Obama’s Dirty Campaigning Takes Unprecedented Turn

Pages: 1 2

Presidential nomination conventions traditionally have been governed by a ceasefire: Out of courtesy and tradition, the rival party yields the national stage to the nominating party. That tradition is now being cast aside by President Obama, who, along with his Democratic Party surrogates, is poised to launch what The Hill calls a “full-scale assault on Republicans” as they gather in Tampa, Florida, next week. Hope and change, meet slash and burn.

While Republicans will be officially nominating Mitt Romney, Democrats, led by Vice President Joe Biden, will converge on Tampa to condemn the GOP as the enemy of women and minorities. According to the Democratic National Committee, Democrats will focus on “how the Republican Party Mitt Romney is being nominated to lead is outside the mainstream on issues of importance to Americans — particularly as it relates to women, Hispanics and African-Americans.” President Obama meanwhile is set to stage high-profile rallies in key swing states. Even the First Lady will take part in the counter-convention campaign, with a scheduled appearance on the “David Letterman Show” timed to coincide with the nomination.

If such crude tactics seem a world away from the transcendent, post-partisan pitch of Obama’s 2008 campaign, they are by no means exceptional. As the country has soured on his leadership, Obama has beat a hasty retreat from his onetime promise to elevate the political debate. Not content to demonize Mitt Romney as a sinister corporate raider during his time at Bain Capital, the president and his campaign allies have tried to cast him as a criminal and worse. In July, for instance, Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter mused that Romney might be a “felon” who had lied to the Securities and Exchange Commission over his role at Bain Capital, despite having no evidence whatsoever that the charge might be true. Called to account for the smear at a recent press briefing, Obama insisted that “nobody accused Mr. Romney of being a felon,” a strained bit of linguistic parsing premised on the notion that groundless innuendo did not rise to the level of an accusation.

While the president has dodged responsibility for his campaign’s negative bent, Vice President Biden has embraced it. At a campaign rally in Virginia last week, Biden informed a mostly black audience that a Romney presidency would “unchain Wall Street” but that “They’re gonna put ya’ll back in chains.” Crass though it was, Biden’s comment was perfectly revealing of the Obama campaign’s willingness to sacrifice civility for political gain.

On the rare occasions when the president and his team have declined to stoop to smear tactics, Democratic political action committees have been happy to shoulder the burden. Thus Priorities USA Action recently ran a shockingly dishonest ad that tried to link Mitt Romney to the death of a laid-off steelworker’s wife. Obama did not condemn the ad, though he generously conceded he personally didn’t “think” that Romney was “somehow responsible for the death.” Others, presumably, were free to think so. This is what now passes for post-partisanship in the Obama campaign.

Hope, change and an open door policy, that is what was promised. But we got just the opposite. And 0 has proven that the only job he is capable of is fundraising

That's not true, the zero has initiated plenty of change in the US, nearly all of it negative.

BUMPER STICKER: "I'M SWITCHING." A poll revealed that more 2008 Obama voters are switching for Romney than McCain voters switching for Obama.

A national campaign with commercials and bumper stickers can convince people that they too can switch.

Have people saying "I'm switching" with a reason why.

Show unemployed Gulf rig workers: "Obama imposed a moratorium and now I'm out of work. " (Camera pans back and shows hundreds of unemployed workers with idle oil rigs.) All say "I'M SWITCHING."

Show businesses with "Closed" Signs and their workers.

Show students who graduated high school and college who can't find a job. "I voted for Obama and now he hasn't fixed the economy leaving me with a degree that's not worth the paper it is printed on. I'M SWITCHING!"

On and on but this, when repeated a billion times like Obama's "Time for a Change" and "Hope and Change" it will get people to think about changing too.

This is NOT about SWITCHING PARTIES, unless they want to take it that far, but to at least SWITCH their vote. "REAGAN SWITCHED." Reagan Democrats did too.

My "25 Reasons: Time for a Switch" will convince people to switch.

Since Paul Ryan was added to the ticket…there have been millions of people get onboard the Romney-Ryan express.. People are very happy about the Team and know they can head the nation in the right Direction.

  • ★FALCON★

It's rather apparent that Obama already has Romney's tax returns. However, he needs Romney to release them so he can then demogogue them. Seems that Obama got the returns via the IRS and is attempting to make a political issue out of Romney as a "one percenter".

Obama can't drill down too deeply and disclose what the returns reveal until Romney actually releases them or everyone will be wondering how Obama knows what Romney's private returns entail.

    Typical leftist dirtbag trickeration.

I tried to tell everyone I could the truth about who and what obama was…but not many listened. Hopefully people will really see the great danger of his group of muslim and anti-Americans now know the truth of the great danger as he takes us down to nothing. It makes Hitler look like a boy scout. Forget the party you belong to and see what America needs and it sure is not a one world gov led by nazi's..it is fearful that so many are blinded by the lies of Dem, and power hungry devils who will make ALL America poor and in chains that they claim Rep want to do. and the granny to be pushed over the cliff..they will push ALL seniors over as they have already taken 700 billion cuts on the SS. and they will take more.

    • Jim_C

"It makes Hitler look like a boy scout."

There's a place I live called "reality." I agree it can be a scary place, but it's kinda necessary for survival. You might want to check it out sometime.

      • fiddler

So, have you watched the movie "2016" or read the book "The Amature" yet?

        • trickyblain

Jim C is talking about reality, fiddler. Fictional movies and books are not reality.

          • fiddler

Actually 2016 is a documentary. I wouldn't call it fictional.

          • trickyblain

A documentary about the future that isn't speculative (i.e., fiction)?

D'Sousza is tangibly and demonstrably clairvoyant?

      • Kufar Dawg

        I see your point.

    • trickyblain

      "…but not many listened."

You tried to tell them that he was worse than Hitler and is conspiring to subject us to a one-world Nazi gov't that throws grandmothers off cliffs? And they didn't listen???

    • nightspore

You should read a little more about Hitler. NO ONE makes Hitler look like a boy scout (not even Tamerlane). Running nasty ads is not quite the same as killing people by the thousands – and then millions.

      • pagegl

Actually, Stalin and Mao did a pretty good job.

    • Asher

They should see the Movie 2016 by Dinesh DeSousa, they will understand very quickly what we face!

    • Jacobite

I have no idea, but if you are a white person, you can only wish Nazis were taking over. HItler identified disfavored minorities for persecution. O'bwana wants to crush the white majority. He's just like every other black leader we've seen — Coalman Young, Marion Barry, Idi Amin Dada, Robert Mugabe.

  • BLJ

I am hoping for change in November. A change in the occupant of the White House.

Obama's presidency is the worst thing that has ever happened to America. He makes a loser like Jimmy Carter
look good (and that is saying quite a bit). Obama's true colors and total lack of class are being put on full display.

  • lizaz

We Independents are pretty much tired of the negative attacks we hear from Obama. He has nothing new to say except "give me more time" and that is just a joke because we know he needs more time to fully knuckle us "knuckleheads" down and bring his agenda of socialist/marxist government into fruition. In the meantime the national debt continues to tick up every second and his $1.1-1.2 trillion deficit rolls along, putting us all behind the eight ball with no end in sight. The only answer to us is to remove this blight from the WH in November, put the Senate democrats into the minority and hold on to, if not strengthen, the conservative position in the House. We have to do this to return freedom and liberty to our country. I say give Romney/Ryan a chance, because the alternative is unacceptable!!!

Another day, another allegation of voter fraud by Republicans. This one, courtesy of WKOW’s 27 News in Madison, Wisconsin…

The wife of a prominent state lawmaker cast a vote in Wisconsin’s April presidential primary election, even though she was a resident of Idaho at the time.

Wisconsin Government Accountability Board records show Samantha Vos voted in the state’s April 3 election. Vos is the wife of Rep. Robin Vos (R-Rochester), the co-chair of the state’s powerful joint finance committee.

Yes, it looks like —- no matter what the professional GOP “voter fraud” fraudsters and clowns like John Fund, Hans von Spakovsky and Matthew Vadum claim —- if there is an epidemic of “voter fraud” in this country, it seems not Democrats, but Republicans, and often very very high-profle Republicans at that, who are carrying it out.
-yup it' a cut and paste -so what .

    • jemaasjr

Yeah, right, sure. I guess you forgot that the Democrats are opposing voter ID laws on the premise that voter fraud is not a problem. You need to get together with your lying buddies and come up with a consistent story. That is, unless, it really does not matter any more because, you know, what is a little thing line the truth.

      • KPO

That was "amused" point exactly. A Republican led initiative that caught a Republican acting improperly. And to answer your question voter fraud is not a problem on an individual level.

    • Rich

Yes, how stupid those republicans are to support voter ID laws, when it appears that it will cost them votes. How altruistic the democrats are to oppose those laws, most likely as to spare the republicans the embarrassment of having their fraudulent supporters turned away at the polls. Amusing, isn't it?

    • Kufar Dawg

I can allege you're an idiot, but that doesn't prove it.

    • fiddler

Abused doesn't remember the 2000 election when there was a deliberate attempt to eliminate over seas ballots in FL. There was a written directive on how to disqualify an over-seas vote. There was a vote-o-matic in a Democrat's car. There were locked door meetings.

Yes folks I'M SURE, that Abused goes to the Daily Kos, The Huffington Post and Move-on.org and laughs at them the same as here. BECAUSE!! he is an independent in the truest sense of the word! He is absolutely dispassionate about support for the WH occupant; VERY discerning, VERY objective. Why, I'd pity the fool who tangles with him on the Daily Kos. Thanks abused for being FAIR with everyone, as a died-in-the-wool "independent". I bet you scoffed at their talking about Romneys tax returns and Bidens "put y'all in chains" remark, huh. That's our boy abused!!!!

    • Asher

The fraud is by the Democrats who have been cheating for 40 years in the elections!

  • amused

I gues you missed the irony of that news story , in spite of the FACT there there were literally less than 100 incidents of voter fraud in Federal elections in the last TWO Presidential elections , Republicans calling for ID's for what one Republican called , "the urban " electorate ….lol….code for BLACK voters .LOL….no Republicans are not stupid , between gerrymandering and the PHONY FRAUD PROBLEM , a blindman can determine which demographic their campaign is aimed at . The irony of course is that the wife of Vos [R] Rochester who is for voter ID's , got busted commiting election fraud . Yes THAT is AMUSING . Never mnind that the present system did i fact "catch her " ……HYPOCRITES .

    • reader

…and what another Republican called "the union" electorate…lol… code for THUG voters. LOL

  • HighPressure

This is no shock. Remeber Clinton got away with this racism 3 days before an election in '98 where he said he remembered church burnings in Arkansas when he was growing up and he wasn't going let it happen again. The problem was there was no church burnings. And the second problem his party was responsible for 99% of all church burnings. Clinton got away with a sociopathic double lie.

This is worse racism then what the street bigot would use by yelling hate. This sociopathic Lie were made to raise the worse in the human condition of Hate reaction. In other words Amtrak Biden and Bill the Rapist are the bottom of the barrel racists…. and his no one in their party has the moral center to call them out.

  • Jon_Babtist

Is this tactic any surprise? Habitual liar, engage in document and identity fraud, gave guns to Mexican drug gangs, wrecking the economy with astronomical deficits, a closet Marxist/Islamist, state and national senate races run on character assassination, systematically dismembering the Constitution, fraudulent autobiographies etc etc etc. The list of the presidents despicable character traits and actions are too numerous to mention.

The past several weeks have made one thing crystal-clear: Our country faces unmitigated disaster if the Other Side wins.

No reasonably intelligent person can deny this. All you have to do is look at the way the Other Side has been running its campaign. Instead of focusing on the big issues that are important to the American People, it has fired a relentlessly negative barrage of distortions, misrepresentations and flat-out lies.

Just look at the Other Side’s latest commercial, which take a perfectly reasonable statement by the candidate for My Side completely out of context to make it seem as if he is saying something nefarious. This just shows you how desperate the Other Side is and how willing it is to mislead the American People.

The Other Side also has been hammering away at My Side to release certain documents that have nothing to do with anything, and making all sorts of outrageous accusations about what might be in them. Meanwhile, the Other Side has stonewalled perfectly reasonable requests to release its own documents that would expose some very embarrassing details if anybody ever found out what was in them. This just shows you what a bunch of hypocrites they are.

LOL …..Great piece by an honest pundit

  • Tatersalad

Will this author be prosecuted or not by the Obama administration? They dismissed charges against the New Black Panthers and voting suppression but will they for a movie they don't like?

    • amused

if you're dull enough to be visiting Breitbart.com , let alone quoting the garbage there , you're mentally deficient to start with . Prosecuted ? This is America , where anyone can be as stupid as they wanna be , and there aint no law against that .
