiece of US foreign policy.
Far easier to falsely accuse and blame the film maker than acknowledging your own wholesale massive failure hemorrhaging for all the world to see.

If this does not open the eyes of the "Hollywood Crowd" that loves Obama, "because he is fighting everyday for American middle-class", I don't know what will. Obama does not give a crap or care at all about America. Where was Obama headed when our Americans were being killed and tortured in Libya? Forgot, he has a very busy campaign schedule that can't be cancelled when terrorism strikes innocent Americans. Since he loves to say Pakistan so much, the America people MUST vote his sorry behind out of office then he can spend all his time on Letterman, Good Morning America then go stay with the Brotherhood. I can't believe there is no outrage that four Americans were killed and Barak/Hillary spends $70,000 taxpayer dollars for an apology to Pakistan for a stupid film/trailer that has been on YouTube since July. Where the hell is the apology for the lives of our dead American's due to Islamism terrorism?

I agree. The appeasers (eg. the Hollywood lapdogs) of this administration and its celebrity in chief are going to be shamed when the truth finally comes out. They will have no where to hide. We will all know their lies, and thanks to social media, we can hold them accountable.

I cannot believe these people are so stupid. Can't they read? This administration is guilty of facilitating and insuating the muslim brotherhood into the very fabric of US decision-making from foreign policy to defense. Not only is it a travesty of justice, its unconstitutional. Do they like what America has become?

To oblique & jacqueline – our country is FULL of lapdogs, topprogs, every day non-thinking citizens who are very busy doing what very busy important folks do. Just like Obama the day of the embassy murders (a word I use intentionally and can we all say – distraction!) was busy just hours later with fund raising. These very busy folks are content with Obama soundbites and any truth seeking stops with the likes of Media Matters talking points.
And the Rock Man said – you see what you want to see, and you hear what you want to hear.

Well, I think, like, it makes perfect sense to ask a sworn enemy to help protect your diplomatic facilities. I mean, if you take an organization like the Brotherhood, which detests everything for which you claim to stand, and get them to provide protection for your people, then they will get to know you, learn to like you, and then we can all just get along.

Ok, so the policy has some risks associated with it- there are risks to any policy, aren't there? The important thing is we tried to build bridges, to be inclusive, not exclusionary or divisive. I'm sure the administration will carefully examine the alternatives and fine-tune the policy as needed so that we may bring the Muslim Brotherhood under the big tent.

Just a bump in the road, to be sure.

90 min. into the attack, Obama went to bed.

No wonder our cuckolded secretary of state has been lying so feverishly and transparently. She sees her own political doom in wide dissemination of this sort of thing.
