The Left’s New Campaign to Destroy a Friend of Israel’s: Michele Bachmann

To sign the Freedom Center’s  petition to stop the witch-hunt against Rep. Michele Bachmann,  click here. And  please spread the word about this petition far and wide!

Israel has many passionate supporters on Capitol Hill, particularly on the Republican side of the aisle. These are men and women who are deeply committed to Israel and understand that Israel is the US’s only reliable ally in the Middle East and America’s most vital ally in the world today in light of the rise of radical Islamic regimes, movements and leaders.

Now that Obama has officially entered his second term in office, Israel enters a period unlike any it has experienced before. It will face a hostile US president who does not fear the voters. Moreover, it faces a US president who is so hostile to Israel that his first serious act after his reelection was to appoint Chuck Hagel Defense Secretary, (and John Brennan CIA Director).

As I wrote last week, I believe that Israel will not be the hardest hit by Obama’s “transformative” foreign policy over the next four years. As an independent state, Israel has the ability to diversify its network of strategic allies and so mitigate somewhat the hit it will take from the Obama administration. The US, and first and foremost the US military, will not be so fortunate.

Not surprisingly, Israel’s biggest defenders in the US Capitol are also the most outspoken allies of the US military and the most concerned about maintaining America’s ability to remain the most powerful nation on earth both economically and militarily. They are as well, Obama’s most outspoken critics on the Hill.

For their outspoken criticism, and their competence, these men and women have been targeted for political destruction by Obama and his allies. Last November we saw this leftist machine outgun and so defeat Cong. Allen West in Florida and Joe Walsh in Illinois. Both men were targeted by Obama’s smear machine that included, among other things, J-Street endorsements of their opponents, and rancid attacks against them.

One of the voices that Obama’s machine has spent millions of dollars trying to silence is that of Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

As a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence, and as a contender in the Republican presidential primaries, Bachmann has been one of Israel’s most passionate and articulate defenders and one of Obama’s most effective critics on everything from federal spending to Obama’s abandonment of the US-Israel alliance to his opening of the US federal government and intelligence apparatuses to members of the Muslim Brotherhood – that is to members of a movement dedicated to the destruction of the American way of life.

For her efforts, Rep. Bachmann has been the target of repeated media smear campaigns, often joined by skittish Republicans like John McCain who failed to recognize the danger of the Muslim Brotherhood’s rise in Libya and Egypt, and failed to understand the danger that the penetration of the US federal government by Muslim Brotherhood members constitutes to US national security.

I have had the privilege and pleasure of meeting with Rep. Bachmann on several occasions over the years. She is one of the most intelligent women I know. And her grasp of the nature and importance of the US-Israel alliance is extraordinary. So too, her understanding of the challenges to US national security is clear, educated and sophisticated.

Watch for instance these speeches that she has delivered in recent months.

The day she announced her candidacy for President:

And at the Values Voters Summit shortly before the Presidential election:

In the past, every time that I have written about Cong. Bachmann, I have been bombarded with comments from readers who say that they cannot believe I can support her, since they claim, she is such an extremist. But Cong. Bachmann is not an extremist at all.

What she is is a victim of a very successful smear campaign undertaken by people who recognize her talent, conviction, intelligence and effectiveness. They set out to destroy and marginalize her, just as they set out to destroy and marginalize Mitt Romney and West and Walsh and many others, because they perceive these leaders as a threat to their agendas.

Today Cong. Bachmann is the target of a new leftist smear campaign, organized by the far Left People for the American Way. The campaign involves a petition that has reportedly been signed already by 178,000 people demanding that House Speaker John Boehner expel Rep. Bachmann from the House Select Committee on Intelligence.

The proximate cause for the petition is a series of letters Bachmann and five other (wonderful and similarly courageous) Congressional colleagues penned to the Inspectors General of the Departments of Homeland Security, the Defense Department, the State Department, Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Justice asking for the IGs to conduct an investigation of the ties senior officials in these departments have with the Muslim Brotherhood.

For her efforts, Bachmann was condemned not only by the Left, but by Senator John McCain as a bigot and a McCarthyite.

But she is none of these things. And last month, her concerns were borne out when the Egyptian magazine Rose al Youssef published an article about Muslim Brotherhood operatives in senior positions in the Obama administration. According to the article, these operatives have transformed the US “from a position hostile to Islamic groups and organizations in the world, to the largest and most important supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.” (Here is the Investigative Project on Terrorism’s translation of the article.)

Among those mentioned in the articles are some of the officials that Bachmann named in her letters last July. Far from waging a McCarthyite, bigoted witch hunt against guileless American citizens, as the Egyptian article makes clear, her concerns were founded in fact and totally reasonable.

Before Obama was reelected, I heard repeatedly that supporters of Israel like Alan Dershowitz, Ed Koch, and Haim Saban who had properly criticized Obama’s hostility towards Israel but then supported his reelection bid, did so because they believed that by supporting him, they would be in a position to pressure him to support Israel in his second term. According to this line of reasoning, these men and others like them believed that Obama would listen to them in his second term if – but only if – they supported his reelection against a candidate who was clearly more supportive of Israel than Obama.

By appointing Hagel as Defense Secretary, Obama made clear even before he was sworn in for his second term that this assumption was completely wrong. By supporting his reelection they supported giving Obama four years to lead American foreign policy unconstrained by the need to feign support for Israel. When you empower your enemies, your enemies are empowered.

By the same token, when you support your friends, your friends are empowered. Rep. Bachmann is a friend of Israel’s. And she is an American patriot committed to doing everything in her power to protecting the US and defending and maintaining America as the indispensable nation.

In response to the PFAW’s petition, the David Horowitz Freedom Center, with which I am proud to be formally associated as the Director of its Israel Security Project, launched a counter-petition to Speaker Boehner voicing support for Bachmann. If you are a US citizen, please take a few moments to sign the petition.

Michele Bachmann has two big strikes against her. She is a staunch friend to Israel, and she has exposed the Islamic hydra. As such, she is a mortal threat to both the red/green alliance, the real ruling entities within U.S. power centers.

Her campaign to alert Americans is described herein, and it is not a pretty picture, but it is totally on target –

The above is just its tip.

    • Victoryman

You are right on the mark, AdinaK. Michele Bachmann, along with Sarah Palin are two of the strongest supporters of Israel. Both continue to be trashed by the state run media and the obama administration. I fear for both our countries when the three stooges – Kerry, Hagel and Brennan are approved by the senate with the help of quislings like McCain, Schumer, Boxer, etc. I pray for both our nations.

  • Suzanne

Michele Bachmann is a very courageous politician. Another wonderful American is Frank Gafney who has tried to expose the Muslim Brotherhood's penetration into the highest levels of our government. It is very sad that Obama won another election. I don't remember the country ever being more divided and four more years of him are hard to imagine. Not overly sure Republicans will win the next election either. Unless there is a massive turnaround in the mentality of this country, we are lost.

    • Roger

Who says he won it? There were a lot of voting irregularities ignored by the media.

He is from Chicago you know, where the dead vote regularly.

      • WildJew

I think it can be fairly said, there wasn't a massive vote against Obama. If there were, the irregularities and the fraud would have been dwarfed by comparison. The voting public doesn't get it. It is obscene this man has the approval ratings he has.

        • Roger

I really, really wish I could say you're wrong…. I could. But not if I look at the facts and voting.

Facts are a stubborn thing that way. Hitler had a similar electorate also. But unlike Obama, Hitler wanted a strong economy for his country. Isn't it a shame, not only did a dictator get re-elected but we also got the 'retarded' dictator.

          • WildJew

Roger, I have a question for you or any member who wants to take a stab at it. Has the Republican party become a Godless party that we find ourselves defeated time and again by this evil demagogue? I do not consider myself a religious man.. I believe in God. If you read the Bible, its heroes prayed to God for victory over their enemies. I think of Joshua and David for example.

In Joshua's second war following Jericho, Israel fled before and were killed by Ai. Joshua fell on his face before the God of Israel; YHWH. Unlike this piece and others I have read, Joshua did not blame the enemy for the defeat. He did not blame AFCW, "Ai For The Canaanite Way." He wanted to know why God was not blessing Israel with victory over Israel's wicked enemies. God told Joshua Israel had sin in its camp.

"Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them….Therefore the sons of Israel cannot stand before their enemies; they turn their backs before their enemies, for they have become accursed…"

          • Ar'nun

The Republicans, like the Democrats have evolved into Technocrats. Both parties have similarities in that they both adore power, want more of it, and believe they can Legislate a better life for all. What niether party seems to understand is that you can pass law after law after law but unless people follow these laws, it doesn't much matter. The Republicans may in fact have turned their back on Hashem but it shouldn't matter to us since Hashem should be the only true ruler over us. Technically the President in the big picture is simply middle management. And there is lies the difference between the Right and Left. On the average people level we on the right still believe that God will save us. And those on the left are happier to trade their God for Obama, since Obama is flesh and blood and simple people need something simple to believe in.

          • WildJew

God told the prophet He would use the Chaldeans to uproot, destroy and enslave Judah. The prophet pleaded: "Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor. Why do You look with favor On those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they?"

More righteous than the Babylonians was Judah. Republicans (as weak as they are) are more righteous in my view than Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the Democrats; yet Obama is "swallowing them up." Obama is swallowing up wealth and prosperity in the nation. You say it should not matter to us that the Republicans may have turned their back on HaShem –Republican party since G. W. Bush strongly supports the Palestinian / Muslim cause against Israel and the land of Israel; Republicans support a Muslim-enemy state in Israel just like the Democrats. How can anyone think Republicans have not turned their back on Hashem?

Obama has hurt me personally, my property value, my business, my income, my personal worth, etc. How can you say it shouldn't matter to me?

          • Anonymous

Just as Obama is betraying the very foundations of the United States — betraying the Constitution, routinely violating the rule of law, acting as a dictatorial tyrant through his czars and executive orders — so, too, is the Republican Party acting to betray defenders of the United States, such as McCain's outrageous statements against M. Bachmann. McCain, sided with Democrats, and supported radical Islmists in Libya, among other things.

          • Anonymous

Barry Rubin used the episode of Ai as an informative text of what not to do as a leader (Joshua knew that the enemy — upon seeing troops turn tail and flee –would invite total destruction; but rather than take responsibility for the rout, he singled out Achan — the parallel being Obama leading the retreat from Islamists, incurring Benghazi, followed by Obama blaming it all on a Coptic American video.) I think this was an interesting interpretation, but I've read others (more in keeping with a notion of "communal responsibility"). One interpretation is about what happens when "insiders become outsiders." (Ie, one betrays commandments with disastrous, communal results.)

          • JacksonPearson

If I may. The republican party are just humans, like you and I. Life on earth is very short and temporary, whereas eternity is forever. So stick with the Word of God: "Those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed"…and I with the words of Jesus: “I am the way the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me.”

Israelis and Christians go up down, sideways and many go the wrong way. In the end though, according to scripture, there's going to be spankings, but I don't believe God will welsh on his covenant with the Jewish people that believe, nor likewise Jesus with Christians. In short, don't let anyone wrestle away your faith.

          • Roger

I am an Evangelical Christian, I'll say that up front. I believe in "Sola Scriptura" and I hope that's the perspective you are asking about. I normally don't go into 'doctrine' since every church has their own on last day events and the nature of God.

There is a book that will make you think, and answer the questions you just ask.
"The Great Controversy" by EGWhite. You don't need to read the entire book, just the last several chapters. You may not agree with it, but she lists many texts that deal with those things and you can go from there.

          • WildJew

The Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament) is something Jews and Christians have in common. Let's call it our Judeo-Christian heritage. If you believe in Sola Scriptura then you believe everything we need to know is right there in the Bible. No offense intended but why do we need to read EG White if the answers are in the Bible? The Bible is what I go to in order to understand what is happening in our times. If the Republicans were doing what is good and right in God's sight, why are we being defeated and routed by an evil president and an evil party? If Mitt Romney is a man of integrity who walks uprightly before the LORD, why did Obama defeat him? I refuse to believe the mantra that "God is in control" and it's all God's plan. How is that any different from all the superstitious ideas I read in Jewish history wherein many of the rabbis tried to explain or atone for God's judgment? It is all right there in the words of Moses. Why cling to superstitious nonsense about some battle between good (God) and evil (the devil)?

          • Roger

You don't need to.But why would I lay out much of what she laid out when she's better at it than I am?If she agrees and uses the Bible then it's something to consider. If not, I wouldn't have suggested that book, and only that part of her book.

          • JacksonPearson

Ellen G. White appears to have been a very prolific writer, and true to heart Christian. I've downloaded a pile of her writings, but I just haven't had the time to read it yet.

          • Roger

I haven't read much of her works. I read them for the Bible texts she uses then match up what she says to the Bible.

          • JacksonPearson

There's a web site dedicated to her works….
I have downloaded and have archived gigabytes on Christian writings.

One of my favorite short stories are the "Seven Sorrows of Mary." It's a shorter and different version of the "Way of the Cross," that expresses the Blessed Mother's sorrows of events that occurred at that point in time that Jesus faced from prophecy at birth, crucifixion, resurrection, and his ascension. There's so much interesting Biblical history, and human meaning to grasp in those seven events.

e..g., In the Sixth Sorrow, when Jesus was finally removed from the cross, and placed in the waiting arms and lap of the Blessed Mother. That scene, inspired Michaleangelo to do the Pietà (1498–1499). It's a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti, housed in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.

It would be very difficult to imagine any mother or parent helplessly watching their sinless offspring going through such a brutal trial, with the final outcome of being crucified.

Being a freind of Israel is a GOOD thing . However that position does not give one a free pass to acting like a lunatic , making ludicrous announcements on a number of other issues , and going on a ludicrous witchunt , which btw fell flat on its face . That "change in mentality " Suzanne , is for the Republican party to rid itself of Tea Party loons like Bachmann , West , Murdock , Aiken and Wilson . Colin Powell was dead on target yesterday regarding the Republican Party .

    • Roger

Oh slider, what troll are you hiding under a guest comment?

Michelle was marked from the day she tried to force Boehner into defunding Obamacare and lost.

The RNC wouldn't allow a dime to help her get reelected against a formidable liberal opponent that outspent her. They want her gone just as badly as West who they jerrymandered out of a district and ignored as he was pummeled and outspent.

You are a propagandist but it isn't selling here.

      • WildJew

Thanks for posting this link. I knew Bachmann was trying to defund Obamacare. I was not aware of the extent and the reason for the opposition on the part of the House leadership, Boehner, Cantor, et al. They want to continue "negotiating" with Obama?

“There is no way we can include their [Bachmann and King’s] amendment; it would just bog us down and undercut the leadership goal of getting real cutting done through negotiations with Democrats and the White House,” says a leadership aide, sticking to talking points generated out of Cantor’s office after Tuesday’s vote in the House to extend funding for government through early April.

Boehner is destroying what is left of the Republican party.

        • Roger

Isn't it cute that Bohner pretends what he does is 'negotiation'?

          • Jim_C

You'd think such an "incompetent" speaker would have received less than the 220 votes he did. Could it be he actually takes his job as a congressman seriously, balancing the need to negotiate with a powerful opposition with the unreasonable opinions of the cranks in the public his own party represents?

          • Roger

We really ought to start a committee and send letters to every single state rep from Ohio on the RINO side of the Isle and ask them to challenge Boehner in the primary.

That state can do better, the country needs better and I demand better or I will keep mocking him with every post. What can he do, he's a crybaby.

How can you claim that Rep. Bachmann's "being a friend of Israel is a good thing;" while in the very next sentence you say her "position does not give one a free pass to acting like a lunatic…?" The Muslim Brotherhood is violently hostile to the U.S. and Israel, and there's been strong evidence to show that the MB has penetrated the highest levels of the U.S. government. Therefore, Rep. Bachmann's calls for investigations into this penetration are entirely consistent with "being a friend of Israel." WHAT don't you understand? By the way, "freind" is spelled F-R-I-E-N-D.

As usual, the Left has no credible charges against Bachmann. They have a complicit media that echoes the chorus of lies they smear her with, and the American people fall for it, over and over.

If the majority of people had the brains God gave a goose, they would see the obvious pattern in the Left's endless smearing of stalwarts like Bachmann. Any effective, feisty leader on the right is targeted for character assassination. Anyone who defends the constitution and the rule of law is smeared relentlessly. The more of a threat they are to the communists, the greater the attacks. The more honest a person is, the more that their truth is obscured with orchestrated lies. it should be easy to spot, but too many people are in a brain-dead fog, blithely stumbling along in their self-indulgent stupor, oblivious to the catastrophic loss they will soon experience.

I cannot emphasize this enough. The following (watch) is why Obama is routing the Republicans. This is why Obama is having his way. This is why Obama will bankrupt America. It is not radical People For the American Way that is the biggest threat. It is our side:

  • Marty

Any friend or supporter of Israel cannot have any confidence in the current administration. It's foreign policy is one of appeasement and cowardice and essentially consists of apologizing to terrorists and their sponsors (iran and saudi arabia) because they hate us. The administration wrongly and tragically believes it can "engage" or buy off the inbred genocidal sociopaths who want us dead or enslaved. islam is the same as communism and fascism – it can't be placated or satisfied let alone tolerant. islam can only be destroyed before it achieves its goal of destroying western civilization.

  • Mark Koenig

God bless you, Caroline – for your tireless efforts to expose and publicize the Obama administration's outright hostility to Israel (from the time of his first campaign) and for joining the effort to defend Michele Bachmann. She is indeed a very courageous and heroic woman for standing firm on her principles and calling out these Muslim Brotherhood operatives. The mainstream media in the U.S. won't touch this story, and prefers to tacitly give credence to Senator McCain's version of the story. John Boehner is a disgrace, and ought to be thrown out of his leadership position, but unfortunately we have a majority of eunuchs in the Republican Party who do not have the fortitude to oust him. I pray for Israel and the U.S.

  • Alex Kovnat

I wish Michelle B. all the best in her political career. I hope DHFC will stand up for her right to speak on college campuses to all who are willing to listen, without fear of being assaulted or shouted down by intolerant leftists.

I don't agree with her on one issue, to-wit her advocacy of gasoline at no more than $2. per gallon. I am not convinced cheap motor fuel will solve our problems, unless it can be proven that carbon dioxide buildup in our atmosphere is not a problem. But I do like the way she supports Israel and on the whole, offers an alternative to Obama's school of thought. We need more women (and men) like her.

    • objectivefactsmatter

"I don't agree with her on one issue, to-wit her advocacy of gasoline at no more than $2. per gallon. I am not convinced cheap motor fuel will solve our problems, unless it can be proven that carbon dioxide buildup in our atmosphere is not a problem."

Fair enough because there are better reasons anyway to taper our dependency off of oil. It would be great if we could devalue it globally. Maybe that's what she had in mind, reducing demand to the point that the prices fall, and OPEC is weakened or utterly destroyed.

That's what I had in mind myself.

  • Bob Gard

Bachmann received an offer of a complimentary copy of my eBook that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Obama is an unconstitutional president. She did not respond. I sent a multitude of complimentary copies to many conservatives that have confronted me too with a wall of silence. See for yourselves at I have no sympathy for conservatives afraid of political correctness such that they embrace willful ignorance. What could be more effective than re-educating the electorate to American history that proves the real meaning of the presidential eligibility clause in the U.S. Constitution?

  • Kevin O.

What about those of us who believe there are multiple gods and one very jealous god? I mean it would stand to reason such a jealous god would, of course, create very jealous people with their own agendas. But what of us who could give a rat's ass about mortal concerns (regarding whose god is the right god) and focus on family and immediate community only?

    • objectivefactsmatter

"What about those of us who believe there are multiple gods and one very jealous god? I mean it would stand to reason such a jealous god would, of course, create very jealous people with their own agendas."

"But what of us who could give a rat's ass about mortal concerns (regarding whose god is the right god) and focus on family and immediate community only?"

Today the issues about Islam are directly connected with your life on earth. If the Bible is right, you need to know for the sake of your afterlife and your family today. It's not about a purely theoretical discussion. People kill every day, practically every hour someone is killed in the name of jihad for allah.

      See my point?

  • Jim_C

Well, I don't know that Bachmann is being targeted because of her support for Israel. There are very few on Capitol Hill who don't support Israel. If Chuck Hagel is the watermark for "lack of support" for Israel, Israel's got nothing to worry about on Capitol Hill.

I think it's more that she's a kind of a kook. Mind you, she is an elected kook. As a liberal, naturally I believe she crosses the kook line, but then, the Republican establishment agrees with me, which is why other kooky people rail against their elected leaders, and like her. I get it.

There's also the sense that Bachmann is learning on the job. Walsh and West's mouths kept them from re-election. But Bachmann has more class than those two.

    • Drakken

Of course you liberal/progressives think Backmann is a kook, it goes against everything you liberal/progressives live and breath, your communist doctrine is like religion for you. Like Bachman we, teabaggers and all, have to stand up and be counted. As well as stand behind those who are as courageous Bachman.

Like a German, who didn’t know what was happening to other people, the Jews, is condemned by Sophie Schott who was killed for trying to inform them. We’re also condemned by what is happening in the world if we don’t try to alert others to the reality it entails even if informing them means our own death.

Since our own death is not being threatened— presently— we have absolutely no excuse not to try to inform people of what they are blind to—presently— because what they don’t know will certainly, without question harm them.

Being constrained by Political Correctness is a pitiful excuse not to actively fight against what is happening to America. And being concerned about what others think is just plain silly. So in your blind ignorance, the root word for ignorance is ignore, teabag away Slider you have no weapon to stop us—yet. And even if you do get one the truth will out.

So God save Bachman and others like her as we try to do His will on this evil earth.
