Releasing the Blind Sheikh?

Pages: 1 2

The Obama administration may give a get-out-of-jail-free card to an Islamic terrorist whose group helped to ignite a wave of deadly attacks last week against U.S. diplomatic missions in the Middle East.

The U.S. Department of State “is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as ‘the Blind Sheikh,’ for humanitarian and health reasons,” The Blaze news website reported, citing a confidential source close to the Obama administration.

On September 10, the day before terrorists assaulted the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, Abdel-Rahman’s terrorist organization demanded the release of the Blind Sheikh and all detainees in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. His group, Jamaa Islamiya (also known as al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya or, in English, Islamic Group), is linked to al Qaeda. At least two of the other groups that demanded Abdel-Rahman’s release — Islamic Jihad and the Sunni Group— also have al Qaeda ties.

The new Islamist president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi, considers Abdel-Rahman to be a U.S. political prisoner, and has asked the Obama administration to release him.

The Arabic language newspaper al-Arabiya reported more than six months ago that the Obama administration offered to send Abdel-Rahman to Egypt as part a prisoner swap. Called the “Emir of Jihad” by some, Abdel-Rahman is a spiritual leader to al Qaeda and other militant Islamist groups. He would almost certainly be hailed on his return to Egypt as a conquering hero for attacking America, the “Great Satan.”

It was unclear at press time if the 74-year-old Abdel-Rahman, convicted of “seditious conspiracy” in 1995 in connection with the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, was suffering from any particular medical condition that might justify such a release. Now serving a term of life imprisonment in the United States, early in life he went blind after becoming diabetic.

The Blaze indicates the State Department has “neither confirmed nor denied the report,” but Dean Boyd, a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Justice, trashed the report. “The assertion that the Blind Sheikh may be transferred to Egypt is utter garbage.” Boyd piled on the rubbish metaphor adding that suggestions that there are “discussions to transfer or release him are absolute garbage and completely false.”

Of course it might be wise to take Boyd’s remarks with a grain of salt. Boyd works for the same Department of Justice that collaborates with the George Soros-funded attack group Media Matters for America to spin news deemed harmful to the Obama administration. Hard-driving investigative journalist Matthew Boyle of the Daily Caller reported yesterday that internal emails from the DoJ show that the pretend media watchdog works with embattled Attorney General Eric Holder’s communications staff “in an attempt to quell news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and America’s top law enforcement agency.”

The Blind Snake will never get out of prison alive.

Sheikh Omar giving approval to terrorist attacks in NYC: "It is lawful to bring down the enemy's edifices and citadels."

Rest assured, Obama Admin. officials will deny ANY intention to release this monster….until AFTER the election. Just one more reason it's imperative that Romney wins.

    • SHmuel HaLevi

I agree with your time table.
In the meanwhile Mr. Pollard that never planned to blow up buildings or create mayhem of any kind, is kept in prison for life. I rigidly reject spying. But we have seen multiple spies getting out in short times. In fact it is widely known that the CIA and NSA both maintain a large contingent of operatives in Israel.
All said. I expect that the administration will make two "deals" either just before or after elections.
Mr. Pollard is unlikely to survive for long after any "deal".

      • Rifleman

Pollard would be out by now if he hadn't stonewalled the investigation into what was compromised. He's paying the price for that, so he's right where he belongs.

        • SHmuel HaLevi

Well… Spies are not in general bound by ethics as we, mere civilians are. Not Pollard or the present day US spy crews operating here…
About two weeks ago it was disclosed to the MSM here that the Israeli counter I "visited" several apartments housing some of them. I would guess, given that such information is released to the media only if strictly cleared by the Mil Censor, that something was meant by the suave report.
One would expect that all spies WILL eventually spill the beans given that if they are snared there are no Geneva Convention hideaways available for them.
Apparently Pollard is the ONLY spy ever that resisted disclosing under the kind care of the CIA and NSA and other expert interrogators. Hundreds of USSR, Chinese and many other spies have been freed. Not Pollard.
Rifleman, there are codes of conduct in place between agencies.
If one side breaks that, it can expect the other to at the right time also break it.

          Now…
Could please tell us how do you know that Pollard did what you say he did…?

          • Rifleman

Everybody spies on everybody, friend and foe alike. It’s the nature of intel. There have been times friends spying on friends has gained intel that when put together with other intel saved the day for both. It's happened both ways with England and Israel. We're a lot more cordial with our allies when they are caught (and they with us), and lenient providing they cooperate with the damage assessment. Pollard didn’t, so they either had to make an example of him or nobody would cooperate in the future. That's why I say he's where he belongs.

I know this because from ’88 to ’92, I was assigned to a command level commo outfit that worked closely with FORSCOM and CENTCOM. SW Asia was our AO. We got excellent counter-intel (and counter-terrorism) briefings and classes, and the Pollard case was used as an example. It's not classified info (in fact they wanted it known), and I've also seen it in at least two civilian publications, though it was so long ago, I don't remember where.

      • objectivefactsmatter

"Mr. Pollard that never planned to blow up buildings or create mayhem of any kind, is kept in prison for life"

Pollard is a political prisoner. The spying he performed actually served the US interests but it was not considered politically acceptable to openly share it openly.

It is absolutely amazing how deceitful and cunning our fearless leader has become. I would not be at all surprised if Eric Holder is not behind some of this deceit too. The next information in accordance with this new strategy will be the release of the 9/11 bombers, then the release of the Fort Hood shooter. I am fantasizing, but maybe being realistic too. It is not beyond the possibility of becoming fact. Support Mitt Romney, I don't want a liar and a thief as President of the United States of America, and that is what you will get if Obama is reelected.

    • oldtimer

But the Ft.Hood shooter was workplace violence(sarc.) I guess they can come up with some excuse, like he's old or has cancer and only has a short time left(sound familiar). They both should have been gone long ago by firing squad. I quess 0 is considering presidential pardon, or executive order, after all they did cave in to the demand that the film maker be arrested,(detained).

    • objectivefactsmatter

"It is absolutely amazing how deceitful and cunning our fearless leader has become."

He truly is an enemy of the state. Amazing we have people during this time marching for "social justice" while the very foundation of our nation's wealth and strength is being bartered and given away.

Delusional collectivism may need to be outlawed, never mind alleged blasphemy.

We should release the blind shiek…at the same altitude as his target, the WTC. Is anybody giving odds on obama pardoning lynn stewart?

I have a solution. We place video cameras in his cell and show him being served non-halal food from this moment until his natural death. We don't need to violate our standards of morality to show we are superior.

Screw these outrageous standards for "cruel and unusual". Time to return to more reasonable standards for speech, and prisoners accommodations.

This addresses both major issues in one shot. This is how we respond to your "religious feelings" and your demands. F you to hell.

I'm getting ready to march on Washington any day now. Time to start planning…Saudi funding of politicians also must be outlawed. Starting now!!!

Help me with a list of demands and we can choose the top several issues to bring these liberal islamo fascists to heal without breaking any laws, but rather restoring correct interpretation and implementation of our founding principles.

Sending him back is god awful stupid. Look at the terrorist who blew up the Pan Am airliner and killed all those kids.

The only way we should release him to his terrorist friends is if we irradiate him, give him one of those superbugs from India, and implant gps trackers and then launch the cruise missiles when the contagion stopped spreading.

    • objectivefactsmatter

"Sending him back is god awful stupid. Look at the terrorist who blew up the Pan Am airliner and killed all those kids."

That was bad enough (and Libya by the way). At least then it was not blatant caving in to Muslim blackmail. At this point, releasing him will lead to immediate escalation in terror attacks. They will smell our blood in the water if they don't already.

"The only way we should release him to his terrorist friends is if we irradiate him, give him one of those superbugs from India, and implant gps trackers and then launch the cruise missiles when the contagion stopped spreading. "

And then make sure the survivors know that the rules have changed and we did this intentionally. The missiles might not be an obvious enough clue.

I wonder the Jewish organizations whose members voted massively for OBAMA's election and who at least

Last week, they attack our embassies and kill a number of Americans. They demand that the U.S. release the Blind Sheik.

President Obama apologizes ON OUR BEHALF for some reason for offenses to Muslim sensibilities that the United States didn't cause. Personally, I'm offended by that, but I don't expect any apology. I'll just cling to my guns and the Christian God and thank Him that He made it so that I live in America and not Galootistan.

This week the U.S. seriously considers releasing the Blind Sheik.

One: what ever happened to "we don't negotiate with terrorists?"

Two: what ever happened to the idea that when you get bullied, and then you do what the bully wants, you've just increased the likelihood you'll be bullied again? I mean, I know we now live in Girly World, but bending over for these thugs is not the thing to do.

Three: where's the U.S. Naval fleet standing off the coast of these countries, jets fueled, armed, and ready?

Four: didn't we just send a message to the bad guys that they won? And that we're asses?

    • objectivefactsmatter

This why you never treat muslim terrorist in a law enforcement capacity. You treat them in a military and intelligence capicity. The only thing that should be done with them is hang them all with a pigs foot shoved in their mouths and filmed. Bodies should be burned.

But now we are finding out that Hilary is involved with this release. This is getting more interesting by the minute. If this were done before the election, it would be a Republcan landslide of biblical proportions.

    Ladies and Gents,
    It isn't just Obama.
The impulse to sell out and appease is ripe and ubiquitous at the State Department.
Romney needs to send in a hatchet man and get rid of the Quislings and sell outs.
