Anti-Israel Protest Breaks Down into Pro-Assad and Anti-Assad Brawl

It’s a real shame when Muslims can’t even put their differences aside long enough to join together and call for the destruction of Israel.

And saddest of all, Al Jazeera, Qatar’s regime propaganda channel, appears to be hardest hit by the inability of the protesters to focus on killing the Jews, rather than killing each other.

Welcome to Land Day. The annual anti-Israel protest… in Israel.

A scuffle broke out Saturday during a Land Day procession in Sakhnin. Several dozen protesters who support Syrian President Bashar Assad assaulted an Al-Jazeera reporter and his crew.

The rioters hurled water bottles at the journalists claiming they were fabricating reports about the situation in Syria. The scuffle quickly spread to include other protesters.

In Sakhnin, demonstrators — among them Arab Israeli MKs — waved both Palestinian flags and Syrian flags as they marched through the city, and some openly demonstrated in support of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime.

At some point, pro-Assad protesters attacked an Al Jazeera reporter who was present at the scene, saying they resented the news network’s portrayal of the conflict in Syria. Other demonstrators tried to defend the reporter, and a brawl ensued, injuring three — among them an Israeli reporter. Women and children returned to their homes as MKs attempted to break up the violence.

Al Jazeera Arabic reporter Elias Karam and his crew was chased by a crowd of supporters of Syrian President Bashar Assad at the Land Day protest in Sakhnin in the Galilee on Saturday. Karam took cover in a local restaurant until he was able to be spirited out shortly after.

Both while the reporter was inside the restaurant and afterwards, scuffles broke out between pro-regime and anti-Assad groups, with some beating each other with sticks.

At the end of the rally, Sakhnin Mayor Mazen Ghanaem called on the rival Palestinian factions in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to unite and establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Yes, good luck with that when you can’t even get through a single anti-Israel rally.
