The Fantastical Myth of ‘Middle-Class’ Joe Biden

Pages: 1 2

This has got to be the bazooka of all Joe Biden blowhardisms. The nation’s vice campaigner in chief went on the attack against Republicans this week, clad in full populist armor. “These guys don’t have a sense of the average folks out there,” said The Everyman. “They don’t know what it means to be middle class.” But who was his audience?

Nope, not blue-collar workers in Allentown, Pa. Biden was speaking to an exclusive club of $10,000-per-couple campaign donors gathered at the home of the Senate’s $200 million man, Democratic Mass. Sen. John Kerry, in Georgetown, D.C.

That’s smack dab in the middle of Beltway America, where they like a twist of cognitive dissonance with their aperitifs.

The White House is once again drawing on the fantastical myth of middle-class Joe to portray Republicans as out-of-touch elitists. A Washington Post headline described Biden “digging back into his roots to move Obama forward.” But the administration’s leading populist poster child is a wretched symbol of entrenched Washington power. And his fables are getting oldy-moldy.

At another campaign event in Ohio, Regular Joe rolled up his sleeves and pumped out the common-man colloquialisms. “It’s good to have a dad in the automobile business, man,” he said. Yeah, man. Preach it, man. Oh, hey, weren’t you the man who savaged average-guy Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher in Ohio four years ago by lying about his income and mocking his American dream to own a small business? Man.

While Biden’s family came from humble beginnings, the wheeler-dealer politician and his family (including two lobbyist sons) have reaped the benefits of public office for nearly a half-century. The entrenched senior senator from Delaware amassed wealthy donors and crooked cronies over six Senate terms. These are some of the stories, reported in my book “Culture of Corruption,” that have been whitewashed out of the loquacious veep’s campaign folklore:

—Biden’s custom-built house in Delaware’s ritziest Chateau Country neighborhood, assessed at $2.5 million four years ago, is the Bidens’ most valuable asset. He secured the estate with the help of a corporate executive who worked for Biden’s top campaign donor, credit card giant MBNA.

Did they serve truffles at this dinner?
    His hair looks hungry….

  • LibertyLover

Biden roots for truffles on his own. The man is a pig through and through.

I LOVE when Michelle gets to looking at something close. You gotta know she'll find you out. Bidden is a disgusting example of corruption in Government used against us around the globe. He is a laughing stock.
I only wish this could have come out on one of those Lefty shows on Sunday mornings as a surprise with Bidden sitting there with that dumb look on his face while Michelle nails him. LOL

  • PhillipGaley

In their own neighborhoods, community organizations, businesses, and Churches, the corruption which the Am people provide as a social, political and religious environment cannot fail to draw like-minded prevaricators, to populate it. Hey, Joe, . . .

  • Amused

Oh listen to the whinings of Malkin and her muses .!! Trying to denigrate a Democrat , with no other purpose but character assasination . Biden paid his dues and is much much less the millionaire than what Conservatives have put up as Candidates . Michele , you're an attack dog off it's leash .LL..and after all those years in office BIDEN IS NO DIFFERENT , NO BETTER OR WORSE , THAN ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN OR CONSERVATIVE POLITICIAN >
Michelle you attack Biden because he's a democrat , no other reason although you attempt to cast aspersions of Character . Trouble is , Americans have accepted Joe as he is , he's not perfect , but then again neither are the three LIARS presently fighting for the Republicasn Nomination . And given a hypothetical situation where I would have to choose between Biden and those three, as to who would have my back …it would be Biden hands down every time .

    • xios

Oh please- Biden's been known as the "Buffoon of the Senate" for so long in DC that his gaffes aren't much noted until they get egregious. Note also that Beau Biden is responsible for getting Larry Sinclair safely behind bars. If you wanna read something funny, read Larry's "Open Letter to Michelle" sometime…

      AMUSED :

You can harp all you want about JOE BIDDEN but ..
IS ANYTHING MICHELLE EXPOSED NOT TRUE ???
I don't believe Michelle attacks anybody because of being a DEMOCRAP becauae, as far as I know,
she always pays even the devil its dues…..

      • Amused

drink some more cool-aid jacob . Malkin attacks ANYTHING that's connected to Obama , and likely inanimate objects too . She's a wind-up puppet of the right , a whining screaching siren that oft has no idea what she's talking about . I'll take Biden ANYTIME over any of the numbnuts Repocons put up .

    • Sage on the Stage

On an income of $215,000 in 2008, your man Biden gave exactly $195 cash, and a piece of furniture, worth $400, to charity. That works out to 3/10 of one percent of his income. And Liberals are supposed to be soooo generous….and that's not to mention all of the kickbacks he's received in connection with Amtrak, Biden's pet project, for which he has done nothing, absolutely nothing, to make into an efficient operation. Yes, Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich may lie occasionally, but at least they know how to balance a budget, and run a business. In a hypo where I would have to choose between any of the Republican three, I would choose:
1-Newt Gingrich, 2-Mitt Romney, and 3-Rick Santorum, in a heartbeat over anyone else. Biden? I'd throw his ballot in the garbage, where it belongs.

Vice Pres. PLUGS Biden, Obama's Cha-Cha-Cha-Chia, comic relief,

…………..may not bring enough to the Democrat ticket in 2012 to help Mr. Obama avoid defeat.

    ………. " Stand up for Obama's crippled economy,…..Chuck!"

  • Amused

Crippled economy ? That;s why "social conservative " is the Repo-Con "Soup de jour " , the economy's recovering , so all republicans got is making issues about birth control. That sells well amongst the Repocons themselves , it supports their delusion .

  • LibertyMan

Besides a noted plagiarist… Biden kept AMTRAK alive so that his political coffers and friends could syphon off our tax money. This includes using his influence to pay back AMTRAK appointee Michael Dukakis into running AMTRAK and blocking investigations into AMTRAK. Joe Biden should be wearing a orange jump suit at a Federal Pen just as Obama and the Fannie Mae bough legislators should be.

The best thing one can say about Joe Biden is that he is a thief or a untried felon.

  • mah29001

If Joe Biden and Obama were for the Middle Class, why the hell are they serving meals that only the One Percent could afford?

  • Amused

I though there was no "One Percent " . You mean OWS is right ?

  • Sage on the Stage

Whining is a good thing, if it exposes fraud and corruption; and Biden is as corrupt as they come. In 2008,
on an income of $215,000, Biden gave exactly $195 cash, and a piece of furniture, worth $400, to charity. That's about .3% of his income to charity. And Liberals are supposed to be soooo generous.

    • LibertyMan

They are generous …. with other people’s money

Who could the Democrats put in for Vice President that would not overshadow the One who is still
and empty suit not counting all the cash in his pockets. No one I can think of, possibly my pet hamster
would volunteer but Napoleon thinks Obama is a Cruise ship Capt., I leave it at that as he would not
