The Left’s Obsession with Race and ‘Disrespect’ for Obama

Pages: 1 2

Last week, a “right-wing activist” (according to Michael Eric Dyson, guest-hosting for Ed Schultz on MSNBC) interrupted President Barack Obama as he explained his executive order that bars deportation for at least 800,000 illegal aliens who came to America — “brought to this country by their parents” — before the age of 16.

As Obama stood in the White House Rose Garden and outlined the plan, Neil Munro, a reporter with a conservative website, shouted, “Why do you favor foreigners over American workers?” Based on his colleagues’ reaction, one would have thought he’d thrown a shoe at the President. Reporters and pundits called him unprofessional, rude and even racist for interrupting Obama.

Never mind Munro asked a legitimate question — one that probably wouldn’t have even occurred to amnesty-supporting media: Will this harm the job prospects for struggling young American citizens? (Nor has anyone had the chance to ask Obama why, only a year ago, he told a Univision audience that he lacked the power to suspend student deportations via an executive order.)

Munro, for his part, claims he assumed the President had concluded and wanted to get in his question. Obama holds few press conferences, a matter of frustration to the White House press corp. When a president restricts access to the press, the newshounds grow restless and become more aggressive — at least they should.

In a 1987 article titled, “Why Do Grown Men and Women Shout at President Reagan?” The Associate Press wrote: “They do it for a living … shouting, badgering Reagan for one last word. It even takes place at ceremonies (including) the Rose Garden. … They … blame … Reagan and his aides, who have sharply curtailed opportunities for the press corps to engage the President under more civil circumstances.” Longtime White House correspondent-turned-columnist Helen Thomas often crossed the line when giving commentary that only masqueraded as inquiry. When “questioning” President George W. Bush, Thomas made it clear she opposed the Iraq War and accused President George W. Bush of starting “a war for oil.”

In Munro’s case, MSNBC contributor Julian Epstein asked: “Would the right wing be doing this if we had a white president there? … We’ve never had a president heckled so disrespectfully. We’ve never had this otherness afforded to any other president. And I think the right wing is going to have some explaining to do, because to me, it seems patently obvious.”

Imagine, lessons in civility from the network that gave a show to the race-hustling incendiary, the Rev. Al Sharpton. This “civil rights activist” became famous by falsely accusing a white man of raping a black teenage girl. Sharpton helped foment the 1991 Crown Heights riots, a three-day outburst of mostly black-driven, anti-Semitic violence that one Columbia University professor called “a modern-day pogrom.” Sharpton once called David Dinkins, the black mayor of New York City, a “n—ger whore.” MSNBC also gave a show to Ed Schultz, who once called conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut.”

McCaskill thinks the senate passed a budget, so I guess absurdity is her home base. Donaldson commenting on someone else being rude is exceptionally rich, for those of us who remember him from the 80s.

  • Amused

Indeed , how soon "we forget " , not to worry though , Republicans have more than caught up with the same . How does it go ? "two wrongs dont make a right " ? OR "two rights dont make a wrong " ?

Sorry to inform you truss bridge , but you aint seen nothin' yet .It's gonna get worse before it get worse .No matter who wins in November , we'll just have another , even more contentious DO NOTHING Congress .

Republicans are Republican and Democrats are Democrat , BEFORE they are AMERICANS .And they will continue to prove that , in the next four yrars.

    • Wideband

You've practically made a cottage industry out of missing the point, haven't you? The articles point is not that two wrongs make a right, but that the left never recognizes their own rudeness, disrespect, and bias as wrong AT ALL, but will howl like OWSer forced to clean up his mess when their ox is gored.
As for a “do nothing” congress, BRING IT ON! We have enough laws already that are escorting our freedoms right down the crapper. Let’s see an “un-do a bunch of things” congress. The only thing I want to see them “do” is find the testicular fortitude to stop the imperial Obama from ruling by fiat.

    • tagalog

A do-nothing Congress is a GOOD thing. If God is merciful, He will make it impossible tor them to make any laws for a while. Leave us alone!

"Republicans are Republican and Democrats are Democrat , BEFORE they are AMERICANS … "

Is that kinda like how jews are jews BEFORE they are Americans?

I had this very conversation just yesterday with an associate. This person said to me, straight faced, that "people say they don't like Obama's policies but really they're racist." I couldn't believe this educated, middle aged and successful adult would speak so ignorantly. I asked then, “If so many people are racist how on earth did Obama get elected in the first place? Also, when I say I am against certain of his Policies does that mean I am racist too?” I even gave a "for instance" and sited the waivers Obama granted to 4 countries to use children as soldiers. 3 of the 4 are black African in their make-up. I said if anyone is against black people it would be someone who sanctioned the kidnapping and induction into an Army of its youth. (Continued)

  • StephenD

This person said they doubt this is true (which it is) so I challenged the claim. "If you look into this and find it is true, will you still support Obama?" I asked. Believe it or not, all I got in return was an unsure shrug of the shoulders. Who is the racist here? I think the one that would vote for him simply because he IS Black, regardless of his policies. So when I hear such claims of racism, all I want to say is "Blow it out your A**."

    • Spider

Well said Stephen – Obama was the ultimate candidate for the Com-mi Left to get elected president for this very reason. He was a dream come true because when people became disgusted with his policies any criticism of him would automatically be framed as "racist" and then easily discredited. This would shut down all debate and resistenace to the "transformation" i.e.destruction of our country. This was the plan all along.

    • bkopicz

You hit the nail right on the head: a racist is someone who will vote for some one or against some one based solely on their race, any convoluted counter is BS.

  • Marty

The obama administration is the most racist and anti-semitic in history. Instead of assuming responsibility for its own incompetence, the administration's lackeys continue to blame Bush for everything that has gone wrong. Anyone suggesting that the administration accept its role in bankrupting the country is immediately called a racist. Anyone who suggests that palestinians are terrorists and religious fanatics as well as a political fiction is referred to as a pro-Israel lobbyist. Hopefully, the American electorate will see through this bigotry and ineptness in November and, also hopefully, the current administration will stop violating the Constitution and leave office voluntarily.

I finally realized that in an imperfect world stupid and lying are givens.
And it dawned on me while republicans are stupid democrats are liars.
That's why the Left invariably accuses and projects onto others exactly what they themselves are either doing or feeling, i.e. lying or hating or racism.
It's an effective tactic because republicans usually back pedal when they should be attacking or counter-attacking.
"But I'm not a racist" "but I don't hate people."
Republicans are stupid but Democrats are liars so driven by their own purity and hate for traditional America they will say anything they have to in order to wield power because without power, they have nothing but their own cannibalistic idiocy.
Free people reject the Left when they are informed but thanks to the Leftist media the information well spring is extremely polluted.
Save a whale, harpoon a leftist.

  • Iratus Vulgas

If you criticize Obama, yet don't acknowledge that he"s black, is that racist too? What if you're black, yet are opposed to the president's policies, where does racism figure into that? The liberal race card belongs in a kid's magic trick kit. Intelligent people can't possibly buy into something so lame.

    • Mike Giles

You know I wouldn't be so foolish as to believe that every single racist has disappeared from the soil of the United States – but you know, they might as well have. After the Obama administration, if someone is walking down the street in his bed linen, if will be difficult to use the word "racist". The Obambots will have made it meaningless. By conflating differences of political opinion with race hatred, they will have "legitimized" in a manner of speaking that race hatred.

  • BLJ

Comrade Obama deserves zero respect. He has disgraced the Office of the President and he hates America to boot. He can go to hell and if that makes me a racist then I gladly accept.

  • Russ P.

As Larry suggested, the people who voted for O primarily *because* he is black are the real racists. And look what they've done. They elected an incompetent, unqualified president, then they cowardly label anyone who say so a racist. I can't help but wonder what, in these people's muddled minds, could possibly qualify as non-racist criticism of Obama?

  • Schlomotion

I think it's funny that after every four FPM articles that are anti-black race baiting in tone, they always follow up with Larry Elder or Thomas Sowell saying something about The Left’s Obsession with Race. The race baiting slakes Mr. Horowitz' perpetual anger over Betty Van Patter and the Zionist hatred of Black Nationalism. It also keeps the neo-confederates interested in the website. All this anti-black race baiting is like a junk-food supplement to replace the hatred of Jews that normally glues the hillbilly Christian readership together.

    • Ghostwriter

I just got a phone call from a village somewhere,Schlockmotion. They're looking for an idiot and I suggested that you take the job. The caller said he'd consider it.

    • Ghostwriter

It's funny,a Jew hater concerned about blacks. From what I know, you don't like either race a whole lot.

  • Vic Kelley

Republicans have had to work hard against the double standard for a long time. If John McCain had worked harder against it he would have been elected over the colored token candidate Obama. It is foolish to deny all of the black privilege Obama has benefited from and I hope Mr. Romney will not give Obama any preferential treatment or any deference in this campaign.

All week colored representatives in the U.S. Congress have made outrageous claims against Rep. Issa and others who demand that Attorney General Holder follow the law. It is the coloreds who continue to bring up racism. It is their crutch. It is their destiny to need a crutch.

  • ebonystone

The next time you criticize Obama, and someone calls you a racist, just ask him: "Since when is socialism a race?"
