And God saith, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over fish of the sea, and over fowl of the heavens, and over cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that is creeping on the earth.'
I'm wrong if "ruling over" allows for destroying as side effect of our pursuit of happiness.

What's hurt coal mining in PA is cheap US natural gas. Alot of generators have switched from
coal to methane so naturally demand for coal is down. But, if you can hold out a few years, the price of methane is bound to rebound back above coal. The gas companies are losing their shirts at $3 per thousand cubic feet, but the CEOs are not letting on, because they want to keep collecting their salaries.

I Agree. Furthermore the most anybody can do anywhere is slow it down a ridiculously tiny bit. I may cut way back on my own carbon footprint, but the effect is only to lower the price of fossil fuels which means somebody else uses more of it. But, I also think that the greenhouse effect and acidification of the oceans are real. These are the denouement of thousands of years of human pillaging. Ten thousand years ago we wiped out the woolly mammoths and we've never looked back. The oceans used to teem with life. What we see now and think normal is a briny wasteland compared to several hundred years ago. Didn't God say something about making us stewards of the natural world?

"But this isn’t much of an issue because the environmentalist movement is a subset of the left and its goal isn’t really to stop the earth from freezing/burning up because of industrial production, but to stop industrial production in the Western world to overthrow what they consider to be capitalism and imperialism."

This was the strategy developed by the Soviet schemers. The true-believer leftists think it's "racist" to expect "others" to "pay the burden" of environmentalism because it was "Western colonialism" that caused it all.

Oh yes. They're crazy too.

China doesn't give a Marxist-Rats-Butt about what they have to do to keep their economy humming...They use the dirtiest of coal, pollution, pay for nothing slave, child, or criminal labor. Likewise, it makes no difference to Americans, as long as the container cargo ships of cheap products keeps coming!

In the long haul, as a nation, we're shooting our selves in foot. Because we don't create or manufacture anymore, we buy to many products from foreign countries, then borrow monies from the same countries to raise our spending debt ceiling. We then allow the same foreign countries to come into the United States and purchase land, resources, and businesses. It's a stupid recipe for sovereignty disaster.

<i>"A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."</i> --Samuel Adams, letter to James Warren, February 12, 1779
