I know that a lot of our readers are dissatisfied with the pace of the investigation into Benghazigate, but the ability to get answers largely depends on cooperation from uncooperative agencies in the government or from whistleblowers willing to defy Obama Inc’s notorious pursuit of whistleblowers in order to tell the truth.

The latter avenue may finally be opening up as a number of CIA and State Department personnel appear to be ready to come forward.

At least four career officials at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency have retained lawyers or are in the process of doing so, as they prepare to provide sensitive information about the Benghazi attacks to Congress, Fox News has learned.

Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and Republican counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, is now representing one of the State Department employees. She told Fox News her client and some of the others, who consider themselves whistle-blowers, have been threatened by unnamed Obama administration officials.

“I’m not talking generally, I’m talking specifically about Benghazi – that people have been threatened,” Toensing said in an interview Monday. “And not just the State Department. People have been threatened at the CIA.”

Toensing declined to name her client. She also refused to say whether the individual was on the ground in Benghazi on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, when terrorist attacks on two U.S. installations in the Libyan city killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.

However, Toensing disclosed that her client has pertinent information on all three time periods investigators consider relevant to the attacks: the months that led up to the attack, when pleas by the ambassador and his staff for enhanced security in Benghazi were mostly rejected by senior officers at the State Department; the eight-hour time frame in which the attacks unfolded, and the eight-day period that followed the attacks, when Obama administration officials incorrectly described them as the result of a spontaneous protest over a video.

“It’s frightening, and they’re doing some very despicable threats to people,” she said. “Not ‘we’re going to kill you,’ or not ‘we’re going to prosecute you tomorrow,’ but they’re taking career people and making them well aware that their careers will be over [if they cooperate with congressional investigators].”

Federal law provides explicit protections for federal government employees who are identified as “whistle-blowers.” The laws aim to ensure these individuals will not face repercussions from their superiors, or from other quarters, in retaliation for their provision of information about corruption or other forms of wrongdoing to Congress, or to an agency’s inspector-general.

Unfortunately Obama has waged a ruthless war against whistleblowers as documented even by left-wing outlets such as The Nation and Mother Jones. That means that the people coming forward are going to need some basis for believing that they will be protected from retribution.

Threatening government employees over a national security matter. Doesn't that spell T-R-E-A-S-O-N?

      No, it spells T-Y-R-A-N-N-Y

But they can't prosecute someone for tyranny.

The lives of our U.S. Ambassador and their courageous rescuers' were considered expendable by Obama and Clinton. It was considered acceptable to ALLOW them to suffer horrific deaths at the hands of Muslim infidel-haters.

It is a lesson to every American Ambassador that their lives and the lives of ALL other Americans are considered expendable.

WHY are we in Afghanistan? Why did we go to war in Iraq? The reasons have NOTHING whatsoever to do with freedom and democracy or protecting America.

How dim the light that America once was has become. The light is almost gone now.

    • Parenthetical Phrase

How true! Our republic has now become a thugocracy. Frightening.

    • Snow White

We are at war in Afghanistan because our President thinks he is so smart he can accomplish what the English, French and Russians failed to do there, Tame the natives. The people there obviously like living in the stone age and being oppressed by religious fanatics. George Bush knew that war in Afghanistan was not feasible so he moved the war to Iraq, where our war machine would be superior and to draw the jihadists out of hiding onto friendlier territory. In other words. He knew he couldn't take the Mountain (war) to Mohammed, so he brought Mohammed to the mountain.

      • Damaged Circuit

The American government went to war in Afghanistan for the same reasons as the English, French and Russians. To control trillions in heroin trafficking. CIA created and continues to control Al-Qaeda.

We are in Afghanistan because of the terrorist attacks on 9111. The original mission was to capturekill Osama Bin Laden.
Your real question should be, Why are we "still" in Afghanistan?

It appears that … other than FOX … Obama controls the other major networks.

And has before the 08 election or – at least the left has. Unbelievable to me that the public consists of so many millions of dupes who still believe what they see on the Networks, NPR and CNN is news and not propaganda.
But, then, people are wrapped up in their daily lives and busy (as am I) and many are just stupid.

There is a word that can be applied to just about everything this administration does. It is a word that will resonate with large numbers of Americans. It should be repeated at every opportunity with respect to OBAMA and his goons: BETRAYAL

Censorship, intimidation of opponents, bribe of gullible people, on and on… It is totalitarian system. As one of Founding Fathers said that if government afraid people it is democracy, if people afraid government it is tyranny. Our Pres. "Mr. Big Liar" with his deleted past is Traitor #1. The Shadow party is winning. People afraid to talk openly to each other as they already live under communists. Where is American "Margaret Thatcher"? Country need leader who organize us to stop our country destruction

  • ElizabethMC

If this attack had happened under Bush, whistleblowers would have come forward free from persecution and with support from the media.

  • SoCalMike

The Republicans should have ASSUMED all of this but they are cowards hiding for calls for an investigation the way they ran for cover under Monica Lewinsky’s skirt when Capo Clinton sold us out to China.

The most shocking aspect of this according to me, is there´s still some patriotic government workers. I´m not taking either position at this point, but it is good to keep in mind words and their meanings.
