Kerry Forces Israel’s Moment of Decision

There was a ghoulish creepiness to US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Israel last week. Here we were, beset by the greatest winter storm in a hundred years. All roads to Jerusalem were sealed off. Tens of thousands of Jerusalemites and residents of surrounding areas were locked down in their houses, without power, heat, telephone service or water.

And all of the sudden, out of nowhere, Kerry appeared. As Hamas-ruled Gazans begged the supposedly hated IDF to come and save them from the floods, and as Israel took over rescue operations for stranded Palestinians living under the rule of the PLO ’s gangster kleptocracy in Judea and Samaria, here was Kerry, telling us that we’d better accept the deal he plans to present us next month, or face the wrath of the US and Europe, and suffer another Palestinian terror war.

What is going on? Why can’t Kerry leave Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the rest of the country alone, even for a week, in the middle of a blizzard of biblical proportions? According to leaks from the now five month old negotiations, after 20 rounds of talks, the Palestinians have not budged from the positions they have held to for the past 50 years. They do not accept Israel’s right to exist. They do not recognize the existence of the Jewish people. They do not believe that the Jews have the right to freedom or self-determination. They insist on taking control of our 3,000 year old capital. They demand that we surrender our ability to defend ourselves from foreign aggression and Palestinian attacks and infiltration from the east.

There is nothing new here, of course, This was the case 13 years ago at the Camp David summit. This was the case during the Annapolis summit in 2007 and 2008.

This was the case when PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas rejected then prime minister Ehud Olmert’s offer of peace in 2008.

Facing the Palestinians’ continued defiance of the very notion of peaceful coexistence with Israel, Kerry is planning to present his own peace deal next month and try to force Israel to accept it. Although the text of Kerry’s deal has not yet been revealed, we know exactly what it will involve just by listening to what he has already told us.

In his speech at the Saban Forum on December 7, Kerry said, “For many years the broad contours of an eventual solution have been absolutely clear, and they were crystallized for the world in December of 2000 when president Clinton laid down the parameters for a final-status agreement. They were reaffirmed through the Annapolis process during the Bush administration.”

The Clinton parameters involved a near complete American embrace of the PLO ’s maximalist demands. The Annapolis guidelines went even further in the PLO ’s direction.

And now, Kerry intends to put forth his own parameters that will be even more forthcoming to the PLO than either the Clinton or Bush administrations were.

Like the Clinton and Bush plans, the Kerry parameters will involve Israeli surrender of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to the PLO , which rejects the historical fact that two Jewish temples were built at the site that was and remains the cradle of Jewish civilization and history and holiest site to Judaism.

They will involve the mass expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Jews from their homes in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to make room for an anti-Semitic, Jew-free state that maintains its devotion to the destruction of the rump Jewish state.

Kerry’s framework deal will involve the mass immigration of hundreds of thousands of foreign-born Arabs, who have been living in al-Qaida-, Hamas- and PLO -controlled UN-run “refugee camps,” for the past four generations.

Kerry’s plan will require Israeli society to destroy its cohesion through the dismemberment and destruction of hundreds of Jewish communities. As occurred before the Gaza withdrawal, it will require the government to oversee the demonization and criminalization of well over three million law abiding, patriotic Israeli citizens who oppose the mass expulsions.

Kerry’s parameters will require Israel to surrender its ability to defend itself against foreign aggression and Palestinian attacks. As for the Palestinians, implementation of the Kerry parameters will guarantee that all moderate elements in their society, including among Israeli Arabs, will be overwhelmed and destroyed. The PLO state in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, like the Hamas state in Gaza, will be breeding grounds for global jihadists. They will actively incite, organize and oversee an armed insurrection of the Arabs of the Galilee and the Negev, meting out punishment for all dissenters.

As for the US forces that Kerry proposes deploying to the Jew-free PLO state, they will be targeted by the Palestinians, just as the Palestinians and the Syrians attacked US Marines in Beirut 30 years ago. And like the Marines in Beirut, they will be withdrawn in humiliation and defeat, but the lesson – that the Arabs perceive the Americans and Jews as enemies of equal weight – will not be learned. And, at any rate, unable to defend itself after agreeing to Kerry’s parameters, Israel will cease to be a strategic ally and be transformed into a strategic basket case. Its destruction will interest Kerry and his supporters just as much as the destruction of South Vietnam interested them in 1975.

Aside from being a more anti-Israel version of the Clinton parameters and Bush’s framework, Kerry’s parameters, and framework deal, have one other unique and particularly dangerous feature. Until now, US peace plans followed former prime minister Ehud Barak’s dictum that “nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed to.”

That is, no hypothetical Israeli concession on Jerusalem, for instance, will be binding unless a final deal is concluded.

Kerry indicated at the Saban Forum that his goal is to coerce Israel into making irrevocable concessions up front, before the Palestinians agree to peaceful coexistence.

As he put it, “A basic framework will have to address all the core issues – borders, security, refugees, Jerusalem, mutual recognition, and an end of claims. And it will have to establish agreed guidelines for subsequent negotiations that will fill out the details in a full-on peace treaty.”

For the past five and a half years, Netanyahu’s strategy for dealing with US President Barack Obama has been to try to survive him. He’s withstood Obama’s constant demand for Israeli national suicide for “peace” by giving the bare minimum of revocable concession possible to keep Obama at bay.

But with Kerry poised to shove his lethal parameters down our throats, parameters that will require Israel to irrevocably accept terms of peace that will destroy the country, it is obvious that Netanyahu needs to adopt a longer-term strategy. Our goal cannot be limited to waiting out Obama. Our goal must be to extricate Israel from the two-state trap.

Yes, Israel will pay a huge price for jumping ship. For 20 years, non-leftist Israeli leaders have been trying to go along to get along with the Left, and the Americans and their ever-escalating demands. But Kerry’s obsessive harping, and his insistence on pushing forward with his disastrous framework deal forces our hand.

Either we pay a huge price now, or accept our destruction within five to 15 years.

Israel should wean itself off American aid so that the U.S. can no longer use such aid as leverage to pressurize the Jewish nation into making suicidal concessions.
It was because of America’s undue influence that Israel was unable to mount preemptive strikes to prevent the Yom Kippur war, which the Jewish nation nearly lost.
It was because of U.S. that Israel gave up the Sinai with its rich oil/gas fields for a worthless piece of paper called Camp David accord.
It was also U.S. that pressured Israel into the Oslo accords, giving PLO intifada foothold in the West bank.

  • Allan Rowley

Interesting, Obama/Kerry think they are greater than God. The Biblical God has His archangel Micheal guarding Jerusalem/Israel, all Obama has is Satan’s demons. Since the 1967 war which Israel against all odds won, the US has forced Israel to capitulate land for a false peace. God gave the land to Israel, who ever takes that land away from Israel is a “goat” (Matt 25:32). Lord help the US and Europe for His wrath is about to be expended upon thee for abiding with the enemy of God (Islam).

  • Hank Rearden

This is the result of Israel acceding to negotiations for the last 50 years. They have implied an illegitimacy on the part of the nation and a willingness to alter fundamental realities. So stop negotiating. Barak made a comprehensive offer to Arafat. Let Israel await a comprehensive offer from the Palis.

    • Mickey Oberman

Thank you, Caroline Glick for your clarity of vision.

      Abbas’ comprehensive offer.
      “Abracadabra – Vanish !.”

  • Bubba

Your comments on America are correct. However, it is time that you hammer Netanyahu as vigorously as you do Obama. Lets face it, if Netanyahu caves to Chinese pressure and prohibits an agent from testifying in order to travel to China, do you really think that he will say no to Obama? Get real Caroline, until you get a new prime minister it is curtains for Israel. Netanyahu is spineless.

  • WillielomanIII

Excellent column as usual from the brilliant Caroline, but the language that should be used is the following: The United States government is proposing the Ethnic Cleansing of Jews from an area, Judea and Samaria, where they have been indigenous people for over 3500 years, and with that, the United States government is also proposing stripping the indigenous people, the Jews, of the right to use and possess the most holy ground in all of Judaism, the Temple Mount. The one thing that we all should learn from Obama/Axelrod is that words matter and it is critically important that the terms Ethnic Cleansing, Indigenous People, and Most Holy Site in Judaism be used over and over and over.

    – That Israel’s conflict is only with the Arabs of West Bank/Gaza instead of Arab/Islamic Imperialism in general;

    – That the conflict is “territorial”, i.e., relates to only part of the lands under Israel, instead of being “existential”, i.e., relating to ALL lands that constitute Israel;

    – That there existed a national group such as “Palestinians” deserving a sovereign state, while in actual fact by self-admission there existed only Arabs of a “Greater South Syrian” ethnic identity, that already had a state in Jordan. In fact if these Arabs were ever to get a state, Fatah would aspire to join a pan-Arab empire, while Hamas would strive to become part of a pan-Islamic Caliphate.

    – That the PLO gave up their Jihad for the “right of return” of 1948 Arab refugees, or that in Arab/Muslim eyes it even had the right or authority to do so;

    – That the PLO would recognize Israel as the Jewish nation-state, while in reality it can only recognize Israel as a state that will transform itself into the 3rd Palestinian-Arab state (besides Jordan and “Palestine”) by way of a return of Arab refugees to Israel proper.

If Arabs had aimed at true peace with Israel, they would not have invented a non-existent “Palestinian” nation — or rather, anti-nation — that aspires either to replace the Jewish nation-state or render it indefensible. They would have instead achieved a 3-State Solution long ago with Israel, Egypt and Jordan, the latter being the already-existing Palestinian-Arab state.

The 2-State Plan doesn’t make sense only if you think its aim is Peace; it makes a lot of sense as the necessary next step for the 1974 PLO Staged Plan to dismantle Israel.

The Deicidal Curse upon the race of Christ-Crucifying Jews is obvious for all to see.

“Their countenance doth witness against them,” saith the Lord.

God will NOT be mocked. What the Jews sowed they are now reaping in their faces.

    • Kathy M

LOL! You’re no Christian. You’re trying to slander Christians.

      • Karolina

You kikes are really boring, you know that?

    • defcon 4

Sarcastically speaking, we all know Yeshua was very fond of making genocidal curses — especially against the Jews! I think our cleverly disguised ahmed is here confusing the ideology of muhammad for that of Yeshua.

      • BenZacharia

Sounds like the taunts thrown by guys named ‘Vinnie’ ‘Carl’ and ‘Sean’ on the lower east side, ‘Ahmeds’ don’t believe Yeshua died and is risen.

    • Wolfthatknowsall

I’ve known many people in Jews for Jesus. None of them ever said anything like you just said (completely out of context, I might add).

    • truebearing

The implication of your comment is that all Jews killed Jesus, but obviously that isn’t true. The Disciples were Jewish, and they didn’t kill Jesus. The vast majority of his original followers were Jewish and they didn’t participate in killing Jesus. Your comment is idiotic and demonstrably false.

No, God will not be mocked. You will reap what you sow.

  • Texas Patriot

    It’s a grim moment.

    • defcon 4

Where are all the “moderate” muslimes? WHy aren’t they, like the fabled unicorn, or gryphon, coming to the aid of all those oppressed, murdered and persecuted by islam?

      • Leland64

There are no moderates only Jihadies and soon to be Jihadies.

  • lessthantolerant

Lurch suffers from the belief he is smarter than all others. He also actually thinks followers of Islam can be negotiated with and trusted. This will force Israel to either defend themselves or die.
Lurch will learn as Albright did, stupidity is punishable by disappointment.
Hopefully this will become the spark which ignites the ME into a major regional war

    • Drakken

You have no idea how right you are.

      • lessthantolerant

Let’s hope he brings about a major conflict in the ME early in 2014.

  • Joe

Glick possesses all of the attributes of a narcissists victim with a healthy Masada complex who helps perpetuate the disgusts the world shares witnessing oppressing with extreme brutally the Palestinian people.

    • Drakken

Your friends the pali savages are lucky that I am not in charge, for I would give them a taste of Carthage. Deo Volente haji, for you useful idiots of the left Quislings are about to witness your treachery.

    • defcon 4

What happened to the million Jews who used to live in islam0nazi Syria, Egyptistan, Iraqistan and the rest of N. Africa again Hajji?

  • RACH’s Idea

Asking the Jewish people to sacrifice themselves again is the American way. Seems like everyone way. What the hell is wrong with the World?

  • Kathy M

Long story short, Kerry is calling for an eventual end of Israel. I wonder if he consulted with Mr. Obama’s twenty-year spiritual advisor, Jeramiah Wright, on this since he wants the same thing? Lurch, aka Kerry, is merely carrying water for Obama. This is Obama’s plan.

  • Leland64

Obama is a liar and pro-Muslim Brotherhood. Kerry is a fool, liar and traitor. These so-called negotiations are merely cover for the destruction of Israel. Ms. Glick may be optimistic – less than five years is possible.

    • Drakken

War one way or another is coming, prepare yourself. I would have to say less than 5 years and let the dogs of war decide.

      • defcon 4

I know I’m not surrendering. Why bother? Fascists don’t allow their critics breathing privileges.

  • Anukem Jihadi

I think Kerry is passively making it very clear what kind of “solution” he ultimately has in mind.

    • defcon 4

It’s possible the zero and he don’t want anyone killed. Maybe all they want is Israel be made into an islamic state and the najjis kaffir there put in their proper islamic place as disenfranchised, persecuted, second class citizens.

  • ClinKerrObagang

Bibi, everyone can see that Bully’s plans are tearing you apart. So for the sake of all the Jews and others who loves Israël, say NO to this absurd plans and walk out. Take the brutality because they are doing so too.

  • Geoffrey_Britain

Yes, pay the huge price now of the loss of American support, or accept your destruction within five to 15 years. The choice is simple. Pay the price now, Israel can survive without America. It won’t be easy but the hardest part is Israel freeing itself from its dependent mind-set. Time to get tough or die. Time to tell the Palestinians to go pound sand and the Obama administration to put its head ‘where the sun don’t shine’.

  • Drakken

Israel, take note, nobody is going to respect you if you give these muslim sub human savages quarter, time to take off the velvet gloves and put on the mailed fist and give them Carthage. About time allah(devil) sorts em out.

    • witness

We are the generation in earths history that is witnessing the miraculous re-gathering of Gods ancient people back into their biblical homeland against all odds and in the midst of great controversy as is predicted specifically in several places throughout the O.T.For us who see what bible scholars of old longed to see but did’nt, how sad that so much of the christian church has become so biblically illiterate that we have truly become the frog in the kettle. For you see that the biblical narrative is coming to pass so steadily and incrementally that most christians have no clue that the water is this close to a boil. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is about to use that tiny nation to reveal himself in unmistakable terms to a very lost and unbelieving world. GOD/ISRAEL-JUST SAY THOSE TWO WORDS TOGETHER A FEW TIMES SLOWLY UNTIL THE MEANING STARTS TO REALLY SINK IN. MARANATHA

  • Ampersand

Most American Jews voted for Obama and still stand behind him. I am one of the few who did not. The Obama supporting Jews look down on those like me who don’t support “the One”.

  • No One

There always seems to be something in Miss Glicks writings that I didn’t know or hadn’t thought of before.

“Its destruction will interest Kerry and his supporters just as much as
the destruction of South Vietnam interested them in 1975.”

This is a profoundly powerful and damning sentence. I imagine most Americans don’t even know what she is referring too. And that is disturbing since it will once again demonstrate that history repeats when forgotten.

But it is powerful in that it characterizes two simultaneous images for the reader. 1) The liberal congress sold out an entire people, the Vietnamese, after promises of aid. 2) That Israelis could experience a similar fate.

And third, it paints John Kerry as the Brahman Yippy liar he was in the Vietnam era, when his rotten generation threw the Vietnamese to the wolves and ran.

Miss Glick has touched on something here.

    • Keithg369

This american knows what she’s referring to. The current administration is following the Chamberlain path of appeasement to enemies who negotiate only as long as they gain what they want and give up nothing.

And just like Chamberlain finally witnessed first hand, when these same nations can no longer wrangle another concession, they then attack. Worse, they attack with resource and logistical advantages they only possess as a result of the negotiations.

Curious that in the US a majority of firms practice behavioral interviewing. The concept in short is that past behavior is a good predictor of future behavior. It’s not a terribly difficult concept.

Chamberlain had the excuse of coming off the horrors of WWI. There is no excuse for this administration. Either it’s willful ignorance or something worse.

      • kikorikid

        Why not say the word?
        Willful ignorance or TREASON.

    • Wolfthatknowsall

Finally, I see someone else who understand what happened in 1975. The North Vietnam that was a wreck from end-to-end and thoroughly defeated by US forces was handed a victory they didn’t deserved by the DEMs, who violated their responsibility to South Vietnam, solemnly entered into in the Paris Peace Accords.

My best friend was killed in Vietnam in 1969, and I was right next to him. I will never forget or forgive what Congress did in 1975 …

Your’re right about this sentence …

  • Walter Sieruk

The main thing that should be made clear is that all ofthat land in that area in the Middle East belongs to theJewish people. It belongs tothem by Divine Right. As that Bible teaches. As in Genesis 28:1315 35:10-12 Deuteromont 32:48,49. Psalm 105:7-11. 135:4. This land also belongs the the Jewish people by the right of history, First kings 4:20,21,24,25. 8:55,56. Furthermore, at the risk of sounding too extreme is may be that Obama and Kerry do have a bit of the spirit of the coming Anti- christ in them. For one of the things that the anti-christ will want to do is to is to “divide the land…” Daniel 11:39.

  • Wolfthatknowsall

I’m an American, and I say that Israel should … and indeed, must … reject these US demands, and do what is best for them. The current American regime does not have Israel’s interests, at heart, nor does it wish Israel freedom, peace, and justice.

Obama and Kerry are in the hot tub with the Palestinians. PM Netanyahu must reject them …

As for me, I will pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and work to make sure that an Israel-friendly government comes to power in America …

  • John Raatz

I truly pray that I am mistaken, but it seems to me that next year does not bode well for the world at large, for Israel, Jerusalem and for those who will launch their next attempt to destroy His people. Of course, I’m talking about the Blood Moons, the first of which falls on Passover, April 14/15th 2014. Perhaps some of my Jacobean brothers and sisters of age remember the last time a Blood Moon on a festival day occurred and what Yehova did for His chosen people and His land.
If I am mistaken, then I am mistaken. However, Kerry, his boss and this administration may very well simply be playing their part in the grand scheme of things whether they know it or nor or believe it or not. I will continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and my Jacobean brothers and sisters and Israel and hope that as Yehova once again proves that He alone protects His people, He alone gives victory, that at least some of the currently blind and deaf are healed and cured.
Thank you, Caroline, for another insightful commentary, but like relying on the broken reed of Egypt or “other” human allies has never worked out well for your blessed homeland, I pray that now, not tomorrow or next week, Israel remembers their Deliverer, their God, our God and breaks out the sackcloth and ashes and once again calls upon Him to save the remnant of Israel.
May Christ’s peace, love and blessings be upon you and Israel and Jerusalem and all of His children for His mercy endures forever and ever.

  • An American for Israel

It is painfully difficult for me to watch how this current administration is acting toward the state of Israel and their treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu whom I have a tremendous amount of respect for. As a Christian and an American citizen, I believe what is going on is evil to the core. I hope that the Jewish people of Israel know that there are many Americans who feel as I do. Unfortunately, we are now in the minority and our hearts are breaking watching the slow yet steady changes our country is going through. I take solace in one thing. I know HaMashiach Yeshua is watching over Israel and at the right time He will step in and protect her. My prayers are with you, Israel.

    “For thus saith the LORD of hosts;
After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for
he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.” (Zechariah 2:8)

  • truebearing

Kerry is a mindless marionette, woodenly lurching along to the tune of his masters. Soros and the rest of Evil Inc are pulling his strings and trying desperately to convince Israelis into accepting a “solution” that will make it possible for conventional weapons to destroy Israel.

The bigger the buffer zone Israel has, the less likely it will be that a conventional attack can overwhelm Israel before it can defend itself, if necessary with nuclear weapons. What deterrent are nukes when you have to drop them on yourselves?

  • T800

Comrade Obama’s tactic here is to put Israel in such a position that if they refuse to go along with Comrade Hussein’s plan for Israel, the US will no longer support Israel, disconnecting the US from Israel. IOW,moving the US from friend to enemy, and become an ally with the muslims.
Comrade Obama IS the muslim Manchurian Candidate.

There’s a reason why post-college,Comrade Hussein traveled to Pakistan. it’s not because he was a Christian. There’s a reason why Comrade Hussein was aided in getting into college by Saudi money and influence.

  • reuven

Kerry is out to annhilate Israel. He is the personification of evil. Whatever this no good bum demands of Israel, we must do the opposite, starting with putting on ice the worst of the terrorists he already has forced us to release, and NEVER releasing even one more, at his bequest.
