Sean Penn, Hugo Chavez’s Honored Guest

Pages: 1 2

Sean Penn was Hugo Chavez’s guest of honor (again) last week, serving as keynote speaker at graduation ceremonies for Venezuela’s Salvador Allende Medical School. “Allow me to impart a little anecdote,” beamed the two-time Oscar winner to the enchanted crowd. “I had the privilege to introduce my children to comandante Fidel Castro and as he posed for a photo between them I told him: ‘President, I’ll now be denounced in the U.S. for educating my children as socialist revolutionaries.’”

So Castro responded: “That’s among the best things that could happen to them.”

Besides his fame as a baseball bat-swinging wife beater, Sean Penn also claims fame as an advocate against the death penalty. His Oscar–winning role in “Dead Man Walking,” where he played a convicted rapist and murderer who perished by lethal-injection in Louisiana seems to have made a deep impression upon Penn.

Unlike Louisiana’s penal system, however, the role model for Penn’s kids used firing squads, forced labor and prison beatings to murder his thousands of defenseless victims. And their “convictions” were curtly explained by Castro’s chief hangman, Che Guevara: “Judicial evidence is an archaic bourgeois detail. We execute from revolutionary conviction,” he once said.

Castro himself confirmed: “Legal proof is impossible to obtain against war criminals. So we sentence them based on moral conviction.”

Among these “war criminals” were farm-kids younger than Penn’s children. Carlos Machado was 15-years-old in 1963 when a volley from Castro’s firing squad shattered his body. His twin brother and father crumpled beside Carlos from the same volley and tumbled into the same mass grave. All had resisted Castro and Che’s theft of their humble family farm, all refused blindfolds and all died sneering at their Communist murderers, as did thousands of their valiant countrymen.

This “moral conviction” allowed the role model for Sean Penn’s children to jail more political prisoners as a percentage of population than Stalin and murder more people (out of a population of 6.5 million) in his first three years in power than Hitler murdered (out of a population of 65 million) in his first six.

Enlightened opinion, including most “liberal,”  “human-rights” and “peace” groups worldwide, either yawned or actually applauded the bloodbath. Harvard Law School merits special attention regarding the latter.

By April 1959, almost a thousand Cubans had been “judged” (see above) and murdered by Castro and Che’s firing squads. Cuba’s prisons were packed to suffocation with ten times the number of political prisoners as during “the Tyrant” Batista’s reign. Among Castro and Che Guevara’s prisoners were hundreds of women, a Stalinist horror utterly unknown in our hemisphere until it was introduced by the “leader” swooned over by Barbara Walters, Andrea Mitchell and Diane Sawyer.

Furthermore, the death penalty was being applied retroactively (none had existed under the unspeakable Batista regime). Habeas Corpus had been abolished. Cuban defense lawyers attempting to defend the accused were being jailed themselves.

Highly intelligent people can also be morally and spiritually bankrupt. Natural intelligence is not necessarily connected to wisdom and real understanding. Tragically, history has shown that to be true over and over again.

    • dmh

Your words should be written in stone and perched on a prominent place outside of the White House and every possible place where students and others so blinded by falsehoods and blood thirsty criminals can read it daily! It is so sad that thousands of supposedly well-educated students cannot also obtain a keen sense of spirituality, wisdom and a real understanding of why they are on this earth in the first place. That alone would change this world into a far better place.

      • Madeleine

I was thinking the same thing. You're absolutely dead on Bartimaeus, I've gotten intelligence mixed up with wisdom more than once, you have just explained why. Thank you.

      Ted Bundy comes to mind.

While a Correctional Officer at Florida State Prison in the latter "70's I had Bundy on death row and
he was a jerk, a devious and fiendish person. His folder was three times larger than the others, the

Maybe Comrade Penn will stay in Venezuela! One can hope!!

    • kafir4life

At the very least, he should avail himself of the Venezuelan medical system to show the world how horrible the American system is. We do have to keep in mind that when Mr. Penn is speaking, he's just acting. He's playing the part of an idiot. And very well I might add.

  • davarino

Talk about mind numbed robots. There isnt an independant thinker in the bunch. They all think the same way so they can be liked by the intillagencia and be invited to all the cool parties. Penn and his ilk are idiots, but more than that they are mentally ill.

Death to Castro, burn in hell Che

A tee shirt of Penn in a straight jacket would be a hot item to have………………..William

  • Cuban Refugee

Sean Penn's children do not need to be photographed with Castro to be deemed "socialist revolutionaries." They can simply attend one of the many centers for communist indoctrination commonly known in the U.S. as public schools, and when they receive their diplomas with degrees in treason and anarchist tactics for subversion, they will have made their useful idiot daddy proud. Perhaps, by the time Penn's kids get to college, our dictator will have returned to teaching, and his course on Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals' will be a requirement for graduation.

    • mlcblog

i am in recovery groups with many children of those 1960's parents. Boy! the tales they tell of deluded parents, who to be fair where very confused themselves, just like Penn and his father before him.

  • StephenD

So when his kids find out later in life who their Dad's hero is, will they wonder after his heart? Would they want to honor his memory after this? "What you sow so shall you reap." The way things are going Penn has a whirlwind of tragedy coming his way. He may have the eye and ear of fools and fakes but eventually he'll go to his grave. I wouldn't want to go to mine with my kids looking on me with disgust and shame which should be his fate.

  • Choi

    Sean Penn is a POS!
    Re: Harvard:
On a regular basis ,we continue to see the CESSPOOL known as Harvard engaged in one WRONG TREASONOUS ACTIVITY after another.
A Harvard degree should be a BADGE of SHAME rather than the "exhalted" sham that it really is.
There are ONLY 4 universities that have HONOR: West Point(Army),Annapolis(Navy/Marine Corps), Colorado Springs(Air Force) and the Coast Guard Academy.

Yet how odd to imagine their lot under a Chavez or a Castro or a Stalin. Just picture the collapse of Hollywood's playground — the redistribution of all their wealth, the despotic squelching of their free speech in art, the strangling of their rights and riches. And remember, to these Hollywood people Joseph Stalin was lovable uncle Joe but Joseph McCarthy was the devil incarnate. McCarthy had nothing to do with investigating Hollywood, he was after the State Department – but they still call it McCarthyism.

    • pennswoods

Don't forget that both JFK and his brother Bobby supported Senator Joe McCarthy in the late 1940's. Bobby Kennedy was a legal aid to Senatory McCarthy. Both Kennedy's were such good friends of Joe McCarthy that Bobby asked McCarthy to be the godfather for his first child, Kathleen Kennedy. This fact is conveniently swept under the rug by the left wing Hollywood Blacklisting crowd.

If Mr.Penn (and others in the entertainment industry) likes it there so much, why doesn't he just move there!

  • tagalog

In the religious, capitalist-oriented college I teach ethics at, I emphasize to my students that they must have enough facts at their disposal to undergird any moral convictions their hearts lead them to. But I guess knowing the facts is something that can now be disposed of among those highly intelligent Lefties. I guess us dumb Righties must continue to ground our own ignorance in factual knowledge while the Left finds truth through its flights of fancy.

Correction: Penn didn't win an Oscar for "Dead Man Walking"; his two Oscars were for "Mystic River" and "Milk". Susan Sarandon won the Oscar opposite Penn in “Dead Man Walking".

and does any one give a crap???

  • http://www.whycanadamustend.com Tony Kondaks

Gotta hand it to Chavez for having the courage of his convictions.

He has obviously bought into Castro's propaganda that the Cuban health system is of high standards and, as such, is insistent upon using it to treat his cancer. Solidarity with his socialist brothers and all that. Of course, the system in reality is of very poor quality and one wonders if Chavez had availed himself of treatment in the United States whether his cancer would be less serious today.

Chavez should have done what former Premier of Quebec, Robert Bourassa, did, who went to the States for treatment of his melanoma instead of relying on treatment from Canada's health care system.

I doubt many Venezuelans would like Sean Penn. They probably think he's a complete idiot, trying to brainwash Americans into liking Hugo Chavez.

  • BLJ

Sean Penn: Just having a little pizza and learning about Marxism, Mr. Hand.

  • Serafino

How can anything intelligent be expected of a degenerate like Penn, whose brain is destroyed by a lifelong use of drugs and alcohol? A typical Hollywood story of self-destruction. It's funny, on this picture he looks like Hitler, and his host – like a North Korean dictator on the stage of Mad TV.

To complete the idiotic irony, President Obama is going to award S. Penn the Freedom Medal just as soon as he re-opens the shuttered business that made them. My error, the contract for medals has already been awarded to China.

Hollywood leftism in it's most extrem form Penn is the McCommie of the decade or is that decadence

Sean Penn supports Gay "marriage". During his heart to heart conversations with his bosom buddies Fidel and Hugo I wonder if he has ever asked them why Gay "marriage" isn't an issue in those two "progressive" countries? A few years ago Penn sold his house in Marin County, CA for over 15 million $$$. Why can't Communists like him be satisfied living in a 3 or 4 bedroom 1 1/2 bath house like the rest of Middle America? Come the revolution his mansion in Marin County could have provided homes for at least 20 or 30 poor families.

  • BS77

I read that the violence, corruption and official criminal malfeasance in Venezuala is actually worse than Mexico.

HUGO TO SEAN: "You support the 99%ers right? Will you donate 99% of your wealth to the Revolution? Even with 1% left, you would still be richer than 99% of my people."

Penn: "Well ah ah ah, you know, ah ah ah, I ah ah ah, oh ah, I'll have my accountant call you. Gotta go."

  • T100C1970

Penn is looking pretty beat up for a 51 year old. Maybe the drugs and alcohol that consumed his brain are now working on his body.

  • gman213

Is it me or does Sean Penn look like Geraldo Rivera's son?
