Domestic Jihad Victims Deserve Purple Heart

Robert Spencer is the director of Jihad Watch and author of the New York Times bestsellers The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) and The Truth About Muhammad. His latest book, Arab Winter Comes to America: The Truth About the War We're In, is now available.

Editor’s note: Sign the Freedom Center’s petition, Purple Hearts for Fort Hood Heroes.

The Purple Heart, a United States military honor awarded for military merit, is specifically to be given, according to U.S. Army regulations, for “wounds received as a result of hostile action,” including fatal wounds. It can be awarded in peacetime “to military personnel wounded by terrorists or while members of a peacekeeping force.” Yet the twelve U.S. military personnel (plus one civilian) murdered by Islamic jihadist Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan at Fort Hood in Texas on November 5, 2009 have not been awarded the Purple Heart, and neither has Army Private William Long, who was murdered by Islamic jihadist Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 1, 2009.

The reason for this is obvious: the Obama administration has not recognized either the Fort Hood or the Little Rock jihad attack as an act of terrorism. Thus the military personnel killed at Fort Hood and Private Long were not “wounded by terrorists”; hence no Purple Heart. Thus they become casualties not only of the global and domestic jihad, but of the politically correct refusal of official Washington to call that jihad what it is, and to recognize its full dimensions.

Of the facts of each case there is no question. Obama has ignored the Little Rock shooting, and, in one of the most egregious whitewashings of jihad in a field thick with competition, termed the Fort Hood shooting “workplace violence.” Any objective examination of either, however, leaves no doubt that Nidal Malik Hasan and Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad were Islamic terrorists performing a terrorist action in the name of Islam, and thus their victims were precisely “military personnel wounded by terrorists.”

In April 2011, Muhammad, an American convert to Islam, explained that he had killed Long in a “jihad operation.” He was not a soldier fighting against Americans on a battlefield, or even apparently an al-Qaeda operative acting on behalf of a recognized terror organization. He was a Muslim who was acting in accord with the teachings of his religion as he understood them – that is, as giving him a responsibility before Allah to wage war against and subjugate unbelievers. He was acting in imitation of his prophet, who said: “I have been made victorious through terror.” And in his terror operation, he killed Private Long.

Any people that declare war against the US, such as radical Islamists, are declaring themselves the enemy. If a soldier is killed by the enemy, the Purple Heart is warranted. Period.

    • ObamaYoMoma

      such as radical Islamists,

I know that this may seem like it is nitpicking, but the existence of radical Muslims, Islamist Muslims, extremist Muslims, and moderate Muslims, exactly like the existence of radical Islam, extremist Islam, peaceful Islam, and moderate Islam are all false PC multicultural myths. There is only mainstream orthodox Muslims and mainstream orthodox Islam, anything else is a political correct myth.

Words matter today, especially since so many words muddy up the waters thanks to PC multiculturalism and make the manifestation of Islam almost impossible to understand. Nevertheless, I do agree with the gist of your post.

Don't be under the impression that "radical" Islam has declared war against us!!1 No, no, no!! It's Islam and Muslims who have declared war against humanity from day one. Anybody who is not willing to submit to their cruel dictator Mo/allah is their enemy and has to be eliminated. And that is what Muslims have been doing for last 1400 years. The problem is we human beings give them the benefit of doubt and let them enter our lands and sooner or later Muslims start doing what they have been trained to do – rape and kill, it's ingrained in their genes!!

There is no doubt in my mind that all those who died at Fort Hood and other places deserve "Purple Heart"!! It's our politicians and administration are the problem as they are not willing to admit and tell the truth about Islam and Muslims and now the army has also fallen victim to this nonsense. Hell will freeze over but our powers that be won't ever grant this medal to the heroes of Muslim deceit and aggression at Fort Hood. It doesn't fit administration's narrative!!

    • Vermont Yid

I take issue with your use of the words "radical Islamists." These animals are NOT radical Islamists. Rather, they are DEVOUT MUSLIMS who are doing just as the quran says they should. That's it pure and simple. Calling them radical islamists or radical muslims is just bullzhit!

  • steven L

The SD is full or orientalists. This explains that.

  • Brujo Blanco

PC and its supporters are responsible for these murders at Ft Hood. If this killer’s looney actions were a knowledged as they occurred he would have been put out of the military due to mental instability. It was estblished that he has a propensity to engage in terrorist acts and that in fact killed based on this. He had terrorist contacts. The PC whackos fail to identify terrorists as Muslims when that is what they are. Identifying Muslim terrorists as such is not a racial or ethnic slur. It is a description.

    • mrbean

Like Ann Coulter once said at Harvard, "when 99%+ of the terrorist acts are committed by Middle Eastern men it is called a description of the suspects."

  • modernminuteman

every real american knows this was a terrorist attack and this shows the arrogance of our marxist radical islamist imposter of a president barack husein obama!

  • mrbean

Nidal Malik Hasan and Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad should have both been executed by now. They have not even been tried, That is because we have chimpouts – one in the oval office and one running the DoJ – and a post menopausal unkempt charmwoman running the State Department.

  • rubiconcrest

I would like to support the 'defense fund' but have an international address. Is there any way this can be corrected? Thank you.

  • Chiggles

Do not forget the wounded. They are as eligible for the PH as those who were killed.

It's wrong to conflate what is jihad with terrorism, per the dictates of PC multiculturalism, because that practice enables the covert non-violent varieties of jihad, such as mass Muslim immigration to the West for the purpose of stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme, to manifest throughout the West completely uncontested and unopposed.

Jihad is holy fighting in the cause of Allah against non-Muslim unbelievers to make Islam supreme and involves both violent jihad, such as the 9/11 violent jihad attacks, and covert non-violent jihad, such as mass Muslim immigration to the West for the purpose of stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme or CAIR's proliferation of misinformation to dupe gullible useful idiots. While terrorism, on the other hand, is not only not an Islamic manifestation, but it also can be for any number of motivations other than in the cause of Allah.

Hence, if a violent attack is perpetrated in the cause of Allah by Muslims, then it is a violent jihad attack. While if a violent attack is perpetrated for any other cause other than Allah and is perpetrated by non-Muslims, then it is terrorist attack.

However, when we conflate jihad, which is both violent and non-violent, with terrorism, which is only violent, the covert non-violent varieties of jihad, such as mass Muslim immigration to the West for the purpose of stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme, inadvertently get overlooked and as a result manifests totally below the radar completely uncontested and unopposed.

With respect to everything else Mr. Spencer says in the article, I fully concur with. Indeed, the chronic institutional blindness that befalls our news media, political elites on both sides of the political aisle, and federal government is because they all get their information from the same location, that is from our elite colleges and universities.

However, the Middle East Studies Departments of all our colleges and universities have been hijacked, co-opted, and usurped by the Islamic world and the Left via Saudi petro-dollars since in the '70s, and as long as that monopoly on information remains unexposed and unbroken, don't expect things to change anytime in the near future, even if the Republicans win in November.

Look, you dim witted lout, your pathetic drivel is interesting and impressive only to minds as criminally weak as your own, and added to this mental deficiency must be a level of ignorance of both islamic and non-islamic military history. In a few words, only a moron like you could possibly buy into your ignorance based swill. Your sickening habit of repeating the same drivel, word for word, not just in various posts, but even in the same one, demonstrates that you are obsessive, rather than informed and capable of drawing a valid conclusion.

Terrorism in the heart of islam…. against non-muslims, against women, against children, against the wrong sect of muslims….. Far from being an informed and clear thinker, you are a deformed and non-thinker. You are pathetic.

“Hence, if a violent attack is perpetrated in the cause of Allah by Muslims, then it is a violent jihad attack. While if a violent attack is perpetrated for any other cause other than Allah and is perpetrated by non-Muslims, then it is terrorist attack.”

Seriously, I doubt if any other mind on the planet, could come up with such a pathetic non-analysis. When a violent attack is committed by muslims against jewish children, christians, animists, and the violence is committed against civilians only, they are terrified, and it is terrorism. Sadly, your mind is so small, and your ego so large, that it cannot see the real world. And even if it did, your mind is so weak it wouldn’t understand what it was seeing.

“However, when we conflate jihad, which is both violent and non-violent, with terrorism, which is only violent, the covert non-violent varieties of jihad, such as mass Muslim immigration to the West for the purpose of stealth demographic conquest to make Islam supreme, inadvertently get overlooked and as a result manifests totally below the radar completely uncontested and unopposed. ”

The flaw in that load of rubbish? Well, the obvious one is that the stealth jihad is not overlooked, and is not below the radar, is not completely uncontested and is not unopposed. In fact, the author of this article is one of the many who, unlike yourself, actually study the issue, and are opposing islam in its many forms…… How you can be that ignorant, is not a mystery: you obviously try very hard to remain so.

And I am sure that he is flattered and humbled by your concurring with the rest of his article. NOT.

Gong though some of the military history books in my own library, I would suggest that the brutality and terror that the west has sadly employed at various and too many times, was learned from contact with and conflict with the muslim world.

In other words, you pathetic lout, terrorism is NOT a western construct, as you so often demonstrate your ignorance by asserting: It is the heart of islam.

      • ObamaYoMoma

Terrorism in the heart of islam…. against non-muslims, against women, against children, against the wrong sect of muslims….. Far from being an informed and clear thinker, you are a deformed and non-thinker. You are pathetic.

So according to you, we should just concentrate strictly on preventing what you stupidly call terrorism and ignore the fact that mass Muslim immigration to the West is in reality covert non-violent jihad for the purpose of stealth demographic conquest?

The Middle East Studies Depts.are a prime example of our Universities and Colleges selling their souls for the Wahabi Muslim dollar. Whoever pays the bill gets to dictate and supervise the curriculum. If these money hungry elites ever get wise to their sell out and try to change their pro Islamist policies, those now dictating the rules will turn on them with a vengence usually directed at apostates.

  • mrbean

This is rather interesting as one must be wounded by an enemy while in combat in a war or on an authorized military action. Since military action in the so called war on terror was formally authorized by Congress (that there was no declaration is not an issue) and against terrorism the entire world is the battle field then it should not be a problem for a Purple Heart if a terrorist inflicts a wound or kulls a soldier, sailor, or airman while on active duty – in my opinion.

  • burkasrugly

I absolutely believe they should receive Purple Hearts. Carlos Bledsoe's father, Melvin, spoke at our ACT! for America chapter a few months ago. He said that he tried to warn the authorities to no avail. Why do people have this insane need for political correctness? It spreads like the plague. Just see how they treated General Boynkin at West Point. http://actjonesboroar.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/un

YOUTUBE ALERT: Why did Obama bow to the Saudi king? Because the Saudis paid for Obama's entrance into, and passing through, Harvard Law School. That's right–they gave Harvard a gift of $20 million, for the anointed one's admission. A few of the answers to Obama's past can be found on a YOUTUBE video, "Obama's Hidden Past." This video is exactly 12 minutes long, and gives info discovered by someone who was hired by Donald Trump, to investigate our President; and it will BLOW YOUR MIND.
Why does B.O. have a Connecticut SSN? He was living in NYC at the time, but went to Conn. to file a tax return; which he did, under a false name, using a P.O. box in Conn. as his address. Why did he go to Conn. to file a return, instead of filing one in NYC? See this video to find out.

  • FriendofGaryCooper

Yes, of course, these brave souls above should each and every one, get the Purple Heart.

  • Stephen_Brady

Tthe Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving under competent authority in ANY capacity with one of the U.S. Armed Services after April 5, 1917, has been wounded or killed. It is no longer give to civilians killed in action (they receive the Defense of Freedom Award).

The members of the military killed by Major Hassan … even though they were stationed in the United States … deserve the Purple Heart, and it is an abomination that they have not received this award.

This is the clearest example of political correctness I have ever witnessed …

  • Ageofreason

I find it appalling that a president and his syncophants have such power that they can force the military to ignore its own rules for the awarding of these medals. Surely the office of president does not confer such unrestricted power. Is it a case of "If you don't do what I want, then you can kiss any advancement goodbye"? How sad that the paper-pushers lack the guts to proceed with the awarding of the medals. There is one good thing that directly results from the installation of Obama as president: the weaknesses of the Republic have become very, very obvious. The entire ship of state can be changed course by one man, regardless of oaths of office by those "under" him, regardless of the stated loyalty to the Republic of those in government. L'etat, cest moi? Apparently so. Or am I missing something?

  • WilliamJamesWard

This entire misunderstanding will be cleared up as soon as the Obama administration
releases the information that exonerates Maj. Hassan of murder, ie; just what those
kaffir provocateurs did to upset the justified Major in his forceful actions. It is a
small matter for Obama to clear it up, Maj. Hassan will be receiving the Medal of
Freedom from Obama soon enough and probably a promotion with transfer to
    Obama's personal staff…………………………………………………..William

  • OldmanRick

Yes, at the very least each individual killed or wounded deserves the Purple Heart.

  • http://www.fx-exchange.com/ Bowmanave

Sounds reasonable. As I said in my post to SJSAMPLE, the people who put their lives on the line in our military are the ones that should make this decision. I have not earned the right to weigh in.
