Control Hollywood, Not Guns!

Instead of gun control, why not Hollywood control?
Gun triggers are touched by fingers. But Hollywood, guided more by profits than OT prophets, poisons the minds that pull the triggers.
Hollywood likes hiding behind the First Amendment more than abiding by the Ten Commandments, one of which says "Thou shalt not kill."
Even more insidiously, some of the most powerful Hollywood moguls quietly embrace the most unspeakably evil forms of child abuse. Google or Yahoo "The Talmud" which says that Jewish adults are allowed to have sex with children as young as three years old!
Also Google or Yahoo "Pedophilia: The Talmud's Dirty Secret." (There are those who even want to normalize and legalize pedophilia!)
Why do some of us focus only on "mopping up" the aftereffects of Hollywood's overflowing sex-and-violence "faucet" instead of trying to shut it off? Let's control the big "guns" of Hollywood - and NOT guns!

Hi Stellar,
I really did attend Wheaton College in the late 1960's. It was the best academic experience I possibly could have had. Transferred to a state university for my senior year and there was no comparison. It was like going to school in an airport or train station. Professors could have cared less about their undergrads.
I did not attend the conference at the Billy Graham Center. Might have been interesting. I will say that I'm a little disturbed at the latest trend in the Evangelical Church to take a "more balanced" approach to the Middle East. This implies more sensitivity to Arab views and a search for common ground with Muslims of all levels of commitment. The thought is that if Evangelicals were a just a little less pro Israel and more willing to recognize value in Islam that missions would be more productive in Islamic countries and that Christians would be less likely to be persecuted. Nice thought, but kind of out of touch with Reality.
I spent over two months in the Middle East in a summer studies program while at Wheaton. I eventually realized, Islam does not compromise. It will not rest until Israel is replaced with an Islamic state. And it is intent on spreading the Islamic system to the entire world. Failure to understand that is a fatal mistake. History teaches time and again that appeasement only leads to disaster. This is not the time to be blaming our theology or ourselves for the vicious persecution of Christians throughout the Muslim world. It's the time to speak up for them and place the blame where it belongs.

Don't justify bad deeds by comparing yourself to others

There's a psychological trap which pretty much everyone is in danger of falling into at some time or another. It's a mind-trick we use on ourselves to justify deeds we're not proud of. We simply compare ourselves to others who've done something worse.

I've done this many times myself to justify in my mind acts that I know were wrong, and I'm sure if you're honest, you can think of examples too.

It works like this: You admit to yourself and others that you've committed an error, but belittle it by comparing it to greater errors committed by others. For example, an alcoholic who drinks a bottle of whisky every day says to himself: "Well, at least I don't drink two bottles a day like Henry next door."

The wonderful thing about this trick is that it can be used to justify virtually any act, no matter how immoral. No matter what you've done, you never have to look far to find someone who's done something worse.

Have you become lazy lately? Well, at least you're not as bad as that slothful uncle of yours.

Are you violent? It's nothing compared to those families living down on the housing estate.

Do you take drugs? At least you're not one of those junkies sleeping in bus shelters.

Using this method, you never have to face up to doing anything wrong. It's extremely comforting. The only problem is, you still have to eventually face up to the consequences of your actions.

Lazy people still end up with fewer rewards, regardless of their uncles. Violent people still get arrested, no matter how nasty those on the housing estate are. Drug users still wreck their health, even if someone else wrecks theirs worse.

This mental trick is the equivalent of sweeping dust under the carpet. The dust is still there, even if it's hidden from view.

Some of the most dishonest users of this trick are politicians. They can justify almost any evil act simply by comparing their choices to those of their peers in other nations. They use it to legitimize war, torture and all sorts of other wrongs. All they have to say is "Well, what I'm planning is nothing compared to what politician X in country Y gets up to".

Morality and good deeds aren't measured by comparing yourself to others. It's something that comes from within. Most people know when they're committing bad deeds, and are perfectly aware of the consequences. Trying to hide behind someone else's badness is often as immoral as the original act itself.

There is no apartheid in Israel, but there is apartheid in Sudan and other Islamist states. Sudan has a racist, sexist Islamist dictatorship that behaves worse than South Africa's former apartheid regime. Arabs living in Israel have more rights and liberties as Israeli citizens than people living in other countries in the Middle East. It is true that Israel's parliament has one chamber, but it still is a representative democracy. While it is also true that Britain's House of Lords are not elected, the House of Commons is still elected. Before the 17th Amendment was passed in the U.S., Senators were appointed by the state legislatures. Quit supporting leftist/Islamist propaganda.

You are whitewashing what the nature of those countries are. You do not have a good understanding of what you are talking about. I said military service was necessary for FULL citizenship. The State of Israel has a parliament. THERE ARE NOT TRIALS BY JURY IN THE STATE OF ISRAEL.(you had better look that one up!) The monarchy in Britain is just a figurehead? Then explain the Upper House of Parliament which is comprised entirely of titled persons whose titles pass on as an inheritance. The State of Israel doesn't even have two houses of it's parliament, hence the term 'unicameral'. The U.S. has a bicameral legislature comprised entirely of voter-elected representatives. The State of Israel uses the Party-list proportional representation system, where people vote for the party they want, and the party appoints people before or after the fact.

I said "WITHOUT comparing them to some stupid Islam country that EVERYBODY already knows doesn't have CLUE about democracy??? " Is suppose I should have included in that 'all countries that NO ONE has difficulty telling that they don't have a clue about democracy, but it didn't matter because you still went off and mentioned Islamist countries as if anybody is going to think they have good examples of democratic states.

I don't want "to see really oppressive "Republics" that abuse power" and I don't care about "countries that support Islamism" that are "repressive and totalitarian". Why does "blame Russia" for Syria come up, that falls under the 'no clue about democracy' default status. Why don't I criticize 'true repressive regimes" instead of the "democratic West"? First, the State of Israel is not part of the democratic West, it is an Afro-Asiatic Socialist hub with Jewish Nationalist policies who have an apartheid system enacted to the detriment of the non-Jewish population inside and outside it's borders. Why does this matter to me? Because they have one of the most non-proportionately powerful, representative speaking, political lobby that is entirely foreign to the U.S. in nature, advocating in the U.S. entirely for a foreign country. This non-proportional powerful lobby has also confused a Biblical illiterate populace, that is unaware of the historic position of their own churches regarding Jews, Israel, the sufficiency and supremacy of Christ for all, the Temple sacrifices which are obsolete, the abolishing of the Levitical priesthood, the ascension of Christ to the position of High Priest for all eternity, as the Aaronic priesthood is disappeared never to return. All these things are being ignored by Jews that are today working to build a third Temple where the Dome of the Rock now stands. They plan to start up Temple sacrifices, reinstate the Levitical priesthood, dream up an Aaronic High Priest from thin air, find the Ark of the Covenant(the covenant which is broken), secure a pure Red Heifer(which they don't have the ashes from the last one to make the new one pure), craft new priestly vestments(without the old ones which had special irreplaceable stones on them), and many other things which can not, will not, and in the light of what Christ has done, should not be done. They have the right to practice the religion they want, but it is when they lobby another country for support in doing these things that will only benefit themselves, that is what I take issue with.

Both Britain and Israel are representative democracies, Babbitt. Both countries have governments that are just like the United States. There is no "military service" necessary for Israeli citizenship. Israel is not like ancient Sparta at all. Israel is a representative democracy, while ancient Sparta was a military oligarchy. There are trials by jury in Israel. Britain has a constitutional monarchy. The monarchy is only a figurehead in the British government. Along with the constitutional monarch, the UK is a representative democracy. If you really want to see really oppressive "Republics" that abuse power, look at Cuba, which currently has the only dictatorship in the Western Hemisphere. In Cuba, the daily food rations for a citizen is smaller than the rations that the King of Spain mandated that Cuban slaves had on a daily basis in 1842 at a time when Cuba was a Spanish colony. All of the countries that support Islamism are repressive and totalitarian. Why don't you blame Russia for supporting the dictatorship in Syria? Did you know that Putin rigged the presidential election in Russia? Putin's United Russia Party is the modern-day Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Instead of criticizing the democratic West, criticize true repressive regimes, which are either from the far-left or radical Islamist.

I've just skimmed these posts and the are ridiculous. I'm a student at Wheaton and I was at this conference. The blog writer doesn't know what he's talking about. EMEU is all about learning about and supporting Arabic-speaking Christians in the Middle East. They didn't even talk about Israel. Geesh. This is all trash talk. But at least it would be nice if 5% of this blog post was accurate. I can't even say that.

Actually to even mention the so called persecution of Christians in Israel with the very real persecution in the Mohammedan world in the same breath is a form of deception. It's like equating a haircut to a decapitation in every sense.
You sound like the kind of guys who equated the USA to the Soviet Union.
In short you sound like a moral relativist of the worst kind. Maybe I'm wrong?

Britain still has a Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy with a lady at it's head that is referred to as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England(British Pope). The people in that country are NOT allowed to own any guns. They have cameras on every corner, and you will thrown in jail for saying mean things. The 'State of Israel' is a parliamentary republic with a unicameral legislature, mandatory military service to achieve full citizenship status, NO trial by jury, and their leaders call elections when ever they want. Please explain to me how those are prime examples of of democratic countries, WITHOUT comparing them to some stupid Islam country that EVERYBODY already knows doesn't have CLUE about democracy???

Christ Jesus first.
My family second.
My church third.
My state fourth.
America fifth, but before EVERY other country/nation.

Russia has military bases in other places too. Moscow has a base in Syria. That base is approved by the Russian-backed Assad regime. There is no American "imperialism", but there is Russian imperialism, Chinese imperialism, Cuban imperialism, Venezuelan imperialism, Iranian imperialism, "Palestinian" (invented people) imperialism, Communist imperialism and Islamist imperialism. Mr. Babbitt, you hate America because you repeat Stalinist/Maoist propaganda about America, the West and democracy. Bottom line: America, Britain, Israel and the rest of the free world stand for democracy, freedom, peace and stability, while the leftists/Islamists stand for imperialism, instability, aggression, oppression and totalitarianism.
