"The French Army,in 1940 lasted a shorter time than the starving Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising(1943)."...

... The French Army lasted six weeks, but it's worth noting that the British Expeditionary Force lasted even less than that (and was able to return to England only thanks to the sacrifice of French troops in Dunkirk). During those six weeks, the French (and Belgian, and British) were crushed by superior German tactics and equipment. The French lost 180.000 men (1/3 killed, 2/3 wounded) : their casualty rate was even higher than during WW1, when French fighting spirit made the admiration of the civilized world. And the French didn't just got killed in 1940, they also fought : German casualties were almost equal. Such a bloodshed in such a short time, though dwarved a few years later by what happened on the German/Soviet front, had simply no precedent in human history.

Conferring the status of "victor" to France was smart for another reason : it reinforced De Gaulle's stature and contributed to prevent a Communist take-over (or at least a bloody civil war) after the Liberation.

On the long term, France, in spite of some deep flaws in its domestic and foreign policies, has proved worthy of its UN status :
- nuclear power (btw : not dependent on US technology, unlike the British equivalent) ;
- one of the very few countries able to independently send troops far from their homeland, to gather intelligence through satellites (the world leader in satellite launchers, btw, is French based and largely French-funded ESA, not NASA), and to enjoy one of the best and most extensive diplomatic networks;
- the fifth economy in the world ;
- the second exclusive economic zone (right after the US) ;
- etc.

"Why does France have the status at the UN that it does." ? ...
... Because of the good performance of Free French Forces in North Africa, then in Italy, then in France and finally in Germany. Because after the Liberation of France, the French (thanks to US equipment) had as many men fighting as the British. Because of the importance of the French colonial empire at the time. Because Churchill & Roosevelt were smart. Unlike you.

You might if you are interested watch this film at least until you see what I'm talking about. You'll understand the reason why so many liberals casually talk about dividing Israel, including Jerusalem, as if it's the most rational and just thing to do. If you also read the review I included, that will give you enough clues to why it makes me so angry. I have no personal stake one way or the other. It's just absurd and an attack on Western civilization, using Israel as the present day front of the war. The relevant sections deal with Clinton's last months in office, so we're talking about nearly 12 years ago, and few people have objected to this insanity.

"I think I was misunderstood. My message is filled with deep cynicism and despair at the mere prospect that a Palestinian state would even be considered. "

You're talking motive, not content.

"I was sarcastically implying that they would naturally take the plum of the world for their own and desecrate it by splitting it down the middle or worse. I actually believe this is the probability and indeed very evil in my book. "

Did you not know that you stated verbatim the Clinton position as adopted by Obama? If I am to understand your first sentence as full of despair and sarcasm due to your objection, then the rest makes sense. Let's look at the content of that sentence so loaded with clarifying words:

"That's an easy answer."

Now having pointed out that you did not clearly indicate your position there, I NOW have an understanding of your position but just being full of anger and thinking that you're being sarcastic does not enable people to read your mind when you write ambiguously.

Don't get angry with me please, wouldn't you rather know?

"What would be your guess as to the reality/likelihood of what is about to transpire? Tagalog was inviting conjecture about this imagined state's borders, etc."

I'm very much opposed in no uncertain terms to the fact that anyone can even suggest it. I'd like to think it is so serious that when people speak about it that clarity becomes more important than emotional outlet. In addition, his question does in fact have an easy answer as you say. The liberals speak with the same words you used sarcastically. I believe you, but I'm also warning you. I accept what you say because I know that most people are not aware of the facts nor are they aware of the absurd apologist positions.

I have a documentary video for you to see called, "Elusive Peace" that can easily be found on youtube. It's totally biased, but still so obvious just how far Clinton and others bent over for them, and it has only gotten worse with Obama, which we all know. What most do not know is how bad it was already before we made the mistake of allowing that bum to run for president. Thank Clinton for that. But in any case, the video contains the details of what was proposed both before and after the socalled al Aqsa intifada. Even with biased editing, anyone not blind to Islamic deception can see what suckers our Democratic politicians have been, and the Republicans can't ignore the broad support for these measures and can't completely tear them apart.

"Perhaps if sarcasm and satire are too much"

At least quote what you think your sarcastic reply applies to. We aren't mind readers. It looks to me like you agree that it's realistic to hold Israel responsible for any and all consequences.

That's how I understood your sarcasm, though the sarcastic angle was obviously the only thing anyone could know for certain. Which by the way, doesn't speak well for the clarity of your 2 words.

I suppose we could then just ignore all ambiguous comments, but where does that lead but allowing the liberals to define everything still?

Again, I am being misconstrued and apparently insulted to boot. I was not blaming Israel in any way....but was attempting to heartily agree with Stern. Perhaps if sarcasm and satire are too much of a strain for one's sense of humor they'd be better off on another site.

"Or are they going to carve out "Palestine" from neighboring Arab areas, plus Gaza? "

Hah hah hah, a truly just solution is not what they're after. We all know this.

"what does that say about the U.N.'s promises; won't they be seen as worthless and unreliable?"

Nothing worse than we already do say. Besides, the UN is just a front for the OIC and its interests.

Yes it is. You're simply paranoid. Your silly remark about France is posted already.

Their software script follows rules that are not always predictable by its users. You're clearly talking over your own head.
