First, They Came for the Catholics

Pages: 1 2

President Obama and his radical feminist enforcers have had it in for Catholic medical providers from the get-go. It’s about time all people of faith fought back against this unprecedented encroachment on religious liberty. First, they came for the Catholics. Who’s next?

This weekend, Catholic bishops informed parishioners of the recent White House edict forcing religious hospitals, schools, charities and other health and social service providers to provide “free” abortifacient pills, sterilizations and contraception on demand in their insurance plans — even if it violates their moral consciences and the teachings of their churches.

NARAL, NOW, Ms. Magazine and the Feminist Majority Foundation all cheered the administration’s abuse of the Obamacare law to ram abortion down pro-life medical professionals’ throats. Femme dinosaur Eleanor Smeal gloated over the news that the administration had rejected church officials’ pleas for compromises: “At last,” she exulted, the left’s goal of “no-cost birth control” for all had been achieved.

As always, tolerance is a one-way street in the Age of Obama. “Choice” is in the eye (and iron fist) of the First Amendment usurper.

Like the rising number of states who have revolted against the individual health care mandate at the ballot box and in the courts, targeted Catholics have risen up against the Obamacare regime. Arlington (Va.) Bishop Paul Loverde didn’t mince words, calling the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services order “a direct attack against religious liberty. This ill-considered policy comprises a truly radical break with the liberties that have underpinned our nation since its founding.” Several bishops vowed publicly to fight the mandate.

Bishop Alexander Sample of Marquette, Mich., asserted plainly: “We cannot — we will not — comply with this unjust law.”

It’s not just rabid right-wing politicos defying the Obama machine. Pro-life Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania denounced the “wrong decision.” Left-leaning Bishop Robert Lynch threatened “civil disobedience” in St. Petersburg, Fla., over the power grab. Lefty Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne wrote that Obama “botched” the controversy and “threw his progressive Catholic allies under the bus” by refusing to “balance the competing liberty interests here.”

White House press secretary Jay Carney blithely denied on Tuesday that “there are any constitutional rights issues” involved in the brewing battle.

I believe that after all have fallen Islam will be left standing. Isn't that the plan?

    • joy52

I agree. Obama's plan is to use the Catholics' win, and they will win, to justify letting islam have its way in the US. Notice how quiet CAIR et al are whenever something on abortion or contraception comes up? Islam opposes contraception and abortion too, but they would not think of supporting Catholics. They will let Catholics fight this battle because they will want to treat women and children unequally, ban dogs, abuse animals, kill Jews, apostates, non-muslims, practice pedophilia and sex abuse and force their religious beliefs in public(so we can watch them bang their heads on the sidewalks and at work) all in the name of religion.

      Two can play that game.

      • joy52

I do think the Catholic Church is right to fight this, but just watch for step two from the MB.

    • Jellobiafra

I believe that Islam was never standing, but rather crawling on it's knees. How does a crawling, backward death cult have a chance of overtaking an enlightened world? Answer: it doesn't.

      • aspacia

With the sword and Taqiyya. Our leaders are too stupid to realize they are being duped.

  • Ray Czar

People of all religious faiths should oppose this abuse of power!

This phoney in the white house has portrayed himself as a Christian,
in words only. Has demonstrated, by his actions, that he is either a Muslim
or a Muslim sympathizer. Now he wants to force this crap down our

All you supporters out there of Obommer need to have a reality check!
I'am not talking to all his hard core radicals (their beyond hope),
I'am talking to all you (mostly christian protestants),
gullible fools who were suckered, and deceived by this clown.
This guy is bad for America!

Vote this dictator and chief out this election year.
For the sake of our political and religious freedoms!

Read the one page 'God authored Bible' proof at and then study the Koran. You will find hatred of everything that God loves and established. Allah is not the God of the Bible.

The ungodly have been blinded by greed, lust, power … pride and they are creating a time when 'right is wrong' and 'wrong is right'. There is no reporting of the Judeo-Christian who are being slaughtered around the world in Muslim areas and the removal of their tenets from society. These facts are encouragement to and welcomed by the UN, NeoCon’s and the ‘One World' leaders.

God created this universe and nothing mankind attempts will change his plan revealed in the Holy Bible written by God

We must join with Catholics opposing this. I tried to warn my pro-life activist Catholic neighbor who argued in favor of the Bishops in their support for Obama-care. Obama is a racist and an anti-Semite. One should never trust a racist nor support a racist nor cut a deal with a racist. I just did a quick Google search to verify my conversation with my Catholic neighbor back in 2009. This piece appeared here on this site.

excerpts: "No group has done more to promote the public funding of abortions than the Catholic bishops of America. That might well surprise them, flushed as they are with their success in making a deal in the House in which they supported passage of the Pelosi bill in exchange for an amendment barring public funding of abortions. But when you make a deal with people whose strategic goals are diametrically opposed to yours, you must be careful that what you get is not a temporary tactical retreat that can be reversed at any time, while what you have given is a huge and lasting strategic advantage….

…The archetype of the suicidal short-sighted deal will always be Neville Chamberlain’s Munich pact with Hitler. What Chamberlain got was temporary and unreliable: a promise……In September of 1938, not even the most dedicated and energetic Nazi did as much to propel Nazism forward as Chamberlain did….But this is the kind of one-sided bargain that all of these groups have been making with ObamaCare: in exchange for assurances that are worthless,"

For those of us who love history, the record is clear. Pope Pius XII (John Cornwell's "Hitler's Pope"), German Catholic Bishops, Cardinals and other Catholic leaders and laity fell in line with Adolf Hitler. As the back cover of Cornwell's book put it, "Eugenio Pacelli, Pope Pius XII negotiated an accord (a concordat) with Adolf Hitler that helped the Nazis rise to unhindered power – and sealed the fate of the Jews in Europe."

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

    • Francisco Bravo

wildjew, I almost agree with you 100% but for the part on the Pope.Sir you keep repeatting a lie started by a Nazi. Please read The Myth of Hitler’s Pope .By the way the Writer is a Rabbi . David G. Dalin

      • teq

Before he became pope, Pacelli gave several fiery speeches denouncing the Nazis. And he saved many Jews, I believe it was 25,000 — which earned him the Righteous Gentile Award.
Pacelli's problem was that he was a coward. When brought face to face with the Fuhrer he lost his nerve and capitulated. Most people were terrified of Hitler and the Nazis and went along with them because they were afraid of what the Nazis would do them if they didn't.
As leader of the Roman Catholic Church, the pope is expected to stand up to evil, even at the risk of his life. Pacelli's failure to do this makes him one of the bad popes in my opinion and I was shocked to hear that the present pope wants to make him a saint.
Look up Pacelli's biography. At the beginning he was a "rock star" who drew huge cheering crowds, just like Obama did. But they were both cowards. I think Obama is so scared of his leftist base on election year that he'll do anything they tell him to — just like Pacelli did with the Nazis. Obama and Pacelli are the two biggest cowards in history. I say this as a loyal Catholic and I am ready to take to the streets to fight this evil bill.

        • Francisco Bravo

Nobody accused the Pope for anti-semite behavior until a pervert Nazi created a fictitious play against the Pope. Rabbi David G. Dalin will enlighten you and stop you from perpectuaing a devious MYTH. you much rather believe Nazi or former PM like Golda.

          • WildJew

Francisco, there are many scholars who have studied and written extensively about Pope Pius XII, beyond journalist John Cornwell. I've got several of these on my shelf.

"The Catholic Church and the Holocaust, 1930-1965," by Michael Phayer, "The Catholic Church and Nazi Germany" by Guenter Lewy, "Under His Very Windows by Susan Zuiccottii, "The Battle For Rome," by Robert Katz, "Britain and the Vatican during the Second World War," by Owen Chadwick, etc.

Wikipedia: The following is the caption Yad Vashem affixes in English and Hebrew to two photographs of Pius XII in its Jerusalem memorial:

"In 1933, when he was Secretary of the Vatican State, he was active in obtaining a Concordat with the German regime to preserve the Church's rights in Germany, even if this meant recognizing the Nazi racist regime. When he was elected Pope in 1939, he shelved a letter against racism and anti-Semitism that his predecessor had prepared. Even when reports about the murder of Jews reached the Vatican, the Pope did not protest either verbally or in writing. In December 1942, he abstained from signing the Allied declaration condemning the extermination of the Jews. When Jews were deported from Rome to Auschwitz, the Pope did not intervene. The Pope maintained his neutral position throughout the war, with the exception of appeals to the rulers of Hungary and Slovakia towards its end. His silence and the absence of guidelines obliged Churchmen throughout Europe to decide on their own how to react."

          • aspacia

Bonhoffer, and many others knew. The Cardinal was an excellent fictional play regarding the behavior of Catholic Church during the Jewish persecution. It has only been in recent years that the church has removed the "Jews killed Jesus" mantra from its teachings.

You are a good man, Wild Jew

      • teq

I agree.. I've been following WildJew's posts for a few years, here and elsewhere on the internet and I've been impressed by his courage, diligence and constancy (not to mention the fact that he's a powerful writer).
Our side has superior people and that's why we're going to defeat the gutless, witless leftists and terrorists.
Keep it up, WildJew! As for you, "Mad Jewess", keep on being mad! Godless leftists cringe when faced with the wrath of the Lord.

    • jbiafra

The church believed that if they were wiped from the face of the earth by the Nazis they would have no hope of helping anyone. The church is made of men and women and they are all different – some are brave, come cowardly, some racist, some are dishonest. As an institution the Catholic church hoped to protect as many people from the Nazis as possible. As individuals mistakes were made, as they always are in matters involving human beings.

  • mrbean

Did you know that it was the various Catholic orders of Nuns that established hospitals and training for medical nurses in North America long before there were any public hospitals. And safe havens as women's centers for unwed mothers and for abused women? NOW is just a lesbian recruitment organization run by Marxist man-hating frminists.

You know, if the most ardent proponents of abortion can have the most abortions while the most ardent opponents of abortion can have the most children, the law of population shifts will take affect and the proponents will disappear, never to be heard from again. Besides, the more the radical feminits talk, the bigger holes they dig for themselves and the bigger fools they make out of themselves.

    • Carl

I honestly don't think the most ardent proponents of abortion ever had one. The voices yelling the loudest in favor are women personally detached from the issue who have had no actual experience with it; they've never even stepped foot in an abortion clinic. They're on the outside looking in, yelling like fools about a subject they know nothing about really, but that doesn't stop them of course from dictating and assuming they know the truth. If they did, their voices wouldn't be quite so loud, they wouldn't be so arrogant, and they'd realize there's nothing to cheer about when it comes to making such a decision.

    • Arbera

They acquire our children to propagate themselves through indoctrination in our school systems and universities. Socialism/communism is being taught in our schools. California is forcing the teaching of homosexuality and preventing any negative comments regarding the lifestyle. They propagate themselves through forced indoctrination, our corrupt media, and lies. Our culture is innundated with their ideology.

  • tagalog

The Roman Catholic Church survived the Protestant Reformation and it can survive the debate over abortion, abusive priests, and all the other things that plague it in these modern days. The Church just has to have some character, and stick by it.

  • oldtimer

Another attack on Christians is being waged within the Christian community with the introduction of Chrislam. (
The Wycliffe Bible Translators, for one, has printed a Muslim friendly bible.
All references to God, as Father and Jesus, as Son or Son of God have been removed.
For an example, Matt. 28:19 reads: cleanse them in the name of allah, his messiah, and his holy spirit….In the quran, Jesus is just a human, not Emmanuel, God with us, as in the KJV bible
All Christians need to stand firm and protest such attacks on the very foundations of our faith.

  • kongMing

In b4 someone posts 'religious fascism':

Dante portrays the initial suffering one incurs due to humanity's immorality as a massive storm throwing thin weaken people about in its winds.

This problem is due only to believing people are no different than animals and fervently preaching against any restraint. The evils of killing the unborn, mentioned directly by Jesus as the epitome of the world's hatred, can easily be prevented along with a lot of problems today.

  • Francisco Bravo

Just think about , why prominent Jews begged the Pope to act in tiheir defense as discrete as possible so as not to enrage Hitler even more. HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS DEFENDED THE POPE. Newsweek one of the most leftist American magazines to their credit completely discredited Cornwell.. Not all scholars are honest and learning from a fellow Rabbi like Galin won’t hurt.

FROM Knocking Over the Wall: The Suppression of Church by State:

Observe what is necessary to bring a minimum of coherence to the argument: an equivocation between "the public primarily" — the private citizens who work for or patronize these private institutions — and "the public rules" — the dictates that government wants to force upon these private parties. The bill "restores the separation of church and state in the insurance market" only in the sense that when the "State" invades that market, the "Church" must go — state imperialism in practice. Observe also the real motive: the dubious insulation of employees from what Leftism labels the "economic power" of employers. In practical terms, prospective employees who don't like the benefits package offered by a religious employer will flock to his secular competitors — something that millions of people do every day. (Conversely, there are many religious "customers and employees" who very much want a company that reflects their values — something that "progressives" have no problem understanding when it involves their values.) Finally, observe the fundamental principle: Socialist imperatives supersede civil liberties — déjà vu encore une fois.

You're right. Obama is weak. I have come to believe that he is just a puppet who works for stronger, wealthier interests overseas. Obama the man would crap himself if the citizens of this country opposed him in force. His handlers are trying to divide us and we should not let ourselves be divided. They want to break us up by race, income, religion, etc. so that our system will be easier to topple. What we should do then is to stick together, come hell or high water.

  • catie

I am waiting for Bishop LoVerde to not allow Kathleen Sebelius to receive communion since she lives in his Diocese. I want these Bishops to not only fight this but to quit giving communion to Pelosi, Biden, the Kennedys, and all of the Catholics for Choice crowd.

Right, and the Mormon Church should be banned because of Jeffries, and the Episcopalian Church because of the McMartin scandal.

If you are atheist, fine, you are free to be atheist, or practice any other faith, but in order to retain this right be tolerant of nonviolent faiths.

Look at the abuse of natives when the christians were stealing north america.

        • aspacia

Look at how the Native Americans tortured each other. They skinned their enemies alive; they cut out their hearts while alive; they cut fetuses out of the womb. Slavery was a common practice in many tribes.

I am a Deist and prochoice, albeit this is another control mechanism that O is implementing on all the sheeple. The hospital is private, and the government has no right to tell it what to do; they were not bailed out like GM.

  • aspacia

This is simply another one of O's power grabs. Frankly, I am sick of the government telling me what to live, and how to behave. These hospitals are private, and as such, they can be run according to the dictates of their owners except if they discriminate against gender, faith, race, etc.

When will the Obama administration demand that Catholics have forced abortions? Isn't that what Communist China has been doing, although to all its citizens?

  • Amused

When ? probably tommorrow , and then you'll see Catholics leaving the US en masse . .Of course no one saw this coming , "forced abortions " of catholic babies have been going on right under our noses all along . It never happened under Republican Presidents though , so that made it undetectable after Clinton and before Obama .RUN FER YER LIVES CATHOLICS!!!!!

Evil flourishes and men who oppose evil oppose one another. Jews vs Catholics vs conservative secularists….all on prominent display on these posts. My my my what dissension is created when evil runs amok. To all of you I say bury your differences on this forum and focus your energies against Islamist evil instead of one another. Resurrecting slanderous lies against Pope Pius doesn’t help does it? Arguing about what happened (or not) to the Native Americans at the hands of our “forefathers” doesn’t help does it?
