Afghanistan Burning

At least a dozen people have been killed in riots that have broken out in Afghanistan over the inadvertent burning of several Korans by US soldiers at a prison complex outside of Kabul. Among the dead are two US soldiers, shot by an Afghan soldier at the US base near Kaja. President Barack Obama wrote a letter to President Karzai extending his “sincere apologies” for the incident, adding, “We will take the appropriate steps to avoid any recurrence, to include holding accountable those responsible.” For all its obsequious efforts, analysts agree that profuse apologies issued from every level of the Obama administration have done nothing to temper the outbreak of violence in the country. Some believe apologies may even inflame the situation more.

Karzai and several members of parliament have called on NATO to put the soldiers on trial. Meanwhile, following the attack on the Americans by the uniformed Afghan soldier, the Taliban called on Afghan soldiers to fire on the “infidel invaders.”

Many analysts support the president’s response, but believe it will do little or no good. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the apology was “appropriate given the sensitivity” of the matter. But GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich disagreed, saying on a campaign swing through Washington state that “there seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama’s attention in a negative way and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States period.” He also said that it should be President Karzai doing the apologizing for the killing of US military personnel by a member of his armed forces.  He added that if Karzai doesn’t say he’s sorry for the murders, “then we should say goodbye and good luck, we don’t need to be here risking our lives and wasting our money on somebody who doesn’t care.”

If it were only Obama doing the apologizing, that would make sense. As Commander-in-Chief, the president is responsible for the safety of the troops and even though humbling the US in this way is not easy to accept, with 100,000 or more troops still in Afghanistan, each and every one of them would become a target for any Afghan with a gun unless the president made some effort to placate the people and government of Afghanistan. And guns are common in Afghan households.

But the rash of apologies issued by US officials — including a missive by American and NATO Commander General John Allen and a statement of regret by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta — “don’t seem to have any effect,” said Nina Shea of the conservative Hudson Institute. She said the additional apologies “just feeds the sense of grievance” of the protesters. Another analyst, Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, said that the serial apologies only help the Taliban. “They will use that to again flame their own fire,” he said. “The more they apologize, the more it’s going to inflame them.”

Shaffer also called the burning of the Korans “stupid.” Valuable intelligence may have been lost if there were indeed messages from extremists written in the texts.

Perhaps the incident was best summed up in the Lebanese English language Daily Star:

It’s one of those puzzling cases in which one doesn’t know which is worse: If the Americans knew what they were doing, it is a disaster, and if they were this careless and didn’t know what they were doing, it is also a disaster.

General Allen has promised that troops will receive additional training in the “proper handling of religious materials.” An investigation by the military is underway to determine why the Korans ended up in the burn bin in the first place.

Maybe Obama should have said that the order to burn the Koran came from Karzai. He could have put Karzai's head on a pike and everyone would be happy.

    • old white guy

most afgans are illiterate and would not know what the koran was unless a mullah held it up in front of them and told them. karzai's head on a pike, good idea.

From all we've been able to accomplish over there it seems as if they didn't want us over there interfering with their land and their war efforts in the first place. It is my feeling that our troops were not invited and therefore were in extreme danger in the first place and the deaths of the hundreds of our American troops are on the leaders who sent them in without an invitation. It seems we haven't accomplished any positive fete there and many families have lost their loved ones while we forced our attentions on those who've resented them and have taken their lives. The wars between these people have been ongoing since the beginning of time and will not end until they destroy one another. We don't know the enemy from so called friends and now it seems they are all suspect. I would suggest we bring our troops home and concentrate on keeping our borders guarded and the enemy from entering this country from those borders. We need to get our noses out of the business of these nations who do not want peace and want to kill off our people so they can be free to destroy each other. The only apology they will accept is for us to leave them without protection or we'll lose every one of our troops to their hostility! This is what happens when our leaders are not prayerful and leading this country's business with the hand of God to lead us! (See the scriptures for guidance!) When we allow athiests to run this country with an evil hand we are allowing ourselves to come under condemnation!

    • Grazel

“It is my feeling that our troops were not invited and therefore were in extreme danger in the first place and the deaths of the hundreds of our American troops are on the leaders who sent them in without an invitation. ” dmh

Really, come on man! Did the South invite the North to invade in the War between the States? Did Germany invite us into their country to save the Jews from extinction? War is not conducted by invitation. This is what we have forgotten. “It is well that war is so terrible, or we should get too fond of it.” – General Robert E. Lee We have turned war into a video game.

      • Indioviejo

Grazel, We didn't invade Germany to save the Jews but to destroy an enemy nation determined to conquer the world. We did not need an invitation to kill and destroy Afghanistan because they aided and abetted Al-Qaeda. Bush changed the mission, and our leaders from both parties are too treasonous to see the enemy for what it is.

The mistake was to burn this very toxic book "Quran" , a true poison tfor human mind. His smoke is what can be worse for our dear planette. Look to all these people empoisened by Quaran smoke, they became real mad.

The only way to combat Radical Islam is through IDEOLOGY.We should forcefully stick to our liberal ideology and democratic values and propagate them.Non-Arab Asia(ie Hindu India)'s pre-Arab great ancient tradition of Non-Arab Islam(ie Hindu Islam) is the most potent force to face this threat.Whole AfPak is Old Hindustan.Hindu Islam is the answer to Arab Islam. It is not Koranic, but Vedic. Its language is not Arabic, but Sanskrit.Whole non-Arab Asia, from Iran to Indonesia and Mongolia to Australia is the great ancient Hindu World including all "stans" of Central Asia and the Buddhist Far-East of China/Japan/Korea. This Hindu World is far bigger than the Arab World. The old indigenous religious tradition of Hinduism in the AfPak region need to be rediscovered and brought up again. This whole region was Hindu but due to medieval anti-IndianArab/Muslim Imperialism, got converted to Arab Islam and an artificial anti-Indian nation named Pakistan was born which has today become the home of international terrorism and global jihad.Total transformation of this whole region(AfPak) is necessary for safety and security of the world.Pak will have to become "Muslim India" which,it is,in all respects. It is an integral part and parcel of India. If Pak changes, the whole problem of terrorism could be solved.

    • digdigby

      Yeah, that's gonna happen!

  • aspacia

We need to return to the scorched earth policy in our wars. This nation building without unconditional surrender has never worked. Korea is still at war and the threats from the north are continuous. Israel is continually threatened by Muslims both internally and externally. We just left Nam because we the people discovered that the government lied. Now look at Iraq after the first Gulf War. What a joke, and to think we still allow the UN to direct us against our best interests.

    • Larry

We need to scorched earth the place as we leave, every piece of infrastructure, schools, hospitals, bridges, power stations, you name it, blow it on the way out. Leave the so concerned with just surviving that won't bother anybody for years. And let them know that if any more crap comes out of there, we'll start on the villages from the air – and keep it up until they are all living in caves because there isn't a building bigger than a goat shed in the entire place.

      • guest

the place is already in the 7th century – it wouldn't take too much work!

Placing messages in innocuous publications is a long standing practice in prisons. When such "Kitting" is discovered, whatever vehicle was used for the message conveyance, is destroyed; be it a love letter from your wife, a picture of dear ol' Mom, a Bible…. The Qur'an is no different and was USED by the Islamic Prisoners as a means of kitting their messages. They used it with nefarious intent; it is on them why they were burned. Seriously, has anyone asked why only select few were sent to the oven? I suggest we leave and brush the dust from our shoes and never look back. As far as all the other "Arab Spring" countries…not another PENNY! They want to live like they're in the 7th century – let em. Bring our sons and daughters home. Start drilling so we can have our own oil and are able to tell the entire Islamic world to pack sand!

  • WilliamJamesWard

The worst part of this incident is that two Americans were killed and that followed by Obama crawling around
on the ground of sniveling subservience to Islam calling for trials of the guilty party. If I remember correctly
American Army Officers burned hundreds, maybe thousands of Bibles sent to US troops as they were not
wanted in the heathen country. People burn American flags here also a great insult but does Obama call for
trials of the offenders, no the sickening leftist uses situations to gain favor where condemnation should
have been for the killing of Americans but the spineless (add profanity) crawls before our enemies.
    William

    • ObamaYoMoma

Muslims routinely burn bibles all the time. Just try to enter a draconian Islamic totalitarian hellhole masquerading as a state with a bible and find out what happens. The bible will be confiscated and burned.

Hell, every year throughout the Islamic world, hundreds of churches are burned down to the ground. As a matter of fact, look how many churches were burned downed to the ground in Nigeria and Egypt over the Christmas holidays recently. Yet, Obama is apologizing. Give me a break.

Again, pursuing silly fantasy based nation-building missions in Islamic countries founded on false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam to lift up Muslims is about as counterproductive as the US lifting up Hitler and the Nazis after WWII, since ALL MAINSTEAM ORTHODOX MUSLIMS are the enemies of all non-Muslim unbelievers in the world.

      • WilliamJamesWard

When you look at Koran burning, the Muslims burn down Mosques with the faithful inside holding
their Koran, Shia vs Suni and leave bodies all over the place. I hope that the majority will understand
just how absurd the position is that we should be on tip toe around the barbarians when all they
know and understand is force, bow down or die after being abused, the MSM loves the fantasy.
        William

  • ObamaYoMoma

Of course, the generals will once again ignore the obvious contradictions as they always do. They must not upset the apple cart if they like their prestigious military careers. Otherwise, they will be kicked out of the military, lose their careers, and be ostracized as an Islamophobe.

In any event, pursuing fantasy based nation-building missions in Islamic countries to lift up Muslims is about as counterproductive as lifting up Hitler and the Nazis after WWII, as all Muslims are the eternal mortal enemies of all non-Muslim unbelievers. The notion that Iraq and Afghanistan are going to be our allies as opposed to our eternal mortal enemies is utterly absurd.

By the way, whatever happened to that objective of establishing democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan? Whatever happened to Iraq becoming a shining beacon in the dark Middle East? Indeed, Iraq and Afghanistan today are in essence Sharia states, which is why we've had to rescue Afghanis convicted of blasphemy and apostasy and sentenced to death on several occasions.

Hence, why are we still over there propping up a Sharia state and pretending that we are doing some good. The American people already realize that the fantasy based nation-building missions in Iraq and Afghanistan have been the two biggest strategic blunders ever in America history. Why? Because they were both based on PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam. Let's cut our losses please and get the hell out of there ASAP.

Sure I will feel bad for the females, but I also feel bad for the females that live in North Korea as well. Sorry, but we can't rescue the whole world.

Let's drop the disastrous “War on Terror” strategy ASAP, as terrorism isn't even an Islamic manifestation to begin with since Muslims fight jihad instead, which is holy fighting in the cause of Allah against non-Muslim unbelievers to make Islam supreme and in which involves total warfare utilizing both violent and non-violent means. In place of the misguided “War on Terror” strategy, let's transition to a new saner strategy of containing the growth, spread, and expansion of Islam instead.

    • davarino

I agree O let em kill each other

      • ObamaYoMoma

It's mind boggling how completely ignorant of Islam after more than 10 years of war, trillions of dollars wasted, and thousands of patriotic troops either killed or maimed for nothing our federal government and military still are today. Of course, we can thank the Middle East Studies Departments at our elite colleges and universities that have been hijacked and co-opted by Saudi and Gulf State Emirate petro-dollars and delusional leftists. One would think that out of the 531 Congressmen and Senators that a few of them would attempt to address this issue and hold hearings. But amazingly the fear of being branded an Islamophobe outweighs patriotism.

In any event, any time there is Muslim on Muslim violence, we should never intervene except to ensure the jihad last as long as possible, and the last thing we should ever do is lift up our enemies as that is utterly insane.

  • tagalog

Since we're now taking fire from all sides in Afghanistan, why don't we insure that there will be no more phony indignation over U.S. "mistreatment" of the bloody Quar'an by getting out of there entirely? Let 'em stew in their OWN juices.

  • crackerjack

20 years ago the US was arming and financing the Afghan Jihad "Freedom Fighters" against the Soviets. Schools were burnd, women stones and and Soviet heads sported on stakes alongside the Afghan roads. As the good book states: "You reap what you sow".

    • tagalog

There is, of course, the pesky, nagging fact that the burning and killing were accomplished by Afghans and Soviets, not Americans, and that the killing and burning would have gone on with or without Americans providing weaponry (mostly Sparrowhawks) to the Afghans.

    • AM Crusader

Anyone notice that the worst violence in the mid/near east is always expected on Fridays? Now why is that? Could it be that is the day where these devout members of the "religion of peace" go to hear their clerics speak? So what sort of language is being said in those mosques to cause these individuals to exit with violence on their mind? Does not matter if it's in the Afghan, Syria, Egypt, Somalia etc.

  • BS77

As soon as the British, Russians, Americans leave Afghanistan, they resume their tribal wars and conflicts and return to killing each other as they have for centuries……Afghanistan, in the time of Alexander was a Buddhist shangri-la…..now look at it….it is like Mars, a burned out desert ravaged by centuries of hate, violence, misery, ignorance and sorrow. I feel so sorry for the women and children and elderly in that tragic land.

  • oldtimer

I just read that Karzai wants the UN to bring those responsible for the Quran burning to trial. And also, that Obama has blocked legislation that would hold Iran and Hizbullah accountable for the 1983 deaths of 241 Marines. Apologize? Never. Bring our troops home and stop all aid to Afganistan.

  • Stephen_Brady

Does it appear to anyone else that we could take everyone who has commented in this thread, up to this point, and do a better job with Afghanistan than the last two administrations? Just a thought …

    • Indioviejo

Yes Mr. Brady, and it scares me to think what our ruling elites have in mind for us. Will we be facing a civil war down the road?

      • Stephen_Brady

This worries me, too. I freely admit to being a fanatic, and will not be disarmed by the government, in violation of my Second Amendment rights. But having seen civil wars in several parts of this world, a civil war here would make THE Civil War look like a Sunday School picnic, by comparison.

It is to be avoided, if possible. But the attitude of some people that "no war is a good war" is not an option.

Each year Muslims kill 105,000 Christians in the world. Did any Muslim leader appologize for it? Did any Christians leader demand at least their appology? Where we are going? Nazis coparable to Muslims were innocent.
Obama bring each year 1MLN muslims immigrants to our country. He said in Cairo speach that US is the biggest muslim countries and he work on it. He must be impeached. Muslims in our country is fifth column.
We need Newt in WH or Santorum.
Non of penny to UN and non of penny to aid any Muslim country.
Did you notice that even the reachest Muslim countries don't give aid to any non-muslim country in any circumstances (Earthquake, etc)? More over they don't help even Muslim countries. 3% of all aid to so-called Palestinians is from Muslim countries and 90% from the westerns. It is absurd.
They used their money to penetrate and infiltrate to US and other Western countries, to inhance Islam, to influence youth in the Univercities and schools. Are we so stupid to allow them to do it?

    • Fred Dawes

each years muslims kill 0ne million muslims stay out of that area and just pay off the rats until the monkeys stop killing each other and stop the obama bush government from shipping a million muslims here each year.

Is anybody learning anything from this latest incident? Since GWB came out of the WH on 9/12/2001, hand in hand with an Imam and saying that Islam is a religion of peace, we started to loose our country. The fact that so many people in positions of power apologize for Islam is a bad action and anti-American. We need to get our troops out of there, change the rules of engagement, change our strategy and deal with ALL Muslims from strenght. The only reason they understand is raw power. Lets use it while we have it.

Obama seems to take his marching orders from foreign Muslims more so than his own countrymen.

Have our 100,000 Troops even killed anyone over there lately??? We only seem to hear about Drone strikes gone "bad".

We need to render the Country back to the condition it was in when we first went there-and leave.

The whole hearts and minds policy seems to have been put in reverse.

When we first went in-American Troops told the population how things were going to be. The bad guys were killed or ran for their life. Now we have 5 times the number in the field and all friendly like with all the bad guys being welcomed back home.

Fundimental change =changing sides. How else can one explain how 100,000 troops could ever get out with no support network on land while surrounded and invested by hostiles for 100's of miles in every direction. A monumental change in position and capabilities from when Bush left Office.

Back then Iran was surrounded. Today its out forces in Afcrapistan.

BURNING BIBLES IN IRAN: As Afghan Muslims are aroused to a frenzy for the inappropriate disposal of Korans by stupid but not bad intentioned American soldiers, let us not forget what the Islamic Republic has been doing intentionally and according to their cultural cleansing and religious cleansing policies all the time. Please review this 2010 event in Iran, further below…

Right now (February 2012) while the Islamic Republic is celebrating "Ali" Stone's conversion to Islam, they are executing ex Muslim, Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani for having converted to Christianity.

The Islamic Republic Burned Hundreds of Bibles in May-June 2010. Unfortunately these extremists know what kind of pain they inflict and that is exactly why they do it. They are in the business of humiliating and destroying people who have different beliefs. Destroying the 1500 year old Buddha Statues in Afghanistan, burning Flags of other countries and etc…. are done for the same reason.
    SOURCE:
    http://www.urbanchristiannews.com/ucn/2010/06/ira

TEXT: The report said that on Saturday, May 29, 2010, Ati News, a site belonging to Morteza Talaee, the previous head of the security forces and the current member of the Tehran's city council, "in its usual anti-Christian propaganda" reported that their social-life reporter had disclosed that shipments of so called, "Perverted Torah and Gospels" had entered Iran through its Western borders. Two days later, on Monday, May 31, 2010, the same report was reiterated by the official anti-crime website of the Pasdaran Army called "Gerdaub" which said that a large shipment of Jewish and Christian Scriptures had entered Iran through the Western Azerbaijan province and, according to security officials of that province, the "occupier forces" that operate in the Western regions of Iraq were responsible for such activities. FCCN stated that Gerdaub, the official website of the Pasdaran Army [also known as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG] continued its report by quoting the security official who had stated: "Some of these books are distributed locally, but most of the books are smuggled and distributed all over the country. In just the last few months, hundreds of such 'perverted Bibles' have been seized and burned in the border town of Sardasht."

We used to be a Christian nation. There was a right and wrong, yes meant yes and no meant no, when we went to war we intended on kiIIling our enemies and the idea of good vs. evil was not scoffed at.

We've been gutted by the Democrat machine and have no back bone because we no longer have a moral compass.

  • randy

Are these the same christians that murdered and enslaved the native americans as thier land was stolen?

    • SpiritOf1683

Off you go back to Pakistan, hate-filled parasitical barbarian.

    • Flowerknife_us

No they are not! Those Christians left the mortal world a long long time ago. The enslavement of Natives was a practice conducted south of the Contintental boundries of the current borders of the USA, Native Americans actually owned Slaves themselves. Old Hickory even let them take them along when he kicked them out of Georga.

Talk about steeling all you want but have you been to one of their Casinos?????

The Koran-burning incident is a sad commentary on the state of American Foreign policy. Not only there are no visible objectives for the US presence in Afghanistan, other than avoiding the perception of abysmal failure to pacify and impose twenty-first century on a notorious Asian backwater. I disagree strongly with Rick Moran on Obama's apology. By having the president apologize, the US de facto agrees with the nonsensical and barbaric upsizing of a regrettable but by all rational standards, a minor and victimless incident. It basically says to the Afghani fanatics – you are right, a terrible thing has happened and if you continue your defiance of us we will pack up and run back home with the tail between our legs. We are stupid infidels who don't know squat.

    • SpiritOf1683

American foreign policy has been in a sad state for at least 45 years – ever since the Six Day War of 1967, when the US pressurized the Israelis into sparing their mortal enemies.

Newt seems like the only candidate willing to seriously speak out about the barbarism that is islam. Santorum has also, Newt just seems a little braver on this. Who ever is the next prez needs to make a proclamation to the world that the U.S. of A. no longer considers Islam a religion-but a totalitarian ideology incompatible with western civilized man, and our societies. If the ideology does not throw off its current leaders and go through a reformation…Islam will be EJECTED from the US entirely.
Yep, that ought to do it. The rest of the neville chamberlans of the enlightenment will follow.

The chriastian barbarians that stole north america from the natives should be kicked out.

Why should aid be given to the toilet bowl of Afghanistan? Us Brits who know anything about history know what Afghanistan and its people are like – they were a running sore throughout the 190 years of the British Raj spanning the years 1757 – 1947. We had war after war with Afghan tribesmen on the Northwest Frontier and in Afghanistan during those two centuries. Our leaders back then knew you couldn't trust the Afghans. They knew treachery and hatred of the infidel was – and still is- part of their genetic makeup. And moreover they knew why. Fast forward to the 21st Century and our 19th Century ancestors would be horrified by our naivety. They'd think we'd gone mad for uttering the 'hearts and minds' nonsense that we've had to put up throughout the 11 years since 9/11.

    • SpiritOf1683

They don't want Western style freedoms, and never have. They want Taliban rule – pure distillate of Islam, and nothing else. They are happy to suffer, because despite their barbarianism, heartlessness and backwardness, they think they're vastly superior tyo us. They don't deserve any aid we give them, and far from being grateful for what our troops do for them, they revel in it when our troops get killed. It is time to get out and leave scorched earth behind, for they deserve no less, and have deserved no less for long before the days of the Raj.

G.W should be put on trial for crimes against humanity

And you should be sent packing to Pakistan.

As the Russian's painfully learned from their ten year occupation of Afghanistan (1979-89)…. there is absolutely nothing worth dying for in that despotic, Third World toilet.

Here we are ten years out of pocket for over 1,000 US lives and billions in aid defrauded, stolen and wasted….for what?! As the Spanish philosopher George Santayana said, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

And the Soviets, when they and the Chinese armed the NVA and Viet Cong with millions of AK-47s, SAMs, and lots of other ordnance, didn't give a rat's patoot about the Vietnamese, either. What's your point in making that claim?

The Soviet aim in Afghanistan had, at most, incidental interest in Islam, shar'ia, or any other Muslim issue; their concern was with maintaining a government that was favorable toward the Soviet Union.

The USA got involved in Afghanistan for a perfectly cognizable reason, the most prominent reason in American political thinking at the time, since militant Islam was pretty nearly invisible on the radar screen: tit-for-tat for Vietnam, and poke Soviets in the nose on Krushchev's "wars of national liberation" front.

The Islamic revolution of 1979 was in Iran, as I recall.

  • AM Crusader

So what did you expect from the United States upon conclusion of the Soviet/Afghan war? Money, frankincense, myrrh? We provided the $, the arms so the Afghan people could reunify their nation. It was up to THEM to provide a stable society, education etc afterward .

  • Sage on the Stage

And now the Russians are supporting the Iranian regime; warning Israel not to strike Iran; and warning
America to stay away from the Strait of Hormuz. You say that America "had no interest whatsoever in
the welfare of the Afghan population." Do you think the Russians care?

  • ObamaYoMoma

We all know that the US, when arming the Mudjihadeen, had no interest whatsoever in the welfare of the Afghan population

This begs the question. Since the US aided and assisted the mujahideen in their defensive jihad against the Soviets, why should the US be interested in the welfare of the Afghan population, and why should the Afghan population not be eternally grateful to the US for that valuable assistance and aid?

The nagging fact is that Soviets stated aim in invading Afghanistan was to counter the Islamic "revolution" of 1979,

Wrong country…try again. In addition, please point to all the countries in the world the Soviets invaded and turned into Soviet satellites that weren't communist totalitarian hellholes? I mean look at the Eastern Block of former satellites states in Eastern Europe, even more than 2 decades after the Soviet Union collapsed, those now free countries are still decades behind Western European countries that fortunately never fell under the Soviet Union's thumb.

that was pushing for a return to Scharia rule,

Sharia rule is just another form of totalitarianism, just like communism is also a form of totalitarianism. Indeed, it really doesn't matter which form of totalitarianism it is, as the outcome in time is always the same: abject poverty and tons and tons of misery.

and that without US support for the Mudjihadinn through Pakistan, Afghanistan may have been spared decades of civil war and there would never have been Al quaida, Taliban nor 9:11

Give me a break, the US and the West should be looking for cracks and fissures within Islam to help facilitate and foment jihads, because Muslim on Muslim violence is good for the Dar al Harb (us) and bad for the Dar al Islam (them).

Indeed, the last thing GWB should have done was jump into the middle of that jihad between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban, which were both Sharia compliant and both our eternal mortal enemies, by the way, in order to pursue a silly fantasy based nation-building mission based on false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam, since lifting up Muslims is about as counterproductive as lifting up Hitler and the Nazis after WWII. As ALL MAINSTREAM ORTHODOX MULSIMS are the eternal mortal enemies of all non-Muslim unbelievers. Indeed, what GWB should have done instead was apply the same logic as Reagan did with respect to the Iraq – Iran War in the '80s, that is try to make it last as long as possible.

Thus, the last thing the US should endeavor to ever do is to seek to spare the Muslims in Afghanistan or anywhere else for that matter, who are all our eternal mortal enemies and the eternal mortal enemies of every non-Muslim unbeliever in the world, decades of civil war. Are you out of your unhinged mind?

With respect to there would never have been AQ, the Taliban, and 9/11, how mentally incompetent can you be? Islamic civilization has been fighting jihad in the cause of Allah against non-Muslim unbelievers to make Islam supreme perpetually for almost 1400 years per the dictates of the sixth and most important pillar of Islam.

The only reason that 9/11 was even possible is because the US federal government like morons allows mass Muslim immigration with all of its excess baggage to occur totally uncontested and unopposed. As mass Muslim immigration to the West in reality is covert non-violent jihad for the purpose of infiltration and stealth demographic conquest.

Thus, if the US federal government wasn't totally blinded by leftwing PC multiculturalism the same way you are, and had not allowed mass Muslim immigration with all of its excess baggage to occur, to begin with, the 9/11 violent jihad attacks would have been totally impossible.

Indeed, when you play with fire long enough, it is inevitable that you will eventually get burned and that is exactly what happened on 9/11/2001. Yet, remarkably the US failed to learned its lesson, just like it has repeatedly failed to learn its lessons in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In fact, the primary reason that the US national debt is spiraling out of control and the main reason we are on the fast track to becoming the next Greece today is because of all the stupid and needless massive expansion in the size, scope, and power of the federal government that GWB enacted like an unhinged Dhimmicrat on steroids in order to continue accommodating mass Muslim immigration with all of its excess baggage that is really covert non-violent jihad for the purpose of infiltration and stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme.

    –continued below

  • ObamaYoMoma

Had GWB not proclaimed Islam to be a Religion of Peace™ being hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists like an ignorant fool, even before the bodies of the American victims of 9/11 had been buried, and immediately banned and reversed mass Muslim immigration with all of its excess baggage instead of massively expanding the size, scope, and power of the federal government, our national debt wouldn't be spiraling out of control like it is today, and the homeland would be exponentially far safer today as well, since zero Muslim covert jihadists living in America as a fifth column would equal zero probability of violent jihad attacks and at the same time the much greater threat of stealth demographic conquest would have been alleviated altogether as well.

Apparently, you are even more mentally incompetent than even I had first realized.

  • AM Crusader

One point I forgot to mention Crackerjack regarding what America could have done post-hostilities. If we went in, hands-on working with a new Afghan governement, don't you think there would be those foreign-policy armchair quarterbacks out there declaring that the Afghan prez is an American stooge,er, puppet if you will. Either way, America always comes out looking like the bad guy and I am quite sick of it.

  • crackerjack

The war was never "concluded", the nation never "reunified". The US funded Pakistani bases, from where the Islamists operated against the Soviets then sent ther Taliban squads to secure power in the name of their stated goal – not stable society or education but Scharia rule. The US created the monster it now fights.

What should one expect from the US? To keep out of other nations affairs, especially when they obviously don't know what they are doing.

  • crackerjack

The US aim in Afghanistan had, at most, incidental interest in Islam, shar'ia, or any other Muslim issue; their concern was with maintaining a government that was favorable toward the US.

Iran is Shiite, the mortal enemy of Sunni Afghans and their Saudi puppetmasters. As you may recall – Iran initially supported the West's intervention against the Afghan Taliban. Sunni Al Quaida and Taliban regard the Persian Shiite Ayatollahs and their "revolution" much the same as Christendoms inquisition viewed Protestantism.
