Fake Mandela Interpreter also a Rapist, Murderer and Really Well Connected

The media is blaming this on incompetence. And sure South Africa is really badly run. Really, really badly run. But when a man gets a plum post and his police records vanish, there’s a much more obvious explanation.

Thamsanqa Jantjie is well-connected within the African National Congress.

Thamsanqa Jantjie, 34, was exposed as a fraud by experts after he signed “nonsense” during the four-hour ceremony as he stood next to a number of heads of state including US President Barack Obama.

Mr Jantjie, who has been treated for schizophrenia, was reportedly charged with murder in 2003, as well as rape in 1994, theft in 1995, breaking into a house in 1997, malicious damage to property in 1998, and attempted murder and kidnapping in 2003.

They report that Jantjie was acquitted on the rape charge, but he was convicted of theft for which he was sentenced to three years in prison. It is unclear whether he has ever served a jail sentence. It is thought many of the charges against him, the earliest of which dates back to 1994, were dropped as he was deemed unfit to stand trial.

Mr Jantjie was acquitted on the rape charge, but he was convicted of theft for which he was sentenced to three years in prison. It’s unclear if he ever spent time in jail.

Court records reveal that the 2003 murder, attempted murder and kidnapping case against Mr Jantjie and other people, was referred to the South Gauteng High Court in 2004. It was finalised in November 2006, but the court file for the case is empty.

The South African government says it is aware of reports that he once faced a murder charge.

I bet.

We’ve got a man who has been charged with some of the worst crimes possible (though rape is horrifyingly common in South Africa) whose records are rather empty, who doesn’t appear to have served any time in jail and who was given a job that he was completely unqualified for.

This is how the African National Congress really runs South Africa.

Contacted by The Daily Telegraph, Mr Jantjie declined to answer questions about his alleged criminal record and hung up. “I am an icon! I am an icon!” he said. “Why are you persecuting me? Leave me alone!”

The Secret Service trusted the South African government on screening.

To do otherwise would have been racist.

So if something had happened, whose fault would it have been?

    • O’Paque

      whitey’s fault

      • gestr

        or Bush’s.

  • SwitchedOnSavage

    I am an icon!” classic

  • O’Paque

    Add this to the mix:
“has been investigated for a R1.5 million fraud”
“had also worked for the justice department for four years.”

and then there’s the weird angle in that the article spends the most time droning on about “a language rights violation has been registered”

    • A Z

Of course they would spend an inordinate amount of time “language rights violation”. Most people will think no harm no foul. That will then form their whole perception of Mr Jantjie.

By making it a salient point the journalists are whitewashing the other crimes from the readers memory. The readers will still recall the fraud and the rape after reading the story if you ask them. but two eeks after reading the story, they will have forgotten the fraud but will remember the juicy information about the rape. If a subsequent story tells of a trial over the language violation a few months or a yea later, the public will not associate Mr Jantjie with rape, fraud, murder but just the innocuous language violation and the ruling elite along with their press allies will have buried the story.

Then the hue and cry is why do you want to prosecute a mentally disturbed person for a language violation.

The journalists are doing with commission and omission what magicians do with their “Vanishing Tank” act or vanishing mountain.

A magician once made a mountain in Hawaii disappear for a TV show and live audience in the 1990s. He used flood lights on either side of the mountain as view by the spectators to whitewash the mountain a mile or more away from the filed of view.. This is what journalist do every day.

I don’t know why everyone’s saying he was a fake.
He was signing a rare known language which said ‘ sure glad we don’t have no obamacare here!’
