Bloomberg’s Anti-Gun Group Imploding as 50 Mayors Leave

Between the 50 mayors who have checked out of Hotel Bloomberg, some of whom were arrested, one for demanding gay sex at gunpoint, the number of people in the control freak mayor’s boutique anti-gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, run with pilfered city resources, is dropping.

Not helping matters was Bloomberg’s declaration of war on Southern Democrats and even gun-control Republicans who didn’t hew to his exacting standards. And so Napoleon IV is watching his little empire of attack ads coming apart.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group Mayors Against Illegal Guns is finding it hard to keep its membership up, thanks to dozens of resignations and lost elections over the last few months.

Worse for Bloomberg, who has become one of the faces of the gun control movement: the people replacing his lost comrades aren’t particularly eager to sign up with the organization, a rare group battling in the trenches against the well-organized and deep-pocketed National Rifle Association. Some appear not quite to have signed on for that level of political heat.

“The original focus, I thought, was going to be on focusing on better on enforcement of our existing laws, and if anything, we have talked about not getting involved with things like banning assault weapons and banning magazine clips,” said Rockford, Il. Mayor Lawrence Morrissey, who left the group in June because, he said at a town hall meeting, the group had veered from what he originally thought it was about.

The name Mayors Against Illegal Guns was quite misleading. Mayors Against Guns would have been more accurate. But the group’s fatal flaw was letting Bloomberg, an unpopular man even in his own city, become their public face.

According to an old version of its member list, saved on a blog dated back to late February, more than 50 mayors who were then listed on MAIG’s website are no longer there. Most of the mayors whose names are no longer affiliated with the group are off the list either because they resigned or lost an election, but others have specifically asked to be removed.

Meanwhile the Mayors Against Illegal Guns website, which is run using stolen city resources, hasn’t been updated since April. Not exactly promising for a group that promised to destroy the NRA and transform America.

The final message from the doomed group closes by stating. “In 2014, our ever-expanding coalition of supporters will work to make sure that voters don’t forget.”

It’s been two months.

Gun control is a loser nearly everywhere. By all means, let’s have more of this. Bloomie isn’t through taking his lumps yet.

Let him waste more of his money, and now that of his city, watch it go bankrupt like Detroit !!…..

  • VL123

    haha….good bye leftists.

  • objectivefactsmatter

Leftist lunacy about the Martin Zimmerman case of course exploits their class warfare positions and attacks guns in a case that appears to the logical person to argue against both of these key dogmas of the left. In other words they’d be better served to let people forget about the case, but now people are questioning their sanity on supposed ubiquitous white supremacy racism and the notion that guns are useless when being attacked. Here’s a case study that shows the left is more or less insane about both.

It’s hard right now for a politician to come right out and say that. But maybe some of these guys are smarter politically than they seemed when they signed up with Bloomberg.

    Good “F” him!!

  • Tina Trent

Bloomberg may be the only person qualified at this point to assume the empty mayoral chair in Detroit.

What other city is better suited for the superannuated talents of Supervisor #28?

  • skidpunisher

That’s right goonberg help us remember how corrupt politicians like you have violated our 2nd amendment rights come election time. But were not going to forget anyway!!!%

    • Diamondback

      Our 2nd Amendment PROTECTED rights.

Fact is, they can repeal the 2nd Amendment, and it does not affect the fact that we still have the right to keep and bear arms for defense of self, others and property.

The right is PROTECTED by the 2nd Amendment. It does not “grant” the right.

      Words matter.

  • Roger Waters

Time to keep up the heat. To the NRA – another donation from me is inbound. Keep up the good work guys! Love that organization and I canny my card proudly.

    • Diamondback

Don’t forget the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF). They’ve actually done more to protect gun rights via the courts than the NRA. Hell, the NRA (of which I am a member and have been most of my adult life) still supports requiring citizens to apply for permits to carry concealed.

It’s time the NRA gets on board with CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY across the land.

The more Bloomberg goes on his rants about gun control the better it is for us. He is pi$$ing off so many people around the country that the more he whines and rants the more people ignore him and want him to stop trying to tell them what to do all over the country. Keep up the good work Bloomberg, the more you rally against guns the more people go out and buy their first gun!!!

Bloomberg who has become a political dictator(which the mayors realize) and even hated by his own constituents here in NYC, has now learned a valuable lesson about his wealth. That his money cannot by everything and by being corrupt, the people will see right through your agenda. He is the WORST mayor NYC has ever elected, focusing on gun and abandoning the middle class, working poor and small business owners. Incumbent Quinn who is the mirror image of him, and who is trying to get elected as mayor will keep all his policies in place , if elected…People of NYC of tired of both of the same corrupt officials and need to move forward. The clueless voters need to stop watching the media and pay attention to what corrupt officials are doing.

Yeah, right. NYers are so damn apathetic that lil kikey shouldn’t even be in office. He had his two terms and the lazy, apathetic city dwellers are getting their just desserts for letting him break the law and govern for a third term, I have no pity for their apathy.

      • Luis

Actually, Bloomberg is on his 3rd term – he was able to convince New Yorkers to amend the city charter, to allow him to run for a 3rd term. His opponent last time out was a nondescript black man, so mindful of David Dinkins’ regime, they re-elected Bloomberg.

You’re correct about New Yorkers’ indifference – heck they don’t even care enough to repeal the Sullivan Act- a criminal act of law that was promulgated by the Tammany Hall crowd in the early 20th century. They also swallowed John V. Lindsay’s lies about how guns would never be registered in New York City, circa 1967.

  • Pops

“Gay sex at gunpoint”, “mayors arrested” and these are supposed leaders of our communities. How outrageous that these pieces of excrement live off the government teat because they are so sorry that is the only work they can get is to be professional criminals posing as politicians. This is proof that the majority of Americans are dumb a$$ dipsticks that vote for those with the biggest promises. Off with their heads!

  • Don Gwinn

They can’t switch to Mayors Against Guns. The Massad Ayoob Group will sue and deny them the use of “MAG.”

    • ProudlyUnaffiliated

And it would be a low capacity MAG to boot…

  • TopCat_Texas

Glade to hear it. I am tired of groups claiming criminals as victims of gun violence.

  • Steve Adcock

MAIG can blame the NRA all they want in an attempt to make it look like only a large, well-funded machine can defeat them. They can’t keep their ranks up because what they advocate not only removes the second amendment from the American people, but the laws are demonstrably ineffectual. Run by the mayor of one of the most crime-ridden cities in the entire country, the group’s own leadership does not exactly give off the impression that they are led by another other than lucrative political motivations.

    • Luis

Steve, it’s not just Bloomberg alone. MAIG was co-founded by him and Boston mayor Thomas “Mumbles” Mennino, who earlier this year, all but made Boston in a police state, by ordering people to stay indoors, while his Stasi hunted for a 19-year-old terrorist. There are well-documented instances of the Boston Stasi breaking into homes illegally. What shocked me is that most Bostonians didn’t seem to mind.

Here’s the capper: While solemnly reading aloud a list of “gun violence” victims at one of their bus-tour stops, MAIG read out the name of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the cop-killing brother of the terrorist at the Boston marathon bombing.

  • Larry Baty

Why say a Mayor was arrested for that crime and not say which mayor it was?

  • Joel

Woot!! Later you fascist control freak fucks. Down with MAIG!

  • Kurt Cook

rats jump from a sinking ship

  • Greg Mcandrew

The NRA is as American as apple pie. Bloomberg is a spoiled brat that wants to inflict his will on freedom loving Americans, even people that can’t vote his nanny ass out

  • aRareSaneOne

May all you money soon be gone, wasted away, Bloomberging Idiot

  • GA Patriot

They should change the name to Mayors Against Legal Guns. It fits better.

    • Diamondback

Especially since there’s no such thing as an “illegal gun” in America.

Before you argue, please refer to page 8 of the Supreme Court opinion in Heller v. D.C., approx. 2/3 down the page, where it plainly states:

“… the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding.”

And, yes, that includes shoulder-fired grenade and missile launchers, fully automatic machine guns, RPGs, et. al. Every current restriction (aka as “infringement”) on the books in blatantly UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

    • no_tubes

Dude, you Caps Lock button is stuck.

    • Biff Sarin

Ironically, he IS leaving. New York has many ‘well qualified’ replacements currently jockeying for his vacated seat…including the that pillar of moral standards, Anthony Weiner.

      • robertsgunshop

And if the people of NYC elect Weiner, they deserve him.

  • ProudlyUnaffiliated

Good. What is kind of nice about this list is it makes for easy targeting come election time. Go ahead gun grabbers, sign up with Bloomberg and tell us who you are!

  • Gunny G Alz

Bloombutt and a whole bunch of other libs need to drop dead. The sooner the better.

  • casca conner

What, I suggest and do – is to write or email and request all literature , signs,
shirts what ever you can get . The more the MERRIER. THEN THROW EM AWAY. Help drain their resources one NICKLE @ a time.

  • DoubleTap45

They were told this time it was “different” and they could screw us all on the 2nd Amendment with no consequences. Hee hee heee HA HA!!!!
