Obama-Backed UN Gun Control Treaty on Its Way

In practical terms, in order to ensure against such diversions to unauthorized users outside the United States in violation of the UN treaty, the federal government would need to impose very rigorous regulations and controls on the possession and sale of all guns, together with registration, detailed record-keeping on U.S. gun ownership and surveillance of the whereabouts of privately owned firearms at all times. The treaty could end up giving foreigners access to the records of American gun owners.

Ironically, the Obama administration can be expected to use the results of its own horribly botched Fast and Furious escapade, which led to the unaccounted for diversion of weapons that government agents were supposed to track on the way to Mexican cartels, as justification for strict regulations imposed on gun possession and sale by private individuals within the United States.

Moreover, while the proposed treaty deals primarily with military-type conventional weapons such as tanks, military aircraft, naval vessels and missiles, the category of “small and light weapons” is a different story.  The language proposed in the July 14th working draft does not limit this category to weapons intended and designed for military use. In other words, the UN treaty would extend its reach to guns manufactured and used solely for civilian purposes. Attempts by a few member states to insert a proviso in the operative provisions of the treaty to make clear that its scope is limited to small and light weapons intended only for military use have met major resistance.  Regulation of ammunition is also included within the scope of the current draft treaty language.

In addition to imperiling individual freedoms of Americans under the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms, the treaty language as currently drafted could imperil America’s vital interests.  For example, the treaty could preclude the United States from transferring weapons to help states fight terrorists, on the grounds that the weapons would be helping the states commit alleged human rights violations against “resistance fighters.”  This will surely be the charge leveled against U.S. transfers of arms to Israel, for example.

Regardless of the consequences to Americans’ constitutional freedoms and national security, the Obama administration appears ready to go along with the treaty. It is yet another example of President Obama’s willingness to outsource American foreign policy and individual liberties to the United Nations.

I'm rather sure that LaPierre's block of 58 senators will vote it down and then Obama will issue an executive order or presidential directive.

I just wonder what it takes to impeach an avowed communist.

    • Sprinklerman

The fact that there are at least 42 Senators who have not signed on to the NRA block is very troubling.

Whatever happens this administration had better be ready for armed conflict…we do not recognize any treaty by the UN…the constitution is the Laws of this land..and no lying bunch of Leftwing-Islamists is going to take our Guns!

If it were not for guns this country would still be under British rule (or worse). The founding fathers, in their wisdom, wrote and initiated the 2nd amendment for just that reason. Read the Declaration of Independence, or watch the movie National Treasury, the part when Nicholas Cage is standing before the Declaration, and the part he reads….

I am stealing this from Charelton Heston; So, as we set out this year to defeat the UN and Obama who would take our freedom away under the 2nd Amendment , I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, President Obama,:"I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!"

It must be remembered that the United Nations is an assemblage of governments. i.e: Heads of State and persons of highest socio-economic status within their respective countries.

    1. How many governments therein represented, would be in power today if they had not substantially abrogated their citizens’ individual right to arms?

    2. The individual citizen of a country which is dominated by a multi-national corporation, is in a position closely analogous to that of a straight boy in a boarding school (his country) wherein the biggest bully in the student body (his country’s government) is the headmaster’s (the multi-national in question) favorite catamite. Bullies prefer disarmed victims.

In fact, I do trust the United Nations Organization — for one and only one thing, and that is nurturance and cherishment of severely indecent designs against the liberty of ordinary American citizens.

Ever notice how ardent "gun control" supporters themselves have armed security details and/or concealed carry permits (e.g. Senator Feinstein and Senator Schumer). It's o.k. for THEM to have firearms but not so for the little people, a la George Orwell's ANIMAL FARM.
"Some creatures are created more equally than others."

If this abomination passes, you will have armed conflict here in the US and the traitors that signed on to the UN resolution will have to have a very large security detail to protect them from the citizens wrath.

Everybody should have the right to own a gun, but online gun sales are becoming an issue.

According to the FBI, in 2011, more police officers died in the line of duty than at any time since the terrorist attacks of 9/11: 72 officers lost their lives at the hands of criminals, a 25% increase from the year before. With 85% of the firearms recovered in New York City having come here from other states, illegal firearms are a growing issue.

On line sales are no different than in-store sales.
Federal Firearm Licensed dealers AND sellers and provate sellers are required to ship to an FFL for a transfer and background check.
The only time an FFL transfer is not required is when two citizens of the same state sell a firearm privately.
The Obama administration, Hillary and Holder are all responsible for Gunrunner and therefore are felons.

i agree that certain people should never have a rifle or handgun, however you can't disarm every legal person who at their volition purchases and follows common sense rules of law. the 2ND Amendment provides the right of the individual to possess a firearm and it clearly was placed 2nd in the Amendments so that "you, the citizen can protect yourself and/or your family". criminals will always buy street guns from OTHER criminals. you have an absolute right to "SELF DEFENSE". If you use deadly force it's up to the Police and/or Courts to determine if it was "JUSTIFIED". p.s., this is NOT EUROPE and this Great Country is not a SOCIALIST RUN COUNTRY. If you want cradle to grave Government, move to RUSSIA.

Seeing at how the Arms treaty is headed by Iran, it is the same as having it headed by Nazi Germany around the time of WWII.

This charade has gone on long enough.

  • NoGunControl

I'm sure Obama and crew will tell us "We have to sign the Treaty in order to find out what is in it."

  • Ted G

Obama and Hillary are traitors to their oaths of office.

I support the penalty for treason.

I openly call on congress to begin impeachment and prosecution proceedings against these traitors!

  • ReyRey

But it is OK for this administration to give guns to the Cartels (Fast and Furious).

  • Btrdeadthanred

Reply to Falcon, above: Harry Reid will not allow a vote and the treaty will default to binding status.

Interesting now this UN gun control meeting is occurring less than a week after the shooting in Colorado by James Holmes.
Mr. Holmes from his photos and state of mind looks like another one of those CIA Manchurian Candidates or sleeper agents. We have seen these types in the past. Lone gunmen. On various anti-psychotics and anti-depressants. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Holmes has a RHIC-EDOM implant in his neck.
Radio Hypnotic Intra-Cerebral Control & Electronic Dissolution of Memory
James Holmes being a neuro science major reminds me of the old CIA program called MK-ULTRA(Mass Killings Using Lethal Tradecrafts Requiring Assassination).
This brings back the memories of Dr. Jose DelGado and Donald Ewen Cameron.
BIRTH CONTROL TODAY, GUN CONTROL TOMORROW, MIND CONTROL THE DAY AFTER, THEN WE REST.

The question that has to be asked about the Colorado shooting? WHO BENEFITS?
