First, My comments are not about being Jewish
but, are directed at the interlopers, the Zionist & the Bolshvik's
Some people in this world can see the difference between right and wrong, their right or my wrong, not so with a "Zionist"

They have over the past thirty years turned public opinion of the Jews up side down and exceeding the likes of the Wahhabi (Salafi) Terrorist, The US Terrorist who support not only the Wahhabi's, but Al-Qaeda, & the Taliban through them.
Both the Zionist & Obama act, or I should say react in direct manner murdering whom every they personally see fit to dispose of?
At the Same time, Jews in Israel live under an Appartide System of Government which places the (Jews) into a three level system of benifits, with the Arabs and Ethiopians below that.
It is well beyond the days of Jew or Gentle.
How may I ask, does any "God Fearing" person, hope to draw someone to your cause, when you are the aggressor, and they (everyone else) Jewish or Gentle is you enemy?

Caroline Glick has no qualms posting offensive and provocative videos produced by her Latma. Glick is shown repeatedly denying the persecution of Palestinian as mere fantasy and propaganda, dreamt up by 'lefties' and 'pro-terrorist' groups. Her extreme right-wing, verging on fascism rantings are condoned and applauded by Zionism's apologist. Yet, they baulk and protest vehemently at a cartoon drawn by Britain's well-known satirist - known for his brutal portrayal of world leaders, steeped in blood and gore. The hypocrisy and double-standard is astonishing.

MAD JEWESS seems about right for you, lol. I don't support Obama at all. In fact, I'm more loathesome of Islamism than I am of Zionism. I think we should offer political refugee status to any Israeli Jew who wants to come live here - as long as they give up agitating for a home in Israel. Let them do that somewhere else. I wouldn't extend the same courtesy to Islamists, to me such people are anathema. But that doesn't make the Zionists any more moral. Is that hard for your biased mind to wrap itself around? Being both anti-Islamist and anti-Zionist. Fyi, my idea is that after we make that offer to all Israeli Jews, we exit the Camp David agreement, stop all aid to Israel and Egypt (and many other countries).

If Zionists want to fight it out in the desert for land they believe a God I don't recognize (which is my right as an American) gave them, they should do so. But why in the world is my country involved in it? The importation of 500k Jews between 1898 and 1948, the arming of Haganah and others by the British were all predicate acts for the invasion and ethnic cleansing that occurred. You are aware the entire idea of "transfer" was discussed openly in Zionist circles for decades before the state of Israel came into being and before the Nazis and the holocaust. There were huge arguments in Jewish circles about this decision at the time and many prominent Jews objected. That's why I cited the Einstein, Arendt et al's open letter to the New York Times in '48, which accused the militant Zionists who'd been busy clearing and occupying 400 cities, towns and villages in land beyond the boundaries granted in the U.N. resolution, of being "Nazis". Their words not mine.

You want to start the clock in 2005 when the clock is and will forever be locked on 1948. You tell me to look up Gush Katif - what, 8600 settlers balances the scale for 650,000? Fyi, the admission of guilt here by Israel is quite telling. Much of the the rest of the 'settlements' are just as immoral and constitute and ongoing crime against humanity if you actually understand that international laws at issue. But I don't expect any kind of intellectual rigor or honesty from somebody like you. Your views are not based on reason and are hence unfalisifiable but contrary facts or reason. You seem to think this is an asset, but really, it's a glaring character defect that makes smart people laugh at you, fyi.

If by any bizarre chance you are actually interested in what the founders of Israel did, read Benny Morris's 1948 and or Righteous Victims. Any American who reads those books and believes that supporting teh Israelis is a moral cause ought to have their head examined.

YOU CALL YOURSELF MAD JEWESS & THEN CLAIM TO BE RIGHT MINDED!

THE MARX BROTHERS WOULD HAVE LOVED THAT ONE!

The Sanhedrin

The ancient Jewish court system was called the Sanhedrin. The Great Sanhedrin was the supreme religious body in the Land of Israel during the time of the Holy Temple. There were also smaller religious Sanhedrins in every town in the Land of Israel, as well as a civil political-democratic Sanhedrin. These Sanhedrins existed until the abolishment of the rabbinic patriarchate in about 425 C.E.

The earliest record of a Sanhedrin is by Josephus who wrote of a political Sanhedrin convened by the Romans in 57 B.C.E. Hellenistic sources generally depict the Sanhedrin as a political and judicial council headed by the country’s ruler.

Tannaitic sources describe the Great Sanhedrin as a religious assembly of 71 sages who met in the Chamber of Hewn Stones in the Temple in Jerusalem. The Great Sanhedrin met daily during the daytime, and did not meet on the Sabbath, festivals or festival eves. It was the final authority on Jewish law and any scholar who went against its decisions was put to death as a zaken mamre (rebellious elder). The Sanhedrin was led by a president called the nasi (lit. "prince") and a vice president called the av bet din (lit. "father of the court"). The other 69 sages sat in a semicircle facing the leaders. It is unclear whether the leaders included the high priest.

The Sanhedrin judged accused lawbreakers, but could not initiate arrests. It required a minimum of two witnesses to convict a suspect. There were no attorneys. Instead, the accusing witness stated the offense in the presence of the accused and the accused could call witnesses on his own behalf. The court questioned the accused, the accusers and the defense witnesses.

The Great Sanhedrin dealt with religious and ritualistic Temple matters, criminal matters appertaining to the secular court, proceedings in connection with the discovery of a corpse, trials of adulterous wives, tithes, preparation of Torah Scrolls for the king and the Temple, drawing up the calendar and the solving of difficulties relating to ritual law.

In about 30 C.E., the Great Sanhedrin lost its authority to inflict capital punishment. After the Temple was destroyed, so was the Great Sanhedrin. A Sanhedrin in Yavneh took over many of its functions, under the authority of Rabban Gamliel. The rabbis in the Sanhedrin served as judges and attracted students who came to learn their oral traditions and scriptural interpretations. From Yavneh, the Sanhedrin moved to different cities in the Galilee, eventually ending up in Tiberias.

Local Sanhedrins consisted of different numbers of sages, depending on the nature of the offenses it dealt with. For example, only a Sanhedrin of 71 could judge a whole tribe, a false prophet or the high priest. There were Sanhedrins of 23 for capital cases and of three scholars to deal with civil or lesser criminal cases.

There were Sanhedrins of 23 for capital cases and of three scholars to deal with civil or lesser criminal cases.

The Talmud

What is the Talmud?

The Talmud is a collection of rabbinical writings that interpret, explain and apply the Torah scriptures.

The Talmud was written between the second and fifth century CE, yet Orthodox Jews (religionfacts article) believe it was revealed to Moses along with the Torah and preserved orally until it was written down. The Talmud is thus known as the "Oral Torah," with the first five books of the Tanakh designated the "Written Torah."

Role of the Talmud in Judaism

In Orthodox Judaism, the Oral Torah is accepted as equally sacred, inspired, and authoritative as the Written Torah. One of the aims of Orthodox Judaism in Israel is to establish Talmudic law as the state law of Israel. Elsewhere in the world, Orthodox Jews submit themselves voluntarily to Talmudic law and the rabbinic court system, especially in matters of dietary and ritual law, marriage and divorce, and social work.

The Talmud also plays an important role in Conservative Judaism (religionfacts article), although it is viewed as an evolutionary process that changes with the times. Both professional and lay Talmudic scholarship is dedicated to determining the proper response to modern issues by intensive study of the Talmud. Reform Judaism (religionfacts article) officially rejects the Talmud as an entirely human invention reflecting medieval thought and values.

In 1923, Polish Rabbi Meir Shapiro organized the Daf Yomi ("the daily page") for a group of students, in which one page of the Talmud is studied each day. This took 2,711 days - about seven and a half years.

The Daf Yomi has since been undertaken by thousands of Jews around the world, and in 1997 a global celebration was held to celebrate the completion of the 10th cycle of readings. Over 70,000 took part in the celebration, which gathered at the locations around the world connected by satellite, including Madison Square Garden, Nassau Coliseum, Eugene, Oregon, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Current Daf Yomi groups, now embarked on the 11th cycle of readings, can be found around the globe and the daily reading is available on the Internet.

The Babylonian Talmud

There are actually two Talmuds: the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud. The former was composed circa 500 CE and the latter was completed around 600 CE.

By the 11th century, the Babylonian Talmud had established supremacy and today it is the one that is meant by "the Talmud." Thus it is the one on which we will concentrate.

The Organization of the Talmud

The Talmud consists of two parts: the Mishnah and the Gemara. The Mishnah is rabbinic commentary on the Torah and the Gemara is rabbinic commentary on the Mishnah.

Mishnah
The Mishnah ("a teaching that is repeated") is organized as a law book, and consists of legal rulings and teachings by rabbis of the first through third centuries CE. It was codified by Rabbi Judah Ha-Nasi around 200 CE and divided into "six orders," or shisha sedarim in Hebrew (the Talmud is known colloquially as "shas" for short), each of which addresses a different aspect of Jewish life:

Zera'im ("Seeds") - blessings, tithes, temple offerings, agriculture
Mo'ed ("Set Feasts") - Sabbath laws and holiday observances
Nashim ("Women") - marriage and divorce
Nezikin ("Damages") - idolatry, matters of civil law, and the Pirke Avot
Kodashim ("Holy Things") - sacrificial system in the Temple, dietary laws
Tohorot ("Purities") - ritual purity and impurity
Each Order contains seven to twelve subdivisions called tractates (masekhtot). There are a total of 63 tractates in the Mishnah: see the Fast Facts page for a list of them. The tractates are further divided into chapters. The most commonly read tractate is the Pirke Avot (Sayings of the Fathers), a collection of ethical rules.

Gemara
The Gemara ("completion") is primarily a commentary on the Mishnah. Like the Mishnah, it contains matters of Jewish law (halakhah), but it also includes stories, legends, and sermons (aggadah, "discourse").

YO MAD JEWESS,

ARE YOU QUOTING Yeshua Ha-Mashiach:

"Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"

Speaking to Talmudic Jews, he said:

John 8:43-47

43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!
46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me?
47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

Now, you should read Matthew ch 5 to ch 7, The Sermon on the Mount.
Read Matthew ch 15 for his thoughts on Talmudic Jewish teaching.
Read Matthew ch 19 for his thoughts on Divorce.
Read Matthew ch 23 for his thoughts on Talmudic Judaism.

JESUS OF NAZARETH IN THE TALMUD

Many passages in the Talmudic books treat of the birth, life, death, and teachings of Jesus Christ. He is not always referred to by the same name, however, but is diversely called "That Man," "A Certain One," "The Carpenter's Son," "The One Who Was Hanged," etc.

Concerning the Names of Jesus Christ

1. The real name of Jesus in Hebrew is Jeschua Hanotsri - Jesus the Nazarene. He is called Notsri from the city of Nazareth in which he was brought up. Thus in the Talmud Christians also are called Notsrim - Nazarenes.
Since the word Jeschua means "Savior," the name Jesus rarely occurs in the Jewish books. It is almost always abbreviated to Jeschu ,which is maliciously taken as if it were composed of the initial letters of the three words Immach Schemo Vezikro - "May his name and memory be blotted out."
2. In the Talmud Jesus is called Otho Isch - "That man," i.e. the one who is known to all. In the tract Abhodah Zarah, 6a, we read:

"He is called a Christian who follows the false teachings of that man, who taught them to celebrate the feast on the first day of the Sabbath, that is, to worship on the first day after the Sabbath"

3. Elsewhere he is simply called Peloni - "A Certain One." In Chagigah, 4b, we read:
"Mary...the mother of a certain one, of whom it is related in Schabbath..." (104b)
That this Mary is none other than the mother of Jesus will be shown later.

4. Out of contempt, Jesus is also called Naggar bar naggar - "the carpenter son of a carpenter", also Ben charsch etaim - "the son of a wood worker."

5. He is also called Talui - "The one who was hanged." Rabbi Samuel, the son of Mair, in the Hilch. Akum of Maimonides, refers to the fact that it was forbidden to take part in the Christian feats of Christmas and Easter because they were celebrated on account of him who was hanged. And Rabbi Aben Ezra, in a commentary on Genes. also calls him Talui, whose image the Emperor Constantine reproduced on his banner. "...in the days of Constantine, who made a change of religion and placed the figure of the one who was hanged on his banner."

WHY ARE YOU TRYING SOOOO HARD TO LOOK STUPID?

"ALSO, some that WAS written was written 2K years ago- it is ORAL, meaning that it was FOR THAT TIME".

Oral Tradition was controlled Tradition! Only the Sages & Rabbis had the knowledge! It wasn't until around 500 CE that they had to write it down, because too many of those who had memorized the volumes of the Talmud were being killed in wars.

THE HOLY BABYLONIAN TALMUD?

The Talmud is Judaism's holiest book (actually a collection of books). Its authority takes precedence over the Old Testament in Judaism. Evidence of this may be found in the Talmud itself, Erubin 21b (Soncino edition):

"My son, be more careful in the observance of the words of the Scribes than in the words of the Torah (Old Testament)."

Jewish scholar Hyam Maccoby, in "Judaism on Trial," quotes Rabbi Yehiel ben Joseph:

"Further, without the Talmud, we would not be able to understand passages in the Bible ... God has handed this authority to the sages and tradition is a necessity as well as scripture. The Sages also made enactments of their own ... anyone who does not study the Talmud cannot understand Scripture."

The Talmud (and not the Scriptures) is the legal/canonical text which obligates those who follow the Jewish religion. It is from the Talmud that laws, regulations, and world views are drawn. In practice, the everyday life of the modern religious person is drawn and influenced by the Talmud.

NOW SIT DOWN, MAD JEWESS & LISTEN:

The idea of a classless, stateless society based on communal ownership of property and wealth stretches far back in Western thought long before The Communist Manifesto. Some have traced communist ideas back to ancient times, such as in Pythagoreanism and Plato's The Republic; or (perhaps with more justification) to the early Christian Church, as described in the Acts of the Apostles.

You see, Communism (TRUE communism, as Marx envisioned it) would be Utopia, no worries, no problems, everything would be fine.

The problem is, people. Human nature prevents them from letting their neighbor having what we have. We always have to have more, and that ruins it.
In short, greed.

Gandhi was an advocate for socialism and communism, but warned that it was not the same as that imagined by the Europeans and Americans. Writing in the English Daily Amrita Bazar Patrika on August 2-3, 1934, he said, "Socialism and communism of the West are based on certain conception which are fundamentally different from ours. One such conception is their belief in essential selfishness of human nature. I do not subscribe to it for I know that the former can respond to the call of the spirit in him, can rise superior to the passions that he owns in common with the brute and, therefore, superior to selfishness and violence, which belong to the brute nature and not to the immortal spirit of man ... Our socialism or communism should, therefore, be based on nonviolence and on harmonious co-operation of labor and capital, landlord and tenant."

If you're wanting to know about modern communism, then yes, I would think that Karl Marx would have been the main one to develop the ideas for it.

Soncino Babylonian Talmud

TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH
WITH NOTES, GLOSSARY
AND INDICES
UNDER THE EDITORSHIP OF
RABBI DR. I. EPSTEIN
B.A., Ph.D., D. Lit.

FOREWORD BY
THE VERY REV. THE LATE CHIEF RABBI
DR. J. H. HERTZ

INTRODUCTION BY
THE EDITOR

THE SONCINO PRESS
LONDON
These are the Sederim ("orders", or major divisions) and tractates (books) of the Babylonian Talmud, as translated and organized for publication by the Soncino Press in 1935 - 1948. The tractates available on the Come and Hear web page are provided with hot links.
The English terms in italics are taken from the Introductions in the respective Soncino volumes. A summary of the contents of each Tractate is given in the Introduction to the Seder, and a detailed summary by chapter is given in the Introduction to the Tractate.

There are about 12,800 printed pages in the Soncino Talmud, not counting introductions, indexes, glossaries, etc. Of these, Come and Hear™ has put about 8050 pages on line, comprising about 1460 files — about 63% of the Soncino Talmud. However, this should in no way be considered a substitute for the printed edition, with the complete text, fully cross-referenced footnotes, a master index, an index for each tractate, scriptural index, rabbinical index, and so on. The sole purpose for the presentation of this text is to provide full context for the many things that are said and heard about the Talmud, and to invite further study.
