Obama’s Drive to Disenfranchise Soldiers

Pages: 1 2

Obama has also been gutting the nation’s defenses, hollowing out the military, and literally bowing to America’s enemies abroad, so making soldiers jump a new hurdle to vote seems like an entirely logical next step for the president.

It is thought that American military personnel are more likely to vote for Republican than Democratic candidates. This is why the Democratic National Committee habitually tries to stop soldiers from voting. According to CNN exit polling data, those who had served in the military voted 54 percent for Republican John McCain and 44 percent for Obama in 2008.

Obama’s lead counsel in the new lawsuit is, predictably, pin-striped thug Robert F. Bauer of Perkins Coie.

Bauer is the bottom-feeding barrister who asked the Department of Justice to prosecute Obama critics and fine television stations for daring to carry an ad about Obama’s close personal friendship with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Bauer, Obama’s former White House Counsel, is married to Anita Dunn, the Mao-loving former director of communications in the Obama White House.

Bauer has been instrumental in whitewashing Obama’s radical roots by filing lawsuits keeping a bewildering array of the president’s personal papers hidden away.

In an effort to do damage control for Obama’s 2008 campaign Bauer asked the Department of Justice to probe John McCain’s presidential campaign. Bauer made the mind-bogglingly absurd claim that McCain was engaged in voter suppression by merely criticizing ACORN. “It’s clear nobody in this room could come up with anyone better positioned to scrub the links between President Obama and ACORN and all their affiliates,” Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has said of Bauer. (Obama and ACORN, the seemingly immortal organized crime syndicate, was the subject of my book last year, Subversion Inc.)

Perkins Coie helped Obama hide his original birth certificate from the American public during the 2008 campaign. Obama’s war machine paid that firm more than $1.3 million to keep that document under lock and key.

As of June 30, Perkins Coie was the Obama reelection campaign’s ninth biggest vendor, raking in $2 million – a number that is bound to necessarily skyrocket as Obama’s legal warfare escalates between now and Election Day.

Bauer must have a lot more legal mischief in the works.

Have you bothered to read Obama's lawsuit? The suit asks that military personnel be permitted to vote early, as well as all other Ohio voters. The suit was filed in response to a 2011 "ugly" Republican measure enacted to discourage early voting for Obama supporters (93,000 in 2008). The Republicans are using the military to conceal their effort to suppress Obama supporters.

    • Rifleman

How does allowing military personnel additional time to vote suppress anybody else? Do you even know what the word means?

    • oldtimer

From what I remember, the 2008 election was the first time anyone was allowed to vote before that one day in November. Before 0's vote, everyone voted on that one day…. Why is that not good enough,,maybe because those lazy people still don't have enough time, or it interferes with their activities and the Dems need every vote they can get, soo, give them more time,,,NOOOO….This was set aside for the military and only the military need this. 0bama's frivilous lawsuits, I hope, are not being paid for by the taxpayers…

    • amused

dont bother with the truth Andrew M. -as yopu can see its lost on these rubes …lol….16 thumbs down for you .
It's called cognizant dissonance Andrew , the truth stares them in the face , and they simply ignore it and continue on with their party rhetoric , and reconstruct the lawsuit , to read as they want it to read . The whole STRAWMAN of "fraud in Federal elections " is so small and rare as to justify the other Republican led attempt to restrict voters by misleading people to believe you can just walkin off the street and cast a vote . What they fail to mention of course , is tyhat before you get a ballot , A0 your name must be on the REGISTERED VOTER ROLLS and you must verify with NAME AND ADDRESS , and then get CHECKED OFF to vote . This is why articles like tis are aimed at the ignorant .

  • http://matthewvadum.blogspot.com/ Matthew Vadum

Another conspiracy theorist: "The Republicans are using the military to conceal their effort to suppress Obama supporters."

    It never ends.

    • amused

No Vadum , what you're trying to do is to make that lawsuit state something that it does not state .Where in it does it in any way "restrict " the military from voting ? And it is NOT a "conspiracy theory " regarding the voter card issue , for it is indeed part and parcel an attempt to restrict voters prcieved to be Obama supporters . Every one knows that in order to vote, your name and address MUST appear on the ROLLS at your polling place , and the voter must provide Identification that agrees . That is accomplished with your voter registration card .
Yea it never ends ….republican B.S. that is .

    • Terry K.

In fact, the lawsuit states it's trying to lengthen the civilian early-voting window to that of the military, not curtail the military voting window. In other words, there's no disenfranchisement going on.

Which means that Vadum has gotten his facts wrong. Again.

      • Jim_C

        Yep. Shame, Vadum–but typical.

    • trickyblain

What never ends is you making a fool of yourself by asserting something dramatic, only to be roundly debunked by a twenty-second web search.

      • amused

wait a minute , lolololol….you think anyone of the parrots here have 20 seconds to spare ? Much easier [and feels better ] to embrace the lie and ingratiate the hate …..you know that warm feeling in the belly of mutual hatred . Vadum stokes the flames .

        • Jim_C

They're too busy in meetings right now: "OK–how do we spin this Wisconsin shooting to make it the fault of leftists? Argh, this is one of the hardest spin jobs we've ever had to pull off!"

    • Eric

      Mr Vadum,
It is not a conspiracy theory IF it is true, which it happens to be in this case.
Please, try to stop drinking the Kool-Aid that seems to hamper your open and honest thinking.

  • Andrew M.

You do realize this entire article is nothing than a "conspiracy theory?" Weird, hih?

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLNn2YflwNs Roger

Did you realize that the efforts taken to allow the black panther to walk around in front of a polling station armed was a conspiracy?

  • Oleg

Eric Holder, and the Obama Whitehouse trying to block voter ID laws, and refuse to prosecute the New Black Panther Party for voter intimidation, Obama and most of his inner circle are Chicago politicians, not so weird after all?

    • John C. Davidson

Let's not forget Holder's refusal to arrest Corzine, a real Wall Street Swindler.

  • Oleg

I wonder what sort of dirt Robert Bauer and Perkins Cole may have in the closet, such bottom feeding tactics for a client is a dead give away of other corrupt activities, crooked business dealings, witness tampering, and all kinds of good stuff that could lead to disbarment.

  • Walter

Guess what? AG Eric Holder is due in at Wright Patterson AFB on Tuesday to give a talk on how the obama
administration is going to make sure that all military votes will count! Another example of talking out of
both sides of the mouth by this person. Wish I could be there to stand up and ask him about the Ohio lawsuit
    just to see him squirm.

    • kasandra

Maybe while he's there some intrepid "journalist" might ask holder why his DOJ has been undermining the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act in ways that would allow states to provide absentee ballots to military members less than the required 45 days before an election making it more difficult for them to get their ballots in by the election.

      • amused

That is B.S. kasandra , B.S. that you and Walter have bought lock stock and barrel . I can gurantee that neither of you have read the lawsuit filed , if you had , you would'nt be parroting guys like Vadum …..lol….which is the pavlovian response expected of you . Do yourself a favor , dont take anyones word for it , get up off your lazy butts and read the lawsuit filed . Then come back and tell e that it restricts in any way the military vote . It's no wonder the majority of Republican /Teabaggers / Conservatives are still birthers . Can't be bothered by facts can you ?

        • kasandra

Did you actually read my post It doesn't even address the current lawsuit. It deals with DOJ's waiver of the MOVE Act and conveying to states that if they violate it by shrinking the time by which they mail out absentee ballots to service people DOJ is not inclined to prosecute. This happened in 2010 and has nothing to do with the current lawsuit except that it's yet another illustration of the democrat party's hostility to the military vote. This goes back at least to the 2000 election. I don't buy anything lock, stock and barrel unless it's backed up by what is known in the real world as FACT, which my comment most certainly is. So how about actually reading what you are commenting on which, I notice from your usual comments, is not something you ordinarily do.

  • ★FALCON★

Yesterday Axelrod claimed that Republicans were attempting to shrink the universe of voters. It's quite hysterical considering Democrats invented voter fraud and have filed lawsuit after lawsuit to keep LEGITIMATE voters off the grid.

    • PatD

And if they would read the lawsuit the President Barack Obama's campaign and the Ohio Democratic convention that are bringing the lawsuit claiming that the State of Ohio are affecting the Democrats by not allowing them to vote 3 days early in person. Why are they worried that the Democrats that will vote early will have something else to do??? Most likely they aren’t at a job that would affect their voting ability. There’s a judge that is even allowing 15 military groups to join the lawsuit. If it wasn’t affecting the military members voting, then why would THEY be allowed to join on Ohio’s side? I agree that if this was the NBP actions holder and ubama folks would turn a blind eye!

  • kafir4life

It turns out that Stinky (BO) and Eric ordered the murder of Agent Brian Terry to prevent him from presenting information that Stinky and Eric were involved in making money from the sale of guns to drug dealers. Stinky is hiding behind executive privlidge, and protecting Eric who has information that would sink a Stinky presidency. Stinks and Eric have documents that would prove this, and that's why they're hiding them from Congress. It's incumbent on them to release the documents to the American people.
I'm hopeful we'll get the stink out of the white house in November.

    • amused

No it was illegals in the course of illegal activity…of course they can do what they want now but the oxygen theives in WA just allowed it to run it's course.

  • WilliamJamesWard

Dishonesty is the calling card of the Obama administration. Talk about trying to fix and election,
it once was illegal and jail awaited those who were caught, today add a sleezebag lawyer and
the system full of appointed judges will spin and misdirect to kill votes for the military. Obama
supporters will follow Democratic marching orders 'vote early and vote often'………….William

This is not a new issue and it's not the first time a state has tried to fix the problem.
But this is the first time Obama realized how desperate his situation is.

I served for 22 years and for many years I was not able to vote. I normally received my ballot either after the election or too late to mailit in on time. One time instead of a ballot I received a letter stating that I could not vote because I was not a resident. When I was on active duty on one assignment I was the voting officer and I assisted soldier in helping them exercise their right to vote. Disenfranchisement of military voters is not new. The DNC has notoriously engaged in these activities.

    • amused

22 years ? Eh Bruno ? Hmmmm lets see that includes 3 Bush -Bush jr Adminsts and 2 Reagan Admins . How come they never did anything about "Your Problem " ???? So , it was the DNC huh ?

      • KarshiKhanabad

Notamused, the deliberately delayed mailing of military absentee ballots by liberally minded county election commissions is as old a trick as it is despicable, much like your defenses of this partisan practice.

Why don't you come out of the basement and smell the fresh air? Maybe go get yourself a Chick Fil-A?

Just as they did in 2000 when the Democrats tried to disqualify the votes of the military, they are doing it again in Ohio. Democrats who say otherwise are liars.

  • amused

Nothing new here , both sides foisting a phony barrage of lies and half -truths right up to election day ….and the dumbed-down portion of the electorate suck it up into their too lazy to investigate- heads .
Of course no one will actually READ the contents of the lawsuit to see if the Republican narrative of it is true or not …….WHAT FOR ?

  • dennis x

The facts, the Democrats filed a lawsuit in Ohio requesting the same rights/ time frame to vote as military personnel have. They did not seek to hampper the military, just asked that regular people have the same rights. You red necks can do better on your attacks of the President , how about the old fist bump controversy, ha ha ha !!

    • Jim_C

Oh right–almost forgot the "terrorist fist bump!" LOL! Hey, at least that "controversy" had substance!

    • patd

The red necks serving overseas and on ships from Ohio can't get off the boat and go vote now can they? So what is the deal that the Ohioans would have to get off their dead asses and vote when authorized? As evident from your post you have never served this country or are just to ignorant to see why military vote early…it's absentee voting you idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!! We just can't fix stupid but a bullet a day would cure many problems….

      • dennis x

Yo neck, why would you demand an unequal voting time frame ? As important as voting is, but no one is suggesting curtailing the military vote. You don't know anything about me and trust me your ignorant trailpark behind doesn't want to know.

  • Rick_in_VA

    Did you read the lawsuit?

  • amused

Last month, President Obama’s re-election campaign filed a lawsuit against Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted to demand that in-person voting be allowed during the three-day weekend before elections. It noted that approximately 93,000 Ohioans voted in the three days before the 2008 presidential election. The lawsuit argues that all Ohio voters should be permitted to cast ballots that weekend, as members of the U.S. military are permitted to do. The complaint alleged that Ohio’s legislature failed to justify the disparate treatment between military and nonmilitary voters, and contended the "unequal burden on the fundamental right to vote violates the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution."

Vadum and fellow lackeys , please show WHERE in the lawsuit , ia there any attempt to DISENFRANCHISE THE MILITARY VOTERS .
