New Democratic Party Platform Betrays Israel

Despite some introductory bromides proclaiming the “unshakable commitment” of President Obama and the Democratic Party to Israel’s security, the 2012 Democratic National Platform, titled “Moving America Forward,” mirrors perfectly President Obama’s decision to turn his back on our closest ally in the Middle East. It represents a radical break with prior Democratic Party platforms, not to mention its counterparts issued by the Republican Party, that have expressed unequivocal support for the Jewish state.

Obama has demanded publicly that Israel agree to return to the indefensible pre-1967 armistice lines with some unspecified land swaps. However, he made no comparable demand on the Palestinians to give up their “right of return” claim under which millions of “refugees” and their descendants would be permitted to populate pre-1967 Israel and destroy the Jewish character of Israel in the process.

In keeping with this totally unbalanced approach, the 2012 Democratic Party platform removes language that has appeared in previous Democratic Party platforms on the Palestinian refugee issue.  The 2004 and 2008 platforms had stipulated that, as part of the peace process in creating a Palestinian state, “the issue of  Palestinian refugees” should be resolved “by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel.” The 2012 Democratic Party platform is silent on the issue.

The 2012 Democratic Party platform is also silent about the status of Jerusalem. Again, while Obama has insisted that Israel negotiate a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 armistice lines, Obama does not appear to have a problem with the Palestinian demand that, as part of the final negotiations for a Palestinian state, the holy city be divided, with East Jerusalem (where Jewish holy sites are located) becoming the Palestinian capital.  This would mean that the people with the longest historical connection to the undivided city of Jerusalem as their most sacred ground have to give up control over their holiest sites based on an artificial division that occurred when Jordan illegally seized the eastern half of Jerusalem, ethnically cleansed its Jewish population and annexed it.

What a difference four years makes. The 2008 Democratic Party platform, on which Obama ran for president the first time, was unequivocally supportive of Israel’s position on Jerusalem: “Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.”

The only reason why the Obama administration did not insist on explicitly reversing this plank in the current platform and chose to remain silent is that they are afraid of the political repercussions among their key Jewish-American constituency.  Just remember Obama’s statement to former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev: “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.” If re-elected, an unleashed President Obama will have the “flexibility” to side fully with the Palestinians’ demands.

The 2012 Republican Party platform has not broken faith with the Jewish state on the final status of Jerusalem:

“We support Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state with secure, defensible borders; and we envision two democratic states – Israel with Jerusalem as its capital and Palestine – living in peace and security.”

The current Democratic Party platform omits any reference to the Hamas terrorists, let alone the decision of the supposedly more moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to negotiate a “unity” government with the terrorist organization while it still launches rockets against Israeli civilians.  The current Republican Party platform, by contrast, states that “radical elements like Hamas and Hezbollah must be isolated because they do not meet the standards of peace and diplomacy of the international community.”

It's not only in socio-economics where the Dems emulate Europe. So goes what Bat Ye'or would describe as the "Palestinianization" of US foreign policy.

I tried asking my former uber kapo senator Cheesy Chuck (you) Schumer what the capital of Israel is. He refused to answer. His office did indicate that Cheesy was looking forward to having his lover George Soros old job of confiscating property from condemned Jews. His aides think he'd be "Very good at it".

    • Kufar Dawg

I've written my senators and congressmen repeatedly complaining about US tax dollars funding the palesimian genocidal jihad against Jews and Israel. Only one senator bothered to respond and her replies were ambiguous and dismissive at best.

Obama is not ever going to love Israel nor protect it. Obama IS an Afrikaner and is not a NATURAL Citizen of The United States of America. OBAMA like Muslims, an evil entity, a deceiver and a slave;, and is lying through his teeth when he says he is a Christian, which, by the way, does NOT EVEN KNOW what it means to be one. Christian's support the country of their Savior, Israel.

    • teq

Actually, "Afrikaner" is the name of Dutch-German South Africans so it doesn't apply to Hussein, whose father was Kenyan, from the Luo tribe. And frankly, it doesn't matter to me whether or not he was born in Hawaii. He was raised in Indonesia by an anti-American mother and never developed an American consciousness. He said it himself when he speechified at the Berlin Wall. "I am a citizen of the world," he pompously declared. Fine, why doesn't he run for President of the World, or chairman of the Un-tied Nations?
The terrorist Al-Alaki was born and raised in America but he was a jihadi all his adult life who desired only the death of Americans. Hussein Obama was, at best, an anchor baby, whose parents made sure he was born in the then-newly formed state of Hawaii so he would have access to all the advantages of being an American without being raised to love and serve it.

    • Asher

Very Well said. Allen Dershowitz just said on Fox News that Israel has always been a bi-partisan issue, and both parties had unwaivering support for Israel, until now. The new Democrat Socialist party eliminated references to Hamas being a terrorist organization, and said Israel should go back to 1967 borders. Obama does not have Israel's back..that has been an ongoing lie since he got elected. Also Michael Oren did not say that the GOP was dangerous, he would never say anything of the kind against either party. Debbie Blabberman Schutz, once again is proven to be a liar!

    • Sunbeam

Agreed. He is a betrayer in every sense of the word. Americans have been deceived into believing his lies. How long is he going to continue lying to the American people. His action doesn't tell us that he's a Christian for he sides and stands by the Muslim. America is in peril and danger to have such a one as Obama as its President. I hope he doesn't retain his vote this November. If it does it will be detrimental to the country and a betrayal to its citizens. Cast your vote wisely because America is in your hands.

      • Kufar Dawg

The zero did refer once, publicly, to his "muslim faith". I've never known anyone to make a slip of the tongue like that. I don't believe he ever bothered explaining it either and his polished lies would be an admired form of Al Taqiyya.

Notice the new logo for the Democratic Party?
Last one was the "Eastern Sun Rising Over The US Flag."
This logo is the "Eastern Sun Over the People."
Obama lead the Muslim Day of Prayer on the Mall where 50,000 muslim men prayed from morning till night in September 2009 They prayed for "The Soul of America."
"This was a Rite of "surrender" to Islam and it determines the "Future Destiny of America."
Since Al Barack Hussein Obama lead the muslim men in prayer,
    we should ask ourselves…
    Who this guy really is.

uh ….the sun rises in the East for everyone . Jews face EAST [ from anywhere west of ] towards Jerusalem . Aside from your asssumption , the sun rising on America is a much better logo than the sun SETTING in the west on America. If Obama’s a “mooozlim ” then there should have been numerous fatwah’s calling for his death, for he has publicly professed severakl time that Jesus is his Lord and Savior [something many christians I know have never done . There’s nothing wrong with praying for the Soul of America [ it needs it ] it all depends on WHO you’re praying to /Obama if he did anything other than officiate as THE Head of State , and indeed raised a porayer for America , IT WAS NOT TO ALLAH , and no he did not pray all night .

    ****BREAKING NEWS*****

Democrats restore references to God, Jerusalem in platform
    Published September 05, 2012
    FoxNews.com

Now the two party platforms are virtually indistinguishable. Both Republicans and Democrats call for the establishment of a Muslim-enemy (terror) state in Israel's heartland.

    Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/09/05/democr

Mr. Klein is accurate in his statement, "The 2012 Republican Party platform has not broken faith with the Jewish state on the final status of Jerusalem." But that is only part of the story. Republicans broke faith with Israel and with me, make no mistake about it. Or at least I should say Mitt Romney broke faith with Israel, by relying on (invoking) Israel's weak prime minister who capitulated (June 2009) to pressure from newly elected president Barack Obama. Over the objections of conservatives on our platform writing committee, Romney surrogate Jim Talent muscled in dishonorable language which once again put Republicans on record supporting a Muslim-enemy state in Israel. Mitt Romney did not shine on this issue.

    Buzzfeed reported:

The draft platform, written by the Romney campaign and committee aides states, "We envision two democratic states," which drew fire from several members of the platform committee.

Three separate amendments to the draft platform were offered and shot down after Sen. Jim Talent, a Romney surrogate who is tasked with ensuring the platform document is in line with Romney's policy proposals, objected to each.

Minnesota delegate Kevin Erickson offered two of the amendments, which would have removed the line, replacing it with tough language on terrorism.

Erickson said he didn't want to pressure the Israeli government BY SPECIFYING THE CONDITIONS OF AN ULTIMATE PEACE (emphasis mine).

Foreign Policy Magazine put it this way: "The overwhelming majority of Republicans don't support the creation of another terror state like the ones that have since been created in southern Lebanon and Gaza," declared South Carolina delegate Randy Page. "We cannot continue to endorse [President Barack] Obama's policy of forcing Israel to negotiate in the face of suicidal risk." Page complained that the party's Israel plank was "a nearly identical copy of the Democrats' Israel platform" (the 2008 Democratic platform also supports a two-state solution).

"In fact, it was President George W. Bush, who in 2002 became the first U.S. president to explicitly call for an independent Palestinian state and in 2007 hosted a conference that, as the Wall Street Journal put it, "enshrine[d] the two-state solution as the mutually agreed-upon desired outcome of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

  • Schlomotion

Like the Obama Administration, this article is full of lies. The first lie is Mr. Klein posing as an American while fully pushing the Likud Party's goals in a American election. This is also the epitome of laziness. If American Jews want the Likud Party platform so much, they should get off their duffs and form the party in the United States and openly run with their seditious platform instead of taking out their venom on the Democrats and flattering and bribing the Republicans.

The second lie is that Israel is our closest ally. That is why Mr. Klein qualified it with "in the Middle East." He knows as well as the next American that that merely makes Israel first prize in a political beauty contest with all ugly contestants, staunchest ally among the betrayers, and most reliable among the nations the CIA distrusts in decades of paper trail.

Third lie is that the pre-1967 armistice lines are indefensible. Clearly they are defensible as Israel was able to go way past them militarily. I think the word Mr. Klein is looking for is "undesirable," not indefensible. He also calls this a loss of "Jewish character." The Eastern Bloc lost its Russian character when the USSR withdrew as well. Do we lament that loss?

The fourth lie is where Mr. Klein claims that US political parties and Presidents are obligated to promise full annexation of Jerusalem to Israel. Nobody has to promise them that. Also, nobody has to promise these foreigners a cheap and easy end run around their own settlement agreements. Now the Israeli Diaspora and both major parties are in a lying contest over who gets to annex Jerusalem. Why don't Israelis just keep their grubby hands off of our electoral process, and stop subjecting our candidates to ridiculous litmus tests?

The fifth lie is that a Presidential candidate even needs "the Jewish vote" to get elected, but parsing that, the more significant part of the lie is that all Jewish voters hold Jerusalem's annexation as a core element of their voting prerequisites? Where is the proof of that? There is none. It is absurd to posit that all six million Jewish Americans are so disloyal to America that they are more obsessed with obtaining a foreign capital than they are with health care, a sound economy, and good schools and highways in this, their country of citizenship. Mr. Klein is claiming that if offended, this constituency will change its jacket again and refashion themselves as an entirely different kind of enclave. Preposterous.

Frankly, the rest of the article is an embrace of neo-confederate principles and wild-eyed conspiracy theories about the UN and a lament that Palestinians might some day get a state. Randomly, Mr. Klein decides that Obama's overtures to the Palestinians are not a lie, but his promises to Israel are lies. Shame on him for making Israel-friendly mendacity the core of his crooked embrace of the alleged lesser of our own severely warped political parties.

      1. His reply is pure bs.

      2. Israel receives more money from the USA than a any other country, which is strong evidence it is US's "closest ally"

      3. These lines were described as indefensible by the US military decades ago. You can google the find the exact quote from the exaact military expert. These lines may have been defensible in 1967 when the Pal Arabs. only had small arms, but not today with today's pal Arab military. Also these lines are less than 10 miles wide, so they are indefensible from tanks which were in play in the 1973 war.

      4. The point here is that just as Washington, dc is the capital of the USA so Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Just as it would be unthinkable for a friend and ally of the USA to not consider washington our capital, it is unthinkable and unfriendly of the USA to not consider Jerusalem Israel's capital.

      5. Jews now have a clear choice. They can chose a us government that likes and honors Israel or hose one that favors the destruction of Israel. The choice could not be clearer and this is a democracy. There is no reason for Jews to be disloyal to the US or Israel as they have The Republican Party.

It's disgusting to see these political toadies fawning over Israel and placing her interests in our political platforms. George Washington, in his farewell address, strongly warned the American people about affection for a foreign nation as the main cause for loss of freedoms. Such affections lead to the ceding of things best kept to ourselves; involvement in the hatreds of the foreign country resulting in retaliations; and the arousal of jealousies in others arising from "… the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists.".

And loss of freedom is what we've got. What America needs is less Israel and more America.

It's becoming depressingly clear that the nations of the world are abandoning Israel. They hate Bibi Netanyahu and so they're taking it out on Israel by ignoring its needs. I expected nothing better from Hussein Obama but now I'm starting to doubt that Romney would move to defend Israel either. He gets along with Bibi but he would be scared of public opinion, which at best is lukewarm for bombing Iran.

I hope Bibi doesn't wimp out on Iran. The nations may desert Israel but God will never desert His Anointed, unless they desert Him first. I'm losing faith that Romney will win and if Hussein wins he will tell Bibi to get stuffed. Israel has two choices; find new allies or go it alone, depending on God. I hope they pick God because history shows that in the end, no one else can be relied upon.

In Sahih Muslim: Book 041, Number 6985:
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

"like sheep to slaughter" is not true! Most of them did not know where they were going. And there were a number of uprisings, in Warsaw, in other ghettoes and in Auschwitz itself. So while you may like the notion of a weak-willed and weak-bodied Jew, you're wrong.

What an orgy of anti-semitism and anti-semitic stereotypes. Are you people sure you're on the right site?

Israel is trying to survive in a hostile-to-the-point-of-open-genocide neighborhood. Traditionally it could look to the US for support, but the current resident of the WH was raised Muslim, bows to the Saudis, and invites the Brotherhood for a visit, while calling for a "contiguous Palestinian state that includes the West Bank and Gaza." A glance at a map will tell you where that leaves Israel.

We should support Israel because it is the only democracy in a sea of anti-jew, anti-christian, anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-freedom throwbacks who want to take over the world.

    • teq

Umustbkidding is on sound grounds biblically speaking. Throughout Jewish history there have been periods of tribulation where those Jews who trusted in Gentile states were wiped out or assimilated and only a remnant returned. God seems to be constantly testing His people in order to purge the apostates so that only the most faithful are preserved. Today the apostates are the "Reformed Jews" (or Deformed Jews, as some rightly call them) who put their trust in creatures like Hussein and who claim to be Jews even though they do not obey any of Jewish Law. The children of these people either return to the Orthodox fold or disappear into assimilation.
It's the same story for Cafeteria Catholics, who claim to be Catholic while totally disregarding Catholic doctrine. On the Day of Judgment only the Orthodox Jews, Traditionalist Catholics and Biblically observant Protestants will stand on the right hand of the Almighty. The hypocrites will stand on His left, and then wail and gnash their teeth when they hear His verdict.

  • Western Spirit

The trouble with Jews in America is that they are blind, as are all those who support this disgrace of a president who apologized for America all across the world and is leading us into oblivion.

All of you Jew haters out there should know that the current State of Israel consists of only about 10% of The Promised Land.

Looks like the Dems saw the writing on the wall so to speak and reinstated the language on Jerusalem that had been in their 2008 platform. Not that Obama will feel constrained by it if he is re-elected. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/dem-party-hea

This will not abate the jews from voting for the demagogs 'dems'. It will make them wary of that 'christian' obama. LOL

    • Kufar Dawg

The zero's brand of Christianity is more akin to Positive Christianity or islam. I'm sure he spends more time reading the islamic trilogy of hate than the bible.

The question is Obama supporting his own policy on Israel and God as articulated that is really the anti God and Israel position? Or is Obama negating their unofficial policy against God and Israel, which is their official policy. Or maybe the delegates are supporting the Obama Policy which really isn’t the Obama Policy to anger their fellow delegates who don’t support the official policy which is actually Obama’s real policy? Or perhaps the delegates are supporting the unofficial policy against Israel and God to look good to the people who are at most risk in supporting the official policy?

Or maybe truth just doesn’t translate well when the narcissists leftist can’t even define truth. Or maybe Obama is just spending too much time with Biden.

    • HighPressure

Clarification on this “God and Israel Democrat Party Platform debacle”. The real meaning is as follows:

1)We really like the God of the Jews and Christians; we just don’t want anyone to follow Him.
2)We really like you Jews, but we don’t care if your enemies drive you into the sea.

      That is their official/unofficial position.

From the days of Walter Concrete on through all the other propagandists we have been fortunate enough to be fed by, The story has always been the same. Israel wants to be accepted by it's neighbors and to be a good neighbor. While Israels neighbors wish only their elimination and death.

Nothing has ever changed in principle. The only variables is the combination of Country's,groups and politics trying to polish the Jews off. The last MAN in Islam willing to give it a rest was whacked.

Now we have witnessed the ridding of all those who knew better and had kept their scalp.

Who would have have ever guessed that the Demoncrats would walk the plank all by their little selves.

There has been a war after every one of these cycles.

Now, with the added benefit of the fundamental change of America.

Watching the Democratic Convention is grounds for violating all FPM guidelines, no wouldn't
do that but the urge is there, the provocation is there but take the high road and keep
things in perspective. Democrats are reaching for their goal, which is being the party of
pure evil led by Mullah Obama, what else do they have, non-evil idiots, indoctrinated dolts,
prisoners of circumstances and in need of cleasing, inside and out………………….William

They should just rename themselves the Muslim Brotherhood. It's really what they're allah about at this point.

Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ehud Barak said Monday that when it comes to his nation’s security, the Obama administration is doing “more than anything that I can remember in the past.”
“I think that from my point of view as defense minister they are extremely good, extremely deep and profound,” Barak, a former Israeli prime minister, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I can see long years, um, administrations of both sides of political aisle deeply supporting the state of Israeli and I believe that reflects a profound feeling among the American people. But I should tell you honestly that this administration under President Obama is doing in regard to our security more than anything that I can remember in the past.” – Politico

Obama personally requested the change in platform . As for disagreement within the Democrats ? What , there was a whole delegation that walked out of the Republican Convention . If there were some in the Democratic Party who would change the statement on Jerusalem shame on them /they were overidden . GW Bush promised as President that he would move the Embassy to Jerusalem /he had 8 years .

    • Kufar Dawg

What does Dubya have to do with anything? Or are you trying to excuse the zero's actions with a Tu Quoque argument?

When did Ehud Barak make this statement? June, 2008?

  • amused

I think Ehud Barak is a bit more qualified to know who freinds of Israel are , certainly more qualified than most of you brainwashed parrots , and most certainly more qualified than the political hack Klein . In fact he went on further to say that Obama has been one of the strongest US Pres supporting Israel in the last two decades. GW Bush threatened to cut off low interest loans to Israel over disputes regarding Israel's settlements , Obama never threatened Israel , in addition to requesting the annual $3 billion in aid as preceeding presidents have , he requested and recieved an additional $70 million for Israel's Iron Dome in the South of Israel . GW Bush made a campaign promise to move the Embassy to Jerusalem / he had 8 years .

You can lie to yourself all you want, a shameless union hack. We all know by now that you'll sell the Jews of Israel down the river for your benefit package. Nobody with eyes open and half a functioning brain is buying it. Israel would not be on the brink right now if it was not for Obama.

    • Joseph Klein

Now you are spinning the Democratic Party's flip flop on Jerusalem, on which Obama only intervened when he saw the political risk in not making the change. Note that the refugee and Hamas references from prior democratic platforms are still missing. You also conveniently leave out Netanyahu's opinion, which is not favorable to Obama to say the least, especially regarding Obama's handling of the Iranian nuclear threat. http://www.israeltoday.co.il/NewsItem/tabid/178/n

      • amused

I'll go by Ehud Barak 's estimation and of course by Obama 's actions in reality . The settlements have been the subject of disagreement with EVERY US administration , and you're right , I left out Bibi's 'OPINION " , because that's exactly what it is , the REALITY of it IS , ACTIONS speak louder than words .Oama maintains the US commitment ,anfd has proved it by despite perrenial disagreements on Israel's settlements , Obama has never threatened to cut off low interest loans to Israel as Bush had , and has requested and recieved additional aid , AND the sale of Jet Fighters to Israel .The dispute with Netanyahu came about after the embarrassment to the US caused by one of Israel's Ministers om oening new settlements AT THE SAME TIME THE US DELEGATION arrived in Israel .So are you saying Ehud Barak is lying ?

        • amused

Those are the things YOU "conveniently left out " Klein .

          • Joseph Klein

As usual, Amused, you don’t let facts get in the way of your sophomoric arguments. And I’ll take the word of the Israeli Prime Minister over his deputy minister on the impact of Obama’s policies on the Iranian threat.

From the Congressional Research Service’s March 2012 report on U.S. foreign aid to Israel (Appendix B) – the highest amount of total bilateral foreign aid to Israel and military aid during the comparable fiscal years of the George W. Bush and Obama terms were 3.745 and 3.086 billion dollars respectively, which occurred during the Bush presidency in fiscal year 2003. http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf

Also from the CSR Report – “In 2007, the Bush Administration and the Israeli government agreed to a 10-year, $30 billion military aid package that gradually will raise Israel’s annual Foreign Military Financing grant from a baseline of nearly $2.55 billion in FY2009 to approximately $3.1 billion for FY2013 through FY2018. For FY2013, the Obama Administration is requesting $3.1 billion in FMF to

            Israel.”

In other words, Obama is simply continuing what the Bush Administraton and the Israeli government had agreed to in 2007.

The Obama Administration’s support for Iron Dome is commendable but it too is a continuation of what the Bush Administration started: “The United States has helped defray the cost of Israel’s domestically-developed short-range antirocket system, dubbed “Iron Dome. Development of Iron Dome began in February 2007.”

The fact remains that beyond the foreign aid, which Obama has continued, he has pushed Israel publicly for major concessions on negotiating a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 green lines which would mean a divided Jerusalem and more insecure borders, without simultaneously demanding that the Palestinians give up their claim of “right of return” to pre-1967 Israel.

        • WilliamJamesWard

Barak is a leftist and a cause of many of Israeli's problems in the past and may
return to his former ways which will put everyone in danger………………..William

      • flowerknife_us

More like a complete lack of principles.Lies are one thing to expect. 180's are a sign of no spine. No core faith-Godless no matter how much they profess otherwise.

    • Kufar Dawg

The zero advocated for Israel's return to the relatively indefensible pre-1967 borders. Land Israel had won through wars started by islamofascist Arab states. Sorry Charley, you lose.

      • WilliamJamesWard

The disturbing facts are that Obama is anti-Israel and anti-American, anti-Christian and his
record of destruction is undeniable, with him we descend into a pit of poverty, leading with
poverty of the soul, may the Almighty protect us from this fraudulent man and his complicit
band of evil doers and blind following………………William

  • BS61

As a former Dem, I am outraged at the progressives who are taking over!

  • Sunbeam

Yes, Israel should rely on God itself instead of relying on others. Obama is a betrayal and must not be trusted. He chose to stand with the injustices committed by the lawlessness in which it was also the root where he came from. He shows what he is now after all these years in office as a President. What else one need to justify further? Israel have every right to defend itself from aggression, notwithstanding the fact it has all the capabilities to do so when it needed to. Obama has been a great disappointment. Americans should have realize this in the first place.

  • alice L.

The Demos showed their true ugly faces when they removed God from their platform and refused to admit that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel. They may fool some voters, but they will not fool the Lord. I have never seen the Demo party fall so low: and let's not even go into the abortion fest that they have been holding. Disgusting.
