Who can forget the heroic sacrifices made by our congressmen and senators, the hours that they have spent downing drinks, sticking pork into bills and risking their lives in the dank and dangerous corridors of the Capitol Hill subway system.

We can’t ask our brave senators to take cuts. It must be those selfish greedy soldiers who should pay more. What they have they ever done for us?

It’s time for retired veterans to face cuts as the federal government looks for ways to trim expenditures, Sen. Chuck Schumer said Monday.

“Civilian federal employees have been cut, cut, cut. I think there was a feeling, if you’re going to cut them further, which was done, that the military retirees should have about an equal amount. It’s small,” the New York Democrat told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“I think (Rep.) Paul Ryan and (Sen.) Patty Murray looked everywhere they could to try and find compromise. Everybody had to take a little,” Schumer said.

“They’re going to have to pay a tiny, little bit into it, which they never have,” he added.

But Schumer maintained members of Congress should not be forced to take a pay cut. He said they have already sacrificed, since they have not seen a pay raise “in a long time,” and explained most of them are paying more for healthcare insurance.

“We have taken pretty big cuts,” he said.

They’re paying more for their healthcare because of a bill that they voted for. Most Americans are paying a good deal more.

Incidentally Senator Schumer’s worth is estimated at nearly a million dollars. It has gone up %79 since 2004. Few Americans could say the same.

Schumer is loathsome. His first windmill tilting crusade was against the Cereal Manufacturer’s Cartel.

He was lame then and he has not aged well.

I get by with Generic store brand from a supermarket that undersells Walmart. And no they don’t have plastic bags. It is a bring your own bag store or pay 4 cents for paper.

Schumer is ignorant. Always has been.

      I would say cynical.

          That he certainly is

      • Drakken

Cynical you say? I call it supreme arrogance of being in office way too long. Now I know why the Romans had a culling party every now and then.

Oh, poor man, he hasn’t had a pay raise! And he, like Obama and the rest of socialist left, believes in income equality for everyone but the governing elite. What a hypocrite!

of course he is right(sarc) Don’t you remember ANIMAL FARM where all pigs were equal but some were just more equal than others?

Senators should work for free, they should work at their home states full time and just come to Washington for legislative work. Cut money from the veterans, how low. Stop giving money to Muslim countries: building infrastructure for afghans, building orphanages in Georgia, south Russia and Armenia, create obamacare in Kenya.

Another solid reason to make sure we clean house in 2014. Get rid of these losers.

Schumer, the epiphany of leftist’s philosophy. Cut the minions. Need we expound on propensities?

  • timpottorff

This is why there is a hell.

Cut retirement benefits for soldiers who pursue a career in the service, and pass legislation that allows illegal immigrants to claim Child Care tax credits on their income taxes, and qualify for welfare benefits. On the same day.

Consequence: encourage the pigs who feed at the public trough and discourage those would spend their working lives willing to die for this country.

    Congress outdoes itself daily.

  • rbprice

My goodness, you, Senator Schumer have indeed suffered. Never have we met anyone with more troubles than you and your fellow criminals in the Congress. My heart weeps for you. (I hope that most people here can appreciate the sarcasm here.)

  • Habbgun

Chuck Schumer is a very dishonest man but an extraordinarily honest Democrat.

  • Drakken

The decadence and arrogance of these politicians never gets better does it? As a veteran I am absolutely outraged at what these fools in office have wrought upon this great Republic, if any of you think this is going to get better, you could not be more wrong. Heinlein had it right, only those who have served have the foresight and responsibility to be a citizen, wouldn’t the congress be extremely surprised if the veterans marched on the Capitol and purged these traitors amongst us?

  • antioli

Congress does not need a pay raise. As they serve in congress they accumulate much additional wealth because of their influence as congressmen.
They also can keep their health plan

  • worldwatchman

Mess with the best and you’ll pay for it you worthless politicians.

How about cutting the simple service pensions of those, like my little brother who hung it up at 54 with 30 years. The problem is a soldier knows how to work and can get a job after the military. but after 30 years of simple service they don’t even know what work is, having avoided it all their lives.

Somebody needs to put this man out of his misery. Preferably with an illegal [in his state] firearm.

I just created a petition for NC legislators requesting that they only receive the average salary for a NC resident…seems fair, right? check it out at http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/state-legislators-learn?source=c.em.cp&r_by=6853786
