Anti-Gun Newspaper that Outed Gun Owners Forced to Hire Armed Guards

There are few sure things in life, except that the sun must rise and set, cats must yowl when the moon is full and gun controllers must condemn guns and then hide behind them.

The crybabies at the The Journal News, after making public the names and locations of legal gun owners, many of them active or former law enforcement personnel, panicked at all the criticism and decided to turn to the gun.

A Clarkstown police report issued on December 28, 2012, confirmed that The Journal News has hired armed security guards from New City-based RGA Investigations and that they are manning the newspaper’s Rockland County headquarters at 1 Crosfield Ave., West Nyack, through at least tomorrow, Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

According to police reports on public record, Journal News Rockland Editor Caryn A. McBride was alarmed by the volume of “negative correspondence,” namely an avalanche of phone calls and emails to the Journal News office, following the newspaper’s publishing of a map of all pistol permit holders in Rockland and Westchester.

Poor dears. Were there any actual death threats? Nope.

McBride had filed at least two reports with the Clarkstown Police Department due to perceived threats. However, the police did not find the communications in question actually threatening.

So Caryn McBride, after exposing legal gun owners to danger, panicked, even though the police saw no problem, and decided to outsource the gun ownership thing to… hired guns.

But the right to defend yourself with a firearm should, according to the Journal News and Caryn McBride, be limited to those who can afford to hire armed guards.

Is that what the Founders had in mind? Is that how a fair and just society runs? I don’t think so.

UPDATE: Meanwhile the Journal News’ Jihad against gun owners ran into a roadblock. An ethical government official.

Putnam County Clerk Dennis Sant said he would defy a request for information about pistol permit holders from the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, which has come under criticism for publishing thousands of such identities already.

“There is the rule of law, and there is right and wrong and the Journal News is clearly wrong,” Sant said in a statement. “I could not live with myself if one Putnam pistol permit holder was put in harm’s way, for the sole purpose of selling newspapers.”
