Platform Chaos and Class Warfare at DNC

Pages: 1 2

Republicans are asking “Are we better off today than we were four years ago?” At Wednesday night’s DNC convention, Democrats largely ignored the question and, instead, focused on those issues that divide America. That, along with an attempt to quiet a controversy that threatened to overshadow Tuesday’s fairly powerful first night.

On Tuesday, the DNC confirmed their party platform that included no mention of “God” or of Jerusalem being the capital of Israel. This provided much ammunition for Mitt Romney, who only one month ago visited Israel and proclaimed Jerusalem as her capital. This also concerned a number of Democrats, so they moved to re-vote – three times – to put these two issues into the platform. At least half the crowd yelled “No” and booed loudly when the motion was adopted. In the beginning, these issues were merely missing from the party platform. Now we know why.

Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader, repeated the false narrative that Barack Obama has created jobs. She stated, “Jobs are central to the American dream – and President Obama has focused on jobs from day one.” The reality is that from day one of Obama taking office, America has had the worst unemployment rate since the Great Depression.

Tuesday night, the head of NARAL took center stage. Wednesday night, the president of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards got her chance to curse Republicans for not wanting taxpayer money to go towards paying for abortions, something that many Americans abhor. As expected, Richards, the daughter of the late Texas Governor Ann Richards, fit the issue into the Democratic ‘War on Women’ strategy. She stated, “This year, women learned that if we aren’t at the table, we’re on the menu.” She got what she wanted, a seat at the Obama table.

Sandra Fluke, an activist attorney who was stopped from participating in a government hearing on contraception, painted the GOP as monsters. She said that if Romney is elected President, it would be “an America in which access to birth control is controlled by people who will never use it; in which politicians redefine rape so survivors are victimized all over again; in which someone decides which domestic violence victims deserve help, and which don’t.” This, all from the GOP not wanting to fund abortion or to force religious institutions to have to provide contraceptives.

Benita Veliz was the first undocumented worker to address a party convention. Veliz is an advocate for the Dream Act, an undertaking that has failed to gain acceptance in Congress by many Republicans and Democrats, as it has been seen as being unconstitutional, a way to encourage mass amnesty into the U.S., and an offense to legal immigrants who work hard and pay tremendous fees striving to become American citizens. Veliz said, “I have had to live almost all my entire life knowing I could be deported just because of the way I came here.”

Bob King, the president of United Auto Workers (UAW), praised Barack Obama and attacked Mitt Romney for their respective stances on the auto industry bailouts. He gave credit to Obama for saving Chrysler and G.M., but he spoke nothing of his organization’s role in causing the companies’ collapse. Indeed, it was the unions that created the disadvantage America’s big three auto manufacturers had with their foreign competitors. If it weren’t for the auto unions, there would have been no talk of bailouts to begin with – bailouts which benefited UAW.

Knowing that Benita Veliz is in the United States illegally and yet allowing her to speak at the democrats convention is enough to impeach this President. Barrack Obama the President knowingly broke the immigration laws of the United States, the very laws he swore to uphold when he was sworn into office. If there is not a move in the House of Representatives this day every person in a leadership position should be removed from office for allowing our President to break the laws this very House passed.
Please America wake up and look at what this President is doing to your Nation,if he is elected again he will finish destroying it because not one person in this Congress has the backbone to stop him,in fact i believe they are all working together to destroy our Nation. We the people must remove him from office this November.
    GOD BLESS AMERICA

A whore, a liar, and a disbarred cheating rapist. I have to admit, they really captured the flavor of liberalism last night.
The best part was the look on the muslim's face when they put Jeruselum into the platform.
I am SO Looking forward to reading what the terrorist supporters at the terrorist supporting cair have to say.

  • Looking4Sanity

Hmmm. They remove the mention of God and support of Israel from their platform and chaos and class warfare ensues. Interesting. There has to be a moral to that story somewhere.

    • HighPressure

The same reason they hate God and the 10 Commandments… simply …" Thall shall not covet"

      • Looking4Sanity

Indeed, but do you know what it is that they covet? They covet the Power of God itself. That is why they reject the Declaration and the Constitution which is based upon the eternal principles of the Declaration. All three things stand between them and their despotic ambitions.

        • HighPressure

I agree… and they also teach it to install chaos so they can attain more power by instilling base hatred through covetness. They actually don't care about the people they teach how to hate…. Sort of like saying that despise the act of rape… after you hadBill Clinton over for beer and chips (or speaking at your convention).

  • Kevin

Their initial movements represent who these people really are and what they truly believe: God out. Homosexuality in. It is the "new" America the Left so desires.

    • Jim_C

There was a lot of controversy when the Founding Fathers removed the word "God" from our Constitution. Guess what we survived.

The democrats had the audacity to remove the phrase "god-given potential." Heavens, no!

Here's their plank on Israel-not that anyone here will ever read it. It's item 1 under "Middle East:"

The Middle East. President Obama and the Democratic Party maintain an unshakable commitment to Israel's security. A strong and secure Israel is vital to the United States not simply because we share strategic interests, but also because we share common values. For this reason, despite budgetary constraints, the President has worked with Congress to increase security assistance to Israel every single year since taking office, providing nearly $10 billion in the past three years. The administration has also worked to ensure Israel's qualitative military edge in the region. And we have deepened defense cooperation—including funding the Iron Dome system—to help Israel address its most pressing threats, including the growing danger posed by rockets and missiles emanating from the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. The President's consistent support for Israel's right to defend itself and his steadfast opposition to any attempt to delegitimize Israel on the world stage are further evidence of our enduring commitment to Israel's security.

  • Mike

Looking4Sanity…there is a moral to that story, it's in Genesis 12:3, "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you" you should read the book"As america has done to Israel" by John T. Mcternan. There are consequensis to our choices concerning Israel. I choose the blessings. "When the rightous are in authority the people rejoice but when the wicked rule the people groan" I would say that the people in this country are groaning.

    • Looking4Sanity

I agree. Unfortunately, they have rejected the Word just as they reject the Constitution. As to the groaning? I'm thoroughly enjoying watching them (the wicked) gnash their teeth and pull their beards as their inevitable defeat closes in on them.

  • Interested Party

Michelle Obama said being president "doesn't change who you are, it reveals who you are" and I think is pretty revealing, eh? How can ANYONE who is sane stay in the Dem party? I actually know people who are in it, and they are NOT crazy…yet…ugh.

    • Jim_C

Because we want affordable health care, affordable college, investment in research and infrastructure which creates jobs and encourages innovation, and someone who understands economic reality and not economic dogma. We're as mad as the TEA party–who are right to be mad. But unlike the TEA party, who touchingly became concerned about government corruption weeks after Obama took office, we understand what brought us to the brink of economic collapse. We want to be on the fairway; the TEA party is content to caddy for tips and a halfway house hot dog.

We're watching as Pennsylvania's Mike Turzai admit his reason for monkeying with his states election system is not fairness or integrity–it's to deliver his state to Romney. We're watching as courts strike down similar attempts by GOP states to disenfranchise people; this as Republicans lied about it, saying Obama is trying to take the veteran's vote away. Right here on this site, by some slavering sycophants. And you'll vote for such people?

We know Barack Obama is not a Muslim communist, is not going to declare martial law, take our guns away, pull a coup, take over health care, or any of the other idiotic predictions and charges leveled at him by feckless, brain dead homonculi. Because reality, not paranoid fantasy, is on our side.

You want Bush back? Vote for Romney. You want America to get better? Vote Obama.

      • guest

Yep. Filling in the pot hole two blocks down made me a millionaire overnight.

Keep pumping money into universities so they can build more rock climbing walls and poolside resorts. That will surely lower cost of tuition.

Have bureaucrats tell your aunt she's too old for a hip replacement, stick her in a wheelchair so she dies 15 years earlier, and give the money for Michael Moore's lap band surgery, Sandra Fluke's 20th abortion, and an illegal immigrant's hospital bill for his drunk driving car crash.

Cheer on the big government thieves so they can keep their $15 muffins, $1000 chairs and million dollar Vegas clown shows.

Cry and play class warfare whenever someone tries to reform fraud, just like in the 1990s and 2000s when Democrats crashed the economy to protect their housing schemes. That'll work.

        • Jim_C

Yeah, it's strange that university facilities, most built 50 years ago or earlier, require updates. Yeah, college costs suck, but do we have job training programs to take its place? I'm for rethinking the entire, early 20th century agrarian-based education system. If Republicans have something (besides luxurious despair and contempt for teachers) I'm all ears.

Grandma was already refused coverage by bureaucrats. So what else is new?

"Big government thieves"–bipartisan problem. When this GOP platform calls for trillions more in defense spending than the Pentagon asked for, with no specifics–that's OK?

Middle class got tax cuts from Obama; and the very wealthy may be required to pay tax at Clinton levels after years of exponentially growing and stashing that wealth? Quelle horror! Must be "class warfare." I say tax them at Eisenhower levels, set that number in stone so they can plan on it, and get on with rebuilding a country making do with an infrastructure from the 1950s-60s.

          • Chris Nichols

Why do you think you, or someone else is entitled to someone else's money? What tax cut did the middle class get? Trillions more in defense spending? In 3/12 years the debt has increased 6 trillion by bailing out lazy union bums and other assorted cronies. Tell me how rasing taxes on businesses creates jobs, lowers prices?

      • Western Spirit

          • trickyblain

The funny thing is, the folks who think Obama is an Muslim foreign-born communist totalitarian who hates America? They're not on anything. So what's their deal?

          • reader

One of them is his long time literary agent, quite apparently. Hmmm… Perhaps, they used to smoke joint together, as Obama alluded himself in his own "memoires"…

          • Chris Nichols

Exactly, they are not on anything, so they have a clear mind and can see the truth. Why are you such a sock puppet?

      • Andy H.

You could have summarized your feelings in one short sentence. "We vote for whoever gives us welfare."

        • Jim_C

Hey, if it's good enough for farmers, large corporations, private contractors….

          • Chris Nichols

OH, you mean producers? We are talking about deadbeats, like you. By the way, conservatives are against corporate welfare.

          • trickyblain

So your going to try and elect a man whose wealth is a result of it.

          • Chris Nichols

Really, tricky? Romney's wealth is a result of private sector investment and private enterprise. Obama and Biden have both been on the government dole their whole careers. Try again.

      • Fritz

So how exactly is it denying anyone their democratic right of suffrage asking them to prove who they are and where they reside by asking for some sort of identification? The law says that non citizens are not allowed to vote, neither are convicted felons, dead people, or people that do not exist, like Mickey Mouse or Borat. You are also not allowed to vote twice or in more then one district. They want a photo ID when you cash a cheque, open a bank account, or even enter the Democratic National Convention, the only people who will be disenfranchised by voter ID laws are people willfully committing voter fraud.
As for Obama wanting to take over health care I though that it was pretty well self explanatory. It has been the wet dream of many on the Democratic party to seek what they call "single payer" health care citing the state run systems of Canada, Great Britain, or even Cuba (like Micheal Moore did) as a model. Barack Obama may not be a communist but he is a socialist, he has called himself that at times, and his economic program of growing government and state intervention into the economy, with bailouts and handouts to pet projects and insiders, dovetails with that. None of these are idiotic predictions they are the record of Barack Obama, you would have to be as brainwashed like a Scientologist to believe otherwise or believe that throwing another 4 trillion dollars down the toilet for another four years is going to yield a result other then total economic ruin.

What we watched at the DEMOCRAP Convention proves its "quality" of people and their desperation….
CLINTON had the shamelessness of defending OBAMA's administration "achievements" and what's
    worse yet :
ASKING TO GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE …! ! !
But what really brought me rolling on the floor was their backpedaling on the elimination of the word
GOD in all of their speeches and papers and never mind OBAMA's position on Jerusalem, anything
    but Israeli..

May this be a lesson for the genetically DEMOCRAPJews, unless they choose to wear the same
blinders worn by the German Jews about HITLER in the 1930's….
This convention proved once more the Democrap party's desperation upon the next presidential
election, as this time OBAMA will not be debating with a McCAIN, who didn't dare facing him with
his opposition to McCain's proposed legislation to curb the abuses of FREDDIE and FANNIE,
WHICH WERE THE CAUSE OF THE ECONOMIC DEBACLE, but will debating with somebody who
knows what is he talking about and contrary to OBAMA, who never ran as much as a lemonade
stand, and what is worse yet, CAN PROVE IT……
Let the DEMOCRAPS keep on throwing s..t on the wall as it will fall back on their heads, just
because it takes EXPERTS to make it stick….
And unfortunately for them, regardless of how shameless and demagogic the stunts they are
pulling, neither any of them is any such EXPERT nor there is anything that can be defended of
    such "administration"……

  • jacob

What will be interesting to watch, is what percentage of the 98% of African Americans who elected OBAMA
in 2008, will still reelect him in November and likewise, what percentage of the alleged 60% of American
Jews, down as per polls from the 80% who elected him in 2008, will still reelect him…..

Because then, if and when GOD FORBID is OBAMA reelected, we will able to determine whether, contrary
to the Gettysburg Address statement, it is actually possible to fool MOST of the people ALL of the time……..

    • wsk

      Answer to your questions:
      1. About 98% of blacks
      2. About 70-80% of Jews
      3. Gettysburg Address? I thought it was PT Barnum…

    • jemaasjr

Well, not in the Gettysburg Address. And there are a lot of Lincoln quotes that did not come from Lincoln. I am unsure if this is one.

Under Obama and Hillary Clinton, islamism and antisemitism have become fashionable. US is screwed.

    • oldtimer

      And Israel also.

    • GUEST

It was to only Obama's and Clinton's fault. Antisemitism did not suddenly appear – it just looks so. For years the Leftists and Muslims conducted organized campaigns of vilification of Israel on campuses; liberal media demonized Israel on the pages of the leading newspapers and magazines; Jews acted as court Jews for both, the Democratic and Republican administrations and both administrations has kept the borders wide open to the massive influx of Muslims and Hispanics, both group, while in a different measure and for the different reasons, quite hostile to Jews and Israel.

Bruce Bawer wrote the book "While Europe Slept," now he can write similar book about the US and especially about American Jews, who are still quite esleep.

The split vote on God and Jerusalem was really a split on Jerusalem ( the two were simply bunched together) and reflects unprecedented change in attitude now in the US towards Israel and the Jews. I can only hope, that Jews and their community leaders, such as they are, take a note of what is happening and what is means not only for Israel, but for their children and grandchildren here.

Mr. Kaufman was clearly stung by the rousing speech last night. I am not a Democrat, but it really was the best political speech given in the past decade. Mr. Kaufman really goes off the deep end when he says:

"Yet, it was this same Bill Clinton who, while he was in office, turned to Republicans when he saw that his liberal policies were destroying his presidency."

The man, who was never President is faulting the man who was President for his bipartisanship and lack of fanaticism. That's just plain loony.

    • Mo_

Which specific points mentioned in this account of the evening were false?

    • txn4ever

I think you misread what the article said. It says Clinton morphed from a radical agenda to something more moderate. He had no choice once the Republicans took control of congress in '94. While I despise Clinton the man, Clinton the poltician was very good. There's a reason he was called Slick Willie.

It's our jobs as citizens to fault any and all polticians. What's loony is the proposition that we shouldn't critique others simply because we didn't walk in their shoes. That sort of attitude means we shouldn't judge Hitler, Mao, Ted Bundy, and all the other evil scum bags that come along.

    • reader

You're not a democrat? But you're an Obama voter. Anything to help muslim brotherhood will do.

    • Looking4Sanity

Bill Clinton was never bipartisan by choice. He was dragged to it…shackled, kicking and screaming. He has disgraced himself irredeemably. He has been identified as a liar by no less an authority than the Congress of the United States he got off far too lightly by being disbarred from practicing law. He should be in a jail cell.

  • Ar'nun

I love the new Democrat party Slogan… FORWARD! LOL!

This sounded familiar so I racked my brain and rememebred a history Channel documentary on the Hitler Youth, one of the National Socialist Party slogans in 1930's Germany was "Vorwarts! Vorwarts!" They even had a song that the Hitler Youth sang while marching called "Vorwarts! Vorwarts!". And Vorwarts translated means, FORWARD!

Funny coincidence. Especially after all the delegates booed the idea of Jeruselum being the Israeli Capital, and then booed God.

  • oldtimer

Read "Business Insider" article 9/5/12 by Joe Weisenthal, how it was Clinton's deregulations that started the problems inherited by 0 (and Bush).

  • Guest

Election speeches are meaningless, except that they are a good indicator as to where the political party's membership, or general population stands on issues, thus four years ago, before the successful onslaught of the propaganda changed the public opinion, Obama was against gay marriage, why now he is for it.

Obama thought that he could change his party's platform by removing God and support for Jewish Jerusalem, both he supported in 2008, then he became concerned that the party's faithful might have turned off, now he knows that he can safely throw Israel under the bus and the party's Jews will still defend his a actions, whatever they might be.

It would truly take an idiot to vote for Obama because Bill Clinton gave a nice speech and supported him, or because his wife told us what a great guy he is.

    • wsk

"It would truly take an idiot to vote for Obama because Bill Clinton gave a nice speech and supported him, or because his wife told us what a great guy he is."

      OOPS!

  • tagalog

I thought that Barack Obama, from Day One as President, focused first and foremost on getting the Affordable Care Act passed for about a year and a half.

Did he focus on jobs after that? I thought he was providing a pretty high profile to "investing" (i.e., spending taxpayer money) in enterprises like Solyndra on the apparent assumption that government knows best what businesses to finance. That together with giving British Petroleum the business, touring the Gulf Coast states, and going on vacation.

Maybe he fit the job-finding in somewhere after the "shovel-ready" jobs proved not to exist.

The Democrat Convention is making things much, much clearer than they were before the convention began.

The delegates and speakers at the Democrat National Convention (1) boo down amendments to their party platform that acknowledge God and Jerusalem as Israel's declared capital, (2) when at least boo the amendments down, Villagraisa announces the amendment carried by 2/3 of the voice vote when it clearly didn't, and (3) solicit an illegal immigrant to give a speech at that convention. I guess we ought to be getting the picture of the America this party wants us to live in. A country in which we hire the illegal to speak on the rightness of their illegality, whose leaders ignore the will of the people, and wish ill to belief in God and the stated desires of Israel (on that latter, in exchange for what? Love for the so-called "Palestinians?).

    • Jim_C

Pres. Obama did spend his political capital on the ACA. I think he would have liked to spend more on stimulus (and I wish he would have) but even if he did, I don't think he would have spent it in the right places.

So, you're right: he did a great job accomplishing what no one could before on health care reform. But this effort left him sadly without a plan to tackle the economic problem. In fact his administration was very disorganized on this count.

I think if he went to Speaker Boehner and said, "Here's the deal–I'm spending 800 billion on buying goods and services from the private sector. This is going to adrenalize demand. If you cut the check, I'll make sure you share credit when the job numbers rise," we'd be looking at a new Roosevelt.

But he botched it–internally, and politically. GOP is right to have sour grapes about it. Poorly handled. His gamble, though, was on health care, and I think it will pay off.

    • Jim_C

"whose leaders…wish ill to the stated desires of Israel"?

      Here's the Democratic plank:

The Middle East. President Obama and the Democratic Party maintain an unshakable commitment to Israel's security. A strong and secure Israel is vital to the United States not simply because we share strategic interests, but also because we share common values. The President's consistent support for Israel's right to defend itself and his steadfast opposition to any attempt to delegitimize Israel on the world stage are further evidence of our enduring commitment to Israel's security.

Does Israel want more? "Please sir, give me some more!"

      • American thinker

Credit for much of those policies and aid goes to congress not Obama. He released money to Hamas that congress had blocked. He also forgave Egypts billion dollar debt this week. And don't get me started on what he gives to Pakistan.

As former President Clinton said "Obama needs 4 more years to complete his agenda."
As Obama lead 50,000 Muslim men in a Day of Prayer on the Mall in September (Virgo) 2009 to pray for
"The Soul of America." ( Which was an occult Rite of "surrender to Islam>" and determines the "Future Destiny of America." )One can't help but notice where the Left is going with this so called "agenda." And let me quote a dedication from "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinski (Crisis Strategy, Science of Victimology) "Lest we forget an – over – the – shoulder acknowledgement to the very first radical…The first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did so, so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom. – Lucifer.

Thanks so much for writing this article. They have become exactly what they set out to become. A Party of of "PROGRESSIVE"–SOCIALIST. Leaning so far to the left that even the normal every day dems. did not want to have as thing to do with it.

Do the Democratic really mean that no one could not buy a condom at the local drug store.

Night #1, dems eulogize Teddy Kennedy, the only politician with a confirmed kill in the specious "War Against Women".
Night #2, the dems play host to the lyingest, smarmiest intern molester on the Presidental roster, the only little 'P' president to have changed the name of the Oval Office into the Offal Office with the wave of a magic cigar.

And just which political party is it exactly waging the "War Against Women?"

    • Jim_C

Let's see: Ted Kennedy gets into a car accident; woman drowns. Bill Clinton gets some on the side, wife angry. Never in history has any Republican stepped out on his marriage or abused his position of power in that way.

Meanwhile republicans try to redefine rape; want to ban legal abortion and thus take away woman's right to choose for herself; Sandra Fluke gets called a "sl_t" for the crime of speaking her mind; and generally equate weakness with femininity.

Must be the democrats' war on women. Yeah, um, good luck selling that.

      • JoJoJams

why is "s1ut" a word that will immediately get banned here? Virgin ears or somethign? I had a good rebut for you, Jim, but I'm not going to type it all again. Suffice it to say your stereotyping and hyperbole is ludicrous. But you do have your talking points down! Even if they aren't true.

        • trickyblain

What's not true? Did Akin not refer to "legitimate rape"? Did Limbaugh not call Fluke a "sl_t?

      • Chris Nichols

And your point is? Let's see, you excuse misogynists, murdering misogynists no less, so I guess I can see why you would have no problem with a woman murdering her child. See, abortion should begin with a woman or her partner buying their own birth control, but I remember that Democrats don't think they should have to pay for anything, so they redefine the argument as "speaking her mind" and "right to choose". The taxpayer, however, has no choice but to subsidize someone's destructive lifestyle. Good luck selling that. And what is this redefining rape nonsense?

  • andy

It just struck me. The biggest beef I have with the GOP is their failure to initiate impeachment proceedings during the past two years. There were numerable causes for same. We have a rapist of America on the one hand and a group of sleepwalkers on the other. America is in deep trouble.

    • Jim_C

Andy, I think I have it figured out!

      Either the GOP doesn't know any attorneys, investigators, counselors, politicians, detectives, anyone in government enforcement or really any professional occupation whatsoever;

OR–they (unlike smart, incisive fellows such as yourself) just can't seem to find anything on Obama for which to impeach him.

The Dems keep talking about "saving the auto industry". This is total b.s. All they did was bailout GM and Chrysler for their horrible business decisions. The last time I checked the "other" auto companies were doing fine without government help.

They also fail to mention the $30 billion or so that has not be and will never be paid back as well as the shareholders losses. To do so would mean they would actually have to tell the TRUTH once in their miserable lives.

Having Clinton speak will not garner them one more vote. He is not running for President, is overrated and was only doing this to feed his oversized ego. It was more of a sign of desperation than anything else.

Finally, Obama is and will always be an enemy to America. He hates this country and I can proudly say I feel the exact same way about him. Him and that thing he calls a wife will be counting all the unused campaign money they will steal after getting beat in November.

If the Dems were truly interested in saving the auto or any other industry they would call of their dogs in the EPA, the department of transportation, the department of labor, and the department of energy, and get off their back with all of the overzealous regulations, parasitic fees, and licenses that are strangling the economy and energy production. If they were truly interested in getting off of foreign oil that would encourage the introduction of natural gas powered cars and open up government lands to shale gas and shale oil extraction, this would renew the U.S auto industry rather then forcing them to build glorified golf carts. The U.S government is truly stuck on stupid with this issue and are obsessed with gas mileage with gasoline, but raising the bar of gas mileage in such a way to defy the laws of physics is akin to taking a pair of vice grips and crushing your car's fuel line, sure you will use less gasoline, but crush it enough and there will be no gasoline getting through to run the engine.

I agree that Ms. Veliz is an affront to every legal immigrant to this country. If I were one of them,I''d demand that SHE be deported from this country. I'm not but I still wish she were deported from this country.
