What the (Bleep) Just Happened?: The Happy Warrior’s Guide to the Great American Comeback

Pages: 1 2

In the immortal words of Rev. Al Sharpton in 2010:  “First of all, then we have to say the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama.”  So the leftists knew it at the time, but did most of the American people?  Apparently not.

This is why Obama has had to move with such dispatch: he had to slam as much of the redistributionist agenda into the first two years, before the American people got wise to what he was doing and began to put a stop to it, as they started to in 2010.  When Obama spoke in 2008 of “fundamentally transforming” the nation, many people assigned an innocuous meaning to that statement.  We now know what he really meant, and we’re getting ready to reject wholesale that sick, destructive socialist agenda.

FP:  Is there anything about Obama that strikes you as impressive?

Crowley: Yes.  His absolute and unwavering commitment to his philosophy and his steely discipline in affecting it as policy.  He is single-minded and uncompromising in his beliefs and relentless in seeing through his mission.  It’s truly astonishing.

FP:  What’s your view of Governor Mitt Romney?  Can he take on Obama effectively?

Crowley: I think Governor Romney is exactly the right man at exactly the right time.  He may not be the conservative dreamboat for whom many of us pine, but he knows that the very existence of exceptional America is at stake.  After years of supremely effective business and political leadership, he knows how to put this country back on its traditional rocket path of job creation and economic growth and innovation.  He’s a man of tremendous personal and professional integrity; even Bill Clinton called his business record “sterling.”  Romney has the potential to be a truly great president given the enormous challenges he will inherit.

First, however, he’s got to get there.  And as a candidate, he’s been far more formidable than many people—not least of whom, Team Obama—expected.  Romney is NOT John McCain, Bob Dole, or George H.W. Bush, God love ‘em.  Romney is a different political animal.  He’s a political killer, which is what we need to go up against the quintessential political killer, Barack Obama.  I would like to see more of the Happy Warrior in Romney, though.  If he adopts that joyful stance that comes from a genuine love of America, this race will be his.

FP: What would the great American comeback that you are calling for entail? Do you think it is really possible? What if the comeback doesn’t take place?

Crowley: The great American comeback involves a few things.  It involves first the American people carrying out a version of the Hippocratic oath: First do no MORE harm.  We must begin by handing Obama and his band of leftists (what I call in the book “the kooks”) a thundering repudiation in November.  Leftism in all its forms must be halted and turned back resoundingly.

Then we must focus on getting this country back to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free market capitalism.  This is going to be exceedingly difficult to do because the kooks aren’t going to go down without a fight, particularly if they lose their grip on power in November.  But again we must recognize that we are in a war, and as with all wars, this one is going to require pain and sacrifice in order to get the country back on track.  None of this will be easy, and it’s going to require enormous courage, tenacity, and good humor—on the part of our (hopefully) new leaders and on the part of the American people.

The nation is at the proverbial fork in the road.  One path will lead us to Obama’s ultimate vision of Orwellian statism.  The other path will lead us back to what made us exceptional from the start: individual freedom and economic liberty.  If we choose the Obama path, it will spell the end of America as we’ve always known it.  This is not your grandfather’s or even your father’s Democrat party; today’s party morphed into a far more radical and determined leftist army long ago—and without much notice.  The kooks have been running the show for several decades, but have done it in hyper-speed once Obama took office.

Once the tentacles of redistributionism wrap themselves tightly around every part of the economy—and around our psyches—they can never be unwound.  Once the majority is dependent on government in significant ways, we will have passed the tipping point.  America as an economic dynamo will be no more, America as an international superpower will be no more, and America as an exceptional nation will be no more.  It’s not too late to save her.  The choice is still before us, but time is running out.  We’ve not a second to waste.

Housewife politics. Those who rule your financial system rule your country. Obamas and Romneys come and go, but Morgan Stanley, Goldmann Sachs, Moodys and JP Morgan remain, and they couldn't care a hoot about "Happy Warriors" or the likes. Their sole objective is profit and if it can't be found in the US, wealth flows elsewhere. The weaker the US goverment, the easier the plunder of the nation.

IMHO you whole comment is just plain worthless Crackerjack. To what purpose was it crafted?

There is not going to be a great American comeback–the pathetic American people have allowed the Marxist democrat party and RINO's to destroy the American nation over the last one hundred years plus–at present this destruction is 97% complete!

I personally do not accept your doom and gloom attitude.

Though there is a hint of truth in the respect that we have deviated from the Constitution widely.
Certainly a result of significant population apathy (we trusted our political class to follow it) accompanied by severe corruption of our laws and ideals.
A return to it is the answer and one can only hope that it will be accomplished with not only some serious repudiation but also with some jail time for traitors.

Very Catchy Title. Crowley is right, America is good and has been attacked by Extreme Evil. Its up to the people to stand strong aginst tyranny, our fore fathers did it, and we can do it.

Monica Crowley is sexy. Hard to believe she is related to Alan Colmes.

I like her a lot. But I have a different opinion of reversing the death of America she would shun me for. I think it is too late.

Think of it this way. This nation’s exceptionslism was a result of an idea of E Pluribus Unim. It was as a result of a European based civilizational view. It was because we had commonality of race, religion, culture, language, history and traditions.

That America has passed away. A Mitt Romney can only make us a better society of consumers, not a more moral, sane people. Confusion abounds, and a country so far along in its efforts to remove God, redefine marriage, kill the unborn, deny its right to sovereignty, refuse to consider deviant acts as disordered, indoctrinate children to love lies and hate truth, discriminate against white people with shameless abandon, will not survive, nor does it deserve to survive.

Chicago, is an urban wasteland because of all the above reasons, plus the policies Monica talked about. But America is not just economic growth, it is it’s people. Look around. It looks like the Canteena Scene from Star Wars. How does one make that work?

Monica won’t agree with me because she does not see exactly how far gone the country really is. In effect, America is a failed experiment that was started with the best of intentions, but subverted by evil men who convinced us that diversity and multiculturalism are more sacred than God himself. So the set out to remove God, remove borders, subvert the religion and culture, and pervert the young. Not just here, but everywhere in the West.

So, my vision, is a future America that looks a lot like a Mad Max movie sometime soon.

Just look at Chicago, and imagine it on a continental scale.

Monica Crowley and Alan Colmes are related by marriage, not blood. Her sister, a professor at Rutgers, is married to Colmes. It makes for some interesting Thanksgiving dinner conversations.

      • Asher

I feel sorry for Monica's sister who is married to Alan the Worm… and Eyebrows Colmes.

I am a chicagoian. You are right he is using the fail policies that ruined Chicago on the nation. I tend to call his style of government "Daleyism," but that is how we tend to see it around here. I was thinking of writing an article about this, but it will be a long one.

When God becomes irrelevant the State is all that is left. Morality is whatever the person or persons in power say it is. Without a true standard of truth, as the Bible, we are left lurching to make up our own truth and thus it will be a corrupt one and manufactured by that person in power. No way around this and this is what we are seeing. A postmodern world where any truth is considered equal or any truth considered relative can not flourish. Its only a matter of time that a Constitution is subject to a relativistic mindset and this is happening. Do what you please becomes the norm and laws then become obstacle instead of safeguards. I believe if there is not an awakening to the importance and relevance of ethics we are doomed as a nation that we once had.

Your right Monica, this nation can be saved and we do need another Ronny Reagan. The way he did it was to take his no nonsense, logical message to the people. They understood and voted with him which influenced congress more than anything else. You get the people on your side and it doesnt matter what the special interests want. I dont think the Repubs realize that most Americans are conservative at heart and just need to have a good reason, and when that reason is conveyed to them they vote that way. This was proven by Reagan by how many people on the other side of the political spectrum voted with him. They didnt call him the great communicator for nothing. I'm sure his acting career helped a lot, but I'm sure any president can do it, even Romney. To me that is the most important thing a conservative president can do, is communicate to the people rather than to congress. I am sure trying to communicate to congress is like talking to a wall. They have all these special interests pulling them in all directions, but throw in a majority of Americans and the special interests fall by the way side. So, if Romney wants to win and be a great president he needs to communicate his conservative ideas in a way that totally make sense to the average Joe.

I believe a Romney-Rubio, or Romney West….Jindal, Rand Paul, or Ryan… ticket could create a huge Landslide…The people are awake and have had it with this Evil Regime!

I agree on many points with her, I think more such politicians polepszyłopy situation in the U.S..

Obama has turned America into 'The land of the flea and the home of the knave.'

  • marat 1

Obama has NEVER been a "President." For all these years he has merely been "Campaigner-In-Chief." It is pitiful to see his destructiveness and I simply get nauseous at this point just hearing his endlessly boring empty words. May he retire to a small town where he can give constant speeches. Preferably where he can do no harm.

One wonders how many other times the author has used Al Sharpton as a quotable source to further her point?
    I'll bet zero.
