Daily Beast Blames Israel for Muslim Persecution of Christians

Muslims not to blame. Evangelical Christians and Jews on the other hand...

Muslims not to blame. Evangelical Christians and Jews on the other hand…

Diarmaid MacCulloch’s crazy attack isn’t even part of the Daily Beast’s “Open Zion” series of Anti-Israel blogs. Instead it’s a bizarre one-off claim that the reason that the West doesn’t care about the persecution of Christians is because Evangelical Christians are too interested in Israel.

There are a number of obvious things wrong with Diarmaid MacCulloch’s thesis.

1. It’s Liberal Christians who are ignoring the plight of Christians in the Middle East. And it is a liberal administration backed by liberal Christians that has significantly worsened their plight.

2. Conservative Evangelical Christians are about the only ones really interested in the plight of Christians in the Middle East

Diarmaid MacCulloch knows his thesis is nonsense, which is why dances from premise to premise leaving a huge gap in the middle. After writing briefly about the plight of Christians, he skips over to the usual “Evangelical Christians are just waiting for Armageddon” rant without really connecting it to his premise.

MacCulloch admits that the relationship between the United States and Israel is largely built on Realpolitik. And realpolitik is the same reason why the United States has mostly overlooked the plight of Middle Eastern Christians.

“Christians are scapegoated for their faith by an extremist militant minority of Muslims, who betray their own religion by intolerance, and who make other Muslims ashamed of what is happening,” Diarmaid MacCulloch writes.

But if that’s really so, then there wouldn’t be a problem. There are tiny militant minorities everywhere. Ethnic cleansing on this scale requires something far more than that and Diarmaid MacCulloch knows it. It requires either the participation or complicity of the majority population.

“I find most frustrating is precisely the lack of noise from Western Christians about the fate of ancient Christianities in the Middle East. At the heart of the problems in the Middle East is seven decades of unresolved conflict between Israel and Palestine,” MacCulloch writes, but then never bothers trying to make a logical connection to prove it.

Instead he goes on into a melange of stereotypes about Evangelical Christians without ever showing that they are silent or that they are the problem.

The real silence however is on the part of the World Council of Churches, which loathes Israel and which like MacCulloch, panders to the Muslim persecutors of minorities in the Middle East.

Evangelical Christians don’t run foreign policy. And they don’t have much political influence outside the United States. Diarmaid MacCulloch isn’t breaking the silence, he’s perpetrating the silence by further victimizing the non-Muslim victims of Muslim persecution.

The West is obviously going through an advanced state of denial. Instead of recognizing the anti-human rights, anti-freedom, and anti-democracy aspects of Islam, there is a huge groundswell of pro-Islamic sympathy in the West, which will go to any extreme, however absurd, to exonerate and explain Muslim violence against non-Muslims, including Christians and Jews.

Under these circumstances, if Israel wants to survive long enough for the West to “wake up”, it must become economically and militarily independent without further delay. That means accelerating the development of her vast offshore natural gas reservoirs and putting the necessary technology in place to convert natural gas to diesel fuel and jet fuel in order to run her tanks and fly her jets in the event of a protracted war in the middle east, which we all know is inevitable.

We are at the 11th hour. If the West collapses financially in the near future, which seems almost a certainty, Israel will be left more or less on her own. Time is of the essence.

Maybe a fleet of Israeli ICBM capable submarines would change the minds of the apathetic, corrupt, amoral western assholes trying to sell out Israel to islam0nazis.

like any relationship where mates go their separate ways, there are at least four steps to the concrete realization that the next step must come…following the denial, anger, depression and finally the acceptance and hope…Israel will realize in their acceptance phase that there exists but one plausible and undeniable solution…their survival will depend on their ability or lack thereof to take a massive offensive move once and for all against their arch enemy.

the USA, the west is lost as a partner to Israel. Sad, but true.

“2. Conservative Evangelical Christians are about the only ones really interested in the plight of Christians in the Middle East”

Perhaps only true very recently and even then its spotty at best. Protestants have always had problems with other Christian sects that do not share their theological views. It wasn’t that long ago when most American Christians lacked any knowledge of significant Christian communities in the Islamic world, let alone care about their persecution.

Sadly enough, I’ve even seen posters to articles such as this one, opining that the Christians in these parts of the world are getting what they deserve for their heresy. As for lefty Christians (think Sharpton or Moore), their lack of compassion for the persecuted folk in the Islamic world is a feature of blind and rigid adherence to current PC thought, where Islam is always benign regardless of what the theology says or how it’s followers act.

This is nuts even members of the terrorist group the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt are really saying that the attacks on the Copts has been instigated by the cockamamie claim that the Copts are responsible for the June 30 coup against the criminal and terrorist Mohamed Morsi (and this is by the way the opinion of the Obama adminstration too)
And yes the Jews are always blamed in Egypt for any and every thing but the toppling of Moris and therefore the recent persecution of the Copts in Egypt is not one of them

    • defcon 4

It seems like Jews, sometime euphemized as Zionists, are always the convenient scapegoats for the failures of islam0fascist states and islam.

“Palestine” is not a country (but it is a geographic name for the Holy Land region). It is a fictional entity created by the Soviet Union. Had the Bolshevik Revolution failed, there would have been no “Palestinian” nation.

    • Moa

      Yep, see the following please:

The Invention of Palestine – How we Swallow The Lie

Even Yasser Arafat (and Egyptian, btw) admits that the invention of “Palestine” as a country is merely so Islamic Arab genocide of Jews can be carried out.

  • Gee

When Israel intervened to protect Christians in Lebanon, after the entire Christian community ignored the genocide against them, who was at the forefront to condemn Israel?

Why those exact same liberal Christians.

We are damned if do and damned if we don’t

The Holy Scriptures tell us that in the latter days, “those that kill us will think they do God a favor”, and, ” do not fear him who destroys your mortal body, but fear( have reverence for) Him who can destroy both Body and Soul”. The fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom. What is happening to Jews and Christians is the definition of the word martyr. We know those slaughtered by Islam are in a far better place than where we are now. Islam”s day of reckoning is fast approaching. As true Christians we love Israel and the Jewish people and are exorted to support them. Don’t any Democrats wonder at all why Obama is such a supporter of Islam with both American soldiers, cash etc., but won’t lift a finger to help protect indiginous Christian people in Muslim countries?

ISRAEL should nuke these muslim countries and solve this problem once and for all…..

    The fact is that the
Palestinian’s are a ‘RECENT INVENTION, as attested to by Fahti Hammad of Hamas,
who has many Video’s on the subject.

    Hamas Minister of the
Interior and of National Security Fathi Hammad Slams Egypt
    over Fuel Shortage in Gaza
    Strip, and Says:

    Hamas Minister of the

    Strip, and Says:

    “Half of the
Palestinians Are Egyptians and the Other Half Are Saudis”

    TV (Egypt)

Hamas official reveals where Palestinians came from

    “Half of the Palestinians
Are Egyptians and the Other Half Are Saudis”

    TV (Egypt)

Another of his Video’s brags about Hamas using their own people for
    Human Shields

If you should want to dispute what Fathi Hammad has said, please take
it up with him, since he said it

    Hamas trains future terrorists
in Kindergarten, several Videos are also on Youtube, showing their Gradation Classes as
    Terrorist’s of the future

    The basics:

There is no Palestinian culture, language, nor cuisine. There has never been a
    land called “Palestine”
    ruled by “Palestinians.”

(FYI, Philistines were Greek and they ate
pork. Delilah and Goliath were Philistines. Philistines died out.)

    There has never been a
Palestinian president or Prime Minister or government or military.

    This whole notion of
there being a Palestine is a recent and false
invention, based on lies and violence, with NO intention for peaceful
    co-existence with Israel,
or any other nation who won’t kowtow to them.

Since the 1880’s, it was the Jewish pioneers
who began to redeem the land, Israel,
    from wilderness.

Only thereafter, did the Arabs come from other
lands to benefit from what the Jews built and try to take it away from them. If
anyone really wants peace with Israel,
    they MUST recognize Israel’s
existence, and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which
it is. The fact that foreign governments, NCLUDING THE U.S., do not do so, ensures continued war by the
Arabs and the destruction of Israel.

    What makes you think
that Jews or Christian’s can live among
    Muslims ?

    Christian’s at prayer
in Iraq & Egypt have been attacked and killed while they were at prayer,
incinerated within their houses of worship

    Next time, before you
so ignorantly protest the Arabs living conditions,

    do a bit of research
of how Dhimmi’s are mandated to be treated the the Muslims, their status is
defined quite clearly, lower than dirt

“At the heart of the problem is 7 decades of unresolved conflict between Israel and Palestine”. Except that for 1340 years before the foundation of Israel, Muslims have been killing Christians and Jews at the same, or higher rates than today.

This is the problem with left wingers. They accuse us of oversimplifying things. They overcomplicate things. Israel existing or not existing would do nothing to stop Islamism. The problem lies with the Quran, not with Israel. Any attempt to somehow blame Israel for Muslim persecution of the Kafir ignores the hundred plus Quranic verses calling for violence against the kafir (9:5 as an example).

This attempt at overcomplication of the issue is disgusting. History shows us that by merely existing, non muslims are targets (9/11, Muslim conquest of India). They dont want to see the simple explanation, because the simple explanation is scary. The simple explanation is that Islamism is ingrained in the Quran, and it is an expansionist ideology that threatens our way of life. The complicated one involves some sort of tangent about the Crusades, Colonialism and Israel, as well as misrepresentation of Islam. It’s easier to blame ourselves than it is to blame others.

    • defcon 4

WHat muslimes have done to Hindus makes their persecution and murder of Jews and Christians look mild by comparison. It’s estimated some 80 million Hindus were murdered, enslaved or forcibly converted to islam in the Indian sub-continent with the latest addition to the body count being the ~2.5 million Hindus murdered by muslimes in Bangladesh in the 1970’s.

      • Jason

That’s why I mentioned the conquest of India. It is probably one of the least known major historical events. Even among Counterjihad circles it doesn’t get discussed much. It’s about time it does, it just goes to prove Islamism targets anyone and everyone, not just Christians and Jews.

  • Lanna

Well everyone should know that Satan has been after God’s people from the beginning of time…Satan will find any excuse to blame the Jews for anything, and that’s why America is hated too because we support Israel…Tough…We will support Israel to our last days on earth!

Daniel, this Diarrhea Maid is British born and raised. That is all I need to know. Hope the educated segments of the fish and chip gang enjoy being colonized by the sheer joy of Islam. I know I will.
