Barney wrote or helped write the laws they operated under, and he was on the committee that oversaw them for decades, so yea, it's his fault. Dodd was right there with him, along with a slew of other democrats, with their significant others and supporters in the mortgage industry helping run it into the ground. It was a leak from a democrat staffer that triggered it. They did the same thing to the SnL industry when I was young. There's hours and hours of them pontificating on video and in print over the decades, not a scrap.

As far as you're concerned, they got away with it, so of course you also can't see (or are in on), what's coming with the unaffordable care act.

Well if Barney Frank said that in 2003, then hey you're right, it was all his fault and the fault of Fannie and Freddie Mac...oh and the poor people....and NO ONE ELSE.

It only takes a scrap I guess. I would ask you to describe what we're even talking about if you think Barney Frank caused "it" but who cares...I know what you think.

Insurance companies underwrite risk, and it’s hilarious to see dp supporters pretend they have a problem with companies or other organizations that “produce nothing,” when that’s apparently your favorite kind. It’s also funny that you blame insurance companies for the inevitable failure of the “insane” Medicare/Medicaid government ponzi schemes and the federal deficit/debt. It wasn’t the insurance companies that blew every M/M dime that came in buying votes, instead of setting it aside to fund their liabilities. It’s not the insurance companies that haven’t passed a budget in 5 years, and ran $1+ trillion deficits that whole time either. Good luck finding anyone or anything that tops politicians and the federal government in the greed department.

It was the federal government that abused their power to regulate interstate commerce as an excuse to mandate what would be covered on private insurance policies, though they forbade them to be sold interstate. It was the federal government that decided it wouldn’t pay market prices for medical procedures and services, leaving the private policy holders to pick up the balance.

How does one meaningfully discuss a law that nobody was allowed to read before it was “deemed to have passed?” That’s impossible. By definition, “single payer,” destroys private health care. Hillarycare, the dp’s first attempt at single payer, forbid doctors from taking cash for services. The dp made no secret their goal was single payer government run health care, Obama himself admitted it, and our buddy barney frank is on video telling his constituents if they wanted single payer, they should support unaffordable care act because it would bring it about. Maybe you missed it, but I didn’t.

If the dp cared about the poor, they’d give them the shirt off their own back, and not someone else’s. But they exempted themselves and their supposedly big hearted contributors, and paying customers are still picking up the tab. They didn’t care enough to let people write all their health care costs off their taxes, buy just the coverage they needed, or make insurers compete across state lines. They didn’t care enough to give up their trial lawyer donations, by reforming tort. It’s obvious they just want control over whatever health care people here have, and couldn’t care less about quality or availability. You’ve either been suckered, or you’re in on the scam.

I know government made those problems, the banks were operating under the government’s rules all along. You don’t remember barney frank saying in 2003, “I do think I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness that we have in OCC and OTS. …I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing?” You don’t remember him saying fannie and freddie weren’t facing any kind of financial crisis, there was no housing bubble? I do, and it’s all on video. In 2005, when President Bush warned of the problem and tried to head it off, barney admitted there was a bubble, but claimed, “you are not going to see a collapse.” That was before it became politically advantageous to trigger one, which a leak from a congressional staffer for a democrat did.

Barney crapped out with our money, and blamed Bush for it. Then he and dodd wrote a huge banking law that, like the unaffordable care act, was passed without being read, and though it gave the federal government much more control over banking, and , of course, added taxes, it failed to address the causes of the bubble and its’ collapse.

Yeah, but it's not like lawmakes sit around by themselves and come up with all these little complications. You think Obama was in there writing this law? Regulation has to be very specific and cover every possible circumstance because PEOPLE WILL CHEAT. Plus this lobbyist said hey put that in there...and yeah put that in there and then we can get votes for it. The republicans had specific things put in there during negotiation before they all voted against it.

Plus, you pretend that doctors would still be making housecalls and we would still have this quaint little healthcare system if government hadn't come in and mucked it up. It's like insurance companies don't exist...big pharma...not a player...big healthcare companies that run hospitals...nope they're just hardworking Americans. Government caused every problem...sigh...don't you get sick of the shallowness of this viewpoint?

There was a guy below like this...government was the sole and only problem. Are you guys incapable of even considering that a private company is totally f*cking you over? That private business interests are fleecing you daily? From the wars through the collapse, trillions of dollars have been sucked up from America so offshore accounts could grow larger. Can it even be considered?

The problem is a lot of you have a angry stick shoved up your ass...you're just totally confused as to who put it there.

I wish they would regulate the financial sector better....not worse...you think the government made those problems? You've been reading way to much of this shit then. The government...or "us" stumbles behind those greedy arseholes and cleans up the mess. The ACA wouldn't be necessary if insurance companies (who do nothing and produce nothing) weren't pushing the costs so high. What health insurance costs were going to do the budget and debt were insane...does anyone remember this? We only discussed this law for YEARS.

You guys blame the government for everything. and BTW the "often stated objective" of the democratic party is not to "destroy private health insurance" in fact that is never said, much less "often" stated. It's like no one cares at all about the poor, destitute and people dying without simple medicine and care...it's ALL a political power move for tyrannical ends.

That is just the square peg of reality meeting the round hole of the cult framework.

I am disgusted by the intellectual cowardice of those who really wanted single payer, but opted for what they thought they could get.
Can't defend it ? Then why should it become law ?
Also disgusted with the idiots who say Canadian system is 'free' when they spend 22 percent of taxes on healthcare. Of course, Canada has about the same population as California. Heck, there are more illegal aliens in the USA.

I heard someone on the radio saying that, frankly, the troubles with the website are a mirror of this overly complicated 2300 pages of ACA, coupled to a lot of complaining about the lack of "public option" .
Well - that is more interesting than just blaming incompetent website design. The specific complaint was having to calculate the SUBSIDY, and thus all personal questions, and verification, rather than getting to the fun part - how much will it cost me.

I would like to see a fight between Hillary-care and Obama-care types, maybe with some Europeans thrown in for good measure. Jeepers - i remember when doctors made house visits and a week in the hospital was not a big deal. Frankly - what really dooms all these efforts is Rising Expectations. We really want Star Trek but we get Hillary instead.

as a number of techies have pointed out - the whole damn thing is too complicated. The problem with the website is a reflection of problems with ACA. I blame the intellectual cowardice of those who support single payer but gave up trying to make the case to the public. Somebody forgot the first rule K.I.S.S = Keep It Simple, Stupid !!

Of course what would work was blocked by the democrat party, their often stated objective is to destroy private health care, and become the sole provider. They couldn't care less about the quality or availability of health care, just so long as they have absolute control over whatever health care their is. They use laws and regulations to distort and wreck the market, then use the mess they made as an excuse to take over. They did the same thing with banking and student loans. A lot of people have been suckered, but I'm not one of them. You?

Stop being a jerk. "Expansion will be paid for by the government." Where do you think the government gets the money---from their money tree? Medicare is expanding?
Yeah, you're right. We are all surrounded by takers. There is a big difference between charity (I give freely) and government handouts.
So poor people don't have to be polite?

Well yes...medicare and medicaid expansion.

It looks like Ohio is doing the expansion:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/10/21/ohios-new-medicaid-expansion-could-cover-330000-people/

Sorry your surrounded by takers...maybe you should consider a new line of work if helping people that I guess don't deserve it makes you sick. Since the expansion is paid for mostly by the federal government, it's a win for Ohio and all that money flows into private businesses.

It seems like most people that feel the way you do have some kind of anecdotal experience with takers and scammers. Like the guy I was talking to the other day who helped out in food kitchens for the poor (he claimed) and he thought the people were not polite and didn't seem thankful enough.

First of all, learn your terms. MediCARE is for the old. MediCAID is for the poor (and who knows what the word "poor" means anymore.)
I'm from Ohio, and in 2010 the people here voted AGAINST the implementation of Obamacare, 66% to 33%. And yes, we are currently fighting Medicaid expansion (we have a balanced budget, by the way).
I am tired of working my life away to support illegitimate children born to lazy, ill-bred, uneducated dolts.
I work in a hospital system. I see parents applying for disability for their kids with ADHD (which is NOT a disability). Unmarried couples come in with their four kids, all on medicaid. These people are pros at gaming the system, and Obamacare only encourages it.

Costa Rica is beautiful. He's already bought his home, which is located on the Pacific Coast. Fantastic view ...

And since many of the good Doc's patients will fly to Costa Rica to see him ... a combination of fine healthcare and a vacation ... it works, for him.

As for me, I'm in the Illinois Valley area.
