You're right. The EU is a devious body intent on total sovereignty over its member states. Does the Ukraine really want this ? Does it realize this ? Then we have such charmers as Barroso, Ashton and Biden intervening. Ukraine needs "allies" like those creeps ?

As for the new Russian news agency chief wanting homosexuals banned from donating blood and sperm, is the author saying this is is bad ? I wish we had someone as sane and outspoken as Kiselyov in the UK. Yes, keep up the political correctness, FPM. Way to fight the left !

"Late yesterday, police began moving against some of the demonstrators,
dismantling camps set up in front of government
buildings. Prosecutor-General Viktor Pshonka issued a warning, telling
the demonstrators to cease creating “anarchy and lawlessness”
by blocking the buildings. As of now, no action has been taken against
the crowds occupying Independence Square. How long it will stay that way
remains to be seen."

Where is Obama while this is going on? Making speeches to convince Americans that Obamacare is a blessing beyond imagining! Attending the funeral of a man who suffered to achieve freedom and dignity for black South Africans. I guess that Ukrainians do not have the right skin color for Obama to be worthy of support in their quest for the same freedom Mandela fought for. Or maybe he is simply intimidated by Vladimir Putin and does not want to cross him in any way because he needs Putin more than Putin needs him. Interesting how nothing is ever clear, simple and unadulterated with Obama. But one thing is clear: he is always on the wrong side of domestic and international issues. He would do better to flip a coin to arrive at a sensible and useful position on the myriad of issues confronting his regime.

Ukrainian people aren't after "seizing power," that's a government pretense to activate the SBU and troops to follow. Ukrainians don't want a repeat of the Soviet Union, which is Putin's dream in which he'll incorporate The Ukraine, bread-basket of Eastern Europe. The Ukrainian people want their own nation, free of Kremlin influence, and free to make its own decisions. Moscow has always intimidated Ukraine and bought its leaders. It's time for the Ukraine to go its own way and trade with whomsoever it wants. If Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania could go their own way, The Ukraine should be able to do the same. Moscow has wielded its heavy hand for too long.

I want to see the Ukraine and Russia as one country. When Russia was ruled from Kiev, they were one people.

Then the Mongols came. The people have diverged some what and the Ukrainians are a distinct people.

I also want one world government. But it matters how it comes about just as it mattered how the EU came about. France wanted Ireland to raise it taxes. Ireland wanted to keep its' taxes low. France said let's HARMONIZE the tax rates. There is the rub. The devil to use a well worn phrase is in the details.

Sure it would be good for Ukraine and Russia to be one country. But not under Putin. It is better they wait a 100 years or more for the laws to be similar , leaders to be just and the laws to be good than to rush it.

Better separate for now.

I know that normally one shouldn't politicize the Olympics, but short of ruining the 2014 Games (and creating a massive money pit), will anything else send a message to Putin that an attack on freedom is not to be tolerated and will be fought against? The Ukranian masses need Western support.

"government officials announced on Sunday that they would undertake an investigation against opposition leaders they accuse of attempting to seize power, and warned demonstrators that they could also be subjected to criminal charges"
Does this remind us of something? (Hint: IRS)

Obviously nobody wants to see Ukraine dragged back under Kremlin control, but I'm surprised FPM isn't alert to the evils of what many Brits and other West European people refer to as the EUSSR.

Vladimir Bukovsky recognised the Brussels Commissars as a menace years ago and many of us understand that the EU Founding Fathers, pro-nazis like Spaak and Vichy collaborateurs like Schuman, detested democracy, as do their heirs there today. http://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/eussr-participatory-democracy-a-travesty-common-identity-a-joke/ .
