China Burns Coal Faster Than Obama Can Close American Coal Plants

But this isn’t much of an issue because the environmentalist movement is a subset of the left and its goal isn’t really to stop the earth from freezing/burning up because of industrial production, but to stop industrial production in the Western world to overthrow what they consider to be capitalism and imperialism.

Obama and the Western left have gone to war against coal, and coal consumption in the West has indeed dropped. But that doesn’t matter much on a global scale.

China now accounts for  almost as much coal as the rest of the world combined. As it continues to industrialize, that number will only increase. Obama’s attack on American coal is more than futile when you consider that an 87 percent increase in global coal consumption in 2011 was largely due to the industries of the People’s Republic of China.

While environmentalists talk about China going Green, for PRC isn’t environmentalist, rather it’s utilitarian. Its position on energy is practical. Pollution is not a significant issue for PRC leaders. Nor is Global Warming. What considers China is not becoming too dependent on any single energy source so as to limit the economic damage caused by energy market volatility, disasters and conflicts. So no matter how many windmills China puts up, it will still go on using coal. And there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it.

But the environmentalists aren’t really interested in stopping China. Their goal is to stop America.

China doesn't give a Marxist-Rats-Butt about what they have to do to keep their economy humming…They use the dirtiest of coal, pollution, pay for nothing slave, child, or criminal labor. Likewise, it makes no difference to Americans, as long as the container cargo ships of cheap products keeps coming!

In the long haul, as a nation, we're shooting our selves in foot. Because we don't create or manufacture anymore, we buy to many products from foreign countries, then borrow monies from the same countries to raise our spending debt ceiling. We then allow the same foreign countries to come into the United States and purchase land, resources, and businesses. It's a stupid recipe for sovereignty disaster.

"A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader." –Samuel Adams, letter to James Warren, February 12, 1779

This was the strategy developed by the Soviet schemers. The true-believer leftists think it's "racist" to expect "others" to "pay the burden" of environmentalism because it was "Western colonialism" that caused it all.

    Oh yes. They're crazy too.

and now that they have layed a hurting on the US (I live in anthracite region of PA and it's dead, miners are hurting)

they will go after natural gas.

What's hurt coal mining in PA is cheap US natural gas. Alot of generators have switched from
coal to methane so naturally demand for coal is down. But, if you can hold out a few years, the price of methane is bound to rebound back above coal. The gas companies are losing their shirts at $3 per thousand cubic feet, but the CEOs are not letting on, because they want to keep collecting their salaries.

It's like playing chess, China is a grand master who thinks ten steps ahead, but DC politicians and environmentalists are like novices players who always feel their last movement was guilty of something and actually come up with an idea to make it worse.

    Beijing's air was off-the-charts horrible recently. http://www.economist.com/blogs/analects/2013/01/b

I Agree. Furthermore the most anybody can do anywhere is slow it down a ridiculously tiny bit. I may cut way back on my own carbon footprint, but the effect is only to lower the price of fossil fuels which means somebody else uses more of it. But, I also think that the greenhouse effect and acidification of the oceans are real. These are the denouement of thousands of years of human pillaging. Ten thousand years ago we wiped out the woolly mammoths and we've never looked back. The oceans used to teem with life. What we see now and think normal is a briny wasteland compared to several hundred years ago. Didn't God say something about making us stewards of the natural world?

And God saith, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over fish of the sea, and over fowl of the heavens, and over cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that is creeping on the earth.'
I'm wrong if "ruling over" allows for destroying as side effect of our pursuit of happiness.
