Horowitz’s Speech at UNC

On March 12th, 2012, David Horowitz spoke at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Sponsored by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, Christians United for Israel, and the Committee for a Better Carolina, his speech was titled “Why Israel Is the Victim and Why There Is No Peace in the Middle East.” This event, created to present a strong defense of Israel, was not sponsored by any Jewish organizations on campus. About 20 minutes into the lecture, Islamist and anti-Israel leftists staged a “walk out.” David Horowitz’s entire speech, including the student disturbance, is presented below in six parts. The “walk out” occurs at the beginning of Part II.

Of course they walked out. Truth makes them sick, or should I say sicker.

    • Snorbak

It matters little if some find the truth offensive, it none the less remains the truth.

  • stern

The blurb on the home page says "the speech provoked a walk out". No it didn't. The walkout was clearly pre-planned as a way of disrupting the speech, in typical leftard anti-Israel piggish fashion. They will not allow anyone the right to free speech if that free speech contradicts any of their "beliefs".

    • oldtimer

I agree. The walkout was planned, that's what they do, they insult speakers who do not agree with their evil views. They also took seats away from others who wanted to hear speach.

  • Gene

They didn't attend the event to learn, they attended just to walk out…not ageous enough to ngful conversation at a question and answer period. This was a cowardly act of idiocy.

    • mlcblog

The speech provoked the walkout by simply being scheduled. It provided a forum for the walkout.

I am amazed these people are so organized. They honk and act in unison, they are cognizant of mass media, and maximize their theatrics for propaganda effect.

Mr. Horowitz is gallant in his efforts to enlighten many, but to these people are different. They at fanatical in their objectives, they seem impervious to any reasoned argument, or he reality of the world around them. No, maybe I’m wrong about the reality they fail to perceive. It is more correct to observe that the folks we are under drive by do perceive reality, but it is an upside down version. These nuts are mesmerized by a force that defies reality, that creates its own. Arrative, set of facts.

Such suspension of disbelief seems to have evil intelligence as its source, these people embrace evil against good, against their own countries, culture, families.

This insurmountable ideological divide cannot be bridged by engaging these evil actors using facts. We must find another way to disempower them by ignoring them, marginalizing them, lampooning them.

To mE, this struggle in the end cannot be solved by using the democratic process or reasoning out differences via the loaded term “dialogue”. It will require violence pure and simple. I do not hope to see the collapse the lefts efforts will inevitably cause, but they keep winning and “transforming”, and importing enemies of our way of life.

They will not stop until all hell breaks loose.

Of course under the left, slavery any government tyranny equal freedom. Like I said, they are dangerous people who think in reverse.

    • richard handwerk

      sad, but most probably correct.

    • rachaelamb

Exactly these are not some naive, misgudied peace activists as they are portrayed in much of the newsmedia. They know exactly what's going on here. All the evidence is there for anyone to see. They know Israel is facing annihilation and genocide, but they don't care, and that is very frightening. These people may not be evil, but their views on the middleast situation are certainly evil, and that makes them just as guilty if not even more guilty than the Germans during WW2 who followed Hitler.

Unfortunately this has become all to typical of Liberals and people with foriegn agendas such as La Raza or any of the myriad Islamic groups. They are not here to assimilate but rather to transmorgrify America into a loser state.
    I concur they preplaned this.
I would not want my child in these universities, they apperently have chosen to poison the minds of our American youth.
What has happened to our America? Thank you.

  • maturin20

As drone technology improves, robots will be able to handle all of these tasks for us. Instead of Mr. Horowitz, a loudspeaker can be set up on an iRobot PackBot, and it can drive back and forth in the front of the lecture hall, playing a prerecorded breakdown of the percentages of the Palestine Mandate. The seats of the auditorium can be electronically flipped up or down like a giant game of "Guess Who" with faces on the tops of the seat of people who agree with the recording, and faces on the bottom of the seat of those who disagree. A randomizer can trigger the seat flipping, and a transcript of the event can be streamed to the internet.

At the risk of being rude, are you on drugs? :-)

      • reader

this attention seeking troll is probably off the right kind of drugs in all likelihood.

        Of course.

        • mlcblog

I so agree and have said so a few times before now. I find it highly offensive and ignorant. I do not want to be associated with a web site whose contributors do this.

  • mrbean

The walkout was an equivalent of a naughty children throwing a group tantrum. David was giving them a fairly accurate history lesson and they learned nothing because they do not want to learn. I will bet if you interviewed them, the vast majority of them would want the government to take all the money from the rich and pay for their education, room and board, medical insurance, and of course their condoms, birth control pills, and abortions as well. These young people have a leftist worldview presented to them from the start of grammar school through post doctoral studies fellowships. They do know the facts and they do not want to know the facts,

    • jmcaul

They are brainwashed ignoramuses. This article is too charitable implying walkout somehow spontaneous. It is phony baloney #astroturf through and through. They are not fooling anyone (except perhaps themselves – I have an idea, these morons are so brain dead and incapable of thinking for themselves, perhaps if we float the meme that drinking bleach will make you lose inches we won't have to deal with many more of them..?)

  • Fred Dawes

  • Steve Chavez

And to think AHMADINEJAD was given the red carpet at Columbia. No "mic checks" or walkouts? Not one person stood up and screamed "NO NUKE IN IRAN! " Not one woman stood up and screamed "Women's rights!"

LOUIS FARRAKKAN was given a standing ovation at Berkeley last week.

Yes, David Horowitz is a greater threat to the world than Ahmadinejad and Farrakkan.

  • jmcaul

STAGED, PRE-PLANNED #astroturf phony 'walk out' The lef't's tactics are so obvious.

  • jmcaul

I have an idea for Horowitz supporters (and at least those who would like all sides to have a fair airing) as a RESPONSE ONLY to such antics, start chanting en masse "astroturf", "astroturf" Let them know we have their number.

  • BLJ

Who cares what a bunch of clueless, soon to be educated derelects think. I can't wait until they have to look for a real job someday.

    • Dracoprimus

The problem with deciding "who cares what they think" is that these are the SAME people who will throng to a event like Occupy Wall Street. I call it an event because it in the end it wasn't really a protest. Most of their efforts were to 'educate' each other about whatever leftist theory the speaker had. It was about shutting down part of the city, to punish those who disagree with them.
the walk out was about spectacle. it was about being able to later brag to their friends that they were a part of the walkout, and how "clever and principled" they are.
many of the left's 'activities' remind me of the scene in Forrest Gump when the one boyfriend smacks Jenny around, and his excuse is because of how mad 'the man' makes him. Their horrid actions are 'forgivable' because it expresses how emotionally invested they are.

    • mlcblog

Are you kidding? the news media, for one. The sheeple, for another. This is propaganda and it is quite effective on some ears.

  • PDK

Liberalism is immaturity. Immaturity denies reality and subplants reality with illusion.
These punks at Davids speech and those of OWS pretend they are doing something important. In reality they are simply avoiding their personal responsibility to mature, and doing so at the expense of their country and fellow citizens who have, and are doing, the work to mature.
These liberal dolts are the ones the liberal democrat leaders coddle, that they might more easily be corraled into democrat voting losers.
The two greatest threats to humanity today are the occidents liberals as they pursue their socialism, and the orients Islam as it persues its superiority. Both come at the expense of liberty, wealth and happiness, both render tyranny, poverty and misery.
Woe will be humanity, when all are enslaved to Islamic insanity. Thank you.

  • PDK

Dear moderator. I have worked very hard to understand the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the whole truth for both Islam and liberalism. Some of the times my efforts are not posted. Immediately I am told that mine must be reviewed first.
I sense you flag for key words and are not just picking on PDK. However I am always clean and fair, I do not besmirch with profanity as the liberal and the Islamic side does.
I realize the FP is yours and you have your rights to pick and choose. However to allow comments from people such as amused but to deny some really highly accurate concepts from PDK makes me wonder.
Eventually people will not be bothered giving time and effort toward highly accurate insights if their effort is not posted.
    Thank you for your consideration.

  • Mister Right

    Go get em David.

I actually think it's a healthy sign that "peace activists" feel the need to stage their idiotic walk-outs. It means they're scared. It means the message is getting through. Also, it's disgusting that no Jewish groups would sponser Horowitz. When are Jews going to recognize that modern leftists are not their friends? The Finkelstein/Chomsky duo's tune is getting awfully old. Thankfully, we have warriors like Horowitz to spread the truth.

Walking out on a speech is an amateurish way of protesting.
It was all planned for propaganda purposes. The MSA and their useful idiot dhimmi students love media attention. It shouldn't be granted to them, but they should just be ignored.

  • al Kidya

Like David, in the 60's I protested the Vietnam War. I was very disturbed, however when I saw the pictures of Jane Fonda posing with North Vietnamese soldiers. What was she doing, I thought? It was ludicrous.

And like David, I was shocked and awed by what happened during the fall of Saigon, the slaughter of the innocents, the rapes, the slavery, the killing fields of Cambodia. It changed my attitudes very quickly and I began, slowly and cautiously at first, embracing the Republican ideology.

But as far as Israel went, I was always supportive of the underdog, Israel, in their plight for their homeland. I supported Israel in 1967 and beyond that.
It also help that I read the Qur'an in my first year of college. It was then that I learned of the goals of Islam and the threat to the Jewish people, who were under assault from the Arab world at the time.

  • Whatsinaname

The group walk-out was the same type of thing that happened when Arab diplomats walk out of the UN General Assembly when Israeli diplomats speek at the podium. It is group think — the type of mentality that keeps Arab countries living in the 7th century. It is the group think that will assure Egypt a future of starvation, with alternating riots and military oppression. It is the same thing that is happening in Syria now. And it is now here as well at our universities. We are graduating drones who will be equipped to do nothing but menial work and act as a mindless civil patrol force.
