Che Guevara Adorns Reno-Tahoe Airport

Pages: 1 2

But then African-Americans vote Democratic at roughly the same rate as Cuban-Americans vote Republican. So none of the usual liberal bugaboos and standards of “sensitivity” in speech and writing apply to this latter minority, for they disparage the Democratic Plantation in word and deed and are thus lepers in mainstream media eyes.

Recall the following maniacal facts about Che:

“The U.S. is the great enemy of mankind!” raved the terrorist prominently garnishing the wall in the airport of Reno, Nevada, USA.  “Against those hyenas [Americans] there is no option but extermination! We will bring the war to the imperialist enemies’ very home, to his places of work and recreation. The imperialist enemy must feel like a hunted animal wherever he moves. Thus we’ll destroy him! We must keep our hatred [against the U.S.] alive and fan it to paroxysm! If the nuclear missiles had remained (in Cuba) we would have fired them against the heart of the U.S. including New York City. The solutions to the world’s problems lie behind the Iron Curtain. The victory of socialism is well worth millions of atomic victims.”

Che’s hate-obsession was actually the U.S. Most of the Cubans he murdered, he murdered because he thought they were affiliated with the U.S. (“U.S.–Backed” Batista, the CIA, etc.) In fact probably 99 1/2 per cent of the men (and boys, and some women) his regime murdered had no affiliation with Batista whatsoever and the vast, vast majority had fought the Batista regime—but alas, as non-communists.

But as usual, most of the people Che Guevara craved to incinerate view this Reno Airport issue — as they viewed the Mercedes issue and the Ozzie Guillen issue — as a quaint and silly obsession of hyper-sensitive, loudmouthed and even ungrateful Cuban-Americans.

Maybe former Brazilian President (and friend of Che Guevara) Janio Quadros was on to something when in 1961 he snickered to a confidant that “those Americans are much like women. They have a masochistic streak. The more you slap them around, the more you get out of them.”

(Every quote and historical item above is fully-documented here and here.)

You can tell a lot about people by who they idolize. If slapping women around to get more out of them or nuking America is your thing, che's you're man.

I imagine that a coffee cup full of excreta would adequately express SOMEONE'S appreciation….

  • David R

Another example of human folly. I would seriously question the intelligence of this airport's administrators regarding security, when they can't even see beyond their noses in a matter so sensitive. But then again, everything at a modern airport is computerized…so why would you want to use your brain?
What total disregard to all those that lost their lives under Guevara's madness. Maybe a little bomb scare would activate a little intelligence in this federal facility, and who knows…might even trigger a few emotions towards the "economy class expendibles" of this world.

Send email to mayor of Reno. Tell what a disgrace his city is to celebrate che :

    • englishsunset

I just sent "" an email. Polite but firm. As a former resident and former employee there at the airport as I said in my email, I am ashamed, embarrassed, bewildered and upset." As in everything, time will tell how all of this plays out.

  • theleastthreat

Maybe it's time for the anti-Che-as-an-icon T-shirt. Show the object of Jane's (Fonda that is) lurid fantasy overseeing the execution of his many victims. And also show a Mercedes parked at the Reno-Tahoe airport in the background. Use the proceeds towards a monument to the murdered Cubans. They're the ones who should be remembered.

    • http://frontpage richard sherman

There are anti -che tee shirt web sites. Google them. One famous shirt says : CHE IS DEAD. GET OVER IT.

  • Schlomotion

Mr. Fontova, if you think David Duke wouldn't get a fair shake hanging up his art, maybe you should go talk to him. He lives just 35 miles away from you in Mandeville. You guys can probably talk shop.

    • Cuban Refugee

Schlomotion, your equating a white supremacist with a Cuban writer who is an eloquent voice and distinguished representative for those who fled Castro's repressive, murderous regime shows that you are not acquainted with the history of the Cuban revolution and its aftermath, and that your "slow" motion extends to your brain as well as your heart.

      • theleastthreat

In previous articles, Mr Fontova noted how Che despised blacks among others. Although Mr Fontova didn't point out that detail this time, I believe it was implied here and so he used a reference to David Duke to highlight the hypocrisy of Che worship among the Left and not to put Mr Duke up for any praise. Not naming any names here, but that point sailed right over the head of the other commentor you just addressed.

        • Schlomotion

Mr. Fontova should strap up and go invade Cuba if he feels so strongly about it instead of posturing as an alligator wrestler.

          • Cuban Refugee

Why bother? Thanks to the useful idiots who have made it possible, we in the U.S. soon will be living in Cuba without having to leave home … we are already an ideological 45 miles away. When we reach its miserable shores, Schlomotion, you will begin to see what true alligator wrestling looks like. Forums such as this will be shut down as exercising freedom of speech and expression becomes grounds for summary arrest. See you on the bread line — I will be the one standing by the Che Guevara poster with a can of spray paint in my hand.

          • Schlomotion

I love reading you guys' fantasies of being conquered. Everybody wants to be in The Resistance.

          • theleastthreat

It has been said the pen is mightier than the sword, and thus, Mr Fontova is nearly invincible. However, in your case, I think you should consider buying a tank.

          • johnnywoods

Hey Schlock, You may not be aware of how the "Knights of Camelot" (Kennedy Admin.), betrayed the invaders of the Bay of Pigs. Mr. Fontova is very aware of it as are most Cuban Americans which is why they vote Republican instead of Democrap. Do you think the al-Obama administration would help them out now? Maybe if they were radical muslims but otherwise very doubtful.

          • Schlomotion

JFK didn't betray them. Castro has better intelligence and the invaders bungled their invasion, which was supposed to be clandestine. JFK refused to call in air support strikes because that would have been a bombing and shooting campaign against Cuba and a war with USSR. It was probably Frank Sturgis' fault. He probably moaned the plans to Marita Lorenz. Mr. Fontova probably just feels left out.

          • Western Canadian

And you should go to the middle east and murder jews, instead of just dreaming about it.

    • Ghostwriter

Once again Schlomotion, you've proved why your screen name is so apt. Your brain is extremely slow to the point of it being a turtle. Maybe you should read Mr. Fontova's books on Fidel Castro and Che Guevara before you make another lamebrained comment, when you're not reading "Mein Kampf" or "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

      • Schlomotion

Turtles are cool. We raise them on the Katzenberg. Zionists probably drool with jealousy when they see that Sea Turtles are on the Critically Endangered List. Such publicity and sympathy!

    To Reno Airport Administration

    Dear sir or ma'am,

Congratulations on the art display at your airport. In particular, the Che poster. What a lovely idea to bring his image to such a setting. Too bad his victims will never know what a popular figure he has become but then, murder victims are so unappreciative as you must know. As for me, I never realized that airports were so central to the cult of death and murder-worship. I only thought airports were where you sent your luggage to be mishandled, or be delayed in your travels, or charged outrageous parking fees, or be officially groped. Getting back to the point, however, perhaps you could expand upon this revolutionary, and bloodstained, theme to include other mass murdering notables such as Genghis Khan, Pol Pot, Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, and the Kim dynasty of North Korea. I'm sure the majority of your public will welcome this artistic expression. And don't let those right-wing/Tea Party peasants dissuade you. They simply don't understand true art. Again, my congratulations. Bon Jour.

    • trickyblain

      Well done!

  • tkellybal

The glorification of a sadistic murderer aside, the actual artwork is lacking originality, a visual arts equivalent to plagiarism. The airport would be better served artistically by 'Elvis' on black velvet.

    • Questions

Way back in college, I owned a cheap-looking black velvet painting of Jimi Hendrix. It was dumb, cheesy and cool. Visitors to my apartment actually would compliment me on my taste. Well, I've since grown. But I must say, a velvet rendition of Hendrix would look a lot better than that painting of Che hanging from a wall at the Reno-Tahoe airport. To my knowledge, Hendrix, unlike Che, never advocated murder, unless maybe you count his cover of "Hey Joe."

I almost forgot, "…“those Americans are much like women. They have a masochistic streak. The more you slap them around, the more you get out of them.”

Beating women? Women like to be treated this way? This from a Leftist? Whaaaaaat?

    • Questions

In all fairness, many women enjoy being sexually dominated as well as doing the dominating. Visit any BDSM website, if you think I'm concocting tall tales. BDSM — it's not just for "Leftists."

  • Brujo Blanco

We cannot expect this display to be removed. What would be the reaction if their was a portrait of Adolf Hitler in its place. I suppose they would expect the Jews walking by to just sucked it up because it's just art. Consider that there was a Che poster displayed in an Obama for president office. Che was the Hitler of our hemisphere. I believe in free speech but that does not mean one can evade criticism.

    • johnnywoods

I vaguely recall that there was a poster of Che' displayed in one of the campaign H.Q.s back in `08.

This shows everybody what foot does many of our so called "intellectuals" limp from…and it is a tribute to the
people in this country that such "work of art" hasn't been smeared with human excrement or torn to pieces
and dumped into the place where it rightfully belongs….

The man was a low of the lowest kind of people, that is, if such a bloodthirsty monster can be called people,
deserving to have his picture shown in the gallery of worst people of the world with that of Hitler, Stalin, Pol
Pot, Count Dracula, etc,. if there is any somewhere….

Somebody once ventured that even his boss FIDEL CASTRO, whose portrait under the same optic placing
Guevara's should have been placed next to it, sent him to BOLIVIA (where he met his deserved but light end)
in order to get rid of him…
And now whoever calls the shots at the RENO airport, has the unmitigated gall of showing his portrait as a
"work of art" to the public…..

    • Suz

You can bet they wouldn't have displayed an image of Che submerged in urine or smeared with feces. That's only "art" when its done to Jesus & Mary.

  • Amused

I'm sure a hotdog with extra mustard tossed discreetly in the direction of said "artwork " , and done in a repetative manner , might actually dissuade the airport officials to take it down . Burritos and soft Tacos will work just as efficiently .

    • theleastthreat

An airport hotdog costs so much that you might as well throw a chunk of Beef Wellington at it. With Hollandaise sauce.

    • findalis

Or you can wipe the picture with a full diaper. Works better and is a lot cheaper.

The fact that the people of Reno, Nevada, and Tahoe, California, which make their money off of gamblers and tourists, whose disposable income is the result of stable living conditions and capitalist labor, would support the placing of a picture of Che Guevara with the caption "Revolucion," says volumes about the quality of the thought of the decision-makers who made this decision, and the conclusion is not flattering.

Maybe the thinkers who assert that gambling is not only NON-capitalist but ANTI-capitalist by its very nature have their finger on the truth.

Here is how I like to see Che:

  • Linda Rivera

The International Airport in Reno, Nevada, are spitting on the graves of the Cuban heroes who fought and died for a FREE Cuba. Their courageous fight was not just for Cuba, but for the entire Free World. The airport also spits on the graves of Che Guevara's many innocent victims. Rest in eternal peace, all of you beautiful heroes, and victims of Che Guevara.

  • Linda Rivera

It is very chilling that Reno Airport authorities honor and glorify brutal, mass murderer, Che Guevara. It also raises the question, how serious is Reno airport in catching Muslim terrorists who also seek the mass murder of innocents?

    • johnnywoods

I just called the Reno Airport PIO and the woman I spoke to said this painting was done by an employee who won an art contest and the portrait would be taken down eventually and I should respect this guy`s freedom of speech. Funny how they are so concerned about freedom of speech when one out there`s is criticized.

      • http://frontpage richard sherman

Next week Reno Airport is puting up pictures of Ted Bundy and Ri chard speck….freedom of speech in Reno, you know….

THIS IS ART? Okay, let's put up a painting of the Virgin Mary or Jesus! How about a painting of Obama as the Joker?

Many people know nothing about the real Che. A local high school group put on a play on Che and I put some Fontova facts on the poster and it actually stayed up for at least an hour when I came back through the hallway.

A group at the university, The Party for Socialism and Liberation, had a Che poster on their table so I went to talk to them and they said a new revolution was necessary including deaths. When I told them about the murders, executions by Che, they said I was lying and where I read it was propaganda.

Thanks to H. Fontova, people are learning the truth. Of course, Humberto knows who brainwashed these students at the University of New Mexico.

  • Steve Chavez

"That's ART." Okay, let's try a painting the Virgin Mary and/or Jesus!

They'd only allow it if it was the Crucifix in a Jar of Urine or made out of elephant poop!

  • mlcblog
